The Good Guys Shows fills the Alameda County Fairgrounds several times a year. I try to go to at least one of the shows to drool over the cars that I had in the past or wished I had in the past, and really want now. This year as I wandered around, I stopped in the cars for sale section. I realized that even for a restore project I would have to take a large 2nd mortgage to buy the car and begin the project. So I guess a classic car will not be sitting at my house anytime soon There are beautiful cars all over the fairgrounds. There is a muscle car racing circle where the hotshots race, a market place for parts and live music in several locations. And there are several places to buy food. I can spend all day at this show so it one event I always go to by myself; I can take my time and not have to worry that someone else is not as intrigued as I am. There is an admission to this show and it cost to park at the fairgrounds. This year I did buy a SocialLiving coupon for one show and found an online coupon for the other show. read more

pleasanton show on 3/27/22, $15 parking $25 per person fee, wtf?? half the cars that there use to be, crackle fest closed early and the food stations $16 for fries $16 for a hot dog, $16 for a beer you can do the math!!! are you all trying to make up for losses from previous year? i mean come on trying to bring the family just to see cars this is a little steep goodguys. if you are going to be charging these prices atleast have some cars there!!!! the place was empty and weak. read more

We are members of Goodguys Rod Custom Association. One of the reasons I fell in love with my husband was because he loves cars and has plenty to take to a car show. This year we brought 2, our 68 Fastback Mustang and our 73 Mercury XR7 Cougar. To get these cars ready for the show is a multi month long ordeal that yelp readers don't have time for. We get to the Alameda Fairgrounds at around 6:30 in the morning in order to get a good spot under the trees for the shade. This year there was about 2500 cars registered so getting there early is crucial to getting a good spot. I am giving 3 stars because Goodguys is really disorganized. The lines to register for the event have no rhyme or reason and no one seems to care. The lines when driving into the event are disorganized and hectic and they make you drive on dirt roads sometimes to get in. No so great after spent hours detailing your car to just drive through a giant dust filled cloud that may have small pebbles flying through. Jerks. They have a Car Corral where you can bring your cars to sell. Any kind of car. You may consider trying this because when you take your car to sell you also get a ticket to go to the show so you could leave your mini van in the Car Corral with your cell number on it and go check out the rest of the show. There were some really cool cars even there that were for sale. This year they debuted the Auto Cross Track. It looked like a go-kart track. This was not a track for muscle cars. Probably the worst track I have ever seen in my life. There was no way you could get in there and open it up. Someone crashed their car too. You could see that if you really didn't know how your car handled in those tight turns you could loose control. The swap meet is alright. I bought a vintage slides movie screen for $20 that was fully equipped. I also got an actual photograph of Marilyn Monroe. Actual as in it was a newly printed as a photograph from the original negative for $10. I was looking for vintage license plates from Arizona and didn't see any. Tons of cars this year. We go to this show because the other shows are for older years and non of our cars fit the criteria for those years. All of our cars are 65 and younger. This review is for the 19th Annual Summer Get Together. Thanks to all at the Good Guys Association for the first time allowing bicycles to be apart of this years show. Behind Bars Inc. was their liaison into the custom bicycle scene and as usual Dom and crew came through with a nice variety of bikes that represent several styles to have on their showroom floor. Our club took home 2 awards that were presented and it was much appreciated as this was the first time we'd even been entered into such a large and well respected show! Several times as we were walking around the show we just had to stop and admire the craftsmanship that went into all the cars that were on show. The swap meet had vendors selling the expected car parts and accessories but there also some selling toys, clothing, wagons, bikes and even a guy selling military surplus stuff! Didn't know a car show swap meet had that much selection, will bring cash next year to make purchases! Food selection was pretty good too corn dogs, burgers, BBQ and Funnel Cake!!!! Side note to the food: Hit up Dickie's BBQ outside of the show. Their food isn't priced too high and it's actually pretty damned good! Okay back to the show, the beers are expensive @ $8 for a regular and $11 for a larger but it's to be expected, I'm sure the Association put up a lot of dough for their alcohol permit so it's no surprise the goods were pricey. My only gripe about the show was, there were a few ATMs that were out of cash. Which was probably because the beer stands weren't taking credit cards. But there was a restaurant with taps that did take cards so it was all good! Thanks for a great show and hope to be back next year! read more

I'm not a member of the assoc. but I did go to the show today at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds. There sure were a lot of Rods and Customs. Some pretty nice cars if you like 50's, 60's and 70's American. I enjoy checking them out but I've never owned one. It's kind of historic, and nostalgic, in a way. However I could do without seeing the big chrome wheels. I mean what is with putting huge wheels on every type of car. It just looks so pimp. The show is on tomorrow, June 3, 2007 and then again next year, just like every year. I try to make it to the fairgrounds anytime there is an event and it is always spectacular. Plenty of street and hot rods, good vibes and great bbq! It would be nice if there were more choices then typical burger and hotdogs but I guess it all mixes in well with classic muscle. I will and alway come back! read more

What a shame, I was so disappointed and sad. Kids can't even go to this show anymore and lots of people were so mad. I will stop going to this event. I am a Veteran and am ashamed. The entire event people were smoking Marijuana Pot. It was terrible, you couldn't walk in any direction without getting hit with a cloud of the smoke pot. It is a shame that so many people can't be descent for just a short amount of time without doing drugs. What a bad day and a sad joke. read more

I left there smelling like a mix of exhaust, street meat, and gasoline. I would expect nothing less from a car show. Not only do you get up close and personal with these old beauties but you also get to see them perform in a small road course. It was a decent way to spend a weekend afternoon but admission is $17 bucks. So you might be disappointed if you are not into Americana and cars. read more

Yesterday was my last visit to Good Guys unPleasanton. The show directors obvious dont care about the attendees once they have paid $18.00 to walk around with no real seating for the older folks. I like car shows and such stuff, it takes me back to when I grew up, and the cars I loved and wanted. Good Guys at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds is a show that is almost too big. It is impossible to see everything in one day. There are lots of car related vendors, and cars for sale and a swap meet...more or less. The swap meet is like all swap meets now, where there is a hand full of individuals, if any, and the rest are all commercial retail booths. The nice thing is you can see and inspect the products first hand. I hadn't been to the Good Guys show is some time, and I expected changes but... Here is where I am critical: There is no way to get water, beer, or soda, without standing in line for 25 minutes; I timed it. If you are trapped at the show all day, there should be either more outlets or there should be a source of water easily available to the customers. The food lines are long too, but you can go a day without a corn dog, but not without liquids. There use to be little carts with food and drink, but they are all gone. I noticed that most of the "drink only" stands had a Good Guys logo, so I think they have taken over an extremely lucrative vendor operation. With parking it cost $23.00 to go to the show, so they are not exactly going broke; the crowd was huge. read more
