A friend of mine recommended coming here since he says it's popular in Korea. So we decided to come and have me try it out. I've been here a few times since then, and now it's time for my honest review of the place. The quality, flavor, and taste of the chicken have been great and delicious, never has it made us think otherwise. The chicken is cooked just perfectly, and the flavors are rich and diverse. - The service could use some improvements. We didn't receive a menu for a while after being sat down. While we were eating, the employees were talking "privately" and laughing quite loud enough for us to hear, we heard things that we didn't want and probably shouldn't even be hearing which could make problems or make the customers feel uncomfortable and want to leave early, maybe ruin their appetites as well. We came in today and ordered a half and half 8 pieces each, and we were given 7 each flavor. We asked each other how many we ate and double-checked the menu as well. You have to go inside and ask the servers for the waitlist sheet, as it was not placed outside. It took roughly ~1.5 hours of waiting to be seated, being seated, and then waiting for our food. I can't complain because the chicken came out hot and delicious. Although over-roasted and not fried, it was still incredibly crispy and retained all the juiciness. They go HEAVY on the sauce, which can be overwhelming! I like to get Soy Garlic everywhere to have something to compare. My boyfriend and I agreed that the Soy Garlic was solid, and we preferred it to the Volcano flavor. Volcano is not very spicy, as the sweetness of the sauce masks the spice. Went to lunch here last week. Tried the baguette bowl, spicy teobokki and the wings. The cheesy bread was so good! The cheese was fluffy and I almost thought it was butter. We tried 4 flavors of wings: original, pepper crispy, sweet & spicy and soy garlic. My favorite was the soy garlic, not too sweet and with a little spicy. The sweet and spicy was also flavorful but a little too sweet for me. All wings were cooked nicely, perfect temperature and not dry. The teobokki was not bad although a little too much fish cake for my taste and I wish the sauce would have been just a little thicker. Overall great lunch place. We were a party of five and got full with 2 half and half plates. They also have boneless wings option if you do not lol the bone. The place was also very clean and not crowded. If there are two truths about Korean fried chicken, they are that the taste is out of this world delicious but that it will be out of this world expensive. I paid $22 for 8 wings and a drink before tip, and I can't say it was worth that price point. If it was closer to the $15 range I for sure would be coming here all the time for these succulent and meaty soy garlic wings. But crossing the $20 mark puts it in the range of it better being the greatest wings in the state for me to pay that all the time for only eight of them. And I was not disappointed. This place is SO good! It's a small shop with about 8 tables, but there was no wait when we went for Saturday lunch. We got the Half and Half, which came with 16 wings (2 flavors) and 2 pickled radish. We picked the Galbi flavor (sweet, savory, sticky) and Pepper (spicy, black pepper, dry) and both were great. We also got the waffle fries (delicious) and the Strawberry Soju highball (also delicious, there's a nonalcoholic version of this too). First time coming here & we didn't even get to try the food. I feel bad for the 1 server that was doing everything (taking orders, picking up phone orders, packing the to-go orders, & running around like a headless chicken). When we got there, we were seated outside cause it was packed. Took him awhile to take our order but when he did -- he was actually really nice. But despite being so busy -- he didn't get us water or beers. We waited a total of an hour at this point. The door closed on us from the outside and we got locked out. We wanted to move inside because it was getting cold and there were empty tables. But because the server was running around so much we couldn't get his attention so we called him instead. It's laughable at the point. A party of 14 (assuming it's his friends) that came rolling through -- they got water & pitcher within 20mins of being there. Honestly this was our tipping point & we left. Note to the establishment itself -- please hire more people. For it to be understaff on a Friday night is crazy to me. We got there about 12:50pm and it was a full house. There were two tables open but only for a party of two not three so they made us wait for 20 minutes. My daughter told me that this place was named after a restaurant in a K drama and they had that show playing on the big screen. The ambience is quaint but it was very congested with poor air circulation. The area where the workers were was slightly filled with smoke from cooking and the air vent wasn't containing the smoke which lead to the dining area. Plus, it was warm and it didn't feel like the air conditioning was working. It was not a pleasant atmosphere to eat in and I felt very uncomfortable. The chicken is oven baked but with the crispness of fried chicken. The food was good but not exceptional and it very over priced. They served the food with salad and pickled white radish. The baguette bowl was good and tasted like something I would buy at an Asian bakery for half the price. Also, they served eight pieces of chicken with each order but one of our order had only seven pieces so they brought us the missing one a little later. One good thing is that they brought us ice water when we sat without asking. Overall, I will not go out of my way to have this experience again. I've been curious about Goobne ever since watching Business Proposal and finally tried it! Parking was easy on a Friday night, as they seemed to be the only business still open at dinner hours. Goobne is known for oven roasted chicken, which tastes less oily and feels healthier. We ordered the medium original wings and spicy ramenbokki. Taste-wise, this would have been a 5 stars, as the chicken was hot and skin was crispy, while having a nice seasoning. However, be prepared for a long wait - we sat there for around half an hour before we got our food. I appreciate how your order comes with a side of radish and salad, as well as a tangy sauce. I got lucky, I got there just a few minutes before the line got crazy during dinner hours. Gotta say, Baguette Bowl is definitely my favorite. I'll definitely come back just for that . We decided to get the UFO for the full first time experience. The flavors we got were Pepper Crispy & Sweet n Spicy. To me, the Pepper Crispy was good, but somehow I felt it was missing a layer of flavor. Sweet n Spicy was good, but I'm more of a dry rub when it comes to chicken wings. The TPK that came with the UFO was too spicy for me but I already knew that would happen since I usually just eat mild lol. Wow this place is an actual game changer for Korean chicken!! The wings were actually incredibly crispy and juicy despite not being fried. It was honestly better than a majority of the KFC we've ever had before. The chicken meat itself is marinated and seasoned very well, making every bite so flavorful.
