There's no reason not to come here honestly. I'm not going to sit here and convince you that this place is classy or trendy; so the name is odd and you have to walk through a fast food section first in order to get into the dining room. These tapioca shakes that they have absolutely rocked. They were sealed but had ICE in them! How did they serve a sealed drink with ice in it? Do the seal these drinks themselves? Do fairies magically insert the ice into these drinks? We may never find out. And honestly, these servings of pho are in no way anything any normal human being can consider a typical serving size. Honestly, last weekend I ate a 3 pound burger and I couldn't dream of finishing this entire bowl. It was huge and delicious. So I recently moved to Utah and had a hankering for boba. Some of my local friends recommended this place and I will most likely be coming back whenever I do get those cravings. Is it anything like boba in California? NO. Is it as cheap? NO. but Utah isn't exactly a mecca for Asian cuisine. The boba pearls themselves were delicious. I'm actually very surprised at the higher ratings for this place. Perhaps these reviews are for the food, which I have not tried, but given that this place is called Gossip Tapioca, I'm reviewing their boba drinks. I've frequented this place more often than I have wanted to, mostly when friends have wanted to go. I really wanted to give this place a better review, waiting until the 5th (yes, 5th trip, all with different orders) to finally write a fair review. The drinks themselves are not bad, a bit sugary, but that can be adjusted - when they adjust correctly (more on that later) . I will definitely say that the service have vastly improved. Gone are the unapproachable workers that constantly appear impatient and/or annoyed, that whisper to eachother when incorrect drinks are politely asked to be remade. They have been replaced with a younger, more efficient, and friendlier crew. This has been a point of contention for Gossip's service in the past and it's a blessing that they have noticed and made changes. Now, back to the boba. I come from California and have had the opportunity to try many a boba places there. Boba itself should be slightly soft with a chewy center. Gossip has never gotten this right. They are consistent, but in the most unfortunate way. Their boba is consistently overcooked to the point of no texture. It literally will chew itself if you press it against the roof of your mouth with your tongue. It's rather tasteless and not an enjoyable experience. As aforementioned, the drinks themselves are a bit sugary, which can be adjusted. Adjustments vary by who's making it though, as they have no real scale (25% 50% etc) that they seem to follow. Luckily we were served by a nice gal named Brittanie, who quickly got the sugar level right, and served it with a kind smile. Unfortunately, on my other visits, the tea was made incorrectly. The tea itself does not have the richness associated with a proper tea house, and most taste like tea bases you can grab off the grocery store shelves. Pair that with terrible boba, and you aren't left with much. Overall, great service by Brittanie, with nice atmosphere. Boba is subpar at best and drinks are mediocre. Now, I know that this is a bit unfair as its being compared to California boba, but a couple of new boba upstarts have been popping up in the Salt Lake vallley and that are getting it right. It's 2016 and boba is everywhere now. Time to get it right Gossip! read more

We've been here 3 times in 8 days. I think we like it. The soups are delicious and the toppings top notch. This is including all of their meat (they have chili oil that has flavor and it is spicy too!). All of their noodles have the texture I would expect from them, and the appetizers are all worth getting. We've had 6 different boba with tapioca, pudding, and jellies which were all good (white chocolate coconut banana has been the best thus far); however, there are some hard tapioca here and there but they are not a big detractor for me. Even though it's a bit far out of the way, we come up with excuses to drive 30 mins to be around the area now. I would recommend it! read more

Gave this place 3 chances and waited way over 30 minutes for one drink every single time. It also happens to be the most simplest drink too. After all these years, I haven't tried the food yet. I really like the boba though. I always get the white chocolate banana coconut and it never disappoints. Sometimes I get Thai tea boba and it's yummy too. The drinks menu has a nice variety that isn't overwhelming but offers something for everyone Incase someone doesn't want boba. read more

It's good but the broth is very oily. One time they were out of tapioca for the drinks so I was a tad disappointed with the mango smoothie I ordered. The tapioca is the best part! Seriously, the first rule of a tapioca joint, don't ever run out of tapioca!! So that's why I am giving it three stars. Other than that, I like coming here with friends because the interior is nicer than other pho places in slc. It's fun for the 20-something crowd and the green tea latte rocks! Finding a good place for Boba in Salt Lake City is a very difficult proposition. So if you're willing to venture out a tad, Gossip is a great place to get it. The tapioca is always fresh, the teas are never too sweet, and the staff is very friendly. It also doesn't hurt that the staff is comprised mostly of beautiful girls. They've even opened a full restaurant recently that has pretty decent food. The drinks are still where it's at though. My personal favorites are the Green Milk Tea and Peach Tropical, but they have a ridiculous amount of variety so feel free to be adventurous. I've never had a bad drink from there in the 3+ years of patronage. read more

Started w spring rolls which are just unbelievably good. We actually went back just for those later. They come two per order and are giant. Two people don't need two orders. But they are good the next day. For dinner we both had beef pho which is literally the best pho I've ever eaten. I added sriracha but the soup was already fairly spicy by itself. Their food is pretty good, not the best, but if you are looking to get a boba drink this is the place to go, if you come here on a weekend you are sure to have a long wait for your drink, I've waited as long as 20 minutes for mine. The Pho is good for pho, I am not really sure what makes it different from any of the other Pho spots but my girlfriend swears by it and says its better and I tend to trust her judgment because she is way more Asian than I am. I just had the Pho since I wanted to compare it to Pho Green Papaya, which I really liked. I very much enjoyed the spring rolls; I liked that they weren't deep fried, and I also liked the peanut sauce. The pho, however, just didn't measure up. It seemed kind of oily from the start and just seemed to lack 'something'. The noodle were kind of clumped together, which I didn't like (difficult to chop-stick).
