Been coming here for years this is the last time. I have dealt with the overpriced food, slow service/ sometimes bad, and long wait times while restaurant is empty. Ordered a pizza before hand because their food takes a long time and walked there as i live down the street w my family. When we got there not one person was on the patio we went to sit and eat our pizza we just ordered only to be told we cant eat at the restaurant even outdoors because thats for servers? Wow, I'm not sure how I've overlooked reviewing this place, but here goes. Please keep in mind that this is a pre-Covid review. So this is my gold standard place that I judge all other Mediterranean food by. I have yet to find someone that does it as good as Giuseppe 's. The pizza of course is good too, as are the pasta dishes, but if you're gonna try this place for the first time, definitely try the Mediterranean menu. I would say the chicken soltani is a fave as it has a chicken and koobideh (kofta) kebab, but if you wanna try something different, definitely go for the chicken fesenjan (and yes, the waitress was nice enough to not laugh at my pronunciation). The basmati rice is perfect in these dishes as well as the grilled veggies. Upon reading some recent reviews, it seems like Covid ordering can be a mess here, but you have to remember that this is a mom and pop operation and I'm sure the husband and wife team are doing the best they can, so try to extend a little bit of grace some the food is good enough to forgive some error. Update: Well maybe I should have gone with the wrong stew again. This time I got the stew I was supposed to but it was nothing like I expected. You couldn't see the yellow lentils because they were overcooked. Eggplants were undercooked and not easy to eat. Their kebobs are good I should've not gone for stews at all. This is probably one of the most unusual fusions combining a menu of Persian and Italian Plates! The name would never suggest that this place serves up some great Persian dishes. I came here looking for Persian Cuisine, and was surprised to see their extensive Italian menu. Despite the Italian menu, I was there for the Persian food. The location is located at the top of Euclid Ave at the base of the foothills tucked away in a small strip mall with a cleaners. Unless you live in this area, you probably wouldn't go to this area looking for a restaurant. When you approach the restaurant, the entry door is closest to the patio area. Once you walk in, you are basically in a small waiting area sharing space for picking up take out and the kitchen traffic. The decor is quite interesting, and closer to a Persian decor than Italian. The restaurant looks a little worn down, although it is clean. The noise level is on the higher side, but not disruptive. I had reservations, and when I entered to check in, it took 15 mins before I was able to literally corral a server to help seat our group. As I was waiting, the activity of food coming through the waiting area and people picking up their takeout made me wonder if this was going to be a good place. Once we were seated, everything changed, the servers were quick, polite, and attentive. They quickly bring a warm basket of pita bread, which is delicious. We ordered Dolmeh, and it was served warm, it was also delicious. Our table ordered all different plates, and we were served within a reasonable time. The food was authentic, and full flavor, and the Basmati rice was light, fluffy, and tasty. In addition, they offered some nice affordable bottles of wine and selection that will partner with both cuisines nicely. Although, their Persian dishes are limited, I would most certainly recommend eating here. If you've never had Persian food, this restaurant has been a hidden gem for years. I've been here probably 100 times. Although not in recent months. The last time I went I did see some different faces. The owner that usually walks around, was nowhere to be seen. I'm not sure, they might have changed ownership. Since we go for the Persian food, I can't comment on their Italian food. But we've brought friends that said it's very good. If you're in the neighborhood and want to try something a little different, get their chicken soltani. Their beef/lamb kabob (koobideh) comes with it too. Really good! read more

I'm leaving this review for our server a young men named Harry,this is our 8th time coming to this restaurant since my wife and i moved to the area last August, and we have been lucky that he has served us 5 out of the 8 times, and even tho we come because we love Persian food, his great service it's what has kept us coming back ,sadly i don't see any good reviews for him, and frankly i believe he absolutely deserves it ,not only is he always very professional,fast, courteous,but above all that, his impressive culinary knowledge, i find so refreshing that in this hidden restaurant they have a true  wine connoisseur,his wine reccomendations to pair with our meals have truly enhance our dining experience ,in fact i added all of his recommendations to my shopping list, I truly believe he could be a sommelier. Also we have seen him in a couple of occasions when he is practically working all by himself, we understand because of the labor shortages, and we were so impressed on how he was running up and down serving all tables,we still had a great dinner and even tho he couldn't chat much with us, our food was great and he is an impressive hard worker and his service is always fantastic He deserves 5 stars read more

