It's a small restaurant without much ambiance but the service is swift and the food is DELICIOUS. The pork belly rice is the best I've ever had, the intestine vermicelli is as good as it gets. The squid is cooked perfectly. The minced pork noodles is so much more flavorful than one would imagine. The fried intestines are crisp and the dipping salt is on point. This is our favorite Golden Leaf 金葉 Taiwanese Night Market Sizzling Black Pepper Steak 台式夜市鐵板黑椒牛排. Golden Leaf 金葉 uses Rib Eye Steak 肋眼牛排 and requires ordering 1 day before. I don't know how I have not tried this place before but it's so good. They no longer do combos so you have to order the protein and carbs a la carte. We got the pork and noodles, popcorn chicken and pork belly rice, the flavor was amazing. They separated the seasoning on the popcorn chicken which was great since our kids would find it too flavorful but it was like crack. Everything was great, service was good. My kid was complaining about the smell because they serve stinky tofu, if my kids were not with me I probably would have ordered it. Apparently it's not served daily but maybe just on weekends? Came to try this place bc I was craving the flour rice noodles. It really hit the spot for me and makes me miss Taiwan so much. My other favorites were the minced pork belly rice dish. I literally went back the next day to try the pork belly plate because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I wish they made this as a bowl but unfortunately they only offer if it for the diced version. I'm not the biggest fan of fatty meat but they cooked is so well and I actually ended up loving the fatty part more than the meat. It was gelatinous and complimented the saucy pork very well. I wish they added more sauce because the rice was a bit bland but it was still good. I appreciate that it came with some sides so I could balance out the meal with vegetables. They finally have indoor dining again after all these years. It's an authentic and delicious Taiwanese food place. The place is small but it has many yummy food. My mom ordered the fried pork chop plate with rice and 2 side dishes and I ordered a braised diced pork belly rice bowl. They both tasted very delicious and I especially like my brasied diced pork belly bowl. It was very flavorful and addictive. They are always busy and have many takeout orders. Service was okay because we only saw one Taiwanese lady working there and she was busy with all the phone orders and dine-in orders. I was looking for some homey Taiwanese food to get in the 626 and this place was on my list. My expectations were high based on the reviews and I can thankfully say I was so impressed. I ended up getting -the vermicelli noodles with pork intestines -braised pork over rice -popcorn chicken -fried pork chop -stinky tofu (this is only available on select days...and it's a MUST HAVE if you don't mind the fermentation smell ) Every single dish was exceptionally executed and it really felt like I was back in Taiwan again. MENU HAS CHANGED - April 2024. They no longer have my favorite beef noodle soup so that was disappointing. I've been coming here for years specially when they closed the dining room and it was take out only. They've finally reopened the dining room! The vermicelli with intestine is always good but 1 out of 4 times the flavor has been off (not as flavorful). Still, it's one of my go to orders. $8.50. Lu rou fan or diced pork belly rice plate $14 is great. Very filling, obviously very rich from the fat, flavorful and personally I would share this. The side dishes are tricky, if it's late they run out and give you boiled corn or half an egg, otherwise they're pretty good like eggplant or other cold appetizers. Very sad they changed their menu and no longer have the beef noodle soup. They were one of Yelps top beef noodle soups in SGV. Ultimate comfort food and authentic! A friend introduced me to this place and now I'm hooked. It's a pretty small place with maybe like 7 tables? but you're less likely to get a line if you go on a weekday or after lunch hours. They have a clip board for a waiting list if a line starts forming. I've tried a couple of things on their menu but my favorite is the braised diced pork belly plate. It reminds me of home cooking but they do it so well. It's the perfect balance of flavor. So they have both a bowl and a plate. A bowl is just a bowl of rice and pork with veggies but if you get the plate it comes with two sides and they are so big! What we normally do is order one plate and one bowl and share the side dishes from the plate meal. The side dishes always change by the way. I've had everything from green beans, tofu, cabbage, etc. All very tasty. I'm also a huge fan of their braised ground pork noodle. This is a dry noodle dish. The size of this dish is also large. If you're an intestine person you'd probably also love it here. I'm not that kind of person haha but I did try it because I'm open to it. Everyone orders it and my friends love it. I'm from a small village in Taiwan called Meinong, next to Kaohsiung. Let me tell you this is legit. Waited 20 minutes for lunch on a Saturday. The son of the owner is working the front, he is very kind and is a great employee. The lu rou fan reminds me of home. Perfectly fatty with the sauce coating the rice. If you want to try real Taiwanese food, come to this place! Lu rou fan (braised pork belly rice), oyster pancake, oyster vermicelli, fried porkchop, fried taiwanese sausage are all taiwanese classic dishes and are all good here. From the news, this restaurant can't serve stinky tofu because one neighbor has been complaining of the smell (however, no complaints from the neighboring stores in the strip mall) and city has fined them. Dine-in experience! I have been ordering takeouts from Golden Leaf countless times. They can do large party trays too. But, sometimes you just want to sit down and enjoy the food right away served piping hot so I am very excited that Golden Leaf is open for indoor dining. We arrived around Sunday lunch 12:15, and we were lucky that one of the handful of tables was available. The mom and pop restaurant has simple decor with a good curated menu serving their top authentic Taiwanese dishes. Solid Taiwanese food in the SGV! The oyster vermicelli is filled with good sized oysters -- some places skimp out! And the popcorn chicken was juicy and crispy -- I wish it was a bit cheaper. This is one of those chill and quaint Taiwanese restaurants with not a huge menu but a ton of heart put into the food. Service is great -- our waters were constantly filled throughout our meal. A casual spot that tastes homemade and nostalgic! My party of 3 came on a Friday night and it was decently busy, but we got seated quickly. The restaurant is small but service is super quick - food was ordered and served within 10 minutes. The standout was the pork noodles, which were wonderfully garlicky and so fragrant from the pork oil. The crunchy bean sprouts added a great texture to the noodles. Another must order is the taiwanese sausage paired with the sliced raw garlic. I like how theirs wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, compared to some other Taiwanese spots I've been too. Recently ordered the Beef noodle soup, Duck soup with rice noodles and pickled cucumbers. Beef noodle soup comes with thicker udon like noodles and a rich savory broth. The broth is not spicy in heat but spiced in flavor. The large chunks of beef is cooked so tender that it just melts apart in your mouth. Recommend this dish, very tasty and filling. Preferred the beef noodle soup taste over the duck soup. The duck soup is more broth-like and "clear", subtle in ginger duck flavor compared to the in your face beef flavor of soup. This duck soup is for more advanced eaters as the many pieces of duck have hard small bones, you must be comfortable picking meat off. Pickled cucumber is refreshingly crunchy and a good appetizer. Large portion is served so it's good for two or more people. Fresh veggies in addition to the meal made me feel healthier while filling my belly.
