I'll start off by saying that the prices here can't be beat. It's the cheapest I've seen in the area. However, I made an appointment for 6:00pm and unfortunately waited around until just before 7pm until I was seen. The team there was very apologetic and I had a white powder manicure that turned out pretty well and lasted about 3 weeks. The salon itself is nothing special and pretty small, but if you're going at a low traffic time I'd guess it's not much of a problem. I don't understand why this place has such good reviews because this is hands down one of the worst places I've ever been to and I've been to some pretty bad places. First the place is super super dirty. Nails on the floor, nail filings in the air, peeling couches, dirty couch. Everything is so old. You don't even know if the tools they use have been sanitized because there is no sign of that anywhere. Second, this lady cut my nails way way way way too short. Even before she filed it, you can't even see the white anymore. After she filed it, the nails are short to a point that they HURT now. Third, as you can see from the picture, the way she painted the tip, there is a ridge visible on every single nail and when I pointed it out, they insisted that's because they paint the tip. Almost always they paint the tip and I've never had such ridiculous and visible ridges. Fourth, the lady made me sit dumbly in a chair for five minutes supposedly waiting for a seated space to open to do my nails. I said there is a portable light...why can't you use that?! And she finally went to get the portable light and started back on my nails again. If I continued to wait for a space, I would be there for another 20 minutes and I've already been there for 1.5 hour JUST for mani and pedi. And gel manis are FAST. No massage in the hand. I got a great gel manicure here about a week and a half ago and it still looks perfect. No chips, and it hasn't started peeling off at the base of my nail yet which always happens to me. There's some nail growth showing at the bed of my nail that I plan on covering with some top coat. I'm hoping this will keep the manicure lasting another week. Prices are a smidge cheaper than most salons. $25 for a regular gel manicure, whereas most salons in Cambridge are $30 to $35. My nail tech was thorough about cleaning my cuticles and took her time even though there were several people waiting. She also was gentle removing my previous gel so I didn't feel like there was a ton of nail damage. They end all the manicures with a hot wax peel which is not something I've seen at other salons. Not actually sure how big a difference it makes for your skin, but it did feel nice in the moment. I sent them a message on Yelp the day before to set up an appointment and they responded quickly and booked me for the time I requested. I did have to wait about 20 minutes past my appointment time so I think they overbook themselves slightly. Other patrons who came in after me and said that they had appointments too had to wait even longer. I wouldn't come here if you're in a rush, but if you don't mind a bit of a wait, they do a great job. They would definitely benefit from updating their color options. There weren't a ton to choose from (at least not for gels) and they couldn't find the color I picked so I went with something similar. So many good things to say about my first acrylics experience! Pre-visit, the salon was extremely responsive and very kind over the phone, unlike some other places I had called. To be honest, when we walked in, we were a bit skeptical--seemed very small, kind of run-down, and in the middle of nowhere. But it was so great! They had a huge selection of colors and lots of different options (regular and gel polish, regular and gel acrylics, dip powder, etc.). I had an appointment for me and my two friends, and they had originally said over the phone that we could all go at the same time, but we all ended up having to wait, which was a bit of a pain because we had a tight schedule. However, the workers there were so kind and hospitable, asking our opinions on things as they went! They even gave me a bottle of water when I thought I was going to die of dehydration LOL. I felt like I was being very cared for; when the lady put on the polish and it was a lot more transparent than I expected, she added enough layers to make sure I liked it and was not annoyed at all! Also, when the nails got kind of messed up while drying, she fixed it up immediately and perfectly! There were just a few cons, which is why I gave this place 4 out of 5 stars. First, they didn't really do anything with my cuticles, which was a shame because I was really hoping to get them cleaned up. I honestly think clean and polished cuticles are really important to have the "whole look," so that was a little disappointing. There was honestly still some polish and acrylics stuff around my nails that I had to go home and fix up. Also, my lady accidentally removed part of one of my cuticles while trying to polish my nails with an electronic buffer tool which was VERY painful... She seemed sincerely apologetic and I completely understand, but still worth noting! I haven't ever gotten acrylics before this, so I don't have much of a comparison point, but my best friend said that this was much better than her past experiences! This is a not so hidden gem given by the fact that it's pack and consistently has people coming in. I found this place and Le's on yelp and have been wanting to try both. Saw that Gorgeous had a slightly better review so went here for a dip nails and a pedicure. I risked my luck and stopped by around 4:15pm on Friday. I waited maybe 5 minutes and was seated to get my pedicure. Pedicure is $25 Dip nails with a full set is $45 Ivy who did my pedicure was amazing! I default to white for the summer and you can truly judge someone's skill when they work with white polish without having it streak and not be completely opaque. Natalie (the owner) did my dip nails and set (?). She works