I had service on 11/29 . Antonio was the worker who contacted me. I was quoted $700.00 to replace a shower cartridge which I thought was too much but I was away from home and wanted my shower working. I agreed because I was 43 miles away working. I was then told the entire shower valve would have to be replaced and the risers would be replaced also. I requested ball valves to be install for shutoffs. I was quoted $2699 which I thought was way too much but the risers would be replaced and I was away from home. I agreed to the price. I was told later that the risers couldn't be replaced because went too far down the wall. A new shower valve and trim kit were installed. I was told the job was done and provided payment over the phone job unseen because I was still working. When I got home and inspected the job, I saw a huge hole in the closet where the access to the pipes was visible. There was minimal cooper replacement of the plumbing. Approximately 2-3 feet of work leaving most of the existing galvanized pipe untouched. No shut off ball valves were install as discussed, which was possible. Other galvanized sections that could have been replaced were not. With the Moen shower valve and trim kit and fittings, I couldn't see more than $500 in parts and that is being generous. I was never given a downgraded price for the downgraded work preformed. I feel I was taken very much advantaged of with the price charged for the work performed. A few days latter I received a text message from Lexus requesting a review of Martin D. who I didn't know. I called to discuss the matter and talked with Jake the manager. He said usually a job of replacing a shower valve was only $1350.00 and he would have to look into the work. During the cold weather of February, one of my kitchen sinks would not drain. My husband attempted to fix it by cleaning the trap, but that did not solve the problem. On recommendation of a friend, I called Goode Plumbing. They made an appointment for the next day and indicated that there was a $60.00 service call charge for coming out. The plumber that arrived was very professional and seemed like a genuinely nice person. After commenting that he was seeing alot of frozen pipes because of the extreme cold, I was quoted $489.00 to rod my sink. As we had several leaky faucets and toilet issues, I also asked the plumber to quote me a price on while he was in my home before we got to the kitchen sink. The quotes ranged from $523.00 - $784.00 for each repair which seemed quite pricey. I was assured that I could receive a discount on this price by joining their program or if I was going to do all of the work the owner would give me a better rate. I was told that he had already asked dispatch for the owner to call me, so I should get that price shortly. To date, I have not received a call or email with that "better rate". As for the sink that wouldn't drain, the plumber went out to his truck and came back to the house with a second plumber and some tools. In short order, they told me that the tool would not rod all the way through and likely my pipe was frozen. The plumber indicated that he was very sorry but since they had already done the rodding, they would have to charge me. I did follow up with Goode Plumbing about this charge, without response. My issue is that since the plumber knew that pipes were freezing because it was so cold outside, shouldn't he have looked at that first as part of the service call before charging me $489 for rodding a pipe that did not need to be rodded? That seems wrong. Beyond that, and seemingly being quite pricey, no issues. read more

Communication within the company is horrifyingly nonexistent. Was dealing with insufficient water getting into my dishwasher so two techs came out, told me they could fix the issue in the moment for $350. Turns out that work was not able to fix the issue and they needed to come back when the hot water could be turned off throughout the entire building for another repair that would cost me an additional $350. Arranged for techs to come out on a Monday morning, and the person who showed up was not a tech but rather someone from Goode who was going to "assess what needed to be done" to determine when they could send people out to fix it. All despite me already having this assessment done and confirming and approving the work. So he had to send out completely different techs than those who were here for the original "fix." And when they showed up they told me it was *MY* responsibility to have turned off the hot water throughout my entire building - not their responsibility, despite this NEVER being communicated to me by Goode. They get the water turned off and when they finished their work I was assured TWICE by Goode that they had turned the hot water back on. Well they had in fact NOT turned the hot water back on so the ENTIRE condo building was without hot water. I called their emergency line and they advised their on-call tech could come out and turn it back on - he never came and there was never a single follow-up communication from Goode to me about whether someone was coming out to fix the issue that evening or not. So my condo building had to have a DIFFERENT plumber come out on an emergency call for which I am now going to be charged - all because of Goode's incompetency. And I have called to tell them they will be paying for the emergency call bill because of their error, their miscommunications, and their mess-up - NOT mine - and they would not even take my complaint because it had to go to "management." read more

