My husband ordered a coffee-flavored beer and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was, and I enjoyed a perfectly made lemon drop. Such a great spot to relax and refuel. We'll definitely stop by again next time we're in Omaha!

They definitely have/had some pretty high prices compared to other eateries in the area. I'm not sure if that is caused by cost of goods or location or what, but I think that did come into play when a lot of economic hardship is happening all over. Like I mentioned above, I DID like their food, but it definitely had to be a special occasion type of thing, due to the high prices. When we did go, I LOVED the Maryland Crab Dip. It reminded me of my favorite crab dip in the world, at the SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta. We also had the Green Bean Almandine that was on special last time we went and that was pretty good, but you have to be a green bean fan, for sure. I decided to try the sushi as my main dish last time, and had the Everything Crunch Maki, which consisted of cooked salmon, jalapeño, and cream cheese. It was pretty good, and had a little hint of spice to it from the jalapeño, which cut the heavy cream aspect. My husband had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon for his entree, and gave me a few bites. It was cooked well and the mushroom risotto below it was very flavorful and filling. The cute nautical ambiance and excellent service were always appreciated, so no complaints there either. I think if they had been in a different area with less expensive rent and cost of goods, I may have visited more often.

There was already a wait by the time I got here at 5:30pm, and the line steadily grew with the dinner rush. The interior can't quite decide what it wants to be, with some decorations. At least there's a good amount of seating, including a large communal table inside that has plenty of seats. Staff were friendly. I got a Block Burger. Very standard looking burger with all the components to a typical burger, but the meat was great! Tasty, cooked medium, and had both a slight crisp with juicy interior. Would recommend for a casual bite, though there is a wait.

The au ju lacked flavor, and only lasted a few bites before not used at all. The baked potato was delish though! Prime rib was very tender, a lot of cap which was nice, but it was just sorta.. average. I snagged their Teriyaki Tenderloin Kabob on a bed of wild rice, salad bar, and asparagus side (probably the first restaurant I've seen that's offered asparagus as an actual side), requested well done. By all accounts it does look a bit charred, but when the veggies were pulled apart, they were warm and tender and paired well with the teriyaki and rice. That rice was delish! Asparagus didn't blow any air up my skirt unfortunately, because I really wanted it to blow my mind. I felt like we left a lot of food on our plates, but that could've just been how it was. We just felt... underwhelmed and wasn't picking up on all the hype.

After the devastating fire in 2015, I wasn't sure what to expect when they reopened. Thankfully, the restoration was incredibly faithful to the original while somehow making the space feel even better than before. It still has the warm, timeless atmosphere that makes it such a special place with fun staff. Whether you're a local or visiting Omaha for the first time, M's Pub is a restaurant I recommend without hesitation. It's a true Omaha institution that continues to deliver exceptional food and an experience that's stood the test of time.

The ONLY thing that was a downside is that on yelp it says the restaurant is pet friendly and that is not the case. We traveled with our puppy and we had to leave her back at my daughter's apartment downtown which was a big bummer. Other than that, not one single bad this to say.

You get several options to add to it. The grilled spicy Italian sausage sounded good. I'm not sure which was better. The sausage or the marinara sauce. Both were soooooo good!! The sausage was truly grilled and spicy and just amazing, and it was not greasy either. The marinara sauce challenged my own that I make at home. We devoured that plate of spaghetti which was big enough to share. I forgot to take a picture as it was served so I am sharing a tight shot of half the order after we divided it.

We arrived for our reservation and were seated at 6:40 where we weren't greeted by our waiter for quite awhile. It took a long time to get our drinks and I had to ask for bread so we decided to skip appetizers and go straight to our entree. When ordering the entree our waiter said "and which salad would you like?" And then listed the salad options. Normally when ordering a main and the waiter says which salad do you want that's because the salad comes with the meal. Nope. We were charged $11 per salad that we didn't even really want. The salads were your average side salad, but thankfully had good dressings. We hadn't brought up salads, the waiter did when we ordered our entree. So we were disappointed to have $20+ in salads that we didn't request until the waiter offered them. Our salads were finished for at least 15 minutes before our main entree came out at about 7:30, nearly an hour after we had been seated. My shrimp scampi was good, the broccolini was a touch under cooked but the flavors were still good, and the shrimp was surprisingly large in size and cooked exactly how it should be. Had we been served quicker and not offered things that didn't come with our meal when ordering our meal we may have been happier, hard to say. The table next to us was sat about 10 minute after us and had a different waitress. They received their entire meal (including bread & apps) and left before we were offered dessert. The food is good, I won't discredit that at all. But when coming to a restaurant like this you are expecting a level of service that we just didn't get. I'm sure we'll try again in the future and if service is better I will definitely update my review but for now, this was a let down of a birthday dinner.

