I can see what the owners are trying to do with the menu, though I think they may benefit from narrowing in on their specialty a bit more. If you'd like to be berated for no reason, come here. In addition to being relatively dirty, one of the employees, who, hopefully for his own sake, is not the owner, raised his voice at our family member simply because she asked, in her broken English, for someone to clean the table when they had a chance. He was told multiple times that she didn't speak English and didn't understand that he was agreeing to help. His response? That he was informed of this language barrier "after the fact." The fact being... him raising his voice at her? Sir please. He informed us that she kept responding "yes" to him. Clearly, reading context clues is a luxury afforded to some but not all. Raising his voice was a choice as was the decision to die on the hill of an Eastern European woman who was simply acknowledging him with the one word she felt safe using: "yes." We made a conscious effort to eat here instead of Yardhouse, hoping to support a local business, not knowing we'd encounter someone triggered by the word "yes." Thankfully this occurred before we gave them our money; which is unfortunate given that his actions have since affected the livelihood of his coworkers. Save your money for establishments that choose empathy and curiosity over hostility at the slightest inconvenience. I've spent my entire career in customer experience. Decided to stop in for lunch after a day out. Spot is pretty simple with inside and outside seating, patio is nice especially when the weather is great. Pizza was good, crust enjoyable, and service was quick. I prefer the supreme pizza over neapolitan just for the toppings. My only nitpick was the price. We were excited to try this pizza place when we were walking around the pike. We ordered pizza and French fries. When the pizza came out I could tell something was wrong with it. I tried to pick up a slice and it was soggy and falling apart. We had to send it back. They put it back in the oven and gave us the same pizza. It was still the same but now it was burnt on the edges. I was a little embarrassed at this point to tell them that again we didn't like the pizza. But my kids could not eat this, so I went back to tell the server. He was very nice and said he would fix it. Then the cook came out and started saying that the pizza was fine and that she wouldn't discount us anything or remove it from our bill. I think she was so rude and disrespectful and loud. Was wandering the pier area with my 2yr old daughter and ultimately chose Gilan because their outdoor area was big enough to accommodate a stroller. I think their outdoor area facing the harbor is great...you do hear announcements for the harbor tour and there is a fair amount of foot traffic but I would say that's to be expected...with perhaps less chaos than the likes of "The Yardhouse" on the opposite side of the pier. The service was friendly but mediocre and inattentive...we were not offered a high-chair perhaps they didn't have one...rarely am I not offered one at a restaurant when I'm alone with my child. The food was hit and miss; the meat of the burger I ordered was thick and substantial...though I wasn't asked if I had a preference for the doneness of meat patty and thought it was slightly over cooked. My little one loved the crispy fries. I ordered onion rings for myself which I thought were a little over cooked and hard. Lastly, the food isn't inexpensive...was it a good value...my knee jerk feeling is no. If your goal is to hangout Gilan's may have the best location at this part of the pier. I walked around trying to find a place to enjoy a nice lunch. After seeing big crowds everywhere else, I really wanted to support a local business. The location is perfect, right on the water, that unfortunately was the only highlight. My friends ordered an 16 inch combination pizza and I ordered the fish and chips. My wife ordered the calamari and chips. The food arrived promptly although the presentation of everything look nice, it was really lacking on flavor my fish and chips was served with a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted like it had just been removed from a plastic bag and poured into the cup and had zero flavor zero seasoning, and I also believe that it may have already been spoiled. My fish tasted like they came frozen in a bag, which was a bummer considering we were sitting right next to the ocean. I also ordered onion rings, again nothing special. My friends pizza looked great, but was very floppy. They both said that it was definitely a fork and knife type of pizza. Crust on the bottom had little to no color. This place does not even deserve one star. I placed an order a week prior for the Long Beach Shoreline cruise experience however the day before I had to cancel due to a death in my family. I called and left several messages and even contacted the company via their website. No response and they ended up charging my card anyway. After a week of trying to reach a Manager, he rudely got on the phone and said that he never received my messages and that they have been busy and therefore he will be giving me a refund. I asked for his name and he told me "My name is Manager"! He laughed and cursed at me because I explained to him that him being busy has nothing to do with me getting refunded. On one of our walks at Shoreline village, decided to try this place. Although it's a pizza place, they serve a variety of foods. We had the clam chowder. It came out quick and hot. We especially liked the location of Gilan because it's at the far end of the Village where it's comparatively quieter due to less foot traffic and therefore more chill than other diners in the village. The shrimp cocktail is not what it claims to be, they simply give you salad with a tiny cup of sauce. The shrimp is not seasoned and definitely not fresh! I went to this restaurant this past weekend expecting a good meal but I was met with some of the worst food and service I've ever experienced. As we walked into the restaurant no one greeted us and we overheard a male server being rude to a customer which should've been our first sign to leave. We decided to order the margarita pizza, buffalo wings, and garlic bread. When we looked for a table we found none except for one that was extremely dirty which we had to clean ourselves before sitting. The garlic bread had no flavor it didn't even taste like bread and the wings were overcooked and bland. When my partner asked for a refill the male server we had overheard earlier completely ignored him. As we were finishing our meal we noticed that incoming  customers were welcomed with kindness and their tables were cleaned by staff before they even took a seat. On top of that the food made both my partner and me sick for the past 2 days. Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone-- you would be better off spending less at one of those food trucks across the street. read more

To make things worse, when I got my credit bill a couple of weeks later I noticed they had charged an additional $10 dollars on the tip we left which was the minimum 15% out of a food bill of $130 The reason we left the minimum tip was because of the slow service and bad attitude of the server. I came her with my daughter for a bite and they sat us down immediately as it was decently busy. We chose to sit outside and watch the boats and the sunset with the great view they provide on the boardwalk. Staff are very friendly and attentive which we liked and food came out like 15 mins after we were seated. Here's our intake on the food: 16" Pepperoni Pizza: 8/10 - Tastes good, very cheesy, generous on the pepperoni slices, sauce is great, good thin crust but it is slightly on the greasy side. I would ordered again. 8 Piece Buffalo wings: 7/10 - Every bite was a perfect crunch but a bit "dry". Plenty of meat on them, ranch dipping sauce was good but IMO, I really couldn't taste the "Buffalo" sauce and they were a tad bit on the saltier side I would say. Needs less salt and more Buffalo sauce to taste the flavor. Kabob plate: 8/10 Beef Kabobs were good and flavorful, pita bread was on point and the hummus was good. Overall, it's a good place to check out (nothing too fancy but just right) and eat if you're up for a quick bite. However, you cannot reach the businesses and when you do you will be told you have to book 3 weeks in advance which is not listed on the ad and is very misleading. I don't like to be mislead by business establishments. If you're offering an additional promotional service it should be accessible to ALL. This place was overpriced for what it was. The only thing good about the location is the view if you're sitting outside at the patio. Otherwise, there's nothing worth noting here. The service is ok, the servers didn't seem too friendly but at least they're responsive. I don't usually mind bad service too much but the food/drinks tasted awful and was overpriced. The calamari and fries seemed like they were deep fried from frozen Costco bags. The chowder was the worst chowder I've had in my life and the bread bowl was stale. Canned chowder is MUCH tastier.
