The wings are well seasoned and the skin is thin and crispy while the meat is very flavorful and juicy. The pepper chicken was good but my favorite is the soy garlic and galbi flavor! Each one was different and delicious in its own way, however, the sauce on the peppery chicken was delightful, it was like a honey mustard with hot sauce. Wow! I have been to Goobne two times and both times the service and food have been phenomenal. A friend had recommended Goobne to me because she knew that I am a Korean chicken fanatic. I came with a group of 3 and we ordered the spicy rice cakes and a half and half of the bone in sweet and spicy and soy garlic. The spicy rice cakes are rich and are definitely spicy so if you can't handle a bit of heat definitely beware! Very delicious though and I got it both times I went. (10/10) Along with the spicy rice cakes we ordered the bone in half and half of the soy garlic and the sweet and spicy. I loved the soy garlic, it wasn't too sweet which can be the case with some other soy garlic sauces for Korean chicken. The sweet and spicy was delicious and was definitely my favorite, so yummy! Chicken both (10/10)! The service was excellent, I was seated both times I went immediately both times and things came out in a timely manner with appetizers coming out first. Went to order takeout close to opening and some tables were already filled. The prep time took a bit long, but there was only one staff working the kitchen and all staff were friendly though. Ordered the Fiesta Oven Fries, Oven Rings, Half-half (pepper crispy/original), Half-Half (soy garlic/volcano), and Baguette Bowl (all wings). In conclusion, I liked it. Others in my party mentioned how it definitely tasted "different" than other Korean fried chicken (like TOO healthy), but for me personally, it didn't make that much of a difference without the batter and oil frying. My favorite was the soy garlic, which was sweet, savory, and tangy. Volcano, which is supposed to be goobne's trademark flavor, tasted bland for me--it wasn't memorable. Original is literally baked chicken, so go for the flavored options. And crispy pepper was unique (skin tasted most like regular fried chicken), but for me it was still a bit bland and not spicy as described. The baguette bowl was good. Strong garlic bread flavor. Not too sweet like I feared. Fiesta fries were good too (typical Korean sweet/savory seasoning), but the onion rings may taste bland at first because it isn't oil fried. It gets addicting after a while though. Although I mentioned some flavors being bland, I still give it 5 stars, because it's different from other Korean chicken, and is nice to have once in a while. And they gave enough radishes and even dips (spicy mayo? is really good), unlike other places that are super stingy and give you one radish for a 4 person meal. Hopefully they lower the fries/rings prices though, because $9.99 per is not worth. There is ample seating inside, outside patio seating, and it seems they even serve a salad when you dine in. Got a party pack (48 pieces of legs/wing assortment and choice of 2 flavors) and a half and half (additional 16 pieces, also legs/wing assortment, also 2 flavors). Waffle fries and onion rings were also great, even though the rings are a bit lighter in color and not as crisp as fried onion rings. Service was alright. This is what brought down my rating. Servers were nice enough but kept forgetting things we had asked for/ordered (water, drinks) or things that we needed (utensils/plates). Understood it can get busy, but this made us seem like an afterthought or burden. We were seated next to the takeout area so we were able to grab most of what we needed ourselves. Other tables eventually followed suit. Not sure if someone called out that night or it's regularly like this. Hope it's just a one off. Place is tiny and intimate so wait can get long, which I don't mind doing for good food, but all in all, experience was only okay.