One exception worth calling out is the lunch special: the Timber Hacked salad and soup combo for around $22 is a nice, more balanced option and probably my favorite way to eat here. Lots of people love this place and it's easy to see why. Just know your palate going in.

It tasted as if it was marinated low quality beef, chewy, difficult to cut, (yes, this filet was not easy to cut with a quality steak knife), odd texture. colleagues steak was basically raw (appeared bloody red)--he'd requested MR, sent it back to kitchen twice! Another colleagues steak was very Rare. Steaks were really disappointing as was the preparation. Our party of five was surprised when the steak was returned still undercooked. Considering the quality of my bone in filet steak and the undercooked steaks, I won't return to this location. There's a kitchen issue that needs to be resolved and the manager when that steak was recooked for second time should have observed it was still very rare when he delivered it because our table of five all did. Less than stellar experience due to the subpar beef tartare and steaks.

Along with the three course meal was a mini dessert so we all tried each and they all fell flat. We did get them to-go so maybe that had something to do with it but even a simple brownie wasn't anything great. Overall I want to chalk it up to wrong ordering and hope to come back and try other menu items and some suggestions!

The market price for half a crab is $70, so expectations are naturally high. The manager replaced it, which I appreciated, but HAHAHA they literally submerged it in boiling crab water just to make it look moist. I love quality. I love aesthetically pleasing food. I can easily pay over $500 for great food because I value the experience. This wasn't even about the price. It's about the standard. Thinking about it now just makes me laugh. Dry aged crab leg on the menu. HAHAHA

Our first visit to Gorat's was eons ago after the annual crush of Berkies in search of the ultimate Warren weekend. We were driven by curiosity. What did the Oracle know that we didn't? As could be expected, what's fun and familiar for one person doesn't necessarily trigger the same kind of response for another. Try as we might, we don't have the same shared history. I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and asked for extra gravy as Warren continues to recommend. It was standard, uninspired diner fare but whoa, what's this? Beef shimmering in a phosphorescent blue-green? Science aside, the aesthetics were not pleasing. While I knew the iridescence wasn't some freaking aberration that was going to sicken or kill me, it's not what you want as a predominant dining memory that lingers to this very day. Years passed and the restaurant changed hands. Out of curiosity, we made a second trip to find a beefed-up interior, an updated menu and many of the same old hands still slinging steaks and plates. Typically old-school steakhouses are not on our radar, but now we occasionally stop by Gorat's for a bite of this or that. Often we start with an edamame or fried green bean appetizer. Usually, there's a salad topped with an excellent balsamic vinaigrette. One day I'll try the chicken fried steak that was voted the city's "best" by a local panel of taste testers. A couple of quibbles, though. On three occasions, our chicken has been pink in the middle. Three times we've been told that it looks properly cooked in the kitchen, but the lights in the dining room give it a misperceived pink. Spring for a meat thermometer, Gorats. Show us 165°F and remove all doubt. And sour cream squeezed from a paper tube? Enough said! read more

OK IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS AND STILL HORRIBLE Tried eating at the bar this time...Very slow service.It took 40 minutes to get our food which was not warm.I noticed the cook spent most of his time BS ing in the bar with friends. Chicken pacacta( $14) states on the menu it comes with a creamy lemon sauce.It came out dry with no sauce and a pile of dried rice ECK......Had to ask for bread and butter.what we got was a few pieces of DRIED OUT slices which fell apart when trying to butter then to soften them,nasty. The chicken parmesan ($14)came out Burnt and not warm HHMmnn. A tiny bowl of tasteless pasta. Both meals had NO FLAVOR what so ever.Not worth the money.We cant beleive this place is still open HORRIBLE;;;; Slow service,cold food and they can not follow what ever you order,. .ex medium rare will come out well done to burnt well done will come out rare shrimp so under cook and hard. drinks 20 minutes per order $250 for a table of 6 GO ELSE WHERE. read more

