The kids love the pizza and fries, I know not much to say about the kid options but the never complain when we say we're going to Gohan. First off, the AC was "broken". From the reviews I read before writing this, it was "broken" well before we were here. Second, the food had dropped drastically in quality, in particular, the crab legs. They totally cheapened out and bought the ends tips of the crab legs where there is little to no meat, and certainly zero flavor. Out of the pile they brought out, not one leg had the body of the leg, just the tips where no one eats. I even waited for a second batch to come out, perhaps the good ones were already picked out by other customers I thought, only to be highly disappointed with the same. They were the spiky rejects the distributor does not want so they were soggy, difficult to get into, and a slap in the face with freezer taste. Everything else was a scraping mediocre at best. Newly open buffet in Tracy. We went around 6pm and waited in line for about 20mins. Newly open so everything was very clean and bright. The layout is spacious, you don't feel cramped in and have a lot of room to walk around others. Temperature in the restroom was on the colder side, that's with us being sat on the east wall with the sun still hitting that side of the building. Food was good. Has your generic buffet foods with some of their own choice foods. The food was replenished very quickly, little to no wait on food. Some things I would say could be improved are: - more clear up robots. Everytime a robot came by for the disposal of plates, it was near full, by the end of our meals we have about 4-5 plates stacked up. The robot came by 3-4 times but it was too full to dispose of much. - this is probably because they just opened up but the hostess who sat us down forgot to explain anything to us hahah. Came here on Friday during dinner time and the place was 75% full with no wait. We were greeted by two friendly front desk staff who promoted us to pay before entering. Since we came with a toddler, the hostess offered us a corner table and brought in a high chair which was very considerate. The food options are plentiful ranging from salad bar, sushi bar, Hibachi grill, seafood galore, deep fried heaven, and American Chinese food. The dessert bar is also excellent, make sure to try their mini square coffee cake and ice cream, both A+ quality. For $26 per person, it definitely exceeded my expectations with the food quality, staff attentiveness, and overall cleanliness of the place. Our plates were cleaned at least 6 times without ever having to stack them, this is truly top notch service from a buffet establishment. Out of all the Chinese buffets in the area, I do have to say that so far, this one is on top. I've done a lot of roaming around hitting all the buffets in the 209 area and I've notice that all the Chinese places follow the same format and have the same recipes and selection. So I pretty much set out on a mission to see which one was the best. I know it's only been open for a short amount of time, but the place is very clean and everyone is on top of their job here. Because it's still so busy, the food has been very fresh and always moving and replenished. The food quality here is better than the rest I've seen and there are also a lot more options here. The sushi quality and variety is very good here for being a buffet. The fried chicken here is very flavorful and juicy. I really like the fried calamari. It has good texture, it's plump, and has a great flavor. Although I wish the shrimp cocktail was peeled here as it is at Beijing in Stockton, they are very easy to peel and the shrimp are bigger, which is a good trade off. The crab legs are very tasty as well. They have 4 soup options: miso, seafood, egg flower, and hot and sour. I've had the hot and sour and it is very good. I would like to see some broccoli beef, but they do have broccoli chicken. On the dessert end, fried donuts a awesome and I'm s sucker for the coffee cake. One thing I also like that's different here is the individual ice cups instead of the soft serve machine. There are chocolate, vanilla, and orange sherbet options. The beverage station is self-serve here, which I like so much more than having to wait for refills. There is a robotic cart that roams around the dining room, offering fortune cookies and utensils, which is something I haven't seen in any restaurant in the valley yet. I only see them in Livermore and Bay Area in general. The pricing here is split into lunch which ends at 3pm and dinner prices. The kid pricing is broken up into 3 different tiers separated by height. I guess I can see the rational in tall kids eating more, but that's not always the case. My nephew is only 11 and is as tall as me already, but eats very little. Overall, this is a very solid Chinese buffet and I'm glad that it's located very close to where I live and work. I first saw Gohan on TikTok and thought it looked pretty good. I've been disappointed by food reviews before but I tell you, this place did not disappoint. The sushi rolls were smaller than traditional rolls but that works so much better at a buffet. The flavors were excellent. Quite a lot of selection for a buffet sushi bar. There are so great classic dishes like general chicken and some surprising dishes like baked oysters. The cold crab and shrimp were good and plentiful, but the star of the show for me was the seafood boil. Tons of garlic which is a necessity for a boil. There were muscles, clams, shrimp, crawfish, crab, potatoes and corn. I didn't get to try the corn, but it looked so good. The boil was fresh and the dish was replenished every time I went back.
