Great coffee and service. I really like the bagel options. They were out of the bagel lox the first time we went, but I got it the next time. It's super flavorful and not too large, which I prefer. My daughter liked the whipped cream cheese with hers. They also have sweet options, but we preferred the savory. Like in all places downtown, be sure to pay the parking meter! Right after I got out of my car the parking patrol drove by to make sure I was paid up. It made me be sure to leave right on time so I wasn't over a minute. read more

I was greeted when I came in and given a moment to review the menu. I came after the morning rush so missed out on what appeared to be a large pastry case. They do have bagels and bagel sandwiches as well but that was a bit more than I'd planned on eating at this time. I settled on a spiced vanilla latte and cranberry oatmeal cookie. The vanilla spice latte is delish and has a bit of a bite to it with the ginger and spices used. This complimented the cranberry oatmeal cookie perfectly! Stopped by for the first time last week and was pleasantly surprised how delicious my latte was. The shop ambiance is open and inviting, with plenty of spaces to hunker down and get work done e on your laptop. I always like to order from the seasonal menus at coffee shops for fun new flavor combos, and the (marzipan??) latte here didn't disappoint. Without being overly sweet, it still packed plenty of flavor while letting the coffee shine through. Just when I think I've visited all the cool coffee shops in Sac, I discover another. Really needed an afternoon pick me up and decided to try Goodside Coffee again after my Yelp event. We ordered a hot Raspberry Nirvana and a iced Dirty Chai Latte. They were about to close in 30 minutes and the baristas were still extremely nice and friendly! The Dirty Chai Latte did its job. I didn't taste much of the chai, but it was still a great drink. The Raspberry Nirvana was the favorite out of the two. Perfect amount of sweetness and bitterness. I do wish it was just a tad bit hotter because it cooled down pretty quickly. I will definitely come back again and I love how it's close enough to my work, so I on weekdays when I need a cup of coffee I know where to go! read more

Fell in love with this place and Im so sad i dont live closer:( If youre looking for a yummy coffee spot I highly recommend coming here! Love the ambiance in here. Bathrooms are available for customers:) I ordered the honey spice cappuccino with oat milk (9/10) and the Bagel &Lox (10/10). I felt like the coffee was a little watered down by the sweeter or milk (could have had a stronger coffee taste) but it was still so delicious! The bagel and lox is a must have!!! This is my second time back since our first visit. I was much happier with the customer service this time around. They welcomed us when we walked in and I didn't feel rushed by the person ringing us up. The baristas were also so friendly and helpful. I heard about their winter menu and I love when coffee shops have seasonal drinks! I was especially excited about the raspberry nirvana latte, and it didn't disappoint. I wish more places did raspberry! It was the perfect sweetness. My husband doesn't normally like fruity coffee drinks but he really enjoyed this one. We almost got two of those but I wanted to try something else too so we also had the cabin fever latte, which has maple syrup, brown sugar and cinnamon. It was yummy but nothing super unique, so I kinda wish we did get two of the raspberry ones! It was breakfast time so we decided to get some bagels too. Coincidentally it is also National Bagel Day so I think it was meant to be! We picked both of the breakfast bagels - the New Yorker and the Un-French Toast. I think they were a bit overpriced at $10 and $9 respectively since it doesn't come with a side or anything, just the loaded bagel itself. I feel like the one with egg could go for $8 at most. My Un-French Toast bagel was pretty good but I didn't like how hard it was to bite through. As a result it was super messy but once I got a bite it was tasty. I had a much better experience this time around with their seasonal drinks so I will definitely be back when the next menu comes out! read more

My absolute favorite local coffee shop!! I love the seasonal drinks and the baked goods are delicious and fresh. Their coffee is delicious every time and their iced teas are so refreshing, especially in the warmer months! I've been looking forward to trying Goodside for a while now. The drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste, but I definitely appreciated the variety in the selection of drinks they had to offer. We tried the Honey Lavender Latte and the Raspberry Vanilla Oat Milk Mocha. The staff was very accommodating to the request to make the Raspberry Vanilla Oat Milk Mocha decaf. The service was very friendly and helpful. While my personal preference would be for the drink to be less sweet, I liked that the lavender still was very present in the flavor of my drink. I do wish they did latte art though; I guess I've started expecting that since it now seems to be the norm for a lot of coffee shops. While I didn't love what I ordered, I'll be back to try different seasonal drinks they offer. read more

