Was in Lake George unexpectedly for another night. This time the hotel recommended George's. Of course I went online and looked them up, looked decent enough so what the heck.... I sat at the bar, par for the course when I am out on my own. I was there around 6:30, and was the only person at the bar. The restaurant itself was quite busy, as was the bar tender. I asked the bar tender what was good, he told me that they are known for their prime rib. Not a fan, but seeing others food come out, I decided I would have a fillet. My 8 oz fillet was right around $25 which included a trip to their salad bar. I also had a couple of drinks, and the bill came to $36. Pricey I think! The salad bar was ok. It was far better than the Log Jammers salad bar, however their bread was not. I ordered my steak to be medium rare, and asked if that was pink in the center, yes it is said the bar tender. While I waited I could not help but look around, I thought to myself that this looks like a Bugaboo Creek except that the animals do not move. I made a note to myself that if I am in the area with my kids, it is a place to bring them. Where else are you going to see a stuffed bear, deer, elk, fox... in a restaurant? The steak arrived, with a side of broccoli. Unfortunately my steak was a bit undercooked, not purple in the middle but a deep red. Oh well, that happens! I was a bit disappointed with it though. An 8 oz fillet at $25, I would have to believe that it would be on par with the better steak houses, that was not the case! The steak itself was a bit tough and for a bit I thought I should use some steak sauce, of course I did not though. Broccoli was great, a place that does not saturate their vegetables with butter, thanks God. At the end of the day, I would only go here with the kids so that they can see the stuffed animals. The place on the outside is very interesting. I am not sure of all the details, but I think that they (the owners) do a lot for the community. I did take some pics, and have posted them. read more

Awesome Prime Rib. Salad bar is nice, but plates were hot from washing. Interesting decor. A lot of food for the money. The only bad thing I could say is that the cat shelter in the back lot is unappetizing. If you don't like cats, park up front. read more

"Best Food I have Had" is where I will start. On July 4th 2017 Our reservations were for 630pm. We got there on this busy night and seated right on time and the best night of dinning has begun! The menu read to me with everything a food lover could want. Our party of 4 ordered key cuts that test any restaurants quality. From prime rib, fillets and sirloin as well as the lobster tails done to perfection. Let's just say the cooks did these prime meat justice! Our table was in heaven with every mouthful.. Everything was top notch apps to main's. Can't go wrong! Customer Service! I would say Awesome. ***** This is real reason I'm writing this. We had Martin... He is a Rock Star. From the Start he was Awesome! Made you feel like your his only table, attentiveness was smooth the whole night and made our meal feel fully enjoyable every course and drinks never went dry with empty glasses. He's an excellent communicator and knows Customer Service perfectly. You have it in this business or you don't and Martin has is it. I been in customer service all my life and let people do there job. Martin exceeds in a demanding position & worth every great tip.. Brother, you Rock! Food was fair, wait was unreasonably long, and service was not great. One hour wait for our meals. There were 2 Prime ribs ordered med rare and one was very noticeably med well and had to be sent back. Short ribs were a bit dry and fries were cold. We visited George's in person last week. Server was wearing only face shield, no mask. Very unsettling. Food was mediocre. Husband ordered surf and turf and did not ask what the market price was; when bill came it was 72 dollars for his meal!!! Would like to say it was worth it but.... sorry to say we won't be back. When we go to LG we always go to George's. Made reservations the day before and we were seated immediately. I had an amazing medium rare filet mignon cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the NY Strip steak medium rare as well. His was barely pink but tasted good. Not great like we are used to. That's why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. This restaurant is great for the area. The main strip of Lake George food is typically pub styled food. This restaurant had great service and the menu prices was much better for the quality of the food. They had a salad bar that was good (clean and tastes good) ; it had a great variety at the salad bar (pasta, potato, and standard green). The surf and turf was amazing ( the Alaskan King crab was worth every penny). The haddock was flakey BUT extremely dry. The bronzed scallop sauce was awful. Overall a good experience. read more

It's worth it to go for the early bird special. 3:30-5:30? (I'm pretty sure) Prime rib is awesome. Also, I have had the sirloin. Baked potatoes are HUGE!! Salad bar is pretty good, usually two soups to choose from. I'm very happy that the cat shelter in the back has moved to a better, bigger location. I always felt bad for them. My experience at George's was unpleasant to say the least. We ordered our food and an appetizer. The shrimp was flavorless and tasted stale so we returned. After our food came and the steak wasn't cooked to medium rare (it was bleeding) and the chicken had a raw taste and smell. We told our waitress and she took the steak to the back after the owners came and yelled you are gonna pay for that and I'll bring it out. He came and brought the same steak after cooking it more and said he wont remove anything from the bill. We barley ate any of it and just asked for it to be return due to the fact when you return food the chef could react negatively and make your food less properly. He then came back in an aggressive tone and said you will pay for it even though we didn't even eat it and you shouldn't have to pay for something you didn't enjoy. Delicious! Came here on multiple recommendations. Took advantage of the early bird specials, tons on the menu to choose from! Even for me, someone who does not gravitate towards red meat. Mom had the top sirloin which tasted as good as it looked (cooked perfectly). My brother had the pork chops which were very flavorful. I ordered the eggplant parm (yes, always a little weary about ordering Italian at a steakhouse) but to my surprise it was delicious. The presentation was impressive too. Will come back on future trips to the area. Portions were large and salad bar came with every meal (always a plus). Will be back! read more

