During this pandemic, my family has vowed to support our local restaurants by ordering food once a week for curbside delivery. This week we chose Golden Bowl. Our order was prepared quickly. We ordered chicken chow mein, bbq pork fried rice, broccoli beef, sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, and honey walnut prawns. We have two teenage boys who eat a ton, so having a lot of food is a must! The portions are plentiful which we appreciate. Most importantly though, the food is delicious! My favorites are the chow mein, rice and honey walnut prawns. So yummy! If you are looking for delicious Chinese food, we highly recommend Golden Bowl. Enjoy! read more

Food smelled good from outside so I placed an order. $48 for 4 entrees? I was ok well maybe the food will make up for the price. Big nope had 4 small containers. I can't find the chicken in both the chicken chow mein and almond chicken. The almond chicken was practically cubed veggies. The beef in oyster sauce was mainly onions 6 pieces of beef and some carrots too. The only dish to live up to it's name was the broccoli beef. The was 50% beef and 50% broccoli. Also noted no side of steamed rice, which most places include with entrees. Not worth going back to, modesto and turlock isn't far and have places averaging $8-10 an entree with much bigger portions and protein. read more

Can't go wrong here. Worth the drive if you don't live in Hughson. I've never had a single bad item. My favorites are the cream cheese wontons, wor wonton soup, bbq fried rice and orange peel ANYTHING. I love that they seem to use chicken breast, which isn't so fatty and gristly. Stopped at this place for the first time. I'm a Ceres resident but found the location via Yelp. I tried my typical combo from Chinese restaurants. Garlic Chicken, EXTRA spicy. I opted for chow mein Vs. fried rice. This combo came with two chicken tinfoil, was plenty of food for more than one person. Easily two people, but.... With flavors like this, who wants to share? I could taste the actual garlic in this garlic chicken. Though I asked for extra spicy, there was hardly any spice, that was disappointing but redeemable in flavor. Chicken tinfoil a+ juicy and tender. Fresh ginger taste. Probably one of the best I've had. Chicken chow mein... Decent size pieces of chicken. I loved that I could taste the smokiness from the wok. I personally love veggies due to the flavor and crunch they provide but this chow mein didn't have very many. Crab Rangoon wasn't overly sweet and I appreciate that this restaurant adds a special flare on how they are folded. They look like big tortellini. The dining area is SUPER small. There is maybe 9 tables and it's a bit awkward when you're trying to pay at the register. Sodas are in a can. Not fountain. Dirty dishes also right behind register counter which kind of threw me off. Location easily accessible. Plenty of parking around. I'll definitely be giving this place another try. read more

I usually like the food but the ladies working are very disorganized. Came in for dine in.. Was sitting for about 15 minutes and had to go to the front to get service for myself to place and order. When we went they were really busy and were afraid we might have to wait a long time for our food but they got it out in a very timely fashion and it was absolutely delicious! This is the best Chinese restaurant around. We drive from Turlock. They haven't missed a beat since the lock down, we often get take out and it's always excellent. We love the Mongolian beef, the chicken chow mien and the garlic chicken. The rice is great too. The place is always so clean and efficient. I highly recommend! read more

This food is absolute garbage. I got the #1 (fried prawns, sweet n sour pork, chicken chow mein. After waiting no less than 45 minutes in the restaurant (after waiting my 30 minutes at home on phone order), I came home to find that the fried prawns contained no prawns, and only tempura in the shape of shrimp. Furthermore, the chow mein is severely overcooked, and the sweet n sour sauce is coating my chow mein due to their piss poor styrofoam container not having separate compartments. Do yourself a favor and go to China cafe on geer Rd in turlock. It's sad that hughson has such a crappy Chinese food place. I would have thought the golden bowl would have improved their quality after switching to a bigger location. The following day, my family and I (including 3 yr old daughter) suffered from diarrhea as a result of eating this sorry excuse for food. read more

Staff was at our table several times refilling my tea and checking on us. The menu listed "Almond Chicken" so I asked if they could substitute Cashews and it was no problem. This is more of a question for others as well as the owners... why did I pay $25.35 for 2 entrees that cost 11.25each? I'm no math whiz but 11.25x2=$22.50.... With sales tax in Hughson being 7.88%, grand total should be $24.27 ($22.50 x 1.0788=$24.27) Being charged $25.35 for a pretax amount of $11.25 is a 12.66% tax!! What is the extra $1.08 charge for? Do you guys not know how to add sales tax? Is there some other "fee" being charged for take out? They don't give you an itemized receipt like most restaurants do outlining everything you ordered. Also, what's with the food portions?!?! Pathetic! I'd rather drive elsewhere and pay less and get more food that is as good as this place. read more
