Cute knock about Italian place in Mammoth. I came here with my love with specific dietary restrictions. (Whole30...no gluten, no dairy, no added sugar...) which is tricky. The server worked with me and was able to get me some chicken wings with olive oil and salt and pepper only which was perfect. My love ordered a small pizza. She said it was just okay. Sauce was kinda bland to taste and pizza was just average. I loved the ambience--casual ski town ambiance! Families, friends, and couples can be found here ordering pizzas, pastas, wings, and the like. When we go back to mammoth, I'm sure we will be here again. Do it! read more

This Is definitely the go-to spot for pizza in Mammoth. We have always been lucky getting a table fairly quickly here, even on holiday weekends...I suspect because a lot of folks order take out. I love the menu. We love the pizza (and there are lots of choices of crusts, sauces & toppings) but if you're not in a pizza mood, there is a nice selection of salads and pasta entrees. The kids decided against pizza (whaaaaat???) and split the shrimp scampi. It was garlicky (according to the 10 & 12 year olds). but still received high marks. We shared a really nice spinach salad and substituted the balsamic dressing instead of the bleu cheese (just our preference) and that was nice too. I have a lot to say so I'll try to make this straight to the point: I have been coming here for years. A lot of places in Mammoth attempt to do something fancy, but when I've been snowboarding all day and staying in a condo or hotel, I just want a comforting tasty meal. That's what Giovanni's offers. Cheesy bread is fabulous. Dinner salad is amazingly refreshing I could eat 3 whole ones myself. Spaghetti & meatballs is traditional & flavorful (slightly watery this time but usually great). We love Giovanni's pizza! They are the best place in Mammoth to get pizza. We had a gluten free pizza with pepperoni and sausage, a Medium 13 inch pizza with pepperoni and mushroom and a fantastic large Greek Salad. Everything was very fresh and excellent. The Hostess and Owner, Victoria does an amazing job seating people and making sure everything is running smoothly. Our server, Brandy was the best! She had lots of tables, but was very attentive. Great local pizza for Mammoth. They accidentally misunderstood our order, however when I called after bringing it all the way back to our vrbo...they said they would remake the pizza without charge. We went twice in the five days we were in Mammoth it was just that amazing. We've been searching desperately for something similar back home without luck. You get what you expect for, decent fresh Italian dinner, nothing fancy, but good Italian. Each of the entrees comes with either soup or salad, the minestrone soup is very good, lots of fresh vegetable. we took the Ravioli in marinara sauce but I would switch to white sauce instead, The meat lasagne was a success, generous with meat The penne Bolognese was dry and the pasta was overcooked, I was hoping to replace it but the kitchen and the crew was supper busy that evening ... There's not that many restaurants in Mammoth, which to be fair is not that big a town, and given the high concentration of American tourists... ... well you get a number of pizza-Italian places, although really, pizza seems to be the thing. They do a decent job in a casual/bar environment, with a few TVs and a few arcade games for the adults and kids respectively, and the food is a cut above fast food into casual. These days they're completely swamped most of the day so don't even bother to call if you don't get through the first time or two, just drive over and place your order, and be prepared to wait an hour. Oh yes food. It's perfectly adequate. Given how limited things are in Mammoth, and the crowd they cater to, perfectly adequate is about as good as it gets. read more

