We didn't get a chance to try the Giovanni's shrimp truck in North Shore so I was so happy find that they had one in Honolulu. This location is located in H Mart's food court on the second floor. There are signs inside to help find it. There are two parking structures and we parked in the one across from it. Parking was free for the first hour. They accept credit cards at this location and we ordered the Scampi garlic shrimp. Our order was ready within a short 5 minutes. The garlic flavor was tasty and amazing especially with squeezed lemon on top! And the shrimp was cooked perfectly. However, both my husband and I disliked that the shrimp was not peeled. We felt like the flavoring was lost after peeling the shrimp with our hands so you either have to suck the seasoning on the shell or scrape it off and on to the shrimp. The shrimp only came with two scoops of white rice, I wish it came with a side of mac salad too but that was extra. Service was friendly and the food court eating area was very clean and there are plenty of tables to sit at. There are restrooms also available in this location. read more

I ordered the popular shrimp scampi version and as flavorful as it was it was far too buttery. Too much butter soaked into the rice and overall the meal felt greasy. I went to the original giovanni's shrimp truck in North Shore the first time I came to Oahu, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had another location closer to where I was staying!! The taste was amazing as usual, but I do think the original food truck is still better. The location is also a bit hard to find, it's located upstairs above the Hmart. Our food came out pretty fast though! We got the "no refunds" hot and spicy shrimp and the lemon butter. The lemon butter by itself was pretty good but so much better if you dip it in the hot and spicy sauce. I didn't think the hot and spicy was too spicy and was still enjoyable to eat, but if you can't handle spice this definitely isn't the one for you. Overall, still really good and would come back if I can't make it to North Shore!! read more

This place was pretty hard to find- on top of a supermarket! I was expecting a food truck like the last time I've been ( over a decade ago), but it looks like they moved to a food court. It was not busy at all, so we got our food pretty quickly. The shrimp was full of garlic and still delicious! Too bad my friend can't handle spices, because they have a spicy version too! The flavor on the outside was good, but didn't penetrate to the shrimp after you removed the shell. I was also disappointed because I have made the same exact shrimp in my kitchen. The shrimp was flavorful. However... The amount of oil was alarming. As I was eating my rice was pooled in oil. I am not shy to greasy fried rices. This one however, was too much. Located on the second floor of HMART, this is a great way to experience Giovanni's famous garlic-butter shrimp without driving to the North Shore. Sure, it's not the same experience, but you have the convenience of bathrooms where you can wash up afterwards and can grab a coffee and ice cream for dessert, if you're still hungry. If you haven't been, this is a must try. It is an impossible amount of butter and garlic that goes into each plate. The shrimp are cooked shell-on, but you can peel them if you please. I wish they sold a bottle of their spicy sauce so I can take it home to SoCal. We only waited about 10-15 minutes for our order and got to sit in an available seating.
