Watery drinks. I love the Gong Cha from Cerritos but this one in Gardena is horrible. This was my second time picking up my go to drink: Brown Sugar Milk Tea with boba & it was watery again! The past few times I've gone here, the rewards system (Fivestars) either doesn't give me my points or it's down, which isn't the store's fault but it does sour the experience a bit (went on my birthday to redeem the free drink but the system was down so ended up having to pay...) Drinks are consistent and staff are friendly enough. I really like their classic milk tea (usually get 50% sugar). If they had an app for ordering ahead that would push me to visit more often (heck, it'd be amazing if more places did that but I get why they don't). read more

Ok, so as i said in my other boba tea reviews, and someone has said the same here (did you steal my line bwahahaha) that i also judge boba places by their house milk teas. But first, this place is the south west corner of western ave, and 182nd street, and just look for the shinsengumi to go, and it's right next to it. Another smallish boba location, but bigger then then 7 leaf right near here. It's nice and bright inside, white wall/counter modern clean looking interior. There are some smallish table areas on the right side under the lighted menu, which is hard to see when you're standing in line. Just grab one of the paper menus on the counter. So back to the review, i ordered a standard milk tea which is called pearl milk tea. L is 4.50 which is ballpark price for most large house milk teas. I did order it 50% sweet as i read people saying how sweet normal is. Actually, at 50%, i didn't feel it was sweet enough for me. I can barely taste the tea, it was more of a washed out milk drink taste with boba, which were cooked with just enough chew and not too soggy. Actually this would have been refreshing on a hot day, but today was overcast with light drizzle, sigh lol. Overall, i'm going to start off with a 3 star as it's good and refreshing, but it wasn't the best i had. The mango green tea with lychee (lee-chee US, lie-chee UK pronunciation) at 75% was a little too sweet, i might have mixed the 2 drinks and should have made this 50% instead. It was good though, can taste the green tea after taste, the lychee jellies were plentiful. I think the only thing about mango is there are some mango fibers that at first were pieces of cloth in my drink lol. But i realized it was the mango. I only encountered one piece with the hard strands on it. Overall a refreshing fruity drink and maybe i enhanced the sweetness with the lychee jellies, so be careful in how you order it. If you like sweet, (the kids might love this) then go for it. This drink was borderline 4 stars if i got the sweetness right. Gardena i think has all the major boba brands now that RB Tea is opening soon, so it's been great tasting all these teas. I think all the locations have to step it up a notch to compete which is great for the consumers. I will attach menu for those of you to figure out what you want before you come. Oh and like others said, it's in a shopping complex with a kula sushi and 7-11 and 99 cent store, so there's parking but it does get crowded. . But don't let me deter you, there are a lot of different drinks here, I shouldn't have ordered a different configuration from standard as my first taste. Give them a try. read more

Ok, I have been here countless of times and have ordered online delivery almost every other week. I have to say that this place has actually the most amazing and flavorful milk teas and smoothies around. If you love Matcha teas, this is the best place to get it. You will literally taste the matcha powder mixed in your drink. I love getting the 3J the most since it already has jelly, pudding and boba. Plus, I can personalized the sweetness and ice -that completely won me over. For taro lovers, you will not be disappointed either. My husband who is a health freak loved getting their taro milk tea with less sugar (ofc) every time I treat him out here. Anyhow, the teas are total worth the price. This boba place is nice if I'm in a hurry and don't want to drive out to 7 leaves nearby. It does the job. However, the drinks are overly sweet and for some drinks they can't customize the sweetness. Their staff is not friendly, I tried to ask questions and also asked for recommendations when I went for the first time and they just told me pearl milk tea without any rationale or description. I like their gimmicky drinks such as the Marble series because those are unique to Gong Cha. I signed up for their loyalty program with my phone number and they kept sending me offers. I had a horrible experience with the coffee shop a block away and decided to try coffee here. This wasn't any different. The girl was so annoyed when i asked for the coffee menu. She said "it's back there" and pointed to the wall. I wasnt going to take out my frustration out on her but i really was incredibly frustrated. When i started to ask for flavors she said " for what? For a latte? Do you want it by itself? " really? I'm not asking for much other than for people in customer service to implement what they're taught in providing customer service and guiding an order. This place is hidden in a little shopping strip on western avenue & 182nd street. There's a parking lot in front but it is shared with several businesses so it gets packed! The little shop is located In between The ramen to go & 7-11. We decided to give it a shot. I ordered a green tea with boba & it wasn't what I expected. It is probably the worst green tea I ever had. It had old blueberries on the bottom of my drink and there was a ton of undissolved sugar sitting on the bottom. I'm not sure which was grosser? I think I swallowed a stem. It was bad. It's annoying how many Asian boba tea places are opening up in the South Bay but hardly any of them can make a decent milk tea drink. Gong Cha is no different. I'm offended they even have the word "tea" in their name. Ordered an oolong milk tea. Took a sip and almost spat it out. It tasted like 90% non-dairy creamer and 10% tea. That powdered creamer crap belongs in an office break room, not in a tea that I'm paying $4+ for. I don't care enough for this place to come back, but my bad for not inquiring ahead of time. The girls were nice enough to remake the drink after the hubs took the drink back. Unfortunately, it didn't taste that much better. It looks like all their milk teas are premade with far too much powdered creamer and all they did was add more water to the drink instead of tea. If you're a tea snob, stick with Tea Station. Ding Tea is decent if you like tasty boba. Half and Half if you don't mind a trek to SGV. read more

