One time I came here and ordered cheese fries. Do you know what they gave me? Unmelted, shredded cheese on some fries. I had to laugh! We chose this place instead of the typical fast food and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu has a little bit of Greek and Mexican, along with many burgers, wraps and sandwiches. They do have breakfast also. We thought the fries were really good, seasoned, crispy and soft inside. The pastrami quesadilla was meaty and good. The giro was great with lots of Tszitki. I have gone to this establishment since I was in my teens, I am 47 now. Its unfortunate that I am unable to go anymore because the pricing is so ridiculously high it makes no sense to go there when I could go to Tahoe Joes and get a better cooked higher quality meal for the same price, maybe less. I spent $30 on a steak that is thin and tough and onion rings and a piece of bread and side salad and a coke. It just seems like price gouging to me every time, because it seems higher every time. First, it's a great place to get take out or dine-in. The staff is usually friendly and efficient. The only negative is the parking. When busy, we've had to park outside of the designated parking area. Also, the parking lot needs repaving and relined. Hopefully the owners of that property will do something about it since I'm sure the good folks at Golden Ox pay plenty for the privilege to use it. read more

I've lived in this neighborhood 30+ years, and have eaten here often over that time. I do find that the quality has slipped in recent years. My last breakfast (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 bacon) was disappointing. The sausage was shriveled and dry... giving the strong impression of being the previous days leftovers. The bacon was cold, and stuck together... also appearing to be holdover. Eggs were ok, and pancakes were fluffy, hot and fresh. My recent lunch and dinner orders have been just OK. I always ask for my fries 'extra crispy' because they tend to be soft and under/cooked if you don't. I still eat here occasionally... for nearby convenience, and nostalgia perhaps. But there are places within a mile or two that produce much better food for just a dollar or two more per plate. Every eatery has a lifespan, and the Golden Ox is regrettably on a downward spiral. read more

I've been to this place a few times now and food is good for what it is worth. It's not my go to place for a quick bite, normally if we come here it's because I'm out voted 3 versus 1 and if it was up to me, this probably wouldn't be my first choice. Food is good and is affordable. They usually have specials, but you have to go inside the establishment to see what's the daily special. Staff is really friendly and I've never had any bad experience here. The place is semi clean and some days are better than other days. Sometimes the tables don't get cleaned off in a timely manner, but then again sometimes they have a lot of customers. They have a drive-thru window which is always a plus for people on the go and they have a large selection on the menu so there's definitely something for everyone. read more

Went through the drive thru today and the Ox had new signage and a new menu board. I tried one of the new menu items, a carne asada torta. It was stuffed full of meat and fresh veggies including avocado. It was good and a half sandwich filled me up. I would have enjoyed a few more jalapenos on the sandwich. read more

The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I just wish they had a delivery service like Uber Eats or something. Mk i gave them another chance the other day...got dinner from here my sons got cheeseburgers with specific requests for both fries and onion rings..:i got a jalapeño bacon cheeseburger (no judging lol) and fries...all the fries were ordered extra crispy just like last time and yes they got it right this time! Nothing to complain about this time maybe they just had a different cook last time idk...We will be back Got dinner from here last night around 6...they were not busy at all i got a jalapeño bacon cheeseburger and fries which i ordered those extra crispy as always. My son got some onion rings with his. The taste of the burger was fine but the bun was old and crumbly...the fries ugh meh..obviously they didn't cook them extra crispy cuz they were limp, saggy and white. The onion rings same damn way. They used to be so good here but lately nah not good at all. I'm thinking i need to try out some other places and possibly come back in a few months and see if there has been any improvement. Not going back here went through the drive thru, ordered 2 combos, shakes, and a cheese sticks. I checked the bag before leaving the cheese sticks we're not in the bag, let them know. They asked if they could see the bag themselves to make sure I wasn't lying. I pulled every item out of the bag to show them. Gave this place another chance and I was disappointed. I askes for Chile verde breakfast burrito with no "papas" no potatoes. Hoping I might actually get chile verde. I got my burrito and there was papas! Papas everywhere! And nooooo chile verde. I confirmed when I ordered. And when I got my food at the window. I was told there was no papas. I drove 12 minutes home and there was papas. I calles to let them know they added papas and they said to return the burrito with papas and they would make me a new one. The staff and the food was incredible. We stopped here on a Wednesday night during a 6 hour road-trip. Although the restaurant was getting ready to close and only taking to-go orders they still sat us and took their time with our food and our service. It was a wonderful experience and I wish I lived closer to frequent this place more often. The food was hot and tasty and very affordable as well. I believe the burgers taste good, unfortunately I placed an oder for the fried chicken plate to go, and the chicken seems that it was cooked in older oil, so the fried chicken was way over cooked. I am happy that there are local restuarants offering great deals in hard times. The taco tuesday is a perfect option for the hungry kids and a more hungry husband. I recommend getting the grilled chicken and the carne asada. There is also pastor but I'm not sure if they use pork or beef as the base of the meat. Both the chicken and the beef have good seasoning. I was pleased that they where able to accommodate my request as well, my mom is a vegetarian but loves Mexican food so they where able to get me a vegetarian Chile Verde burrito.
