This long standing business is a wonderful place to dine and enjoy a great breakfast or lunch. For less than $10, I had veal with pasta (a very generous portion), soup, salad and bread. Our server was so fun and very attentive. The staff taking our payment was very engaging, and you could see how much they love this restaurant and its customers. They did inform us that they are having to cut cost and hadn't taken a salary in 3 years. If this wonderful restaurant is eventually forced to close, it will be a huge loss. Doesn't look like much when you drive past, but definitely glad I stopped. I try to patronize local restaurants as much as I can. This family owned restaurant has such a home feeling. There are many frequent customers as I heard the cashier greet people by name. The employees seemed to really like each other and worked well together. Now for the most important part... My food was excellent! I ordered a omelet with came with a choice of pancakes or French toast. I choose French toast and it was delicious. With tip included, I paid $9.50. What a deal! Do not miss out on going here! We've recently visited Ohio for a weekend, had breakfast 2 out of 3 days there :) Our server Bri was phenomenal! She could put most other restaurant servers to shame. Great hospitality, very nice owners & hard-working staff. Food prices are reasonable with delicious, generous portions. Open limited hours, but you can get anything on the menu the entire day. The food is delicious and generous and I love the waitresses who have been there for so many years.

I gave it two stars. One star because it's cheap, and, one star because the food is usually OK and comes out of the kitchen very quickly. Having said that, the place is filthy. The silverware is never clean. Often there is still food stuck on the utensils from some previous customer. The waitresses swab the all tables with the same filthy wet cloth. When the customer sits down the table is usually still wet. The floor of the restaurant is disgusting. The restrooms are something you might find in a third world country. Cockroaches are everywhere. If i could give a place 6 stars I would!! Before visiting Cleveland, I thought there were only two GOATs in the city, LeBron James and Gary Big Play Barnidge. George be steady tossin' extra bacon on my dish just for the fun of it. Next time you're on Triscuit Road, stop by the Mecca and ask for a plate of the slop, extra sloppy, and thank me later. George's Kitchen is an old school diner style restaurant. The menu is extensive, but not surprising with breakfast, sandwiches and classic entrees. I stopped in at about 10am on a weekday and sat at the counter. I ordered the 3 eggs, hashbrowns and cinnamon raisin toast. My ordered appeared in very short order with the eggs cooked nicely over medium, a large portion of crispy potatoes and pre-buttered toast. The food was just fine, nothing special, but certainly a good representation of breakfast. Service was fast and the decor is classic diner style. This is a hidden gem. Known by locals because when I told people I came here for breakfast everyone told me they love this place. True! Very large menu. Lots of options. We were told the corn beef is homemade and great. So we ordered it. Yes it's delicious and homemade. I'd get it again in a heart beat. Had to take some of it home because it was just too much. Home fries are crispy and tender the eggs were perfect. Really good breakfast and not pricey at all. Service was great. Server was helpful and attentive. Prices were great for what you get. Totally worth a trip. I'd come here even if I'm not in Lakewood. I'd definitely go and try something else. They have tons of specials and it looks pretty popular. Here is the downside. Bathrooms were pretty gross. Don't go if you don't have to. Not sure if that means the place is dirty in general but there is that. I hope not. My family decided to go there on Christmas Eve, and everybody had a good meal with friendly service. I can't believe how reasonable the entrees are, not many things on the menu are even up to $8! So we arrive after a 5 hour flight starving at 8pm. Needless to say we would have eaten at any hole in the wall but our trusty Yelp app brought us to George's Kitchen. Boy were we happy. This place does comfort food right. It is a diner. But it is a diner the way it is meant to be right down to Flo type waitresses (you have to have grown up in the 70's to get that one). The food was exactly how it was portrayed on the menu with large but not too large portions. The service was fast despite the crowd. We settled for this place since nothing else was open. The prices are really good and they give a large amount of food but the food was really gross except for the soup. We ordered the gyro and Greek grilled chicken plate, the "secret sauce" on the gyro was hot sour cream and the wrap was obviously microwaved. The grilled chicken plate came with a baked potato that wasn't cooked fully and lukewarm chicken. The food was not fresh at all We were greeted and had a brief conversation with several really nice employees but our server was rude. She dropped the soup on our table and just walked away with noodles and broth all over the table. She had an attitude the whole time we were there as well. My honey and I decided to jump off our low-carb diet for his birthday weekend and wanted to try George's, since everyone is always talking about it! We got there around 10:30 on a Saturday morning and the place was hopping. Parking lot full, entry way crowded... we almost left thinking we'd never get a table. I loved the diner feel, with the old bar counter and round stools. But you're not here for the interior decorating, you're here for the grub! I was feeling gluttonous and ordered two breakfasts- Mini-Belgian waffles with strawberry topping and Eggs with sausage and hashed browns. He got the corned beef hash side along 3 pancakes. First of all, the food came out wicked fast. Our server was very friendly, but efficient. It's possible ::whispers:: that she was a robot. Our food was amazing. