There is only 1 thing that I love and consistently order from Gossip drinks menu, that is the red bean special. The drink reminds me of the typical Vietnamese dessert back home with red beans, coconut milk, and grass jelly. It's packed with natural flavors and has real red beans in it, which is better than other syrupy drinks in the menu. Sometimes I replace bubbles with grass jelly to reminisce some flavors from home, but I think bubbles go great with it, too. This drink by itself earns the best bubble tea in town for me personally. read more

I want to start by saying I've never eaten anything other than the pho at this restaurant, but that alone is phenomenal! I've taken some of my family here as well as gone with a friend several times, every time the food is ready quickly, tastes great, and is pretty cheap for how much you get. I don't actually know if it's shown on their menu, but if their default size isn't enough you can upgrade to a white bowl of pho and it's extremely large and only slightly more money. They also make great boba drinks/smoothies, my favorite being the white chocolate, banana, and coconut flavor (goes weirdly well with beef & brisket pho). If that's all you're looking for and you aren't wanting to actually sit down and eat, they have a separate section of the restaurant just for that, where you can wait for your drink and take it to go. I remember when I first tried a boba drink it was from Gossip and ever since then I come here regularly for food or for a quick boba fix. Food: 4/5 I really enjoy their rice dishes and vermicelli bowls. All time favorites has to be the teriyaki chicken and vermicelli bowl with Vietnamese egg roll and charbroiled meat. Their seasoning is always on point and meat is always cooked well. I've also tried their pho and I didn't enjoy it, the broth isn't the best and lacks flavor. Service: 5/5 to this day I've never had a bad experience with the service I've received. The staff is always polite and friendly. No complaints. Had a bit of a hard start. Was wanting espresso with NO SUGAR. They kept passing me to another person. This is my first time here but I did do my homework and read the reviews. I thought I did get an espresso with no sugar or any toppings but there is sugar. I'm allergic , severely , to straight sugar. Oh well my friend got a free drink. You all could teach me a thing or two. I read all the YELP postings but I guess those change frequently. I'll attach a photo of what I ended up with. Today the shrimp vermicelli bowl was not as magical. The shrimp wasn't as fresh and charred. You can tell it's a different chef than the last time we were in. I got the shrimp chow fun bowl. Since it very first opened, I've been to Gossip more times than I can count. In the beginning, they only had boba, which is what I would come for. What originally made me a fan was that while the other big boba chain that was (is?) in SLC at the time only used syrups, Gossip uses real fruits. I've tried too many of the boba flavors to count, but my go to is the blended coconut with the mini tapioca (I prefer the mini tapioca to the normal size). After a while, they remodeled and expanded their space, and started serving food. I've tried pretty much everything on their menu. Their menu includes the usual suspects at a Vietnamese restaurant: pho, vermicelli noodle bowls, rice plates. They also have some Chinese food options as well, like flat noodles and sweet and sour chicken; I wouldn't come here for the Chinese food, but the pho, vermicelli noodle bowls, and rice plates shine. The food is always consistent and tasty at a good price. It kind of has a whole-in-the-wall feel to it, which is good in my opinion, since all of the best Asian food is found in such places. The staff is generally friendly. One thing to note is that when it gets busy it takes a long time for your food to come out, so I wouldn't recommend this for a quick bite; this makes sense since its a small business with a little kitchen. I've not tried boba in the surrounding states, but I would venture a guess it may be the best boba within a few states. It really is that good. Once I got a boba to go and everywhere I went I got asked from complete strangers where I got it and how good it was. Once a complete stranger asked if she could try it. LOL! If you're new to the boba phenomenon, do yourself a favor and get the Mango Delight, blended. It's like a smoothie with mango, boba, tapioca and all sorts of delicious treats at the bottom. As you get more versed in the boba world, you'll find the other menu items fun to try. I keep going back to this and the PMS. Blended, of course. Iced is also good, but not as divinely inspired as blended IMO. I would travel hours out of the way to have a boba from Gossip. It's worth it. read more