really fast (assuming so she can get onto the next girl) but I don't have an issue with that. She knows what she's doing so I just let her do her own thing. For the price, I was fine with the results. I think one nail was slightly shorter than the other ones. But then I got home and realized that one of my fingers (right ring) was really sore and slightly bleeding. When Natalie was quickly filing the edges of the nail, she really dug/cut deep into be side of my skin. Overall, yes I'll go back for the prices. Went to gorgeous nails because I saw a friend of mine nails and they looked really good. So I called made and appointment and on 6/2/18 got my nails done for my graduation on 6/3/18. I was not happy with them. I called the lady over and showed her the very noticeable bubbles on my nails. One had a big bubble in the middle and one also had a lint stuck in the polish. She got offended when I showed her, she put another top coat over the nails and i had to point out the bubble and the lint again. The polish stopped before the tip of my nails and the brush stroke was visible. I also got my feet done and the entire thing is filled with bubbles and the top coat was not applied on the entire nail. All the area around the cuticles didn't get a top coat. Was very disappointed. I was nervous about going here, because my nails had been extremely cracked and damaged from a previous manicure, and the edges of my finger had been sliced by a nail drill. Basically, my last experience at a different salon had been a disaster. However, my technician was extremely attentive and gentle, and despite having damaged nails and a few cuts on my finger (which usually means some inevitable stinging from alcohol wipes, etc) I was extremely comfortable. I wish I had brought more cash so I could have tipped more. I'm always wary of getting coffin nails done at a salon because I find they usually turn out too blocky for my taste, but my technician (I didn't catch her name unfortunately) made sure I got the elegant shape and length exactly the way I wanted. I would definitely recommend getting dipping powder here, they do a great job. Will definitely come back :) read more

STORYTIME: So unprofessional! I came here once as a walk in last year and it was a long wait and it took me being visibly upset for her to start doing my nails. It was an okay job but the acrylic was soft and wore down the shape within a week. This time around i called and asked for an appointment for a full set and pedicure , which she gave me. And as i walk in i see 4 women a ahead of me. But i think to myself maybe they're walk ins as well so no sweat. Turns out these were all women who had been picked appointments spanning up to 3 hours before my appointment. So i was already apprehensive. It took and hour after my appointment time before i was directed to a seat. The woman had me wait 5 mins as she was finishing up someone else's toes so i was standing in front of the chair for 5 minutes. She finally turned the water on and put my feet to soak, and THEN turns around and beckons another woman from the waiting area to start her manicure. I simply took my feet out of the water, but my boots and coat on, and walked out. (Best part is, she was so busy doing 3 people at once that she didn't even notice I walked out. Ridiculous. At least 6 women came after me claiming they had appointments and that's when i realize this salon does that to lure you in and then lies and tells you you're next until you realize you've been there for 2 hours and figure you'll just stay and continue... read more

I was new in the Cambridge area so wanted to find a good nail place to become my new go to place. I found Gorgeous Nail through Yelp and decided to give it a try. From the outside you can't barely see it! It is a little tiny door and looks a bit sketchy. It is very small inside as well and the AC is not really the best one - specially for the summer. They take walk-ins which is great! Nathalie is the person that welcomes everyone and makes sure everyone is happy with the service they are getting. She also is the one that organizes who is doing what. She seems to be very organized! The place is normally busy and even if you have an appointment you have to wait a little bit. If you have an appointment with Nathalie I feel she kinda manages to be on time ish. I have done my pedi and mani with different people and always left happy. They do a very good massage in your legs/feet and also have a sort of waxing for after your mani - that makes your hands soft! Very nice. Last time I went I tried dipping powder for the first time and I like the result a lot! Overall - if you are in a rush this is not a place for you! Went here for a self-care day with friends! My ideal price range, as a student, for a full-set acrylic is $35-$50. Gorgeous definitely beat out some Newbury places with both the price and quality. I got a full-set acrylic with gel polish and it totaled to $50 (they go from $45 and up). The technician I had was attentive to detail and really did a stand-up job, asking me if I liked what she was doing every step of the way A nice and unique touch to this salon is the warm paraffin wax dip for the hands after! Smells wonderful but I would wash my hands today, as it is communal. I would also note that there are times where there is a 30-40 minute wait depending on what you want done, how many clients are in there at a time, and what time it is (we were there 12:30 to 1:30, sort of busy in waves). There were two acrylic technicians when I was there, but they were able to keep the waiting queue down well. Personnel: tech was friendly Place: outdated furniture where the massage chair was noisy and had to turn it off, and very hot/humid. May need a new AC unit Job: I went in for a mani/pedi and ended up with a pedi only. The pedi was very sloppy and felt she rushed through the job in comparison to other clients. I had to ask her to clean around the nail as it had dried polish on the skin of my toes. This