Where do I start with the this place..... came here for my friends birthday and had to wait 17-22 mins just to get seated when the restaurant was not no where busy. Saw so many workers just standing around chit chatting. Even the guest who were already there were asking us what's taking so long lol after we got seated we still had to wait to help. The food was honestly so mid and little to no flavor. The sauces they use to marinate the food didn't even have a taste to it. Sadly I will never be coming back and this was my first time. Worst experience and the service is terrible!

I was craving Korean food and have been meaning to try Gogi Time for a while now. I decided to order takeout which is about a 15-20 min wait for delivery. I can't speak for the ambiance indoors but if you're driving / walking here, there is limited parking in front of the restaurant, as well as street parking nearby. The happy hour deals are great value here - I was able to redeem an offer on buy 1 get 1 free for fries, and a discount on the banchan. The portion sizes are huge for the value, which is great if you want to stretch it out to a couple meals! The fried egg, sautéed veggies, large scoops of rice and kimchi in the bibimbap made for the perfect, hearty meal. I loved the crunch of the veggies in the banchan as well - it's not too spicy if you're sensitive to it. The French fries were ok, but it was filled to the brim and came with both ketchup and sriracha. Overall, I'd love to try Gogi Time again!

Service was great. All the servers were on top of everything. The meats were great, good flavors. The kimchi pancake was great. The banchan was weird. Dry. Or like. Not marinated long enough? Like the marinade was just sitting on top of the kimchi. Would definitely return. Great service. I forgot to take a photo of the meats, Bad Bunny was performing ‍

Probably one of the worst meals I've had in Oakland. Got it delivered and the beef bulgogi had no seasoning or sauce on it. Straight up boiled beef. Out of 3 of us no one would eat it so we pitched it. The chicken wasn't good but it was edible. And the completely forgot the potstickers. Expensive and bad

Dave was very nice and very helpful.

The meats are tender and tasty. The side dishes specifically the Kimchi is a delight. The tofu soup was mild but delicious. I love the Beef Belly. Dave is very friendly and knowledgeable about the whole process and experience. His recommendations are great. The place is a nice size. It is very clean and the restroom was well stocked and tidy. The place was very unique and I love the decor. I really enjoyed my time here. I will definitely be back.

This place has definitely changed a lot since the last time I was here which was years ago during the pandemic. More than the ownership has changed. This review is for their a la carte menu because we didn't do AYCE. The server and host was friendly and accommodating which was the best thing I could say about our experience. The banchan was mediocre and the macaroni had a taste that reminded us of wasabi which was odd for a Korean place. Our chicken bibimbap had mushrooms that might be from a can, some zucchini strings and the rice was really mushy - not separate grains of rice or crispy as it should be for bibimbap. The kimchi stew was completely off - the flavor did not taste authentic at all, the veggies used just seemed like filler, there were legit 2 pieces of tofu only, all the pork pieces were 95% fat, and as mentioned the rice was just mushy. It didn't even have slices of actual kimchi in the stew. Just onions. We got a complimentary order of beef potstickers which my kids enjoyed but I had to tell them we didn't order it before we found out it's on the house. The bulgogi and the dumpling and rice cake soup were the better dishes. The soup was good but my kids did not eat the dumplings because they didn't taste good. Very few rice cakes (like the tofu in the stew). They didn't bring out the lettuce wraps which the menu says comes with the bulgogi until we asked for it. My passion fruit lime soju cocktail was good and one of the better parts of the meal. If you're coming here, I would recommend trying the AYCE if that is better than their a la carte menu options which are not authentic Korean fare here anymore. It looks like the ownership and staff have changed a lot since the last time I visited. I don't necessarily think it has to be Korean owned to taste authentic but they have to be true to the recipes for the cuisine: crispy rice for bimbimbap and actual kimchi not just the flavoring for the kimchi stew with more than two cubes of tofu. The place looked decent but their front host table was sticky. They did not put a cover on the grill on our table until we were putting dishes over it since we didn't order food to grill ourselves.

