I was very shocked of how good the pizza was. We went there on a Friday night while it was snowing. First time in Chicago some people highly recommend this place. We tried a deep dish stuffed pizza half peperonni and mushroom and the other half was chicken Alfredo Style. As I'm writing this down my mouth is still watery just remembering it. I took my family to this establishment and we receive excellent service, however The pizza was cold when it came to the table. The taste was good but we ordered dessert which was the chocolate chip cookie and ice cream. Is Was supposed to be baked in the oven in a melting skill But it was the ordinary chocolate chip cookie what ice cream on top. The cookie was hard and sort of stale. I did not appreciate that period I felt that of its false advertisement in a sense. You should not advertise Is if someone is going to get a nice hot skillet with the melting chocolate chip cookie. Very interesting that I order salads from this place weekly..with very specific directions for preparation. NEVER have I been charged for choosing an additional salad dressing, as I've been ordering for a long time...Today, I get a random(not so random call) that I'm being charged for extra salad dressing...okay because I ordered three salads..OK. I really don't like leaving low ratings for a good place like this, but this was outrageous. We ordered pizza at 11pm. Granted, it was Christmas Eve but their online ordering system said they were OPEN and it would be 60-70 minutes for pizza. Those 70 minutes went by...and a lot more. We figured that with it being Christmas Eve and the only ones open, there must be a delay in delivery time and waited patiently. Fast forward to now...THREE HOURS & FIFTEEN MINUTES later; when we've tried to call they aren't answering their phone and their site is now listed as CLOSED. WTF?! If you weren't going to be processing an order for us because you were closing, at least have the DECENCY to call and tell us, especially since your system accepted our credit card payment!!! Then, at least, we could've gotten something else to eat instead of sitting around STARVING. The place was had about 3 other groups seated, and over 5 tables empty. When we arrived our host attempted to sit us at tables with old food & dishes on them, this went on about two minutes. After musical tables we were sat at the table closest to the exit. After 10+ minutes of not receiving a menu, water, or any acknowledgement from any of the servers we left and went across the street to Leona's for an amazing Garlic Chicken Alfredo Pizza & excellent customer service. I'm extremely disappointed over the dinner I had delivered tonight. I ordered the Chicken Oreganato and found a chunk of ground meat in my pasta. I surely hope I didn't get someone's leftovers. I feel so grossed out. Echk... bleh... nasty! My husband ordered the baked mostaccioli and specifically asked to have a side of meatballs. His order came without the meatballs and he gave the restaurant a call. So they asked many times to look at his food again and double check to make sure it's not there. Came here on a Tuesday evening to grab dinner before a movie down the street, and waited 20 minutes after being seated before giving up and leaving. No one came to ask if we were ready to order, or even offer us glasses of water. We had to make the movie in less than an hour and were not in the mood to wait any longer for service that should have happened within the first five minutes max. As we were walking out, the servers (who spent the entire 20 minutes we were waiting chatting to each other behind the counter) simply stared at us and did not even bother to ask us why were leaving. Chicago is known for many things...one of these to deep dish pizza. If you travel to Chicago and do not indulge in this hallmark of the Chicago food scene, you have failed as a tourist. We have eaten pizza at at least a dozen local pizza places in Chicagoland area (Mr. is from Chicago and insists on hitting up at least one of these places during each trip.) this lady visit, we returned to Giordano's. We have, based in our extensive market research, decided this is the best example of Chicago deep dish pizza. First, deep dish is NOT pan pizza. It's deep dish, meaning a slice stands at at least 1.5 to 2 inches high. There is a lot of sauce. There are a lot of toppings. There is a lot of cheese. Whatever your toppings of choice may be, be prepared for a hearty slice of pizza. I am a little sized woman and one piece is plenty. My Chicago guy (who grew up on it) can usually manage 2-3 pieces. I tell you this in case you are wondering if you should "order up a size." We usually get the smallest size and ALWAYS end up taking at least 2-3 pieces home. It makes for awesome leftovers so no real harm is done. Order up some beer, face the TV to watch whatever Chicago team is playing and enjoy all that makes Chicago great. read more