Gossip Tapioca is, hands down, the best pho place in the greater Salt Lake area. Their bone broth is one of the most flavourful things I've eaten in my entire life. I frequently come here to get pho when I'm not feeling well and I joke that they have the elixir of life in there because I seriously feel so much better after eating it. I used to come every Wednesday and Friday to study and have a good meal in the afternoon. The pho bac is tried and true and it comes with noodles, beef, greens, onions, and a small amount of cilantro. I've tried the seafood pho and it is delicious as well. I tried this place for the first time today and it's honestly so good! I was nervous because Utah hasn't impressed me much with Vietnamese food, but I was wrong. It was pretty busy here and for a good reason. I love their bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup). Nowhere else I've been to makes it as good as here. Portions are extremely generous. Their smoothies are delicious and the boba was the perfect consistency. Price was right and service was great. I love going to Vietnamese restaurants where the servers understand the food and what sauces/veggies you're asking for. They took our orders at a good time and brought them out pretty quickly. I was a big fan of their pacing in general. I wouldn't say the service was overly friendly, but I don't think I've said that of any Asian restaurant I've visited, so it's pretty typical. The flavor of the broth was so yummy. The chicken was cooked just right. The portion was incredibly generous. I couldn't believe the size of my bowl! Since several of us got pho, they brought out a communal tray of sprouts, basil, etc. for us to share. All of the rest of the food that everyone ordered looked so fresh and yummy. One of the tastier Pho joints in the area. The twist is that this one is way cleaner (though I do miss the grungy hole in the wall types like the next door Pho Cali). This place also has a good boba setup. The restaurant is divided half in half, one half is the boba/drink side and the other side is the pho/food side. The food here is good and their is a good variety of options on the menu. Service here is typically quick. Prices are fair. Next time you have that hangover, definitely get a bowl of pho. That's a protip for the folks that aren't familiar with Pho, it really is one of the best hangover remedies out there. read more

Disclaimer : I have never eaten any food here, just had beverages on several occasions. I really like the boba here, but that's probably because this is one of only two places I have ever had it. I was introduced to the lovely concoction that is boba by a friend and have since tried Lollicup and didn't really care for it a whole lot because they didn't use real fruit and it was thinner and melted before I even made it back to work. My one big complaint is that all of the berry flavored drinks taste a lot like medicine to me. Think a really strong children's tylenol or something. Not a pleasant taste at allll. The white chocolate, banana, coconut is a fav. I wish they would update the menu on the wall behind the counter. Advertising various colors/rainbows of tapioca and then only offering the black (which incidentally, isn't even a choice on the wall) is very misleading/disappointing. read more

