    As a stinky tofu lover, I was sad I just heard about this place just as they stopped serving stinky tofu. We still went to support them and the food definitely feels authentic. We ordered two servings of oyster omelette, a braised pork rice, seafood noodles, pickled cucumber, Dan Dan noodles dish, pickled cabbage, deep fried intestine and a bowl of intestine vermicelli as well as oyster vermicelli. We made sure to order two plates of popcorn chicken and a bowl of sliced pork with plum powder dip. The pork was a nice surprise. Seasoned a bit differently than what I expected and I heard the plum powder really works. The plum powder was not close to me so I didn't try it. The oyster omelette and vermicelli were so comforting. The dishes were all so good. A must try for Taiwanese Street food hankering. There were always people waiting. Be aware if you get there at peak time. There's only small tables so we had to wait a while for our party of seven.

    Wow can't believe it's been 10 years since I wrote my last review and wanted to update it to 5! I couldn't even remember why I only gave 4 stars but I guess service has improved bc it was great today. Food was amazing as always and tasted so authentic, definitely comparable to Taiwan! My grandma eats here once a week and our entire family loves every dish! I tried the turkey rice for the first time today and don't be fooled by its plain appearance, there's so much good flavor in that dish. The others (minced pork rice, bamboo, vermicelli) were also classics and made really well.

    3.5 star. This is a small mom and pop Taiwanese restaurant serving up some traditional Taiwanese dishes that I don't normally see on other menus. We got the Lu rou fan and the vermicelli with intestines and oyster. The portions are pretty small in my opinion. Flavor is good on the rice and the pork is fatty and melts in your mouth. I do wished they included braised egg or braised tofu but it was just pork belly with a few pieces of cilantro. The vermicelli is a dish I had back in Taiwan (阿忠米线) and has been searching for back in the states for a while and while it is a similar dish, it doesn't compare to what I had in Asia. I think it's missing the vinegar and I wish I had the option to add spiciness to it.

    Authentic Taiwanese food, quick service, small restaurant with limited indoor seating. We waited 20min for a Sunday lunch with a party of 3. The spinach was fresh, the pickled cucumbers were crunchy & refreshing. The turkey rice was flavorful, the fried pork chop was good but the fried popcorn chicken was even better. We will return to try more items on the menu.

    This restaurant is quite small, so definitely have someone in your party come first so they can put their name on the wait list! The food was delicious, my table tried the fried pork intestine, pickled cucumber, popcorn chicken, oyster pancake, oyster vermicelli, and pork belly rice. The pickled cucumbers were very good, and the portion was huge for the price! The bowl was completely filled up to the brim (I know it doesn't look like it in my photo but that's because we had already eaten half haha), 9/10. This was my first time trying fried pork intestines and it was a good experience. The intestines were crunchy on one side and soft and fatty on the other. They didn't have much taste other than straight fat, but it did come with salt and pepper to dip in. It also came with a side of pickled vegetables that were perfect to cut through the fattiness of the intestines, 8/10. The popcorn chicken was good as well. They weren't super fried, but the insides were very juicy. And dipping salt that came with the chicken was a bit sweet which I liked as well, 7/10. The oyster pancake was basically a big egg pancake made with rice flour, oysters, and this bitter green vegetable that I can't remember the name of, covered in this sweet and sour sauce that tasted tomatoey. I've never had anything like it, but it was very good! I loved the little pockets of sticky rice flour, 7/10. The pork belly rice was your standard rice that every Taiwanese restaurant serves. I only ate a few bite of my friends, but it was good! 7/10. The oyster vermicelli was also very delicious. The soup was thick like egg drop soup, and the oysters were big. Ask for black vinegar on the side if you like it a bit sour! 8/10. Great food and fast service. The portion sizes were also a lot bigger than expected! Would definitely come again.

    If you like Pine & Crane or Joy, give this place a try. It's cheaper and the dishes are considered more "ethnic" There's not much Taiwanese food locations left in the center of San Gabriel, most are East of Rosemead Blvd (Arcadia, Monrovia, etc.) or Rowland Heights area. This place tastes good; pretty standard traditional Taiwanese fare with a limited but solid menu. The oyster omelette tastes pretty good. The glutinous rice flour batter is present throughout, with a solid oyster taste. The batter can be thick/congealed in certain part of the omelette though, so it's not mixed super well. I do like the tong ho or chrysanthemum greens at the bottom versus traditional a-choy (that lettuce texture is whatever imo). The sauce isn't too sweet or in-your-face strong, which gives the whole thing a nice balance. For $13.50, I'd recommend. Popcorn chicken imo has the right amount of marinade. Most boba shops soak them chickens in too strong of a soy sauce (looking at you OG Kikkoman) ginger/garlic marinade that takes away from the juicy chicken taste. This doesn't taste like fried teriyaki chicken. I really like the dipping five spice powder they use, it has a uniquely strong cinnamon/clove taste that I haven't had elsewhere. Clean oil taste with great basil aroma. I'd recommend this for sure. The pork intestines vermicelli tastes good, but not as flavorful as I like it. It has the right thickness in soup and noodle texture (strongest point), but the soup lacks umami that I'm used to. They don't put much intestines (seriously, less than a standard street tripa taco) and cilantro. This soup is best with thick chunks of chewy intestines, but they give chopped up small pieces. At the price of $9.25, go for the oyster vermicelli for a dollar more. It's a traditional Taiwanese taste, portions are on the smaller side, but service is good and food is not oily. Give it a try. I will be back for their shrimp and ground pork noodle.