My friend has been talking about this place since the first day we booked a trip to Lake George. Because of all the hype, my expectations were high. This place lived up to all his hype! I swear my princess cut prime rib was the size of my head! And so very tender. Everyone at our table (of seven) enjoyed every aspect of their meal and experience. We arrived early for our reservation and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender attended to us promptly, recommended beers upon inquiry and didn't seem annoyed by seven of us trying to talk at once. I hadn't been to George's in years and I am very glad we returned. While the outside may seem a little dark, the inside is filled with lovely Tiffany lamps. It has a real old school Adirondack feel. From the host to our server David, everyone is very accomodating. The meals come with a traditional salad bar which was very good. My husband had the princess cut prime rib with mashed potatoes. Both the prime rib and potatoes were perfect. Not overcooked nor over seasoned. I had the eggplant napoleon which was very good but the cut was a little on the thick side. George's is a little on the pricier side but definitely worth the trip. It has always been a little more off the beaten path and I hope it stays that way. We will be back. read more

If i was rating for just service I would've gave them 5 stars !! Our waitress was amazing. Checked on us at the perfect time and was very nice. But the food needed seasoning , it was so bland. After an unsuccessful trip to George's last summer, we decided to give it another chance. We returned to George's for dinner last night and will NOT be returning. The salad bar had (and always seems to have) a long line, only to arrive and find many of the containers empty (or scraping bottom) and the salad dressing of choice empty. The menu, in our opinion, is fairly limited; the prices are high. The least expensive dinner on the menu is chicken breast served with linguini for $30; prices go straight up from there. The most annoying, however, is the noise volume. The two of us sitting across a table from each other could not carry on a conversation. Would we recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a relaxing dinner, absolutely not ... sorry! ;( read more

Really nice ambience and the food was great, prepared with care and a lot of homemade items. We stopped for a break from driving and it was one of the few places still open in Lake George post-season. I had the pork chop: a huge juicy fat chop that came smothered with saucy apples and on top of a savory sweet stuffing. My friend had the haddock: not terrible but fish is not their thing, it was a lot of seasoned bread crumbs on a skinny piece of fish, although she loved the mashed potatoes with prime rib gravy. Don't recommend it for the price you pay. Came with expectations to have a good steak - one would expect that they would know how to handle the their meet. Asked for a medium rare and got a well done sirloin - It took them half an hour to replace it to again over cooked steak, by that time we weren't hungry anymore - they still charged us full price. We have t been to George's since the original George owner! We were delighted to see all the Tiffany style lights still there. Barry the owner came to our table to say Hi. We asked about the one "real" Tiffany lamp and learned it was no longer there. Lol. Social distancing was set up beautifully and the place is spotless. On to the food: We missed the salad bar but understand why it's not there due to Covid. Good menu with a nice selection. The soups were delicious. Especially the New England clam chowder. My brother loves the French Onion. Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection. The shrimp scamp- perfection. Loads of shrimp. Appetizers were good too. Their rolls were warm and very tasty. Megan, our waitress, was very attentive and professional. The drinks from the bar were very good too. I would recommend this place for dinner. You really need to make a reservation to get in. Even with a reservation you are going to be waiting. It is better to go here outside of the summer (tourist) months. It is great for large groups. Husband wasn't happy with his prime rib, i ordered a shrimp scampi that was not what i thought, it came in a very heavy white cream sauce, way too rich. My son got some shrimp stuffed with crab meat, and it was on the bland side. For what we paid, we should have gotten better food. You definitely need to make a reservation for this restaurant, but it's worth it. The food is fantastic and the salad bar is beautiful. One thing to keep in mind is if you go during Americade. The food doesn't change, but the atmosphere turns from a romantic restaurant to a loud, party room. Not that one is better than the other, but just something to expect if you go there during that time. I always get seafood there and I have never been disappointed. This place is spectacular. We had a party of nine and every dinner came out perfect. Prime rib cuts are not what the menu says, they are generous! The salad bar had wide variety and fresh bread. The building replicates a large camp or cabin and right up the road from the Million Dollar Beach. If you do not want to sit down in the family dining room the bar is a option. Service was amazing and all staff members smiled and appeared to be happy. Prices are a bit high but when you get your meal you will be fully satisfied. Before 6 pm they have a menu with meals under $20, great deal! Our small 12 ounce rib (really 14) was $26. At George's you will not have room for dessert. Went to George's because we were disappointed in our last two nights dinners at Log Jam where we experienced Overcooked steak and undercooked salmon and a mushroom appetizer that was brought out uncooked. Everything we had at George's was delicious and cooked to how we requested. We both had the filet mignon and my wife added a lobster tail. Our waitress , Megan P, was exceptional., extremely friendly and attentive despite being obviously over worked. We were amazed at the amount of tables she was assigned, including solo on a 14 person table. Yet she still stayed on top of everything and checked on us repeatedly. Management is very lucky to have someone who hustles like she did because that could be a recipe for disaster with your average waiter/waitress. We will definitely return but I hope they hire more help/servers because if not for Megan's hustle and attentiveness the great food experience would have been overshadowed by the service. read more