I needed to replace the faucet in my basement sink. The plumber was very nice and worked quickly. They had a second guy come out and deliver the required parts so the plumber at my home could start working right away. He gave me two different options for me to choose from. The job was done quickly and he cleaned up pretty well. They were low pressure and did not try to upsell me any other services. I had a different plumbing company out here before for another issues and that plumber went to every bathroom and kitchen and he gave me estimates on things I didn't even ask for. The only thing I will say is that Goode Plumbing is somewhat overpriced compared to other companies although they are not the highest, I'd say their prices are above average. read more

The plumber who came out was wonderful - gave me a quote for the work and I quickly signed on the iPad and put down a deposit for 50%. I realized I could instead get the cost covered by my home warranty but needed to use their plumber. I called Goode and put the work on hold within 24 hours. When I cancelled the job I was charged 10% of the total job cost. While I now know that was in the contract and understand I SHOULD have read it, I was not told verbally and the contract was presented to me on an iPad with just the signature line. I spoke with the company and also asked for a call back from the manager, which I never received. Disappointed to be out almost $200. read more

I highly recommend Goode Plumbing because everyone I've encountered from the company is caring and professional. They are large enough to provide 24-hr service, but small enough to be on a first-name basis with customers. Our bathroom had a flash-flood leak onto the tenants below in our 100-yr-old building. The leaking increased until we could no longer use any plumbing in the bathroom or kitchen. We called our usual company to do the work on a Saturday (they didn't arrive). So, I called Goode on Sunday morning in desperation. Adan, the technician who arrived within a couple of hours, was incredibly friendly and diagnosed the problem in a few minutes. The work was done the next morning before noon, supervised by Ian, who called to follow up with me and explain all of the final details. Just an amazing experience, and so professionally managed at all stages. I have no problem with the quality of their work. I do have issues with their trustworthiness. My wife engaged their services. They ended up replacing a working sump pump, a working back-up pump, a back-up power supply, and functional PVC pipes and check valves. They claimed that the sump pump was too old (12 years old, but working), that the back-up unit did not work (I regularly check the unit and checked it again after they left--It works fine) and they replaced working PVC, power supply or battery--I had recently replaced the battery myself. If you do not feel confident about issues with your sump pump, these are not the trusted advisors for you. read more

NEW UPDATE: Exactly one year later, this ceiling leak returned. After I posted my critical review, the owner Michael reached out to me directly, to rectify this problem. They offered two solutions, both of which took into account how much we paid for the initial work. We chose to have it corrected as part of their warranty program - at no cost to us! This was a large job that required two Plumbers, for several hours, yet it was all covered under warranty!! This was very much appreciated and I can't thank them enough for that. I have two young children under 4, and one morning our kitchen sink was clogged and backed up. Too much uneaten kid food down the drain. I called but they were full for the day as well as the following. But Autumn who I spoke with was tremendously kind and put me on the waitlist. She also scheduled me for an appointment that was next available so if I didn't get the waitlist at least I would have an appointment. Luckily something opened up! Joe and his apprentice Dave showed up around 2:30 PM. They diagnosed the problem quickly walked me through the options and proceeded to take care of the job... no joke but our garbage disposal busted from all the overwork trying to clear the clog while they there and started smoking. They were quick to take care of the issue they also had a garbage disposal repair on the truck so they were able to make the install same day. They did have to run back to the office for a part but once they arrived they got the job done quickly efficiently and very courteous all the while. They ended up staying past 6:30 on a Sunday to ensure everything was taken care of. No leaks. Everything works. Before heading out. Kudos to Joe, Dave, and Autumn. Goode wanted to charge me $120/hr just to come over and get an estimate! I have two outdoor spigots that I wanted to have replaced. Goode would not give me a rough cost estimate over the phone. Instead a technician would have to come over at a cost of $60. This job can't get more simpler and yet I have to pay them $60 for the privilege of them giving me a 10 min estimate. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and allowed them 30 min: $60 for taking 10 min looking at 2 spigots. Crazy. read more

