Overall, just not worth the hype. Lets consider than i can in just before 8pm on a Wednesday night. This place is near the conference center, where there is a massive event going on this week. It was not crowded when i walked in, i was seated right away. It got a but busy after. The ambiance it's fine, it's a pizza place, fun and a bit loud inside, what you would expect. The staff, what can i say, nothing special. They have 1 guy taking orders in the dining room area, and also at the bar. He took my order, and advised me the pizzas take anout 26 to 35 minutes, i was ok with that. I ordered a buold your own, personnal size pizza with 1 topping. The waiter never came back to me. An hour layer I'm waving down a nus boy too ask him about my pizza. Appatently he was also wondering where it was ‍. My pizza arrived moments later. Classic Chicago spot. It's a chain restaurant but the pizza is good. I'm not a huge fan of deep dish pizza but when in Chicago, you have to try it. The pizza was good. I could only eat one slice and the rest I took home. And it was still good the following day. The service was good, pretty much ordered everything via QRS code and boom the food appeared. Our deep dish pizza came out and it was not fully cooked - the waiter did not apologize but offered to put it back in the oven. When it came back, the cheese was more melted but there was raw dough. Upon telling our waiter about the raw dough, he replied "it's an acquired taste, I don't cook the pizza." Absolutely no apology or service recovery was offered. In the neighborhood so thought I would try the thin crust pizza. I was greeted at the door and seated at a high top around the bar. Several large tvs to watch sports games and nice ambiance. Steven took my order and explained the timing for the pizzas as deep dish was much longer. I tried a glass of the sangria tons of cherries and slices of fruit very refreshing. Giordano's is probably the most talked about deep pizza place in Chicago aside from Lou Malnoti's. Being from California I really wanted to try the deep dish pizzas here. I ordered a deep dish pizza, calamari, and the Italian salad. Everything was okay at best. The pizza took a while to come out and I felt like it wasn't hot enough it was just okay. The calamari was good, and the salad was overly dressed I didn't really like it. Our waitress was okay. She rarely came to check up on us to see if we needed anything or to refill our drinks. I would understand if it was busy but there were probably 3 other groups there. The ambiance was okay there was music and sports channels on the tv and everyone enjoying their own space. Went for lunch, had the personal Chicago style deep dish and salad, and got the broken cannoli too. Salad dressing was really good, vinaigrette based. Salad also had good selection of toppings. Pizza was great, lots of cheese and enough sausage to make it good, but the sauce was a little tangy and thin for my taste. I had never had a classic Chicago style deep dish pizza before. I've always been a bit skeptical of the concept. I was in town for the first time and was staying at the Hilton on the Loop. Giordano's was right across the street. So I decided to give it a try and it was a revelation. The pie was spectacular! I had heard people complain about waiting for pizza at a bunch of Chicago places, and was prepared for the 45 minute wait when they told me when I arrived. Very beautiful crust, nice variety of fillings in the "special", with a perfect mix of cheese, meats and veggis. And it didn't drip apart when pulling out the slice. Although it was a small, I was glad when some travelling mates came after an excursion and met me there-- it fed all 4 of us nicely. One star for a fantastic waiter/server but that was the only highlight. Where to begin? Last at Giordano's decades ago when I could still do the calories of deep dish. Not now. Figured I'd try the tavern style that I crave but never had here. What a giant disappointment. Pizza was overcooked on the edges. Hardly any cheese. Toppings were sparse and little to no taste. Crust was like flatbread...not a traditional crust. Partner had the small lasagna Bolognese. He said the sauce tasted like it was out of a can. Portion was very small. He said there was almost no meat in the meat sauce. But he liked the bread. Worst of all was there was a $1.25 additional charge on the bill from the company. Waiter explained it and asked if we'd like to have it taken off and we said yes and he did so. Awful. Bad food and an additional charge? We loved the pizza. Love the mozzarella cheese. We were seated promptly even though we were a group of 9. Our server was attentive. One thing though, they should inform customers before hand that the kid's menu is not updated. Or better yet, change it. I'm on the fence about my rating and review due to a few factors. The location was great for where we were staying, an added benefit were the hours of operation for this place. We were visiting from out of town and decided to stop in later in the evening. We sat by the bar and before we received and introduction from our waiter, who had just spoken to the folks behind us about the wait time for deep dish, he came over and said to us "did you hear what I just told them"... We didn't really, so he repeated himself saying the wait for deep dish was 45 minutes, which was no problem as we weren't in a rush. When we were