I went here on a whim. I was in the neighborhood and hasn't eaten lunch yet so I decided to give this place a go. First thing, this place has a very fun atmosphere. I would definitely come here to have some bubble tea and "gossip" with some friends. However I was flying solo and just wanted some Bun Bo Hue. Pho in my opinion is a very forgiving soup. If the broth is not as great as some other places, some hoisin, sriracha, and lime will mask it pretty good. Bun Bo Hue however does not have those ingredients to play with. It has to come to your table pretty perfect as is. And the one I have here was way too bland. The reason why I love Bun Bo Hue is the spiciness and the flavors of lemon grass and shrimp paste. It feels unfair to lump this all together--this is really the tale of two businesses. On the one side, the one by the entrance, you have the juice bar/boba bar operation. You walk in, there are large boards with bajillions of boba options to soothe your sweet tooth and chase after your chewing muscles with sweet pearls of boba balls. It's fast, it's not too terribly expensive, and the stuff is pretty good. Definitely on the better side of the boba continuum in Utah. On the other side of things is the actual restaurant. The sit-down, order Vietnamese food side. And I wish I'd tried that side, because after seeing some of the photos, my interest has been piqued. For now, I can surely say that it's worth a stop in to try the tapioca boba fruit and whatever else drink combinations. There's some high cabaret table seating and you can stay a while to chew the fat and the tapioca with a date or a pal. As I was eating my snack at Gossip Tapioca, and staring at the window ledge covered in dead fruit flies stuck to dust and kitchen grease next to me--- I said to myself, "If the dining area on the restaurant side is this dirty... I wonder how dirty the kitchen is..." Just sayin'. A little dirt never scared me away from some good grub. Especially, some awesome hard-to-find Vietnamese street snacks like chewy Bot Chien rice cakes--- covered in green onion and fried with scrambled eggs, then covered in a sticky sweet soy sauce. This place is divided into two main rooms. When you enter on the right side, there is a nice bubble tea shop that is more like a coffee cafe atmosphere. If you want to order food, then you are encouraged to be seated in the restaurant attached to the left side. You can still order all the bubble teas your heart desires as well as some great Vietnamese favorites like Pho, Banh Mi, com, bun, and so on. Their wontons are homemade, and they also have a good lookin' chow fun, if you are wanting Chinese inspired dishes instead. I would like to call out that they have a darn good portion of Kids Pho for only $4.00! Which is definitely enough food for any adult. The regular size pho is a xe lua portion. Service is a interesting. We had to ask for spoons, chopsticks, napkins at various times during our meal. There was plenty of staff, they were distracted, yet definitely not busy. Anyway, in a neighborho of Vietnamese places in strip malls, we ended up at Gossip and it was wonderful. The jasmine tea was amazing, the staff attentive and friendly, the one table of 20-somethings next to us pretty obnoxious, giggly, and hipster... but in these economic times, you can't exactly kick out your ridiculous customers. The food was spectacular. I had a vermicelli bowl with park and egg roll, and my skeptical grandfather has a rice bowl with charbroiled pork and vegetables. Now, I do not believe that any particular cities have a monopoly on declicious food from different ethnic roots (not a California snob about that) but i do tend to be a California produce snob... but Gossip's vegetables were DELICIOUS. Everything was fresh - especially important when there are raw herbs and veggies as part of the dish. Perfectly seasoned - can't say enough good things about it. I think they have the best bubble tea in Utah although I only get the honeydew flavor while my girlfriend tries different flavors every time. Da bomb is really good! Their food is pretty mediocre. We got the pho and the fresh spring roll and I wasn't blown away by either. The pho tastes good but missing that deep broth taste compared to some other pho joints in the area and there is no special characteristics that distinguish their spring rolls. Ok, here I am being generous with the stars again. A couple of days ago my sister had an unusually long layover in SLC on her way to NY (gotta love the Jet Blue red-eye). She was meeting up with my other sister who lives in Highland for a sister's trip to see my nephew's Broadway debut in Wicked. The three of us got together for a late dinner. We didn't want to eat at a chain restaurant; and we were definitely not in the mood for fast food. We thought of Pho (we grew up in Southern California and part of the family still lives in Irvine, so I think that makes us honorary Asians). The problem: It was after 9pm, so all of my favorite pho shops were closed. As we drove from shop to shop in the pho epicenter that is 3500 S, we were happy to find that Gossip was still open. We ordered. Our food, very reasonably priced, arrived quickly and was pretty good. My picky tongue would have given the meal three stars. We also tried their smoothies with tapioca. They were a near exact match to those from our favorite place in the OC. Combine that with the fact that they were open after 9 and Gossip gets a bump to 4 stars! You see, it's unfair to say it's bad after one experience. In fact, I've been to Gossip many times and been blown away. Today, that didn't really happen but I think they made an effort to recover quickly. Whereas I'd normally order the Pho (look around, that's everybody), I ordered the Vermicelli Noodles with Beef and Scallions. The meat wasn't good at all. The foul stench could either be from sitting in a stew too long, lack of flavoring, or bad meat altogether which is a shame because that's exactly what I looked forward to. After the second bite, I couldn't eat the rest. Instead, I tried to finish the noodles, scallions, and plenty vegetables which yes, were fresh and even tastier with their Saison sauce. The spring rolls were delicious too paired with the peanut sauce. Do not be at all mistaken, Gossip Bistro is great; today quite possibly was an off day. It was lunch time, it was busy. On to the boba, I always get the Green Tea smoothie. Smooth with a caffeinated finish. They do Macha well, so that's what I stick to. In sum, yes I will come back. The boba here is really a hit and miss, depending who the boba-rista is. Sometimes the drink is perfectly sweet, other times it's too bland. Their tapioca and mango pudding is pretty consistent though. The prices have also increased (almost $5 for a large drink). Haven't tried many of their dishes, but I like the egg noodles with the soup on the side. The service can be slow so don't plan on having lunch there if you're on a tight schedule. read more

I have been here probably over 30 times in the past year (not exaggerating) and I have never been disappointed. I have tried a variety of items on their menu including house pho, bun bo hue, fried rice cakes, fried egg rolls, spring rolls, chow fun, egg noodle soup, peach green tea, green milk tea, Thai tea, and so much more. So far everything has been amazing and the price is fair. I'll probably end up trying everything on their menu at some point. The only down side is that they're closed on Mondays but who can blame them? Everyone needs a break. read more