Another top tier coffee shop in the Sacramento area. I've been wanting to try this place out. It's very aesthetic and modern looking. The menu is not vast, but has the basic things at a coffee shop. However, I decided to order from the winter menu. I tried the s'more the merrier hot, and it was sooo good. There was so much flavor depth in this. I drank it so fast because it was delicious, but I had to tell myself to slow down so I could enjoy it. My friend got the iced version and she loved it too. The staff were very kind. And the area is clean. There are plenty of tables and chairs inside and outside, but it was a busy Saturday, so we didn't find a seat right away. *TL,DR: Don't come here with young kids. My family and I (including our toddler) came here twice this week as we're back in our hometown for some family events. On Sunday, we had a pleasant experience with friendly staff and enjoyed the drinks and space, so decided we would come back again today (Tuesday). We sat in the same area, taking one table and using the bench as overflow as we had 5 adults and a toddler. The cashier was the same helping us both days and he was really nice and helpful. On Sunday, there was a different barista that was friendly. The reason for my one star review is because of the barista today. I believe he is one of the owners. My sister in law came up to him after we had spilled a little bit of coffee (just a few drops) to ask for a few napkins. Unsolicitedly, he suggested that we sit outside in 100 degree weather because we were using the bench to sit. He said they like to keep it clear for a waiting area. Ok, if you want to do that maybe label the bench "for waiting only" ? We declined as it was too hot for our family, and cleared out half the bench as one small table wasn't enough for us (the rest of the tables were already full). I'm pretty sure he just wanted us out of the coffee shop. Sure, we were a little louder than their other guests who were working on their laptops, we were "cheers"ing our drinks with our toddler, she was saying "cheese!" as she pretended to take pictures on her fisher price phone, but no screaming and we felt that the music was at a good level that we weren't causing a nuisance to the other guests in general with our conversations. We try to be mindful of others, though we generally expect that coffee shops shouldn't be completely silent and we should still be able to enjoy a cup of coffee as a family. The rest of the time we were there, we were watched with the meanest looking glares. Understanding that we were overstaying our welcome, we were trying to finish up our coffees and bagel, but my daughter was getting antsy, so my husband walked her towards the coffee display and back a couple of times. She giggled a bit here and there, but didn't bother any of the guests and even got some smiles from the tables as I watched them from a distance. The barista gave the nastiest glares at them. After a few minutes of death glares, we felt too uncomfortable to stay. Congratulations, if that was his intent. We asked for takeaway cups for our drinks and received the coldest service from the barista before we left. We are people who appreciate good coffee and usually go to Temple but have been trying other local coffee shops in the area. We have always received kind and welcoming reception at every coffee shop we've gone to and are mindful to look for spaces where there would be seating and some room to walk around, so that our toddler would not melt down. I'm not sure if the barista was having a bad day or if he just didn't want guests with small children around. I would not recommend bringing your family here if you have young kids as you will not be treated kindly. Maybe if the owner/barista (I think his name is Chuck) wasn't around. There are plenty of other coffee shops around Sacramento that we will continue to explore. Edited to add: Looked through the low star reviews on this place and realized it's really a hit or miss service by the owner. Maybe it was a bad day for him, or again, we didn't fit his preferred customer demographic. read more

