Thanks fellow Yelpers for recommending Giovanni's restaurant! It's right off the main highway in the Vons Shopping center and from my recent experience, appears to be a local fave. We arrived 30 minutes after they opened and there was already a good number of people there. We sat in the bar area so hubby could watch the football game where we were immediately greeted and our drink orders taken. We asked for dinner suggestions and the server mentioned they were popular for their pizza, homemade meatballs and chicken parmesan. We decided to share a small sausage and meatball pizza and also share their chicken parm which came with a delicious minestrone soup and spaghetti with marinara. So glad we ordered a side of meatballs because they were delicious! There were definitely hints of Parsley in this moist and flavorful treasure. I normally don't care for marinara sauce but really enjoyed Giovanni for its depth and little kick of heat. Pizza was excellent and made with what seemed to be a homemade crust. Have a big party on a carb-loading mission? Order the Mammoth sized pizza which is 19" in diameter and claims to serve 5-6 people! We ordered the *Gio* (pesto, artichoke, mushroom, tomato, feta and mozzarella) and were even allowed to add chicken for $3.40 more. Man, they really load on the toppings to the max! The pizza itself also wasn't very greasy and the crust was moist. There were 5 of us and I feel like most of us ate at least 2 slices each before we called it quits with 3 slices remaining. In addition to pizza, they have a full-service bar. There were even some local brews on tap, with some pitcher deals to satisfy the indulgent dinner patron. Service was prompt, helpful, and friendly. My only gripe would be that the restaurant was super hot in the corner we sat in within the bar area. It honestly was way hotter inside than it was outside (it was raining all day). Good service, large enough to turn over tables rather quickly, friendly staff. We visited here this past weekend and ordered a medium pizza, half bbq chicken the other half the meatzza. We skied all day and we're starving and the medium was enough for us to indulge and take two slices home! The bbq chicken was good however the meatzza was where it was at. I think by Mammoth's food standards I would give this place a 2/5. What I will say is that we spent $65 for dinner for 4 people, and for Italian food that is SUCH a good deal. I had leftovers enough for two meals for myself so I was pleasantly surprised at how good of a deal we got. This rating is also based on the foods other than the pizza. However, two of my friends got food poisoning and it was the sickest they have ever felt. The food that we got here really just tasted like Olive Garden but a little worse. Every year when I was a kid, my parents would take us to dinner here after a long day on the mountain. I would wait with anticipation (there was always a long wait) of the cheesy goodness that was soon to be upon me. Now, coming here as an adult, the anticipation and excitement was no different. Except we came around 5:30 when there was no wait, and sat at a booth in the bar. They offer Happy Hour until 6pm and it features some great deals. But my bf and I got a little overexcited and went for the biggest deal on there: buy one large pizza, one pitcher of beer, and get a free servings of wings. Yes, we ordered this between 2 of us, and added on an order of Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and shrimp. Needless to say we didn't finish everything, including the beer. The pizza was delicious as ever, and the beer was refreshing. My bf enjoyed the wings, but I would definitely say to pass on the pasta. The tiny shrimp were probably frozen and pre-cooked, and the chicken seemed like it was pre-cooked and then frozen. Stick with the pizza, enjoy an ice cold beer, and leave it at that. Mammoth restaurants were only open for pickup over the weekend so my friends and I ordered some food from Giovannis. I split the antipasto salad and thai chicken pizza with a friend. The pizza had a lot of chicken which I appreciated. The salad also had a good amount of meat on it. I would have liked the pizza more if it didn't have corn and had spinach or some other veggies on it instead. The best thing was that they in fact DID deliver pizza to the lodge,* whereby the delivery fee was only 5$. That was at that moment invaluable after a full day of intense skiing and no desire to go shopping or to formally eat out. The rest was less than spectacular, remarkably pricy (20$ per 13" pizza) and nothing I would call authentic. To be honest, it doesn't even have to be authentic if at least it is great. But it becomes more than just a philosophical question as to what in fact makes a true pizza from a culinary standpoint. While all might concur that there is a base made of