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the waffles were a tad crisp but soft on the inside. Everything was hot and served about as quickly as it came off the skillet. It was a very generous portion. I used to come here all the time when I lived out this way. My girls and I came here tonight because we were in the area. We were seated right away and our waitress took our drink orders. The menu is huge and it took us a few extra minutes to decide. We felt a bit pressured to hurry up and order because she asked us 3 times in about 5 minutes if we were ready, yet all our menus were wide open with us still looking. I settled for the chicken parm sandwich to be safe, slightly regretting ordering it because I recently got that from another restaurant. It came with a small salad that was fairly fresh, and a packet of ranch on the side. The sandwich was huge, didn't have much cheese on it, and only a small splash of marinara. I asked for Parmesan on the side which made it a bit better. The fries were just simple frozen fries. Service was very polite and prompt throughout our visit. The only major concern I have is the cleanliness of this place. I really didn't notice til we were done eating and just looking around, waiting for my daughter to finish her soup. No way would they pass an inspection. Old neon signs hung above the coffee and soup station were CAKED with dust and cobwebs. I mean caked. The ceiling tiles are all stained with several water spots. Coolers with salads didn't look very well kept. The hot line window was full of clutter and mess. I'm glad we couldn't see too far into the kitchen, because the little bit you can see from the dining room wasn't pleasing to the eye. I would have taken pics to post, but didn't want to seem so obvious/rude. They really are friendly people providing a good service for a decent price. I just wish the place was cleaned up...a lot! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about George's Kitchen and their food, service, and consistency. This place is a Cleveland gem that any family small or large can enjoy at any time of the day. They're a throwback to a time where things weren't computerized and restaurants ran on consistent processes and quality management. The food is absolutely delicious and their menu has something to offer for every palette/dietary restriction. I have to say it's one of the few places i have never been disappointed by anything I've ate. The owner(s) are there all day, every day, greeting patrons and making sure things run efficiently. I can genuinely appreciate their commitment to remaining one of Cleveland's last true diners. The servers and kitchen run like a perfectly oiled machine. Zero point of sale system, kitchen printer, or electronics. Orders are called through the window and plated like an assembly line Henry Ford would have been proud of. The servers definitely deserve more than a 20% tip for how hard they work. I have been coming here for years. I like the corned beef hash with eggs. I had just worked a 16 hour shift at work and sat down.... I was beat I ordered my normal meal. While I was eating I notice I'd doze off while the weight of the day weight on it and overall Tiredness. I felt it happen maybe 3-4 times so I asked for a box to go home and finally sleep. I cannot get over the price for this place. Let me put it this way: it was so cheap that I bought two meals thinking the portions would be small; they weren't small and I ended up going home with an entire meal intact. Each of the entrees we bought averaged about $7 a piece and came with at least one side. I loved the portion sizes and price but overall the food was just OK. I guess it's one of those "you get what you pay for" kind of things. It's definitely a greasy spoon diner as described by others. It's great comfort food. I got a meatball sub with french fries and a chicken parm sandwich with home fries. One of the meals came with a side salad, but I can't recall which one. Nothing stellar about either of the meals except the chicken parm cutlet covered both halves of the bun. It was huge! I had to cut off a chunk and eat it separate from the sandwich. Hash browns could have used a little more cooking throughout to make more of the potatoes crispy. Overall, George's had solid portions for the price. The service was super friendly and very helpful, always making sure we had drinks or whatever we needed. I'll definitely be back to try more meals when I'm looking for a hefty portion of comfort food. read more