Love this location, kind of set apart from the busiest areas of midtown. The interior feels nice and open with the large windows/high ceilings, and also features a beautiful mural on one wall and gorgeous wallpaper on the opposite wall. Street parking is plentiful and easy- just be sure to pay attention to the one-way streets. The espresso drinks here are excellent, full-bodied flavor and smooth. We usually like to try the seasonal creations, they are always so delicious. Most recently, we got the Cabin Fever and the Winter Spice vanilla latte- I got my winter spice latte half-sweet, but still felt like it was a bit too sweet for my liking. Their pastry case features a variety of savory and sweet options. My husband loves the chocolate croissant here, it was very flaky and delicious. The cheddar scone caught my eye during our most recent visit, but I ended up getting the New Yorker bagel sandwich on everything bagel. When my bagel came out, I definitely felt like it was over-toasted; the sesame seeds on both sides were burnt and the bagel itself was extremely hard to chew through. I've been following Goodside on IG for a while now. I was so excited to finally get a chance to try it out. I've been trying to extend my coffee horizons and try drinks outside of my comfort zone. Usually, I stick to cold brews or iced coffees. This time I went totally outside of my zone by having a Honey Spice Latte. I am not a fan of spices in my drinks and honey in my latte is a relatively new discovery for me. But my coffee buddy recommended it so I decided to give it a shot. Holy cow! This drink was a game changer for me. The sweetness of the honey balanced perfectly with the spices. None of the spices were overpowering and I didn't have to add any sugar or sweetener to the drink. I usually prefer my drinks on the sweeter side, but I found that this drink was great exactly as it was. When I was speaking with the barista about my tendency to gravitate towards cold brews, she recommended their cold brew with raspberry cold foam. WHAT?! That sounds so good! I can't wait to come back and try that drink. I also had a chocolate croissant, which are from Estelle's, my fave local bakery. I wish I'd seen the blueberry lemon scone first, but that just makes me look forward to my next visit. The decor of the shop is so comfy and cozy. They had some indoor seating available. I never thought that the sight of people working on their laptops in a coffee shop would be one that I missed so much. The staff were so kind and patiently answered my questions about the drinks I was contemplating. The customer service of the owner makes me never want to come here again. He ruined my entire visit with his snarky attitude. He would never talk to a white woman like that... You know when you walk in somewhere and you can feel the hostility I have never had a bad experience until today. I came in very friendly saying good morning and he did not wish to greet me. I asked to add butter to my breakfast sandwich called "The New Yorker." This sandwich was comprised of a bagel. I was told we don't make modifications to breakfast sandwiches even though I only asked for butter...on a bagel. If his delivery was better I wouldn't have taken it personally. The bagel ended up being SO hard I unfortunately couldn't eat it. I ended up not finish the bagel, just ate the inside lol. It was hurting my jaw to chew on the bagel, not exaggerating. I was pretty sad. I did let it sit for 3-5 min before eating it when I got it, so not sure if that had to do with why it was so hard. So heads up for those who order one, eat it right away! In honor of national coffee day this fantastic Yelp elite event was held at Goodside coffee in mid/ down town. I took a detour one morning on my way to work to go to Goodside. I must mention that Initially was stressed out about driving to midtown, parking, and pretty much everything else in the world, however, once I arrived I felt an overwhelming sense of calm. Goodside has these magnificent picture windows on the east side of the house that flood the entire place with the most amazing filtered morning sunlight. They have decorated with blues, greens, and neutral hues, and the place is sprinkled with just the right amount of plants. And on the west inside wall there is an enormous hand painted " Mansion Flats" mural also done in calm cool blues, greens, and neutral hues. I ordered a slightly dirty pumpkin chai latte, which was served in a sweet Yelp travel thermos. The service here was super expedient. As my hot coffee drink was ready to go in about 3 minutes after I placed my order. On a shelf to the left of the counter I noticed several light blue bags of Cat & Cloud coffee on display. I asked the barista if they had any dark roast and she suggested the Guatemala Bella Vista. I ended up getting a bag of at & Cloud Guatemala roast coffee and was delighted when they offered to custom grind it for me as well. In all this was a fantastic YEE at Goodside coffee as well as a fabulous way to honor national coffee day. Ambience is cute, but it is sweaty in there. The service from the cashier was good, but the primary male barista was rude and seemed annoyed if you asked something. He was also so insanely slow, so if you're on a time crunch do not come here. He makes one drink at a time and it's only him. I got the vanilla rose latte, as a reconnection and it was ... so bad. I had two sips and I could not finish it. Do not get this for your own sake. I even added sweetener and it's still unbearable to drink. It tastes like a plastic rose with a lots of sourness. I was looking forward to trying this coffee shop as we were waiting to watch a musical across the street at the UC Davis Health Pavilion, but they refused to accommodate my needs to use their public restroom. This is my first time at this coffee shop and my experience was terrible, and I am a 16 years old and on my period. I was planning to purchase a drink or pastry, but the service I was greeted with lead me in a different decision. They said I had to place an order before using their restroom. My gf LOVES their coffee but if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't go back. The staff is really friendly other than the older guy that always wears a hat. I've been in there 10+ times and every encounter with him is negative. He may be the owner but I wanted to send a fair warning that he will most likely ruin your experience with his negative attitude.