dough, there is nothing agreed on in regards to the toppings. But in my humble opinion formed by extensive Italian exposure, it should not be like a skittle party with random ingredients thrown onto it. Toppings should rather have some choreography of flavors. As long as you don't get the pasta. You're experience should be great. The noodles for that the vodka pasta I ordered almost sent me to the shadow realm - they were incredible firm and undercooked, but I was so tired I was just eating without caring. Pizza was great, hazy ipa was great, spicy bbq wings were mid, Caesar salad was fantastic and crisp. Oh, Man this place. One of the best pizza I have eaten. I am serious. I was in the mood for some pizza in the cold of Mammoth lake and we stumbled upon this place on Yelp. We got the "Masterpiece" and quite the masterpiece it was. Very well done crust, the correct amount of everything. I don't know how to describe a good pizza, you just know it when you eat it. The chicken wings were great too. I saved the pizza and ate it late that night and tomorrow morning. Such good stuff. In fact, I passed by a car on my way back to San Diego, about 200 miles away from this place and they had a box of Giovanni's sitting in their car. COVID review: this place is so popular that you can't get through the phone lines. We've called numerous times and still couldn't get through to anyone to place a pick up order. We eventually had to just go there just to place an order and come back. The pasta was subpar. We got vodka sauce fettuccine and ravioli. The sauce was inconsistent. It was watered down to the bottom with some chunks of tomatoes at the top. I guess if you barely like sauce on your pasta you'd like it. The best thing here was the garlic cheese bread. That's the only thing I'd go back here for. It'd be a great update if they had an online ordering system to help support their busy business. read more

You can never go wrong with pizza. Me and my partner are on a summer road trip and we stopped in Mammoth along the way. Giovanni's was the first pizza place to come up when we searched for dinner. We shared a ceaser salad and a medium "Gio's" pizza. I already knew this place was going to serve me delicious pizza because A.) They used those red plastic diner cups, B.) Their pizza named after the pizza parlor itself involves artichoke. Everyone with a brain knows that's a pizza with artichoke is already classified as a delicious pizza. IDGAF! The pizza was amazing and the ceaser salad had very crunchy yummy croutons. I didn't catch my waitresses name but she did business quick with us and I appreciated the hustle. Not sure what's going on, but they only do take out but have a large dining room. We ordered take out. I was very disappointed in my baked eggplant. Was very overcooked. Outside of the eggplant hard to cut and chew, and parts almost leathery. Sauce was dried up and noodles tasteless. My bf got the chicken parmesan. Hardly any sauce and not any flavor. Giovanni's Pizza was the perfect place to pick up dinner (and have leftovers for lunch the next day) while we couldn't eat at any restaurants due to Covid-19. It is located in the shopping center next to the Vons grocery store but on the far end by Meridian Blvd. There was plenty of parking while we waited for our pizza and we were so hungry we actually ended up eating it in the car after we got it (since the dining room isn't open - they are doing take out only due to Covid-19). We actually saw a ton of other people waiting in their cars then putting on their masks to go in and get their pizza then coming out and eating in their cars too. The parking lot had tons of room and we were able to spread out with parking spaces between cars. Giovanni's did a great job making us feel safe with Covid-19 because we called in the pizza, they told us a pick up time and then we waited in our car until that time and then when we went inside they had markers on the floor to help people stay 6 feet apart and they had signs and made everyone wear a mask who came in the store and the employees all wore masks and gloves too. Since the dining room was closed they had a big area to wait in if you entered the store before your pizza was ready. I literally only had to wait 1 minute until I got my pizza. It was super safe and easy. Also you pay when you get there but it was all contactless - I just slid my own credit card into the credit card machine then you can get a receipt (or not) but no one else touched my credit card. I felt very safe and all the other patrons were respectful. We ordered a custom half pepperoni and half mushroom which was delicious and they were generous with the toppings. However, our favorite pizza was their signature namesake pizza Gio's which was made with pesto sauce (not the red tomato) that had artichoke, mushroom, tomato, feta and mozzarella.
