Our first time at Gorilla Korean Grill. We walked in with reservation on my birthday and were greeted and seated right away. They have an extensive menu options with 3 different packages, Monkey- $26.95, Gorila for $33.95 and King Kong for $39.95. So here's the good part, if it's your birthday, you get a free meal with photo ID however they require you to have a minimum of 4 ppl and everyone need to purchase the same package price. We started off by ordering soft tofu soup and the pork backbone hangover soup, steamed eggs, edamame, corn cheese, soft shell crabs and shrimp tempura. For meat we ordered, pork kalbi ribs, ribeye beef, beef tongue and beef briskets and a side of rice. Yumm!! Brianne was our server and she's efficient and patient with us. It was out first time here because we were craving for Korean bbq. It was a Thursday New Year's Day. We walked in and got seated right away. Upon entering the restaurant it feels as if everyone stops and greets you in Japanese language. Aka they make you feel welcome. Their ceiling were full with stringing lights which looks pretty cool. They had 3 different menus prices we decided to choose the gorilla menu. The service was so fast. We were still ordering and the appetizers and banchan came out. We tried the deep fried pork chops and it was alright. The garlic edamame was too garlicky for my kids. The pork rib soup was good. The soft shell crab 10/10. We ordered the rib eye strap, beef belly and beef brisket it's the normal meats we order at a kbbq place. I was bummed that they didn't have cucumber kimchee. The service was awesome the severs consistently checked up on you. The restrooms were well kept they did have a baby changing diaper in the ladies room. This was SO GOOD! We normally go to Chubby Cattle but they opened later and we're so glad we found this place! We got the King Kong menu for $40 which is already cheaper than chubby cattle. I had a great experience at Gorilla KBBQ. One thing I really appreciated was how frequently they changed the grill--it makes such a difference, and they were on top of it. The meat quality was solid across the board, and the brisket was cut slightly thicker than at other places, which I loved. We chose the middle menu, which had all the items we needed. The standout for me was the pork kalbi. It was incredibly tender and much easier to eat than LA kalbi, without sacrificing flavor. The overall vibe is casual with a fun, with K-pop demon hunter videos playing, but it was not overwhelming. Service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and fast. It wasn't busy when I stopped in for a late Sunday lunch, which was nice, but honestly, with how good the food and service are, I'm surprised. Not sure if we came at a bad time or what but our service time along with the quality and flavor of the food was absolutely horrible. 3 of us came to eat here and they gave us 3 small portions to start (kimchi, cucumber dish and a noodle plate) we started ordering meats and we asked multiple times throughout our meal for bigger brisket plates (they actually had like 10 small pieces of brisket that were hard as rock on every plate when we ordered) the sauces they provided were unflavorful and it seemed like the portions were a spoonful anytime we asked for more. AYCE Korean BBQ with sushi east of the strip. Seems to be popular with students. There are lots of tables but you can make a reservation via the Yelp app. There are three tiers to choose from. The Monkey tier was perfectly fine, offering several meat options and lots of appetizers and sides as well. You can order different dipping sauces as well. The best are the bulgogi and marinated pork kalbi. Chipotle chicken was pretty good too. The sushi was meh. Great side dishes are steamed egg, scallion salad, corn cheese, and spicy ramen (seems to be Shin, so it's spicy). Melona ice cream pop was pretty good too! read more

We came during their grand opening and gave them some grace as the line wrapped around the building! Firstly, I'd like to note how large the space was and how their grills have a vent built into them for the smoke! We were seating along the side of the building next to these 2 overhead AC units that were doing their jobs really well! I'd recommend for anyone else who gets cold easily like me to bring an extra layer in case you're seated on the restaurant's perimeter. Secondly, the food was pretty good! I'd highly recommend the beef belly and the pork belly. The beef brisket and pork butt was rather lean and thickly cut, making it more chewy. If the slices were thinner, I'd be more inclined to re-order. Our first order of pork belly was sliced beautifully, whereas the second order was really wonky, almost as if a child sliced it. Regardless, it was tasty! The reason for my lowered rating is because of the inconsistent portion sizes on top of the thick cuts. As depicted by my beef belly plates and sesame dipping sauce dishes, they are different sizes with the smaller being our first order! If we had known that a second order would be vastly larger, we would have ordered less to not waste food! These photos were taken with us already cooking most of the meat on the plate too. Lastly, our appetizers came out at the very end so we were pretty full from our extra meat at this point. The kimchi cheese fried rice is torched in front of you which is cool, but the cheese to rice ratio is heavy on the cheese. I think having kimchi as a side would have been nice to cut the fattiness of the meal though! Corn cheese and steamed egg were delicious! The soups were ok for me, but the rest of my party liked them. Overall, food was good and service was scattered (as expected on grand opening day!) but the staff were friendly regardless. The meal was good for their BOGO grand opening deal. Since this was our first KBBQ in Nevada since moving, we will have to see how it compares! read more