With six inches of rain in a 24 hour period, our sump pump failed and our finished basement flooded. The installer Mikey was great. The cost, in hindsight, was anything but great. My total cost was $4591.00, "member pricing" which I earned by spending an addl $520.00 on a two-year membership / maintenance plan. So, altogether, I was $5111.00 out of pocket. Goode, like many home contractors, is opaque in their pricing. There is no breakdown, no component parts. And clearly, here is why: Mikey installed an ION Genesis sump pump, and an ION Storm Pro 35ACI Deluxe battery backup system. Searching Google, you can find those for as low as $1299.99 sold together (not including battery). Adding a few hundred for a battery means that I paid around $3k for labor, which feels excessive, to say the least. Disappointing, and a lesson learned. read more

2020 hasn't been a great year. On top of the pandemic, my toilet decides to stop working. I wasn't sure if there was an issue with a pipe or toilet itself but it definitely wasn't flushing. I put out a request on Yelp and Goode responded almost immediately. I booked an appointment the next day. The company is paperless and sent notifications by text. COVID-19 protocols were closely followed. I was given 3 different options and price points to pick from once the situation was assessed. I opted for the 2nd fix which was a new toilet but not the fancy expensive one. I liked how I could choose from different solutions and price points. I have a small Chicago bungalow, and the plumbing was largely ancient and corroded galvanized steel. Ronny came and gave us a thorough and fair estimate for this large plumbing job. Before, our hot and cold water ran at different pressure, now they are both at high pressure. Before, only one shower could be used at a time, now they can both be used. Before, we had to choose whether to run the dishwasher or do a load of laundry, now we don't have to worry. The two guys that came to my place from Goode were very professional and pleasant. They took the time to identify the leak in my upstairs bathroom when it wasn't evident at first, If I were ranking Goode purely on the two guys that showed up, I would give them 4 or 5 stars. I am only giving three stars because I feel that Goode is a bit overpriced for the service I received. Water was leaking from my upstairs bathroom into my kitchen below through a recess light. Goode cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling to look at the pipes above, which they quoted me would cost $333. I agreed. The issue ended up being a very small bit of grout being worn away where the handheld shower nozzle connects to the wall. The fix was a $5 tube of silicone to seal the spot where the missing grout was. Workers were at my house for about 40 minutes. Comparing prices with other companies afterward, $333 just to open up a ceiling is pretty high. Drain-Eeez charges by the hour for that service, and had I used them it would have only cost me $150. When I called Goode about this, they said that $333 was their set price for that service. Fair enough. They did quote me the price before cutting the hole, and I did agree, so it isn't like they lied to me or were sneaky or anything. Just a lot of money to pay for someone cutting a hole in your ceiling that will cost $300 to fix (and it is much more labor intensive to fix it than cut it). Maybe they are more reasonably priced for other services, but if you need a hole cut in your ceiling, go with Drain-Eez or, better yet, do it yourself. read more

DO NOT USE GOODE!! This is why: Our building has a VIP lifetime membership with Goode but let me tell you that it is FAR from "VIP" service. We were experiencing a hot water issue so called Goode to assess and they advised that it was a piping issue. We trusted that they knew what the issue was, being the plumbing professionals, so we scheduled the $1400 plumbing work to be done, expecting it would solve our hot water issue. First off, the first date we scheduled, the plumber didn't have the right parts so we had to reschedule. The second time the plumber didn't have the right information and didn't advise us that we had to turn off the water for at least 3 hours, so we had to reschedule a second time. Finally, we took time out of our Sunday to have the work done and ensure we were home for 3 hours while the plumber was completing the work. After the work was done, nothing changed and were experiencing the same hot water issue. My husband and I looked at the water heater and noticed that there was a light signaling "ignition lockout", meaning no hot water was being produced - something you would think a plumber assessing for hot water would automatically check. We had Goode come back in, showed them the ignition issue, they cleaned the spark plug and voila! We had hot water! We know we needed the spark plug replaced but a part like that typically costs ~$50. We received a quote for $500, which was ridiculous, especially since we just paid them $1400 for work that did NOTHING. With a limited budget, we were not going to spend an additional $500 for a replacement that should have been done at the very beginning. I spent an hour on the phone with Goode explaining our situation and asked if someone could come out and clean the spark plug again until we had the funds for the replacement part. I was told that they would come out but for a $300 fee - RIDICULOUS. It took the plumber 10 minutes to "clean" the spark plug, which was the plumber rubbing a $1 bill on the spark plug.... there was no way we would pay $300 for that. After an hour of explaining the situation and their lack of customer service and expertise in assessing our issue, the best they could offer was $450 for the replacement part. We decided to go with another plumber that charged a quarter of what Goode quoted to replace the spark plug and we will NOT being using them again. Stay away, they take advantage of people that do not understand plumbing and will charge you an arm and a leg for it!! read more