may be due to the nail polish being old. Very disappointing as my nails were not "Gorgeous" looking after I left. Price: reasonable but recommend the owner to increase inventory for colors used often specially seasonal ones. Walked in with a group of 4 at 5:30 and was told to return at 7. We arrived 10 minutes early and still waited over an hour and a half to be serviced. We all were very clear that we wanted a mani/pedi, yet one of the ladies began painting my friends nails without doing her pedicure. My toes didn't have enough coats and I asked for one more and, not only did she not do it, she also became exasperated and threw the nail tool on the floor. After asking for a specific style and being told it was fine, the lady then claimed to not be able to do it (even though they did it for another customer) and she refused to finish my hands. Someone else had to do my hands for me. At the end of it all, we nicely asked if my friend could only be charged for a polish change, since she didn't do a full pedicure, and she instantly began yelling and said we had to pay for the pedicure and no exceptions. We proceeded to ask if they can do the pedicure, and they insisted that we pay. I said we'll pay when the service is complete and she yelled out to another employee to "lock the door because they're being scary." The rest of the staff laughed at the back of the shop while the entire situation unfolded. We were HORRIBLY SERVICED, RACIALLY PROFILED, and OVERCHARGED. I brought in a picture of what I wanted as a design, and even though Natalie had never done anything like it before, she was willing to give it a try. I went to Gorgeous Nails today for a fill and a pedicure and I am SO HAPPY with the results. I had acrylics put on two weeks ago at a different salon and really wasn't happy. A few were already lifting off, they were thick and uneven, and I hated the shape. The woman who helped me today spent a lot of time on my nails to get them to look good and I am beyond thrilled. Even though the salon was crowded, she took her time with me and really made sure I was happy with the outcome. The pedicure was also amazing. I haven't had one in several months, and my feet were in rough shape. The technician spent a lot of time getting rid of dead skin and also treating some ingrown toenails (sorry to be graphic but this happens when you're a runner!) My experience started off TERRIBLY! The lady I had picked at my skin around my nails for about 20 minutes to a point that it was irritating my skin. I picked a deep red and as she was painting the gel on my nails it was a very bright Christmas red that did not match what I saw on the models they had. She was getting the paint all around the edges of my fingers on the skin, which is not good with gel polish. I ended up saying I hated the color and how it was all over my skin and the main lady, Natalie took over right away. She picked a color I described I wanted and took over perfectly. Popped in for a dip powder mani and the staff was so nice and accommodated me immediately. The atmosphere was friendly and their pricing is great (so many of the overcrowded large salons I've been to charge insane amounts for dip powder)! My usual nail salon didn't have any appointments on the Saturday I wanted to go in and they are closed on Sundays, so I looked on Yelp for a local nail place to fix one of my broken gels and get a fill. Gorgeous Nails had great reviews and were right up the block from me so I figured I'd give them a shot. I sent a message through Yelp and got a reply pretty quickly, they were able to take me within an hour of the time I requested for the next day. The place doesn't look like anything special from the outside, if I hadn't read the reviews I would've walked right by the place and not even consider giving it a shot. Don't judge a book by its cover, folks. They were running a little bit behind but I had gotten my appointment on relatively short notice so I planned for that. When I was my turn I briefly explained what I wanted and she got to work... that has got to be the fastest gel fill I've ever gotten in my life, I was in and out of the chair in under an hour. In fact, the girl who did my nails was working so quickly I expected something to be done wrong, like the nails might be misshapen or uneven lengths, or maybe she would cut my cuticle or something... all things that happen when you rush the process. But no. She was so efficient and so skilled, she just knew what she was doing. My usual nail salon has liquid UV gel that they put directly on your nail then bake with the light, the only difference with this place is that she used acrylic to fill the nail, then a gel polish over it. I'm not sure if that's just how they do gels here or if I was misunderstood when I made the appointment, but I'm not upset about it. Usually my gel fills last 2 weeks before needing to be redone, plus or minus a few days. I work with animals so they tend to get beat up. These nails are perfectly shaped the way I asked them to be, I love the color and I love the efficiency. Since they used acrylic instead of full UV gel it was cheaper than I'm used to, and they take Venmo for payment which is amazing. Dumb me, I didn't even ask for the girl's name before leaving, next time I go in I'll definitely make sure to ask so she can get the kudos she deserves. So far I am very happy with my experience here. I will update my review in approximately 2 weeks, when I see how the acrylic/gel combo holds up against my usual gel sets. read more

The only good thing about this place is that I got a last minute appt. even though I had an appt, I had to wait 20 mins for my manicure. The manicurist finished my manicure in 15 mins flat. She was rough and very sloppy. She used a top coat as base coat and when I questioned it she brushed me off. She also smudged one of my nails with her fingers and just put a second coat of polish on instead of fixing it. The location is very dirty and has wet towels laying everywhere also.