Can I just say how utterly disappointed I am with how my food was delivered to me. First I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and broccoli , I didn't get any chicken. Then I open the box of the sampler I ordered and the marinara sauce spilled all over. Further they gave me less than half of a container of ranch and failed to include the BBQ sauce. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the food came in a decent amount of time and it didn't taste that bad. I can say I will never order delivery from here again. Edit: Just got off the phone with the manager (angel) and they were kind enough to give me a credit for the sampler as well as the chicken. I was a Chicago Deep Dish virgin, until I went to Giordano's! A group of local friends took me there and I really liked it. We ordered some beer, wine, appetizers and pizzas. My merlot was a good house wine and I had some BBQ wings and veggie pizza. The wings were delicious with a little kick that made them fun! And, of course, the star of the night was the Deep Dish pizza. I had no idea it would be so filling! I could only eat one slice and loved every single bite of it. 8/5/20. - as usual the best deep dish pizza, in our community. Never failed our family. But what does fail us is the perfect made salsa with lettuce that won't stay fresh the next day. I love Greek salad but this place doesn't give us a chance to save some for the next day. So please don't waste your money on any salads. The lettuce won't have a chance! Poor salads. If it were possible to give 0 stars I would. I have never been a huge Giordano's fan, but tonight was the last straw for me. I ordered a kids pasta with butter and parmesan cheese. I ordered extra cheese and extra cheese packets on the side. Well, after it was delivered I eagerly looked for the cheese packets and there were none. And it was truly disappointing since we are currently out of Parmesan cheese in my household. I opened up the pasta and saw there was little to no cheese on the dish. That in itself isn't the end of the world; but as I was eating the pasta I bit into something sharp and hard. It was a freaking staple in my food!! When people from out of town ask for my recommendation on what pizza places to check out I NEVER say Giordano's and I will continue to do so. Get it together Giordano's. read more

This place just hit my sister's and mine low point at the same time. We had a very delish salad and a very delish pizza at about 2pm. This was a little little later than we usually eat lunch but what a wonderful experience. The waiter was very helpful and very accommodating. ( since now I am confined to a wheelchair) they served us outside and added our dessert inside. It is a very great place for lunch. This is the place for your classic Chicago deep dish pizza. I personally prefer Lou Malati's but this place is still decent. The pizza is right out of the oven but ours was a little undercooked at the center: the dough for the crust was a bit gooey. I ordered for pick up and specified a pick up time THREE hours later. I don't think they bothered cooking the deep dish until we entered the building. Over 50 minutes waiting on an order placed ahead of time. What a joke. Being told the kitchen is running 1.5 hours behind when you have had the order for three hours and could have in the very least told us ahead of time re the delay? Wow what happened to this place? As you can see with my reviews, I hardly give two stars. I am a pretty positive person no matter how bad the other reviews are. And Giordano's is known to the locals as being overrated and mostly tourists like this pizza or Chicago transplants,but we still liked them despite the hate. We have been going to this Giordano's location for quite some time but we were going so many times that we had to chill out. Two years later and I am so disappointed. Pizza slices are small and not the usual huge pieces that you expect for deep dish pizza. I wish I had a picture but we tried it one last time and the pizza was so flat that it was not a deep dish pizza at all, completely deflated dry crust. It was horrible. We are not one to throw food away so we ate it,and we called them to let them know we were completely not happy. They offered to make us a new one but we were not looking for a free hand out. The owner or manager looked strung out too when we told him in person about it and showed them the pizza. Looks like Giordano's is downsizing in quality and opening more locations instead which is bizarre. I should have been charged a thin crust pizza instead of deep dish. What a rip off. I write this review mainly out of annoyance. I've eaten at this spot MANY times because it's so convenient to where I live but it doesn't mean it's good and yesterday was basically the straw that broke the camel's back. The pizza here is passable and that's all. I usually order thin crust cheese because I'm in a bind, I need a pizza fairly fast, and it's close. I've had the other types of pizza here...all just okay. And for the price, I'd go somewhere else. But the thing that really kills me is the customer service. I basically SEVERELY dislike the people who work in here. Every time I call to place an order, I feel like I'm talking to someone physically located in another country--it sounds like a war-zone wherever they're answering the phone, and I end up screaming my order several times into the phone, causing me to look and feel stupid. Customer-service wise, they run the gamut from being somehow apathetic about your business to outright rude. And here's a little tip should you still proceed to order from them: Go with delivery over pick-up everytime. When the pizza's delivered, the guys delivering are always awesome (very friendly) and the pizza is hotter than hot. When I pick it up, it seems like everything's been sitting for roughly 3 hours and I get sneered at snotty cashier du jour. Order from here only if you must. And even then, prepare yourself for a bounty of mediocrity. read more

