Beware. I don't know where all these reviews are coming from. This is my first review ever on Yelp. I am extremely disappointed. I paid over $20 for horrible food that I threw away. This place has nothing to do with normal pizza or Italy. Its a joke. The pizza was horrible. I asked for a simple margherita and it was without tomato sauce, instead they put tomato slices. Ask the chef to google the recipe for this simple pizza. The dough was awful. The pizza was greasy and tasteless with some horrible cheese. Horrible. Came here again post COVID. We had a tasty alfredo, they have a primavera option that is full of veggies. Also got one with mushrooms. Kid had spaghetti and meatballs and liked it. We have been to Mammoth 2 times and both times we have gone to Giovanni's. The food is amazing. We ordered the cheesy bread and Chicken Parmigiana with spaghetti. The plate of food was so big my husband and I had to share it and we still couldn't finish it. I am a New Yorker so I am very picky when it comes to Italian food. you can't go wrong when eating here. The service is great and the ambience is nice but not really the best food out there for Italian. I didn't try their pizzas but we tried their cheesy bread, caesar salad, shrimp scampi and truffles & mushrooms ravioli. Only things that were good were the salad and the cheesy bread. The shrimp scampi had no salt or any flavoring, really and only tasted of garlic, and for heaven's sake, when will restaurants stop putting the shrimp with the tail in pastas!! And the truffles and mushrooms ravioli had no taste of truffles in them whatsoever! And again no flavoring. Just boiled raviolis as they are. We were at Vons and shopping hungry, never a good idea, and came to the conclusion that we had a hankering for pasta. Driving back and making our own was too much trouble but it turns out that Giovanni's is in the same shopping center and they have pasta. Yay! We decided to place an order to go and selected the Spaghetti with Bolognese, the Vegetable Lasagna, and the Baked Eggplant with penne pasta The bolognese had a thick tomato based meat sauce which was quite good. The vegetable lasagna was cheesy, well put together, and mildly spiced. The eggplant was breaded and fried to a crispy outside and then combined with a tasty tomato based sauce. This was served with a penne pasta that was well cooked. The eggplant was the favorite of our choices with a combination of flavors that was excellent. I have to add that the people working behind the counter, taking and preparing all the orders, were very friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our first visit to Giovanni's and glancing around at other parties while we were waiting convinced us to try the pizza next time we're stop by. we came here long weekend because we are visitors and just want somewhere to grab dinner at. the service was very slow. one bathroom per gender so be ready to wait 10+ minutes to wash your hands. waitress had a major attitude as well as the other lady worker owner whatever she was. we were a big party so i understand the frustration, although the waiters attitude was way too fake. if you don't like your job quit! food was bland and tasteless, do yourself a favor and do not get pasta or garlic bread. wings and pizza were doable. read more

I always eat pizza here when I visit Mammoth. Their Gios pizza is my favorite. This place is always packed with customers. Although I always take it to-go, the pizza are still very good. During my most recent visit they messed up my order by giving a medium pizza when I ordered a large . But, they made up for it by giving us another small pizza with the medium pizza so that the pizza would not go to waste. I had been in Mammoth Lakes for a week for a geobiology field trip and to tonight was my last night. I had heard good things about Giovanni's from my brother so I decided on having dinner here on my last nights stay. I made the right decision about eating here. When I walked in at 6 p.m. on a Monday it was busy. I asked the lady at the counter if I could sit at the bar and she said yes. I asked the bartender for a local IPA on tap and a menu. It did not take long for me to make my decision. I ordered a small pizza with regular crust, spicy red sauce with meatballs and sausage. Man oh man was this pizza eye crossingly delicious. The regular crust was thin and crispy. The meatballs and sausage was juicy and flavorful. At first I thought that I would not be able to finish the whole small pie but with each slice I ate I had to grab another until my plate was empty. A friend suggested Giovanni's for pizza when in the Mammoth area. We were not disappointed. My girlfriend loves artichokes so she wanted the Gios pizza. The Pesto sauce base gave it a different flavor. Hubby wanted the Masterpiece because it came with pepperoni and sausage. His 2 favorites! Overall, we like the Gios better because it had more flavor. It's been amazing to see business adapt during Covid. Staying in mammoth this weekend and finding Giovannis was amazing !! This place really has it together from the quality of their product, to the quality of the staff and the quality of their operations! We placed an order and expected a 45 min wait to pick up but to our surprise they said 20 mins. We stopped by to pick it up and it was perfectly ready to go and the set up they have in place is by far one of the best I've have seen! The food was every bit some of the best pizza!! Got wings from this restaurant for lunch one day. We got 10 volcano wings and 10 regular hot wings. They were both super good. The volcano wings were just a little bit spicer than than the regular hot wings, but it wasn't very noticeable. There was enough ranch that came with the wings so we didn't need to order any extra. The wings came with celery but my boyfriend hoped they would come with carrots as well. They have raised their prices recently so the pictures of the prices on Yelp are incorrect. We were craving pizzas while visiting Mammoth Lakes and decided to check out Giovanni's. We sat ourselves in the sports bar area. The staff was friendly and gave you just the right amount of attentiveness. Our drinks and pizzas came quickly after we placed our order. I loved the Italian food here. They have things my toddler will eat and great eggplant parmesan. Very kid friendly restaurant. They brought her these cool Wix sticks which are a neat distraction toy for kids. They twist these different colored sticks to make different things like bracelets and glasses. As a parent, this was great! I could keep her busy and have my glass of wine and raviolis. I think it is great food for anyone. But if you have a child, it is a godsend. read more

The service was good, the restaurant was very clean, and the food was nothing special. HH ordered pesto pasta with a meatball and I ordered shrimp scampi. We have to dine here every year when we visit Mammoth as tradition and the food is exceptional every time. Whether it's the lasagna or pasta, it is comfort food that warms you up in an instant. Personally, I am a huge pizza lover and always stick to their specialty pizzas. Their mammoth sized option can feed 6 people easily or two people if they are hungry, hungry after a day of shredding on the mountain. Even taking leftovers home and oven baking it does not affect the deliciousness of Giovanni's food. Another thing to note is the attention and experience of the waiters. Waiting many tables at once is a difficult task and furthermore, remembering to refill water and drinks is another trait that is often skipped during peak hours. Here at this restaurant, we have never had that problem. Being my favorite pizzeria, I always look forward to dining here when skiing and snowboarding at Mammoth! read more