Initially we were disappointed with low quality service with less than 1/3 of the entire place full on a Monday night. They forgot to turn on the grill so we had a cold grill and meats sitting. Came here for the grand opening day, with their BOGO AYCE KBBQ and sushi! We got on the waitlist in person, we were quoted about 1.5hrs. We got the text confirmation and were told we would get a text when our table is ready. When we checked on the Yelp app, it said what number we were on the waitlist and what time we needed to return by. We came back before our return-by time and we were seated just before the quoted seated time in the Yelp app. Staff were friendly and greeted us when we walked in. Lots of tables and several tvs on both sides of the restaurant.We weren't given a menu at the table when we were seated, but the server asked which menu we were doing and what we wanted to order. We had to ask for a menu. Some minutes later she came back with the menu. Server said there was no limit on how many items we could order at once. Sides, sauces, and appetizers were all brought out within 15min - all came out individually, being brought to the table by a different staff each time. Our meats came one by one. Server said the King Kong kalbi was their signature meat but when we had it, it didn't taste any different than the other kalbi meat on the menu. Our favorite was the aging pork belly, really tender and lots of flavor. I tried the onion salad but the onion flavor was really strong, even when mixed with the seasoning/sauce. Salmon carpaccio came with 3 pieces and it had too much crunch, so I removed most of it before eating the other 2 pieces. Shrimp tempura had just the right amount of crunch, but the batter was not as light as I was expecting it to be. One gentleman noticed our grill needed to be changed so he switched it, even with meat still cooking on it. The second time our grill needed to be changed, the server grabbed the new grill with her hands while lifting the one that still had food, with her other hand. Out of our entire experience here, this was what caught me off guard as we cook the meat on the grill that she just handled with bare hands. At the one hour mark, she said it was our last call (they allow up to 1.5hr time) and took our dessert orders. We were still eating our food and she brought out our ice creams already. So by the time we finished eating and was ready to have our dessert, the ice cream had already softened, almost melted. We left some meat but wasn't charged for it, but I'm not sure if it's just because it was grand opening day. I would come back to give this place another try! read more

We were able to have a late lunch as a group of 6 kids and 4 adults. We were split between 2 booths. We chose the second tier for AYCE. Meat was of ok quality. I did like how the beef tongue was cut really thin. Galbi tang was among the available soups but not all short ribs are fall off the bone. My piece was tough and not ready while my cousins was fall off the bone. I did not like any of the raw fish dishes like the sushi rolls/poke. I didn't think the fish quality was good and didn't feel freshness with the raw pieces. The service was prompt and people were attentive. They had a squid game theme going on. They gave each of our kids the squid game cookie game to win a free meal. They even gave some of them extra when they failed with the first cookie. We didn't find out until the bill that each cookie/attempt was $5! ---- they told us at the register that they told the other table (which was the kid table about the price). The kids had fun but I thought they took advantage of our family especially because the adults thought it was freee and they were giving the kids more attempts.... left a sour taste in our mouth. They didn't even offer to comp any of the extra ones they kept giving the kids. Just tried this k bbq with my friend and if was super good. I was not expecting it to be all goi can eat but it was awesome. You can choose between three different levels with price changes and different options to order from. We just chose the basic option and everything was pretty yummy. The server was super sweet and brought our stuff out super quick after we ordered it. We started with the chipotle chicken, brisket, marinated pork, pork belly, and bbq ribs. The ribs were good, not the best ribs ever but still good. The best thing out of those were the marinated pork and brisket for sure. We ordered second rounds of those. There are several topics and sides you can order and that come out automatically. The vibe in the restaurant was really fun too. They had good music going and the customers would all get super hype whenever they would sing for someone's birthday. Overall would come back. I asked for 2 High Ball drinks with NO alcohol in them. When you go to literally ANY other restaurant, they don't charge you for the alcohol that you literally asked for your drink not have in it. But not here, they WILL charge you for the stuff you didn't even get. And then when they tell you that you HAVE to pay full price for the virgin drinks when you get the bill. F O O D - Gorilla (Option B) P R O S - Of what I tried from option B they were all really good, and none really disappointed me. Stand outs were: Marinated king pork galbi, Brisket, Beef Belly, Fried shrimp tempura, soft shell crab, poke salad, and lobster roll. - Marinated king pork galbi: The meat is super tender from the way they cut it. I only wish this came in a non-marinated version, as I tend to prefer the non marinated meats since I dip everything in a sauce later anyways. - Beef Brisket & Belly: Safe and good option, you can never go wrong. - Soft shell crab: I loved the sauce that came with the soft shell crab. To be honest I would just order the sauce alone and dip most of my meats in that sauce because it was tangy, sweet, and spicy all together. MUST GET! - I really enjoyed the poke salad, although it was more like some poke tossed in with the regular seaweed salad. Nevertheless, still good. - Orange spicy sauce: WOW This sauce is good! Not sure what they put in it, it tastes like a spicy mayo, with an extra kick to it. I dipped all my meats in it and it was delicious. My table ordered so much, this is a MUST GET! N E U T R A L S - Kimchi: Okay kimchi, not the best I've had. - Spicy beef soup: I could of used a bit more spice as it didn't taste spicy for my tastes, but I did like how soft and tender the beef is. There are no noodles in this soup so if you want some you'll have to ask. C O N S - Not that these items tasted bad or anything, they were still good, but just not my favorites. - Ribeye steak: This one is cut very thinly, where as I usually prefer a more thicker style of ribeye steak. I thought the meat wasn't as flavorful or moist being cut so thin since it cooked super fast. - House salad: I wish they didn't use a white creamy sauce and would of preferred a more simple citrus and oil salad. - Rainbow roll: Skip, not terrible but just save your stomach for other items. - No rice paper served here. For some reason I think rice paper is a LA Kbbq thing only, as I never see it when I go out of California. S E R V I C E - Our server was really nice and attentive, put in our orders quickly and everything came out fast. One thing to note though is that she never cooked for us, whereas I am used to LA waiters who will do all of the cooking for you at kbbq. We also got a grill change a few times without having to flag a waiter down. A M B I A N C E - Despite what the exterior plaza may look like, the inside of Gorilla is actually really SPACIOUS, modern, and clean.
