I ordered the three meat breakfast burrito to go. I have been on the hunt for a great one in Bakersfield and this one was pretty good. It was very good portions and had very good flavor. It is not the best I have had, (Pappy's years ago has them beat), but it was more than acceptable. The tortilla could have been a little softer and it would have been nice to have some pico on the side to add. I am so disappointed in the new Golden Ox that opened on Chester! I completely understand that they are doing a soft opening today and are extremely busy, but with that being said, there is no excuse to overcharge for what you get! I ordered the chicken strips combo with fries and a regular drink. For that combo, I got charged $8.99 for the chicken strips PLUS an up charge of $5.49 for the fries and drink, so total without tax = $14.48, and for that I received 2 chicken strips (one was broken in two pieces to make it look like 3 strips in the bag), a fries bag half full and a small drink!! An honest opinion, this combo was more of a child's meal and should have cost no more than $8.99!!! I will say that the chicken strips that I had were delicious as were the fries, but seriously guys, not worth the price! I also got a grilled cheese and cheese sticks for my husband which was fantastic! The cheese sticks were perfectly crisp and cheesy, plenty in the bag and the grilled cheese had great flavor for being just a "grilled cheese"! I feel bad for even writing this review because again, I know they just opened but at the same time, I don't feel it's fair to get what I received. I'm so rooting for them to succeed especially with our areas scarce options, but come on guys, I don't mind paying for something worth the cost and this wasn't it!!! Had the breakfast Chili Verde burrito. $14.95. You get eggs, potatoes, cheese, chili verde sauce and I had 4 pieces of pork from what they charge for Chili Verde. I am very disappointed with their service especially in the drive thru area. The girl that is there attending the drive thru area she is very rude. She took my order all wrong and charged me items that I did not even mention. I asked her to speak to her manager and blew me off and still had the audacity to tell me well you are still getting your money back after she misunderstood my order. Why in the world you have a job that don't like working with customers and argue with them. Instead of saying that was my mistake.I like the food there don't get me wrong but people like her make it look bad and not want to come back anymore. So I'm giving it a 1 rating. New Golden Ox on North Chester location. Just opened a couple of days ago, I expected it to be packed but it was oddly empty. Perhaps everyone in Oildale just sleeps in on a Saturday morning. The restaurant as expected is clean and of course since they just opened. The customer service was wonderful, answered question no rudeness detected. Im huge on customer service. Now to the food. I ordered the three meat breakfast burrito, hold potatoes add avacado. It came with red and green salsa. The burrito itself was huge. I actually weighed it at home, 22 ounces. A pound and half, wonder what it would have weighed with the potatoes. The tortilla needed a little char, it was warmed up but I like a little more char. The burrito was a little lackluster in flavor. It had all the potential of being great and was just missing some salt, seasoning or something. It was also cold in the middle which I think was caused by the avacado and maybe cold cheese. I think I would have liked it better if there was a little more seasoning, and after assembly the tortilla griddled, just an idea. I will be back to check out other options on the menu and update the review. I love that there is one less empty business in Oildale. read more

Those don't look like the chicken salads on Whitelane location. They give you boiled eggs and chicken that taste like ass. Looks like someone ran over a lettuce and tossed in some old ass boiled flavorless weird tasting chicken. John's burgers is literally better hands down east side location. Worst experience ever. I ordered a burger family pack and these people just couldn't get the order right, even after multiple attempts. The lady at the front had to repeat my order so many times because she couldn't understand, why have her up front if she can't understand "no tomato, no cheese"? My dad was just in a bad accident and is in the hospital. All he wanted was a burger from here, and he's allergic to both items. They still couldn't get it right after two remakes. You never know what someone is going through. They ended up refunding me because they said they couldn't keep remaking it, even though it keeps being their mistake. Golden ox has been a staple here in town since I was a kid, I'm glad to see this business is still around, they have always had good food and service, never had bad food from them, my go to is the gyro sandwich cause it's hard to find a good gyro these days, but they make a great one. However this trip switched it up and got some new items to try, tried their Chile verde burrito, big burrito had really good flavor and man it was packed with meat. Definitely worth it. Also we got the steak dinner, the steak had a really nice char and flavor. The garlic bread is tasty and decent fries, side salad was good, they have that good good ranch. So today I went to buy a burger and as I was sitting there I saw this rude customer come in and just saying all kinds of stuff well...I know they say customer is always right but when your wrong your wrong.....well with that I saw in front of everyone the manager started yelling literally yelling at 2 female employees like their nothing, this is a horrible thing to see, especially when it looked like the customer was completely wrong, i would not want anyone yelling at my wife or my daughter and I feel no one has the right to yell at you the way he did in front of everyone, this made me lose my appetite and just leave in disgust, I will never go back again. Pretty decent my review is solely for the burgers and fries , I was in the area and saw a bunch of cars in the drive thru so I was like they haven't to be good. My favorite spot for chili cheese fries with onions! Chili is so good with the fries and plenty of cheese, also the pastrami sandwich was full of meats and hot with chili peppers on the side!