Disappointed, tried this place for the first time. We had the lunch special (lasagna). The food was great but service wasn't. We had the male server who didn't come over to ask how we were doing. When service is great we make sure to show that by leaving a great tip. The only tip you're getting , check on your customers to see how they are doing. First time here. Coming out of church, the smell drew us in. The atmosphere is really nice. Great instrumental music playing in the background at the perfect volume. The service was good as well. The food was really good! We started with an appetizer platter that came with dolmas, hummus and cucumber yogurt dip. All were very flavorful. I am so disappointed in my dining experience tonight. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Upland. We have dinner here 1-2 times a week.I take many of our clients here for lunch as well. The food is great so this is why I'm so disappointed. Over the last couple of months the service has been in a full decline. There is some kind of disfunction going on with the servers. There definitely is not a standard protocol to follow when greeting the customers. On a typical night we go in and the servers just walk bye us with no acknowledgment like we are invisible. We are used to it so it doesn't really bother us. We over look the service as the food always makes up for it. But tonight is the absolute worst service to date. Our server took our order then we waited finished a bottle of wine waiting for our food still waiting we ordered another bottle of wine but they were out of stock on the 2nd bottle. I order a Pelegríno / Perrier and they were also out. They were out earlier in the week when we were there so apparently no one cares because they didn't restock. So we continued to wait for over an hour when our server came to the table and asked if we were ready for our check. Wow is all I can say she doesn't even realize that we didn't get our food. She seamed confused and went back to check on it but never returned. I talk to the manager it didn't seam like he knew what was going on and offered us a discount. In the end he didn't charge us for the bottle of wine. But I really don't think he understood what was going on. So I'm writing this in hopes that the management of Giuseppe's can fix the problem with the servers/ staff communicating with their customers and really put some effort into training the staff accordingly. This is a great place it just needs some help getting the right people to help run it. I've had great service in the past. I hope you guys can fix this. I'm just super disappointed. We come here often for take out, as we live nearby. Food is good, fettuccine Alfredo is my favorite. Their kabobs are flavorful and delicious. Only removed one star due to time it typically takes to get our food. But otherwise no complaints. read more

Went in for lunch. They were not very busy (only 2 tables full). Before even giving us any menus, the waitress asked what we wanted to order. It seemed like she was in a rush to get us out of there. She didn't even provide us with the lunch special menus (we had to ask). We ordered both Persian and Italian dishes, and the wait for the food was not too bad. The kabobs were pretty good, but the ravioli was absolutely drenched in marinara sauce, and on the menu it did not mention anything about having meat. About 10 minutes into our food arriving, she took one of our plates without asking (wasn't even halfway finished). In general the service was not good, the waitress was not friendly at all, and always seemed in a rush (even though the place was almost empty). She didn't even check on us to see how the food was. Very disappointed in this place and their service. I went there last night to celebrate my 10-year wedding anniversary with my wife. Girl who greeted us suggested that we wait for the window table because it had a great view. Other server said he would take care of the table and clean it up for us .disappeared for about 10 minutes, were we were approached by another young man who said that he would see this right away. We got to the table and the server attitude changed. He was very rude to us from the beginning and it only got worse. My wife ended up getting very upset so we decided to leave. Never ordered any food and only ended up paying for wine that we did not want. Shame on this place for almost ruining our celebration. My suggestion is you have a Stern talking to your staff about customer service and how to take care of them especially in this economy. I have been coming here for years now, my girlfriend brought me here and I have fallen in love with this spot. For starters we always get the cucumber yogurt dip with their pita bread. I recommend saving some of that dip for the rice that comes with their chicken kabob plate. It's always a delicious combination! Now my usual entree order is the chicken kabob but I would recommend any of their kabob plates! For dessert you can never go wrong with the Persian ice cream.
