If I could give it zero stars I would since when did orange chicken come with broccoli they added it to make it look fuller I ordered a house fried rice and it was gross had hardly any meat and one piece of shrimp 70 dollars for tiny servings of really crappy food it will be first and last time I ever go here read more

Excellent family owned authentic Chinese restaurant. Their reviews don't fit the "3.5 star" rule for Chinese restaurants but believe me, they have great food and ok service. There is a bit of a language barrier so there are some difficulties. The tried to run my card multiple times using the from zip code and made it get locked by the fraud dept so make sure they aren't doing that to yours! read more

Excellent, delicious, plentiful food. All the things you want when dining out. Just as important is the cleanliness of the place, from the dining area to the restrooms. Service is good, when it's really crowded, patience is a good quality in a diner. We usually are content to converse among ourselves. The Hughson location is one of six, if I remember right, all all owned by various family members. Our server, Wendy, was happy to share that the cooks are all trained to the main owner's culinary style and standards. I feel I cannot be enthusiastic enough for this wonderful restaurant! I normally write a review after I have dined and thought about my wording yet I am composing as I dine. The entreés I am enjoying look great and taste great; the greeting I received upon entering the establishment was very warm; the service outstanding. We decided to check this place out. Have yet to find a good Chinese place in Modesto. Hughson was only about 15 minutes southeast from a starting point of south Modesto. Figured we go across town and it takes more than that for other restaurants. We ordered Honey Walnut Prawns, pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, orange peel chicken and Mongolian beef and pot sticker appetizer. All had great flavor. The restaurant was half full and was your typical Chinese restaurant interior. Service was good, friendly and generally pretty quick. We would definitely go back. The location is not in a retail populated area. It is just in the edge of a neighborhood and next to an elementary school. read more

This place is so good! I just happen to find it when searching for new Chinese place. They are so fast with completing orders to go and in person. They have great customer service and they treat you like family. I drive a ways just to dine here forgoing other restaurants on the way. They just don't have delivery or door dash unfortunately. read more

It pains me to write this, but I have a responsibility to other patrons. Golden Bowl in Hughson was my "go to" for many years. In recent months, that opinion has changed. Of course the prices increased remarkably, which would be understandable in a world where the price of rice and chicken actually did rise. Their lemon chicken was my favorite. Now its mostly lemon breading with a little chicken thrown in for appearance sake. Also with the chicken chow mein, following suit. The portions are also remarkably smaller. I notice that in my little slice of the world, Chinese food, decent Chinese food, is basically non existent. I mean American Chinese food, which is far from authentic, but I like it, and guess I'll have to live without. read more

Went to Golden Bowl because of the compliments they received on Turlock' To Go's Facebook page. I took my daughter out to lunch and was greeted by a very friendly hostess/waitress as we entered the front door. We were quickly seated. The restaurant was about hall full and there was only one person working the floor. That Didn't make a difference because the service was exceptional!! We were offered drinks once we were seated and the timing to order and get our food was perfect. Our food came out hot and delicious. There are many good Chinese restaurants in Turlock but they need To go a long way to meet or exceed the service we got here. The restaurant was also spotless. This is the BEST Chinese food in Stanislaus County. The food is fresh and made to order. There is not a bad item on the menu. The owners are so friendly and kind. This is my favorite place for sweet and sour chicken with steamed rice. Crunchy white meat with a deliciously sweet and not too sour sauce. The staff works very hard getting every meal out as quickly as possible. I wish they were open on Monday's. read more

I found this place using yelp. I didn't know they have 4 other locations in the valley. I found the place in a different location in Merced coming back from Yosemite. I used to live in Los Banos ca and would drive to Merced just to get Chinese food because Ming's the best Chinese food in Los Banos closed it doors. I had to visit the location in Hughson because we live in Modesto now and I knew the food was good and I was right. I'm originally from San Jose ca and my go to is the Golden Buddha and was very similar. The Golden Bowl is my go to for Chinese food I recommend you give it a try. read more