For reasons you may already know, this place reminds me of The Hungry Heifer, Norm's favorite restaurant on "Cheers" where his meal of choice was the "All You Can Eat Feeding Frenzy for Two". That was just for himself. This cavernous Korean BBQ spot offered something similar, the All You Can Eat meal for $39.99, where everyone at the table has to order it, children included at $22.99. They automatically added an 18% service charge and proactively discouraged leftover takeout. That's serious eating, and almost every other table went for the deal, and their tables were covered with meat and veggies on huge grills. Jamie W and I just couldn't commit ourselves to endless gluttony and focused on the A La Carte menu. Even so, the food added up, especially when beef was involved. First came the Banchan, ten little plates of Korean goodness, pretty standard but always a winning start (Photo 10). Jamie showed some discretion by ordering the $17 Stone Pot Dolsot Bibimbap, a hearty portion of spicy pork over rice with mixed vegetables and a fried egg (Photo 7). He deemed it decent and I concurred. I focused on the BBQ side of the menu and ordered the $35 LA Galbi Short Ribs. That was almost as much as the All You Can Eat deal. Quite a pile of short ribs arrived on a cast iron platter (Photo 8). It was a carnivore's delight especially if you like cleaning off beef bones. I realized later that the $35 price tag included the banchan and two large bowls of white rice (Photo 9), so Jamie benefited from my overindulgent order. Whether you go All You Can Eat or A La Carte, you won't go home hungry. FOOD - 3 stars...quantity doesn't equal quality unless that's how you roll...out of a restaurant AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...big place with a lot of hungry people SERVICE - 3 stars...pretty standard TOTAL - 3 stars...belly up to the grill! Headline: Best K-BBQ I've had outside of Seoul! "I've tried a lot of Korean spots, but this place is the real deal. The Galbi was incredibly tender and had that perfect smoky, sweet glaze. You can tell the Banchan (side dishes) are made in-house--the kimchi had the perfect crunch and ferment. The service was fast, and the atmosphere was so welcoming.

Really good food and service. They brought us a bunch of small bowls of veggies and tofu as soon as we sat down. The cocktails were really fun and good. I had the White Lotus. My daughter and I went and we weren't hungry enough for the large dinner. So we ordered some spare ribs and a noodle dish. It was a lot of food and we took some home to eat later. My daughter is gluten free and she had a lot of choices. It's on a nice street with interesting shops and restaurants. The service was very good too all in all I highly recommend this restaurant.

Decided to show up for dinner here, great service as last time. If yall like college football, this place has Saturday night games on their tv. Loved the corn cheese, the beef tongue and everything else! This place is so much fun and pleas bring your hunger because it's all you can eat! Definitely recommend

The only good and authentic tasting dish was the galbi. The menu is fairly limited for ayce. I generally go for brisket at ayce kbbq, but their brisket pieces are lean and tough. We tried to order several servings of brisket and other meats all at once, but they kept bringing us one small serving of each every time. The pork belly was average, but the galbi was the best on the menu. The banchan did not taste like authentic korean side dishes. We also noticed that we weren't served the same side dishes as other tables. They had additional side dishes like fish cake. We tried the kimchi pancake but there was little kimchi and alot of batter -- it was crispy though. The lettuce wraps were fresh. They provide a complimentary generic version of yakult at the end of the meal. The restaurant has a lot of graffiti outside. The servers were attentive and came to check up on us frequently. They have a lot of tables and reservations are available. **there is a mandatory 18% service charge applied to the bill**

The meat is pretty good and the price point is decent for the area! Those are the positives. The service is lacking - we ordered one bowl of rice five separate times and received...no rice. The tables around us did receive theirs though, which was confusing. Some of the fans don't work so it gets pretty smoky. Also, the bathrooms could use some TLC.

To cut to the chase; the KBBQ is alright, nothing special whatsoever. I'll keep this review nice and short. The restaurant itself is interesting. Does not have your typical KBBQ ambiance. Walked in and got sewed quickly which is a plus! However, once sat, it took about 15 minutes for anyone to come and assist us. There were not many tables filled at the time we went, so unsure of the hold up. When we got the menu, we were honestly disappointed. There was not a large variety of options and there were definitely some odd ones (like hot links?). The meat itself is ok, again nothing special. The quality was not bad but not great. The banchan is alright. Just mediocre food overall. There are a lot of great Korean restaurant and AYCE spots around Oakland and the rest of East Bay. I say save your time and give another place a shot!

First of all, my order was TO-GO. And let me tell you... when I got home and opened that bag, I was honestly blown away. My food was packaged with so much care, precision, and pride--it was neat, organized, and handled like it actually mattered. That alone told me everything about the level of service in that building. Candalen--YOU DID THAT. The attention to detail on my plate did not go unnoticed. You treated my food like it was being served in-house, and that speaks volumes about your work ethic and pride in what you do. Aaron--listen... that peach lemon drop??? BABY. That was my first time trying one and it was EVERYTHING. Smooth, flavorful, perfectly balanced--you made that drink an experience all by itself. I will be back JUST for that. I come for their brisket and my friend loves ribs so we went ahead and ordered combo plates to share. Mine was the brisket with a side of collard greens, she had the pork ribs, a hotlink with a side of Mac-n-cheese, & cornbread. For drinks we had lemonade and an Arnold Palmer. I'm not sure what has happened over the last few months but the quality of the food, the service and the expectation to pay and tip up front were very disappointing. The greens, Mac cheese, brisket and ribs were cold. The hotlink wasn't BBQ'ed it was pan fried. Everything tasted like warmed up leftovers and we will not return. For 2 of us to eat it came to $100 and we were not satisfied. The dining room is an attractive space, it was completely empty. The staff was unclear about what we ordered, had to be told to bring our drinks, bartender is also working as server and apologized for his uncertainty. I suggest this restaurant hire and train more staff if they intend to keep their doors open.