ready to order, I ordered first requesting a "regular" pizza with pepperoni and black olives, then my husband ordered a deep dish, whatever their special was. Our waiter said it would be 45 minutes for the deep dish which again was fine, but I asked if I should wait to place my order since he said my pizza would only take about 20 minutes. He reassured me that it was fine, the kitchen would know to put it in at different times, and we thought nothing of it. Until, the waiter came with our pizzas, both deep dishes. He definitely knew he made a mistake based on the body language he presented. Not wanting to wait for another pizza or to make a big deal, even though I truly am not a fan of deep dish, we accepted it. How can you not come to chicago and get deep dish? I came here for lunch while visiting, and came to this location specifically due to its proximity to the Field Museum. I can't same anything about parking as I was walking and did not have to worry about it. We were immediately greeted and sat at a high top table in the bar and were given menus. We were waiting for our third, but he arrived shortly after us. The initial service was great, and I would have given 4 stars, however it took quite a while for our server to return to take our actual order, and as you may or may not know, deep dish has a long lead item. While this wasn't a huge issue for us as we were not on a time crunch and we're catching up with a local friend, I did think the service was too slow to not dock a star. The food was good, and otherwise everything else was standard. Overall, I'm sure I'll return to Giordano's, but location may vary. read more

Pretty standard .. fettuccine tastes just like you would expect at Olive Garden or a similar chain, nothing special. My wife and I stopped in for dinner. They were busy and the wait for a table was 45 minutes. But there were seats at the bar so we sat there right away. If I could give 0 stars, I would. My family and I traveled all the way from California and we were so excited to have the famous Chicago deep dish pizza. What an utter disappointment! When she brought it back, it was lukewarm at best. We were so disappointed in this experience and the quality of this pizza. We asked to have it discounted because it was so horrendous. When she came back, with the bill she quickly walked away and it wasn't discounted. We know they couldn't be that busy. There were maybe 3-4 groups in the entire restaurant. So unbelievably rude. Worst service I've ever had and worst pizza I've ever had. We got the Giordano's sampler - mozzarella triangles, cheesy garlic bread, boneless chicken nuggets and a medium deep dish meat and more meat pizza and added spinach and mushrooms. The sampler came out first. It came with marinara, buffalo, BBQ, and ranch sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed the nuggets and the cheesy garlic bread. The deep dish pizza was amazing! Loved the meat combo. Service was great! By the time we left (around 5:30pm, the restaurant was nearly full). We definitely beat the dinner rush; still on California time. read more

After a long move and craving some deep dish for dinner, I was looking forward to the classic Giordano's. I have been to other locations with much better service. The phone clerk who placed my order mumbled did not even state the name Giordano's when answering. I could hear them rolling eyes through the phone as I proceeded with my order. I tried to order a meal deal and the response was, "you can't order that. We don't have that" with the continued mumbling and monotone speech. As I tried to ask questions about portions and sizing of the salads since it was not clear on the website. the phone clerk simply stated back the portions without answering my questions (i.e., how much would the differing sizes serve?). This entire interaction was incredibly off putting. I was told it would be 45 minutes (which was a fair wait time!) and was immediately hung up on. I was 5 minutes away from the S Michigan location so I walked to pick up the pizza. The same phone clerk was at the front and proceeded to roll her eyes at me and everyone I watched her interact with during my wait. It was pretty disheartening given how friendly I saw the other servers and staff interact. The dining room looked clean and well lit. Seemed like it would be enjoyable to sit, had we not been moving. For the food- About 10 minutes later my order was ready. I get back and the deep dish pizza is barely lukewarm. The pepperoni was actually cold and the pizza was still a bit doughy. When it came to the Chopped salad order- I also asked for bleu cheese salad dressing on the side and instead received the bleu cheese crumbles on the side with the dressing I did not request. The Giordano's sampler was pretty good, but for the price I just recommend getting the cheesy garlic bread. The chicken nuggets and mozzarella triangles were pretty average and nothing I would get again. This was a pretty disappointing $72 order. If the food had been a bit better, I would have definitely give another star, or even a star and a half. This was my first time and it was GREAT!!! I am as stuffed as a pig lol ‍ very full! The pizza was ridiculously delicious! I ordered the Parmesan crusted pan pizza with chicken sausage it was to die for! For starters I had the Parmesan cheese fries and boneless Buffalo chicken nuggets. The Buffalo sauce was perfect!