So I brought a building in 2020 and have had to use Goode Plumbing several times since then for various issues . I've been impressed by their skill, knowledge, and professionalism every time. I have had to use them for a gas leak, to light a water heater, to fix a collapsed clay drain pipe, and to fix a leaking sink. The work they have done for me has been excellent. On a couple occasions I have had to have them come out to troubleshoot an ongoing issue with the drainage of the bathroom in my couch house that results from a poor remodeling job by the previous owner. They have been kind enough to clear the lines as a courtesy and not charge me. When I am able to afford fix the issue I plan on using them. read more

These guys are the best in the city. I own a three-flat and have had a hard time finding smart honest folks who know plumbing. The first guy they sent out, Brian, surpassed my expectations. He was thorough and took great care to explain things that turned out to be quite complicated. Best of all (I am a visual thinker) he drew explanatory diagrams that showed me what was happening across the building and what he needed to do . A real gem. After several times calling him for other things--and him doing the work, I was "forced" to have someone else come out. I was upset. HOWEVER: Tyler and Nick were awesome!! Goode Plumbing is the BEST! I came downstairs the other morning to my kitchen ceiling raining. Water was coming out of the lighting fixtures, the ceiling drywall was water logged, it was a mess. We called out another plumbing company with a similar name and they looked at it for 5 minutes, said it was the grout and left with our $200. They didn't try to recreate the problem or isolate the leak, just looked at the shower and said "grout". So bogus. I called Goode Plumbing for a second opinion and the diligently isolated all the individual components of our plumbing system and tested, trying to recreate the leak. Their $60 fee was more than reasonable for time and expertise they brought to solving the problem. I would recommend Goode to anyone looking for a fairly priced, expert plumbing company. read more

I said thanks for the estimate and didn't use their service. I received an email Jan 3rd saying my account is past due and threatening legal action. I responded saying I never had the work done. Today I received a phone call saying my card was being charged!!!! Charged for work I never had done. Illegal practices. The better business bureau and city licensing are going to be notified. In addition, I made a police report regarding this theft. If anyone wants to see the email or hear the VM reach out to me. This company should be shut down. read more

Signed up for service to install a bidet fixture, was put in a queue for a 9:00 appointment. Was confirmed a day ahead by text, again that I was in a queue. 9:00 on the day arrived and was texted it would be after 11 AM. Didn't hear back at 11, texted and was told it would be after 1 PM. At 1:55 texted and received no reply. Called office and message informed me no one was answering phones -- and they are supposed to be open 24 hours! Texted back to cancel service and tell them negative review was forthcoming. From now on, only individual operators who come recommended will get my business. read more

When not 1, 2 or 3 but 8! people from a business come to assess your plumbing issue, and one of them is the owner, it's hard to be anything but impressed. They were literally the first company to call us back when the drainage system in our house was clogged to the point of not functioning anymore. The issue was properly assessed and cleared, and our life was back on track. But this fix exposed a different and much harder problem to repair- a tiny hole in a pipe deep inside the wall between a shower and a kitchen. It looked like our options were all going to be awful, a new hole in our shower to get at the pipe to repair it, or tearing out part of the kitchen to do the same. I was dreading whatever came next and couldn't agree to either option because it would just leave me with new problems and more costs. That's when the owner, Mike Goode came to assess things for himself. He came up with a plan of action that was ten times less destructive and also ten times harder to do, but he was committed to making sure we were totally satisfied. Garen, part surgeon and part circus contortionist, managed to get at the issue through a hole deep in a kitchen cabinet and once he was finished it barely looked like we'd ever had a problem in the first place. I don't know how he did it, but I feel like my house had plastic surgery and is 40 years younger as a result. It was money well spent. Lots of companies these days say lots of things that are hard to believe. But when Mike Goode says "Our Goal: Your Complete Satisfaction", it's not just a sales pitch, it's a company philosophy.
