1/2# brisket, 5 ribs, side green beans.

The barbecue is good, but nothing close to outstanding. They really think they're on Texas Monthly' Best list. Grossly overpriced for what you get. First and last time I will ever go there. Lousy seating on inside and it's dark and dingy. If it was a dive bar, good atmosphere but not for an overpriced average barbecue place. Rudy's has more charm than Goode.

It's been a while since I had bbq. This place did everything well. I had the 2 meat platte with ribs and brisket. The brisket was tender and juicy; ribs were tender and flavorful. The dipping sauce was very good. Side were just as good. I really enjoyed the food. The service is fast and friendly. The sinking room is uniquely decorated, loved the atmosphere.

BBQ Dinner Three Meat Chezch sausage, chicken, beef brisket with southwest green beans and jambalaya

Juicy, Smokey, and tender! Wow-I'm blown away! My first time trying Texas barbecue and you got to try the brisket! I ordered the Three Meat Dinner and came with two sides, pickles, onion, jalapeños. What a feast! The brisket was half loose cut, half lean and was tender. The chicken was a juicy leg quarter smoked and seasoned with spices on the skin. The skin was my favorite part! Also, the sausage was snappy and cooked to perfection! I got two sides: which isn't your typical traditional sides-but I opted to try something different. Southwest green beans and jambalaya-both are very unique to Texas. The bbq was on the side and I loved how I can control the flavor/sauce. Would definitely come back to try their signature baked potato.

If you're in Houston and craving legit Texas BBQ, Goode Company BBQ absolutely delivers. It's cafeteria-style ordering -- grab a tray and move down the line while the smoky goodness stares you down. I went all in with the 3-meat combo: brisket, pork ribs, and chicken. For sides, I picked mac & cheese and coleslaw, and of course it comes with that iconic slice of cheese jalapeño bread (don't skip it). I topped it all off with pickle chips because... why not? Portions are no joke. This was easily enough for two -- I ended up taking half back to my hotel for round two later. The flavors were exceptional: tender brisket, flavorful ribs, juicy chicken. The only reason it's not five stars? My food wasn't quite as hot as I would've liked. Plenty of outdoor, community-style picnic tables give it that laid-back Texas vibe -- perfect for digging in and getting a little messy. Would I come back? Oh haw yeah

Ribs, Link, and moist ribs!!with a side of slaw and fresh green beans with bacon!

Excellent BBQ I ordered brisket, ribs, link and cole slaw! The brisket is so tender, the ribs are delicious and the link is mouth watering! You come in and grab a tray and silver wear, order your meat, and drink! Service is grab your meat and pick where you want to eat inside or outside! Eric the manager comes around to make sure you are having a great experience! The ambiance is friendly and welcoming!

Goode Company bbq has been around forever but I don't know why I never ventured out to try it! For some reason, I usually think of eating Texas bbq when guests are in town, and also when I travel to other parts of Texas. However, my husband and son both wanted some brisket today so we decided to come check out Goode Company. I have to say, we were not disappointed! I almost always get turkey at Texas bbq because honestly, that's the only way I really enjoy Turkey. Goode company's turkey was moist, tender, with a nice Smokey flavor that I love about barbecue. Delicious! Ribs were tender, well seasoned, and very enjoyable. Brisket was also soft, moist, and not overly salty so that it paired perfectly with their barbecue sauce (which I liked quite a lot). I loved the sides too. And loved that the green beans had plentiful bacon in it, and the baked beans had good sized chunks of brisket. There was even baked apples in there! Amazing! Unfortunately, my 7 year old found both the green beans and baked beans too "spicy". He, however, loved the soft pillow jalepeno cheese bread which we also liked very much. Everyone was happy with the food and we all left satisfied. Definitely would bring an out of town guest here to enjoy some Texas Bbq, ESPECIALLY since there was no wait, compared to other yummy Texas bbq joints where you have to test your patience (waiting in line) before being counted worthy to eat!

Turkey & brisket sandwhich, sauce on the side

Came here with some Yelpers to do some scouting and planning. Service- was amazing. No line on a Saturday? Wonderful. Its a cafeteria style ordering process. They checked on us after we were seated at least 5 times. And I appreciated it. Seemed sincere! Food- was fine. I ordered the po'boy you can order it with 2 kinds of meats. I decided on brisket, turkey. But really its just a sandwhich i suppose. I didn't realize both meats come on the sandwich. Then you get your fixings at the register, the pickles, onions, jalapeños. It's not the best I have ever had, but solid, easy option. I was most impressed with the service. I see why they stay in business!

This is truly Great Texas BBQ !! I've been eating here since the mid '70s !! Great tender , moist and delicious Brisket, Ribs , and Chicken and I love the BBQ SAUCE here !! The sides are very good as well , with HUGE Baked Potatoes and this place has the best baked beans I've ever had at a restaurant !! The pecan pie here is delicious and definitely a must have !! All the desserts are yummy here !! You must come by and try this Original location BBQ !!

I hadn't been here in years and I am now very sad about that fact! Eating here was such a great and delicious experience. There was a line, but I can now say that waiting was truly worth it. The service was organized to a tee. The line moved quickly and every employee knew what they were doing and did it well. The inside was roomy and had a fun Texan decor. We got the ribs, sausage and chicken and they were delicious! The meat was succulent and well marinated. The sides were standouts as well, with the potato salad and Mac and cheese having unique flavors that I cannot wait to try again. And those chocolate chip cookies were a masterpiece. A great bbq spot!