I had drafted a review a few months ago giving this place 5 stars because I thought the stuffed pizza was so excellent. However, I ordered a pizza about a week ago or so and ended up almost choking on a piece of copper wire that I found inside the crust. I contacted customer service TWICE and they only thing they asked me was where I ordered from. It was a trite email; there appeared to be no intention on their part to apologize or to make amends. Went tonight for the first time. The server was polite but forgot to put our pizza order in; let us know after about an hour waiting. She was very apologetic and it happens; ppl make mistakes. We ordered a sandwich for my partner and nothing for me since it was already late. When the check came nothing was done which, for all the apologies, seemed very odd. The manager never came to the table to apologize or check on us. Overall, they could have saved this experience by just showing a little service, nothing big - take the drinks off, the appetizer, anything to show they were seriously sorry but zilch. My guy and I went here on Friday night. The place was moderately busy, but with lots of open tables. We were seated in a booth, and then we waited. And waited. Five minutes, ten minutes... we were actively trying to catch a staffer's eye or flag someone down, but no one seemed to be paying attention. This, despite there being a lot of servers milling around. Fifteen minutes in, a large party of ten or so came in, was seated at a table RIGHT next to our booth, and was immediately served. We hadn't even been offered water or checked on once. We got up in disgust and left. One of the other servers actually chirped "Have a great night!" as we walked out the door. I love this place! The owner is really sweet and always wants to make sure everyone leaves happy and with full bellies. All the servers are fantastic. I've had a few different servers everytime I've been there and they're always super friendly! The pizza!!! Stuffed is the way to go. Tastes amazing and it's HUGE! I'm a regular...a good chunk of the counter staff knows me by face, name, and order. I'm that guy. I can see the store from the window of my apartment. I've had their stuffed (deep dish), thin crust, most of their sandwiches, and several of their pastas. Deep Dish... Gooey cheese, slightly sweet and fairly thick sauce, with typical pizza place meats. The crust is great. Slightly buttery, somewhat salty, crunch on the outside with a nice bread like texture on the bottom. This is my single favorite place for Deep Dish Pizza in the city. Thin Crust... Not nearly as good as their deep. It's on the better end of thin/hand tossed pizza, but it is a second choice to their deep. Sandwiches... Great, and pretty cost efficient ($10-ish). I've had: Italian Beef, Italian Sausage, Combo (personal favorite), Meatball, Chicken Parmesan, and Chicken Breast sandwiches. My top two recommendations are: Combo and Meatball w/baked mozzarella. You can thank me later for the delicoiusness, and you can curse me later for the heart attack. The rolls they use are great, the meats and seasonings are of nice quality, and the cost is pretty awesome. Each sandwich comes with a side. I get french fries every time, as they are steak fries. When I order one of their sandwiches, I feel delightfully stuffed without feeling like I spend $10 on a sandwich that I could've made at home (certain other places, I get that feeling). Pasta... Unless if you're splitting an order, get the smaller size. The large size is enough for at least 2-3 meals for one person (speaking of the spaghetti) . Their pasta tastes better than what my Mom used to make, granted, my family is full of Midwest farm type cooks rather than Italian. Service... I order for pickup every time. I've been going to this location for about three years now, and I've yet to eat there. The people are nice, they're up for doing a "delayed start" so that your order is hot when you get there, and they remember you, if you come back often enough. "Delayed start" stuff, for awhile, I'd order a pizza right when I left work, yet it takes me longer to get home from work than it does for the pizza to cook...so I'd ask them if they would wait a few minutes to start it because I will be there around ::time that is about 90 mins later::. I have never had any issues with this place. I don't eat there as often as I used to, but that is because you really shouldn't eat there 4-5 times a week like I was...now, it's 1-2 times a month. read more