The same night we were unable to go to Gojira Ramen because they only took online reservations and our T-mobile network phones didn't work in Mammoth, we drove around and found Giovanni's. The relative busy-ness at the door suggested to us that this was a good place. After all restaurants are busy for a reason right? Well it was busy enough that we didn't want to wait an hour or more to be seated so we opted to order to go. We chose a medium margherita pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Pretty basic. The price was very reasonable and so was the wait, just under 30 minutes. The cheese on the margherita pizza was good but somehow the tomatoes and basil were a bit lacking. I'd say I've had better dough too. The pepperoni was as expected (what could go wrong?) but same issue with the dough. So all in all, it was good enough for a hungry pack. We perused the yelp reviews and were hungry for pizza, so here we are. We arrived about 5:30pm on a Friday in late September. It was not too busy and we chose to sit in the bar area. The place has a cool welcoming feel to it. There are various pictures of the local scenery that are gorgeous. They have happy hour specials everyday of the week from 4 to 6 pm. The menu has soups, salads, pasta, italian entrees and pizza. They even have a small salad bar. There are about 12 beers on tap and they also have cocktails. We each ordered a drink and a large pizza, the meatzza, which includes spicy sauce, pepperoni, sausage, canadian bacon, breakfast bacon and mozzarella. The pizza was really good and we loved the spicy sauce. Our server and the bartender, Luke was very attentive and also seemed to know all the locals. Overall a great experience and we would highly recommend! read more

Oh man bottomless sodas, huge pizzas with perfect crust and tons of toppings. I wasn't a fan of the boneless wings and the sauce was not fir me but everyone else ate em‍. It seems like they're always busy, but it's definitely worth the wait ( and the wait never seems long). Mammoth Lakes is a small tourist town with a few dining options. This spot fit our needs for a warm dinner while we were there. The food was okay but the service was disappointing. Vegetarian pizza 5/5: delicious crust, decent topping, lots of cheese Chicken BBQ pizza 5/5: same delicious crust, great combination of toppings Cheesy bread and garlic bread 5/5: generous appetizer servings and delicious Fettuccine Alfredo with vegetables 2/5: lacking seasoning and sauce. It looked and tasted sad. We also got the house salad and Greek salad. They were fresh and good. The worst part was our server. She seemed to have gotten annoyed at our chaotic ordering (we were a big family of 7) and walked away while I still trying to ask for drinks. It's rude to walk away while someone is still talking to you- that's not even a customer service expectation, that's just common courtesy. Then, while we were eating I asked for another ranch. She had given us only two for our hungry group. When I asked she questioned that I wanted it. She said "you still have two here" even though they were almost empty. How can you dictate or question what someone needs? We were a large group, hungry post hike, and we had a mix of strict vegetarians and non-vegetarians! It's silly considering I just wanted some extra ranch? She really lacked courtesy and understanding. I am pretty understanding of people who work in customer service since I work in customer service too. But this wasn't okay, and shouldn't ever be. When someone speaks to you, you pay attention or acknowledge. When someone asks for something, you don't just imply that they shouldn't be asking for it (especially for ranch?!). Tbh, if you want to dine in somewhere, go somewhere else. If you really want their pizza, then just take it to go. read more

The food was a 4*--we really liked the spicy Thai with chicken. Don't be steered away by the word "spicy"--even my wife liked it and she's not into "spicy". The reason for the mark down is that the poor driver for our delivery is not being given detailed addresses by whomever takes the order from the customer on the phone. Delivering in a blizzard (thank you for letting me stay off of the roads), he was extremely frustrated that he was just told "juniper springs # ***" and not the specific complex--3 times in one day!!!. Juniper springs resort has three separate condo complexes not connected--(juniper, sunstone and eagle run). We specifically told the girl when we ordered "eagle run at juniper springs resort". She seemed to be listening as she then asked the unit # and we gave it. The driver called frustrated (luckily from outside as the cell phone doesn't work in any of the garages) and we steered him to the proper complex (eagle run) and met him in the garage with a nice tip as he was fit to be tied with the lack of directions from his co-worker. I hope Giovanni's management reads this and addresses this issue--we don't want to lose delivery service in such a big snow year and we sympathize with the driver doing his best in a blizzard! read more

I went snowboarding during MDW and there were a few people in our group that wanted to get lessons first. When we met up with them at the end of the day, they said that it was too late for lessons, so they went to eat instead LOL. They went here for some pizza and, so there was one slice left and I got to eat it! It had pepperoni, mushrooms, and red bell peppers with peperoncini's on the side.