If you have been in Houston for any extended amount of time, Goode Company is a name I am sure you have seen at some point. The Goode name is associated with a variety of restaurants like seafood, a taqueria, a cantina, American food/event space, and of course their popular BBQ. I've had their food catered at events at people's houses, work and of course the Rodeo. I just recently finally stepped foot into their OG BBQ spot on Kirby. We originally were going to eat at their sister restaurant Armadillo Palace next door, but the smell of BBQ had us moseying on over here. You can't miss it, it's probably the only barn on Kirby. They have a decent sized parking lot out back. Outside they have a large patio with lots of big tables. They also have fan and misters on for those hot Texas days. It was a little hot so I was happy to see they have inside seating as well. Inside dining space is pretty tight but available. We must have walked in at the right time because there was plenty of seats right then, but it quickly got busy after we sat down. Customer service was really good from the ordering line to folks checking in on us constantly throughout our meal. Like most other BBQ spots, you have a cafeteria style line. You pick your items and go enjoy your meal. Same here. They offer meats by weight, plates, baked potatoes, sandwiches, sides and dessert. I usually go with a three meat plate but went with the two as I had dinner plans later. I judge a BBQ spot on brisket, ribs, and sausage so I went with the first two and got to try sausage from one of my dining companions plates. For my sides, I had to get the mac & cheese and let the man behind the counter pick my other side which ended up being southwest green beans. The plates also come with a slice of jalapeno cheese bread and sauce. You can help yourself to all the pickles, jalapenos and onions to go with your meal. First thing I went for was the rib. The rib was seasoned nice and almost fall off the bone tender. The brisket was ok. I'm used to big thick slices but this was very thin, tiny pieces of meat. That being said, the food is slightly cheaper than some of the big name BBQ spots in town so you get what you pay for. The sides were really good to me. Mac was solid but the star of the whole show was the green beans. I kept saying how much I liked them throughout my meal. I washed it all down with ice cold lemonade. It was a little too tangy for me, but solid. The desserts looked great, but no room this time around. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here. I wouldn't say it's top tier BBQ, but a good option to have if you don't want to wait hours in line like some of the other places in town. I'd come back!

Smokiness, savory and juicy! OMG We ordered the stuffed brisket potatoes and they were delicious!! Tasty!! The brisket was so tender, not dry at all! Just perfect combination with the super creamy potato!! Bbq sauce was good too!! Not too overwhelming with the spices!! I wish they had a spicy one! The creamy Mac and cheese was very soft and not dry at all! Whatever cheese they use, stays creamy and coats every piece of Mac!! The bbq beans had sweet potato!! First time trying beans like this and let me tell you they were tasty!!! Ofcourse I had to get the banana pudding, chocolate cookie and pecan candy!!! All 3 going home with me but had to take a bite before leaving, and yummmm no disappointment there! Very tasty a smooth banana pudding, and the cookie was chonky and chewy!!! Yes!! I love cookies and not everyone hits that sweet tooth spot! The pecan candy was Perfect! Reminded me of Mexico candy!! Delicious!!! The ambience is very chill and private, inside sitting is nice with the dark lighting! Loved it! There's also outside sitting area The customer service was awesome by all the Mexicanos!! They just have that extra always going on and beyond to be kind and friendly and attentive! If owner is reading this? They are really taking care of your place! And deserve be acknowledged! The guy who doesn't speak Spanish and has a deep voice needs to be more friendly and welcoming! Come on!! Not that hard when your coworkers are naturally bringing that good vibe to the place!! Will definitely come back! New bbq spot! Love it!!

We did a to-go order last night. Food was very good - especially liked the jalapeno pork sausage. Sliced beef was cut very lean as requested. Pecan pie was OK, but not spectacular. A decent assortment of jalapenos, sliced onions, pickles and a container of BBQ sauce (not sweet) on the side. An enjoyable dinner.

Talk turkey to me...or pecan pie.... "You might give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars you're in Texas"-Goode Company Barbeque's Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie in a Wooden Box Voted Best Mail Order Pie by Bloomberg! So, I know that Thanksgiving is all about the turkey, but here in Texas we also take our pecan pies seriously, too. So when I was asked to bring desserts to our family gatherings (and I was too busy to bake as I was unexpectedly on call), I knew that it had to be a Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie. This pecan pie just oozes Texas. It is bigger, it is gooier and it is richer. Filled with fresh Texas pecans harvested from the banks of the Brazos River and then nestled into luscious layers of homemade Goode-ness. Oh, and their barbeque is so Goode, too. Not in Texas? They ship. Sign up for their discounts and enjoy a sweet taste of Texas even if you are not in the Lone Star State.

The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.

The food, as I expected, was mediocre. The waitstaff were very friendly, polite, and came right away after noticing all our waving hands that were visible over a lot of empty tables. The only redeeming quality was that for the four of us the bill was $155.00 including wine. As they say, you get what you pay for. It's not fine dining but if you have a large family and a budget, you can't go wrong with Hungry's for dinner.