Today was the soft opening date! My friend noticed the sign going up about a month or two ago and knew I am in love with Gong Cha, so he told me. I've been squealing from excitement since and recruited my fellow boba buddies to go scout out the place on its soft opening day. Definitely did not disappoint. They're cash only for now, and they'll have Five Stars starting next week. It's 15% off during their soft opening, then BOGO the first weekend of January when it's the grand opening. Easy parking and right next to Shin-sen-gumi. So why 4.5? I was kind of hoping this place would have more tables and chairs...I frequent boba places as a casual study spot but this is more of a "pick up and go" sort of place. There isn't a lot of room to even have tables. Sadness. But it won't stop me from coming. read more

This place was clean, efficient and tasty. We ordered and they got to work. Within minutes they had finish our order. I had the basic pearl milk tea at 50% sweetness and it was about perfect. Someone ordered the Panda and though it would be better at 70%. I like you can choose how much ice too. I would come back and try other flavors. read more

Finally, another hipster boba shop has come to the South Bay. Gardena has plenty of boba shops, but most of them are all powdered milk teas or very over priced. When Ding Tea first opened in the area, I was so happy because I didn't have to drive all the way to OC for it. And now with Gong Cha here, no more having to drive up the 110 North sitting through traffic just to get a cup of boba from the Koreatown location. Only downside to the store was that their back counter and kitchen area was huge and very spacious, but the waiting and seating area for guests were very tight and limited. The decorations are definitely perfect for instagram and Snapchats, but if there were a line to order, there would be almost no room to catch a perfect picture by their wall decors. I ordered the large pearl milk tea, asking for extra sugar and regular ice. I guess because they just opened their workers were still training, so the girl put regular for the sweetness. My drink came out almost instantly because they were very slow at the time. Overall, I would recommend trying Gong Cha-Gardena if you are looking for decent priced above average boba. Don't think the cashier understood, I had to give different samples of the type of drink I was requesting. He said "we don't blend the tea" and I said "blend the ICE" and he said "no we don't do that here" then I asked, "what about slush"? He said "no we don't do that here" And I finally said "snow"? My litmus test for any boba place is their "house" milk tea with boba, no sugar. Gong Cha passes the test for me! The regular black milk tea hit the spot on a hot day, the proportion of ice was enough to cool it off but did not dilute the beverage too much (probably because I drank it so fast), boba was warm, brown, and the right amount of chewiness. Check, check, and check. There was a line when I stopped in on a weekday late afternoon, but I had a little time so the wait was fine. The restaurant is not big and has two Instagram-friendly walls so it's good to be kind and get out of the way to let people take their photos. Both the brown sugar london fog and the qq passionfruit were really watered down, there are barely any ice and the drinks were warm when received even order with 100% ICE, feel like I asked for no ice. Even asked for the no lychee jelly for my qq and my drink arrive with full of them filled up. I guess they dont read the order label or something.. I really do order from gongcha around thursday and so on, so i would say i would try not to come on Monday since maybe there is something up with the barista who made my drink. Gong Cha at this location specifically has become my favorite boba place. The lines are always pretty long, but that's to be expected in this area . I always just order their panda milk tea. Came in around 3pm on a Friday afternoon. Gong Cha is in the same plaza as Shin Sen Gumi 2 Go, Dollar Tree, Kura Sushi, & other businesses. There's plenty of parking. It's right next door to Shin Sem Gumi 2 go if you're having trouble finding it. There was no line at the time we came in. Right when you walk in, you can notice the photo ops available inside. They have a wall with wings and a floral wall with their business name on it. Good for publicity. When ordering, we noticed a little note on the register. There was no boba available. At 3pm on a Friday... Anyways. I ordered a Taro Milk tea. You can customize the sweetness and ice of your drink. I usually like Taro MT wherever I go. I only really love it at two boba spots, but it's my go to. Gong Cha's Taro MT was a bit off. It was a bit... bland. I didn't like it. It didn't fulfill my Taro MT craving. Not sure how their other drinks are. My friend had no issue with their Thai tea. I'd like to go back and try another drink to give it another shot AND to see how their boba is, if they have any. read more

Overall I love Gongcha, and it has always been one of the top choices when it comes to milk tea. However, this place ruins some of Gongcha's reputation. Their drinks are little off and don't taste like other places. Especially I really don't like how they use the plastic seal for cheese foam milk teas instead of using lids. How could I drink the cheese foam if you seal it up ? I always have to peel it off. Being a boba fanatic I get excited when a new boba spot opens in the Southbay! Gong Cha is a really small establishment with very limited seating and parking. Parking has never been an issue whenever I come but I wouldn't necessarily recommend coming here to hang out since there is such limited seated. However, despite the limited seating, if you are looking for a spot to just come and satisfy your boba craving this is the place! I have been coming back more frequently and have been adding to my list of favorite drinks here. Their drinks are on the sweeter side and I was appreciative when I first came here I asked the server what their sugar level is like in reference to other places and the girl was able to share their drinks are sweeter than nearby places such as Ding Tea! This was very helpful. In the number of times I have come here the boba always tastes fresh and drinks are consistent and good!
