Got the hot braut today...very disappointing...was long skinny with little flavor and the kraut was nothing more then soggy cabbage 0 flavor...do not recommend this..spent over $10.00 on a sandwich and meal that wasn't worth $5.00 in my opinion. Two others i was with Had a pastrami and the other had a roast beef which seemed like a good deal and looked decent.... would recommend for those but would give a minus 3 for the brauts....very disappointing since this is what drew me into the shop in the first place.....would have given lower star had i just been rating the Braut and kraut....... over all sandwiches may be good but the Braut's are a no go! My family has been going to the Globe Deli for 50 years and have experienced the turn over in ownership during this time. So happy to see Jason as the current owner and my very German mother and I will now be back to shop much more frequently (instead of driving to Old World!). An absolutely wonderful little deli and market, for German delicacies. A large imported beer selection and beautiful German meats. You can get a meal there or buy it to take home and cook yourself. I've been coming here all my life, and it's only recently that I started experimenting beyond the roast beef sandwiches and pickles. It's a deli slash small European grocery store.. We had a big breakfast so we were not hungry when we were in here.... However I was curious about the sandwiches they make here. Tons and tons of meat.. From sausage to cold cuts and stuff like that.. I am no expert on beef or pork but they have it all here.. I think that they may have some turkey which I would be game to try.. So anyhow the place is rad. They make homemade red cabbage here and potato salad and other stuff.. Basically it's all homemade which I find appealing. I bought something called Knodel which looks like dumplings. I wanted to try to make something German for dinner so I asked the chick that worked there about this thing called Knodel in Kochbeutein.. Apparently it is good and it is to be served with a gravy on top along with other sides. She suggested red cabbage and well I am not up for gas so I didn't buy any.. So, I bought the German gravy.. I did plan on making a German meal last night ..... BUT when I got and invite to Manpuku for dinner I had skip on cooking and go with Manpuku.. So, I plan on making my little German Knodel with Dunkle Sossen soon... I did buy and of course try some of the sweet stuff that they sell here.. The selection of sweets and cookies and chocolates are all so good.. Nothing like European chocolate. I bought a chocolate candy bar that has hazelnuts in it called Mozart.. Good stuff.. This place has been here for donkeys years. We just found out about it but it been here alonggggggg time. Small but quaint. If your from europe or ever been your gonna find alot of items here that will remind you of home or your trips abroad. We had lunch my wife had goulash and i had a pastrami sandwich. I was pleasantly pleased. Customer service was very, very helpful. Theres so much stuff in this store you have to make more than one trip. So i guess ill have to come back. read more

Another great Costa Mesa establishment bites the dust. $10 for a less then mediocre tuna sandwich and some of the worst potato salad I've ever had. I used to eat here all the time. Walked in out of curiosity around closing time on a Friday and the owners were nice enough to still serve me. Had a great chat while the food was being made -- got some bar suggestions, learned a bit about the community, then left with a Pastrami Reuben that (I shit you not ) was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. i used to walk here on my breaks when i worked at galaxy exchange a few doors down. the german ladies were always very sweet and helpful. i hardly ever got anything "real" to eat, usually just crackers/chips/chocolate and a drink. but it was a nice place to sit and spend 15 minutes every few days or so. i haven't been back since, but it's still there, so they must be doing something right! hahaha. read more

You can dine in their deli and be happily served by the charming & pleasant owners and staff. They also had Reissdorf (a German Kolsch) on tap that was crisp and refreshing. The owners are super friendly and helpful! I ordered 20 pork bratwursts and brotchen for my engagement party and they were all delicious. It's a small place but they carry so many cool German condiments, variety of hams, and wursts! The uncooked bratwurst only took 5-7 minutes and with German mustard and sauerkraut, lots of people at my party enjoyed them! I would definitely go through them again for another party, or if we just feel like having some wurst! read more

Went here hoping they had rolls for brats we bought from another place -should've bought brats from here; anyways I ended up buying more than just the rolls. If you want to dine-in they have some fantastic authentic choices - I'd recommend the Rouladen! If you want to shop you've got a host of great German meats and other goods! It wasn't quite what I expected since I was looking for a restaurant and found they are primarily a grocer but was ok with me. Also, the staff are super friendly and welcoming. There's no lack of German beers with a selection of more than 50 - although no alcohol consumption is allowed for dine-in so don't plan to have a beer at lunch (they don't have that license). so in my search of good sticks of dried/smoked meat, i found this place somewhat near me. I went in looking for landjager, the price was ok but i have found cheaper for the same amount. However, while i was there i saw they had a double smoked cabanossi, so i bought one and tried it out. i was going to munch on it while driving home but after the first bite, i ended up going back into the store for some more. Huge fan of German delis. I usually go to Mattern's in Orange. It took me 45 minutes to get 5 cold cuts and some cheese. With only one person ahead of me. Very nice but painfully slow. Disappointing but I will stick to Matterns. read more

I've lived in Costa Mesa my whole life and finally decided to make a stop here since I heard they sell German beer. From what I was told this is under new ownership. I haven't tried the food the but owners are super nice! They sell a pretty good selection of German beers. I bought some sweets and the owner was kind enough to hook me up with some goodies. I definitely recommend anyone and everyone to come by and support a small business and get some incredible German beer. My only regret is not coming here sooner :) read more