Order at the counter and sit and enjoy kind of place. It's decorated simply with a tv that was playing ufc and we were welcomed by Tim who was so warm and hilarious our entire visit. First thing I noticed was how fairly priced the place is. 1lb of brisket is 30 dollars, potato salad is 5 dollars and soda is 2 dollars (some places charge like 4 bucks for a can!) Ordered, sat down and enjoyed some convo with the order and our food came out in about 10min. If there's one thing to get, it's the brisket fries!! Oh my word, the sauce and cheese all go so well with the bbq. I like how their sauce has a kick to it and isn't overly sweet. The brisket was really tender and smoked well. I personally enjoy fattier pieces of brisket but I bet if I would've asked for those cuts he might've accommodated. The smoked potatoes salad is almost a must. Very unique style of potato salad and pairs well with everything. We noticed they also do catering, and the prices for that also look very reasonable. Would definitely considering using them for our next party!

After hearing so many people rave about Pig in a Pickle, I finally made the trip over to…read moreEmeryville, and I'm glad I did. This place is located in a food hall, so there are plenty of other choices. If you're looking for barbecue that focuses on the meat first and doesn't rely on drowning everything in sauce, this place deserves a visit. I ordered a plate with brisket, a pork rib, hot link, collard greens, a side of BBQ sauce, and a drink for Super Duper. Brisket Without question, this was the star of the meal. I specifically asked for the fatty point, and it absolutely delivered. The brisket was incredibly tender with a beautiful bark, plenty of rendered fat, and a deep smoky flavor throughout. It had just the right balance of salt, pepper, and smoke without any one flavor overpowering the others. Honestly, this is the kind of brisket you don't even need sauce for, but I couldn't resist trying it with their BBQ sauce anyway. Pork Rib I ended up with an end piece, which can sometimes be a little dry, but that wasn't the case here. It was surprisingly tender and packed with flavor. The smoke came through nicely, and the seasoning had a great balance of pepper and salt. It wasn't falling off the bone--which, in my opinion, is exactly how properly cooked barbecue should be--but it pulled cleanly with each bite. I'd absolutely order the ribs again. Hot Link I've had plenty of hot links that were overly dense or aggressively spicy. These weren't. The casing had that satisfying snap when you bit into it, and the sausage itself was juicy and flavorful. The heat level was very approachable--enough to notice but never overwhelming--allowing the smoky, seasoned meat to remain the focus. A really well-made sausage. BBQ Sauce I mixed the mild and hot BBQ sauces together, and that ended up being the perfect combination for my taste. The mild sauce added sweetness and tang while the hot sauce contributed just enough kick without masking the flavor of the meat. That combination complemented everything on the tray exceptionally well. Collard Greens The collard greens were another pleasant surprise. They were well-seasoned, flavorful, and not overly spicy. The greens still had some texture without being tough. My only complaint is that I wish there had been a little more smoked meat mixed in. The flavor was definitely there--I just wanted a bit more of the meaty goodness. Overall, Pig in a Pickle impressed me from start to finish. The quality of the smoked meats really stands out, especially the brisket, which was easily one of the better briskets I've had in the Bay Area. The rib was excellent, the hot links were flavorful without being overly heavy, and even the sides held their own. I'll definitely be making the drive back to Emeryville to work my way through more of the menu. If the rest of their offerings are anywhere near as good as this tray, I can see why they've built such a strong reputation. Highly recommended--especially if you're a brisket lover. Simply Wonderful!!

Got a hot link sandwich. 3/4 lb of brisket. Med potatoes…read moresalad, and med Mac and cheese. Everything was so disgusting. The hot link wasn't even spicy and was way too much smoke flavor. There was this weird meaty gristly thing in the potato salad which literally made me puke. I'm always looking for the next bbq spot. But could have done without this one. The service was good the food was terrible. Honestly $80 dollars horribly spent. Don't believe me.. go experience it for yourselves
