Been are "go to" place for a while but this last time the pizza was overly salty. Overall the pizza was just OK. I was pretty disappointed

O-m-g!!! Service was unbelievable and the food was great too! The salad bar is bomb.com. the pizza was great and they had amazing recommendations! Loved they let us do half pesto and half sauce. Bartenders were on point - my drink was never empty! After a day of shredding and burning calories this is a top notch spot. Very local friendly as well. Everyone knows that up in the mountains it is really hard to find some good food. Most of the time when you are up here, it all taste soo soo bad that you just want to throw it away. Well Giovanni's is not at all like that. In fact this place blows many pizza places out the door. If you crave pizza with a lot of cheese and good amount of sauce..come here and try it out. It is located in the same plaza as Von's. A party of two ordered an entire large pizza half with mushrooms and the other half with with pepperoni. We kept eating slice and slice and after all of it we only had three slices left. It was just that good! Our service was spectacular, our waitress was soo on top of it with our drinks and getting us all we needed to enjoy our food. Got wings from this restaurant for lunch one day. We got 10 volcano wings and 10 regular hot wings. They were both super good. The volcano wings were just a little bit spicer than than the regular hot wings, but it wasn't very noticeable. There was enough ranch that came with the wings so we didn't need to order any extra. The wings came with celery but my boyfriend hoped they would come with carrots as well. They have raised their prices recently so the pictures of the prices on Yelp are incorrect. We've had take out pizza here a couple of times. It's all well and good - what you'd expect. We do like the fact that they offer a wheat crust option and have a pretty decent spinach salad with a gorgonzola/Italian dressing. What you should know is they have this out-of-this-world apple pie. It is homemade by someone who works at the restaurant and displayed in see thru take out cartons at the take out counter (I presume it is also in the dine-in menu). We have to dine here every year when we visit Mammoth as tradition and the food is exceptional every time. Whether it's the lasagna or pasta, it is comfort food that warms you up in an instant. Personally, I am a huge pizza lover and always stick to their specialty pizzas. Their mammoth sized option can feed 6 people easily or two people if they are hungry, hungry after a day of shredding on the mountain. Even taking leftovers home and oven baking it does not affect the deliciousness of Giovanni's food. Another thing to note is the attention and experience of the waiters. Waiting many tables at once is a difficult task and furthermore, remembering to refill water and drinks is another trait that is often skipped during peak hours. Here at this restaurant, we have never had that problem. Being my favorite pizzeria, I always look forward to dining here when skiing and snowboarding at Mammoth! read more

Came here because our choices were very limited. All places with TVs were packed with folks watching the baseball playoffs. The service was good, the restaurant was very clean, and the food was nothing special. HH ordered pesto pasta with a meatball and I ordered shrimp scampi. My meal came with a Caesar salad that was a bit heavily dressed. The scampi was okay- perhaps a bit heavy on the garlic but quite edible. HH said his meatball wasn't rocking his world. Too spicy. Neither of us were able to finish as the portions were generous. We each had a glass of wine with din er from a very limited selection. It's hard for me to have to give an establishment a 1 star. I came here for lunch while on a long weekend get a way. I ordered penne pasta and a medium size pizza. Neither had a taste worth Bragging about. The pasta was dry, flavorless The pizza wasn't far behind. I've had more taste from a frozen pizza joat home I came due to the high reviews. Pizza was ok. Dough is left thick so you get thick bread slices with tomato sauce. Flavor was good and if you like thick pizza than this is for you. Otherwise not the best. Wait time is crazy! We were craving pizzas while visiting Mammoth Lakes and decided to check out Giovanni's. We sat ourselves in the sports bar area. The staff was friendly and gave you just the right amount of attentiveness. Our drinks and pizzas came quickly after we placed our order. My hubby and I had the small Oriental and Spicy Thai specialty pizzas. Both were very tasty, lots of chicken. The crust was very good, not greasy. The Small is a perfect individual size. I loved the Italian food here. They have things my toddler will eat and great eggplant parmesan. Very kid friendly restaurant. They brought her these cool Wix sticks which are a neat distraction toy for kids. They twist these different colored sticks to make different things like bracelets and glasses. As a parent, this was great! I could keep her busy and have my glass of wine and raviolis. I think it is great food for anyone. But if you have a child, it is a godsend. read more

I really don't enjoy writing negative reviews, however, what's the point of customizing your pizza to your liking if you're going to get it to theirs. Has always been our "go-to" pizza joint in Mammoth. We do miss the dine-in experience w/ the delicious pasta, superb pizza, salad bar, and cold local draft beers. However, Giovanni's has adapted well to these wicked Covid times. They are a well oiled machine from taking the phone order, "to one way in, one way out," to accepting payment (pay and move to the left), and to handing over the GOODS! Giovannis has really good pizza. Highly recommend the Masterpiece with spicy sauce add roasted garlic. The salads and fettuccini Alfredo are also good. This is more of a mammoth locals spot and they have really good lunch specials. The people that work their are friendly. We usually sit on the full service side with our kids or get takeout. The other side is order and sit down. If you want takeout in a snow storm, order early. It gets really popular. read more

This was one of the two places in town were they only did pizza,wings,salad Exclusively. We got a combo and pesto pizza (they both have signature names but that's what they essentially are). The wait was about 35-40 min for take out which is typical for 5pm on a Sunday in a ski town. People were outside ,hiking, mountain biking and swimming in lakes. The pizza was awesome !! They did not skimp on the toppings but they did tho overboard which is nice. The sauce was great on both sides and the crust had a distinct well baked smell! Highly recommended! read more

A little pricey but the food was good ( with the exception of it being luke warm) Nothing was hot but the pizza did have plenty of toppings and the pasta was good, just wish it would have at least been warm. The wait was an hour so it probably just sat out before it was delivered. They forgot my garlic bread and we waited another 30 minutes for it to be delivered, however we were already done eating and should have just got a refund for it. Stopped by Giovanni's today since I am staying at Mammoth Lakes for a few days. I haven't been able to dine in a restaurant for months due to Covid-19 so this was refreshing to say the least. The waiters were all super welcoming and were all obeying CDC requirements and wearing masks which I appreciated!I built my own pizza: small, regular whole wheat, white sauce, chicken, black olives, red onions, jalapeños, and spinach. BEST PIZZA in town, and super reasonable prices for drinks and food. Service is great, and employees are happy to serve you/appreciative of your business. My wife and I will no longer go to Johns Pizza after they raised their prices on everything (e.g. 3% fee to use your debit/credit card). We so happy we found Giovanni. Great pizza! Got the Mammoth with black olives, garlic, and mushrooms. Yes the toppings are nearly $4 each but they dump the toppings on! I've got pizza for the next 3 days, lol. The crust was really good. My wife had the gluten free pizza and said it was good. Not the best crust she's had but certainly good enough. The Caesar salad was great too. Severely disappointed. We love the Stove for breakfast and found out they own Giovanni's as well so we thought the quality of food would be up too par but we were extremely wrong. The "fettuccine Alfredo with chicken" tasted like the sauce was microwaved and the "chicken" was disgusting and our stomachs hurt from the pre cooked looking frozen Tyson chicken chunks that came from a bag. The minestrone soup didn't deliver as well and felt like I could get a canned soup that was better. The one star is because I have too and atleast the staff was friendly.