I recently made a trip down to Gorat's since its reopening and was delighted with the changes. I stopped eating there because it felt like i was in a coffin and not old enough. The menu is refreshing and everthing is livened! I was with a party of four and had a little sampling of everything. Bruschetta was nice and made with fresh basil.Onion Rings were light and crisp and spinach dip was creamy. For dinner it was nice to see so many options and pricing was friendly. We had the chicken piccata and the rest had steaks. The Steak was cooked perfectly and tender and the whiskey glaze that was on it made it perfect. Better than the Drover. Everyone was pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful evening and walked away fulfilled and not feeling bloated. We will be back many more times read more

WOW....I don't get it. Warren Buffet must have the worst taste in food ever. Pan fried steak (I like grilled not gray from a pan) Iceberg was brown (who eats iceberg anyway) and vegetables from a can. We had a nice server but this odd man just kept coming back to our table over and over again asking how our meal was. I think to hit on my girl friend. Freak........ Never again Once was enough. I went here with my Dad after catching a Lancers game. They're open late and the staff is friendly. I had filet mignon and I thought it was fairly good. My Dad had the cat fish and didn't care for it; I'm not surprised because I've noticed the midwest just doesn't have good seafood. After waiting 1.5 hours for food, my "medium rare" steak was rare. The waitress and the manager were completely dismissive. They were busy (however patrons came and went while we waited for our food), and we would have been understanding if they had used any ounce of grace in their delivery. I ate at gorats this weekend and opened a yelp account to warn people. All anyone working was talking about was how busy and exited they are to wait on Warren Buffett and his rich friends. Yep, Ron Pullen has done it yet again. He's turned a nice restaurant in Omaha into a hot mess. He's made sure to get rid of longtime employees who are beloved by us, the guests and I have no doubt it will be a become as filthy dirty as Fuddruckers was. Ron, do Omaha restaurants and their patrons a favor and move back to Colorado. As long as Ron is running Gorat's, we won't be back, that is a guarantee. read more

We tried to get last-minute reservations (nobody even answering the phone at the Drover - boo) so we turned to a new choice flor us: Johnny's Cafe, a 100 year Omaha institution. Nice to be old; we were able to score an early--bird reservation. Where YOG ordered... ...Mac n' Cheese. (She said restaurant steaks aren't as good as PopPop makes at home, bless her heart). While waiting, we enjoyed nice fresh rolls (yay!) with a chives and cottage cheese ball (not my taste but it's a signature item). Daughter ordered the Petit Filet; it was a bit overcooked but she ate it (bless her heart). I ordered the Prime Rib. It was tasty - perfectly cooked but less tender than what I normally experience. It had no real seasoning crust, but it did have a lot of external silver skin/gristle that should have been trimmed off before cooking. But the meat was tasty, and the price/value was very good. We ended the meal on a high note, sharing Caramel Chocolate Decadence. It was outstanding, marred only by YOG's efforts to shield it from the rest of our forks. Service was exceptional: friendly but not familiar, attentive but not cloying, informative and professional. Kudos to management. So: overall not the best steakhouse I've ever eaten at, but far, far from the worst. (Oh, and YOG tasted all of our steaks. She said they were good but PopPop's are better. Bless her heart !)

I ordered a salad with bleu cheese dressing and strip steak with mashed potatoes, and then we split the shrimp cocktail appetizer and chocolate caramel decadence for dessert. Complimentary bread and cheese spread were amazing! The side salad was very small, very boring, and very watery, but the shrimp cocktail was exactly as expected. Then the steak I'm a little conflicted on... it was cooked and seasoned perfectly but had a lot more fat than I'm accustomed to - and not just on the edges. The dessert though... the only "conflict" there was that I felt like I needed to go to confession after eating it. Decadent indeed. Service was fantastic!

I was less than thrilled and did not eat it! I left eating 2 of the 4 scallops, and a scoop of potatoes- the server made multiple excuses, but never a tried to make it right. If you literally don't know how to cook a bone in filet, you probably shouldn't make it your " valentine special " . She repeated how difficult it is to cook... which made the experience worse.