    I used to frequent this Taiwanese restaurant when it first opened, but then I forgot to go because of many new restaurants come out. One day, I suddenly have a craving for Taiwanese food, so I went back and found that their food hadn't changed at all. They taste still the same. The braised rice with pork and soy sauce It really is their signature dish, super delicious. Every single Taiwanese dish is incredibly authentic. Highly recommended! The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, the place was clean, and parking was okay, not too difficult.

    Pretty automatic Taiwanese food. 蚵仔米线 oyster with rice noodles tasted close to the one that I had in Taipei. However the starch coating on the oysters was a bit thicker than my liking. Overall it is a place must try if you are craving for something like this. If I visit LA again the next time, I'll try their other dishes. I recommend it.

    Golden Leaf in San Gabriel has been serving authentic Taiwanese comfort food long before many of us settled in Southern California. They are located at a small strip mall storefront on West Las Tunas Drive, it has quietly built a loyal following with authentic Taiwanese 小吃 dishes. For years, their fried stinky tofu was a signature item offered openly on the menu. When available, its exterior is golden crispiness, while the interior remained soft and moisture, perfectly infused with pickled cabbage and sweet soy sauce. Every bite delivered layered flavor that lingered. Unfortunately, after the pandemic, neighborhood complaints about its distinctive odor prompted city warnings, and the tofu was moved to a secret menu, and they send email alerts to customers when it's available, and on my recent visit, the owner hinted that this might be the last day they serve it, and shared a petition link urging the city to preserve the dish. Their squid noodle/vermicelli soup, consistently delivers a satisfying shacha flavor. The diced pork belly rice and braised pork belly rice are meaty and savored, with a gentle sweetness rather than overwhelming saltiness. If you are in the mood for something lighter, the turkey rice offers a more delicate but well seasoned alternative. The poached squid showcases fresh, tender squid paired with Taiwanese dipping sauce and thin slices of ginger, a clean, bright starter that highlights the ingredient's texture. Their fried crispy pork intestine remains a favorite for its crunchy and flavor, but since Golden Leaf doesn't serve alcohol, I would recommend order it to go and eat it quickly while it's still hot, one of the best dishes pairing with alcohol drinks. Other offerings such as Taiwanese sausage, popcorn chicken, oyster pancake, and vermicelli dishes are solid but maybe not as standout as stinky tofu, but still reminds you of Taiwanese street food. Over the years, dishes like beef noodle soup, duck noodle soup, and various cold cut plates have disappeared off the menu, making each visit feel more like a treasure hunt for available favorites. Tables are few here and service may slow down under high demand, though most returned customers remain patient because of the food. Parking is also somewhat limited, but the casual setting and friendliness of the staff make up for constraints. Golden Leaf remains a beloved gem in the San Gabriel Taiwanese food destination, the stinky tofu, when available, stands among the best I have ever had in the USA, please keeping Golden Leaf alive, and especially their stinky tofu, signing their petition or staying tuned via their subscriber, while their food maybe a little bit pricey nowadays, it is still worth if you are craving for authentic Taiwanese 小吃.

We had to take it to go since she no longer had appetite to eat. I am insanely upset and disappointed that they'd dare to yell at us and especially in front of a child for simply asking for an update. We also overheard that the two tables next to us had to also wait a long time for their chow fun/chow mein. The servers were not particularly nice to them either. If there is a wait for a certain dish, please let your customers know . It is absolutely not on them that your kitchen is backed up. I love my community, but this was the most childish staff I've ever encountered. TLDR; workers yelled at us for simply asking where our food is. Horrible service. Tried kissing up to us after they realized their mistake.

I can't speak for them, but I will say, if you order the tsukemen and find that you want more dipping broth, that will be an extra charge. Order a regular bowl of ramen if you do not plan to dip the brothless noodles into the broth for each bite. BF and I both tried the spicy tuna bowl ($7.95), chashu bowl ($8.95), and tonkotsu ramen ($15.95). The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. The three items were more than enough for the two of us and a good variety of food. Parking here is horrible at the street level, so head downstairs for the two levels of underground parking.

We finally went in and ordered a bunch: the Spicy Beef Shank Rice Noodle, Rattan Pepper Sliced Beef Rice Noodle, Popcorn Chicken, Sesame Balls, Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake, Fried Milk Rolls, and Fried Taro Balls. Everything was outstanding. The noodles were amazing--fresh, chewy, with high-quality ingredients you can really taste in every bite. The broths had that perfect spicy kick without being overwhelming, and the beef was super tender. My wife and I couldn't stop eating; literally everything we tried was delicious. She especially loved the Fried Taro Balls--they were crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. The portion rice is very generous, I can never finish and would end up taking leftovers. Parking: they have a lot next to the restaurant, I never had an issue with finding a spot. The only downside is they don't have their AC on during the summer. I remember one time I was sweating while eating and it was very uncomfortable.
