This morning I hit the curb making a turn and blew out my tire. I was able to pull into an alley and ahead of me saw tires. I couldn't believe how lucky I was! I walked over and inquired if they could help. A young man named Calvin stopped what he was doing to come and help me. My car is a lease and I am rather naive to car issues so one of the men inside recommended that I check w my dealer before putting on a new tire. I had to go back to the dealer but Calvin put the spare on for me free of charge. The man inside was also so kind. They easily could have sold me a tire but were sensitive to my situation and instead offered great advice and helped me out of kindness. I was having such a stressful morning and left Graeves with a smile on my face as they were so kind and helpful. We hear so much negativity but they certainly demonstrate humanity and honesty. Graeves fixed a defective strut mount 18 months after first replacing the struts on my car. I was nervous about calling as the warranty on the struts was long gone, but Bobby showed me what was defective on the part and offered to repair it for free since, as struts go, they're still pretty new. Purchased 4 new tires, road hazard warranty, and a four wheel alignment. Called on a Friday morning and they had the tires in later that afternoon. Customer service is excellent. I dropped off ~7:30 AM on a Saturday (no appointments are taken on Saturdays), prepared to hang out in the waiting area. Was immediately offered a ride home! As expected, they called later letting me know that my rear brake pads were very close to the end of their life. I agreed, and let them know that I already had the parts and was going to repair them myself. They were good with that and did not pressure me. Good to know that they are looking out for needed repairs and not scaring the bejesus out of customers about unneeded repairs. They called to let me know that the car was done about 10:30 AM. The invoice: I knew the cost of the tires, alignment, and road hazard up front. I saw that they had a March Madness special for $20 off a set of 4 tires ($200 minimum) and free mounting, so I brought in the coupon when dropping off. I asked how the alignment went and was told, "good." I did not receive the before and after specs of the alignment measurements, so I guess I will have to trust that it was actually done. Trust is a hard thing to come by these days with all of the alternate facts floating around. Other part charges included valve stem service (I have TPMS on the vehicle), high speed balancing, and a per tire recycling fee (state charge). Labor charges included the alignment, tire removal fee, and the road hazard warranty. I do not know how much I saved on the free mounting of the tires, as only - $20.00 was noted as the coupon amount. Not a bad experience. I want to support local shops, so decided to try them out instead of the chains or going the Tirerack route. While I know I could have probably saved a few bucks somewhere else, their customer service is pretty hard to beat. I would have given them 4 stars if I received the before and after measurements of the alignment. The previous set of tires did not have any bizarre wear on them, but knowing if the alignment was out of whack and contributing to abnormal tire wear (or not) would have been helpful. read more

I've been taking my cars to Graeves for almost 30 years. They're honest, reasonable and provide quality results. Most recently, they worked on my daughter's Camaro. The issues and the solutions were clearly explained. Additional recommendations were offered without pressure. The car now runs like a champ. While her car was in the shop, my daughter borrowed my car and promptly got a flat tire. So, we also took advantage of the Graeves free tire plugging service. What's not to like? read more

Do not take your car here. I bought a car that was maintained here. Turbo was replaced and mechanic left a nut in the intake and destroyed the new turbo within 15k. Steering rack was replaced. No locking cotter pins were used in the steering which is very dangerous and the wrong fluid was used destroying the new steering rack in 20K. All I get from them is" its out of warranty". Very bad and dangerous workmanship. Stay away!!! IM an aircraft mechanic and know what good maintenance is and these guys don't. read more

Graeves is decent place to get your car repaired. I have been going to this place for 10 years and Scott has always been helpful and fair. He has some one drive me home when possible after I drop off my car. Scott is up early by 6AM moving cars. I called yesterday to make an appointment for a recommended gasket change. According to the person I've spoken to, this service would take a day so I have to drop my car off by 9:00 the latest. I was at the shop today at around 8:30. I called at 16:00 to follow up on the status of the car and was told that they're still working on it and they will give me a call as soon as it's done. Got a voicemail at 17:00 from Kyle to call the shop and so I did right away. He then told me that they cannot replace the gasket today because they cannot seem to get the correct one for the car and it won't be done until tomorrow. I asked why were they just calling me now when they had my car since this morning??? What stood out from everything he said was "well we're not at the beck and call of the parts owner"... So wtf are you talking about when you had my car all day and this is what you're going to tell me at less than an hour before your shop closes??? So then I said I have to pick my car up today since I need it for work tomorrow he said to give them 30 min and it will be ready. When I got there at around 17:40 Kyle said they are replacing the gasket now and just give them another 20 min. I was initially confused! So you now miraculously have the correct part for the car plus the labor that you claimed would take all day was less than the time it takes to do an oil change??? I questioned the quality of work and he said he guaranteed it and gave a warranty for the part replaced. I was skeptical but didn't have a choice since they had started the work already. I do not know anything about cars but some things are just common sense. Also, do not give me a bs excuse that you were busy today and had to service 60 cars and you encountered problems with them as well...did I really look like I cared???!!! Just tell me straight up that you got to my car late and because it's approaching closing time you don't feel like finishing up the work anymore until the next day. I get it you don't take appointments but have RESPECT on people's time and BE HONEST!!! read more

Stay away. I used to be a loyal customer and "bought" into the family owned mantra that they advertise. Don't be fooled. They billed me for work that was never done on my car. I had an oil leak; they charged me $ 290 for an oil pan gasket replacement in Nov '12. In May '13, I had a better mechanic show me that the gasket had never been replaced despite the Graeves bill. If I could figure out a way to get my money back I would. read more

Unfortunately, I did not feel the magic. I stopped in to see about purchasing a new set of tires, which by my book would have resulted in a sale of about $800-$1000. The gentleman at the counter seemed indifferent to me being there. He asked what size I needed. I told him I had 16" wheels for a Grand Caravan. He said he needed the two previous numbers. I told him I did have it in my van and started to walk out to get it. Then I thought, I am going to drop $1000 here and this guy could care less. He did not even offer to walk outside with me and look at my tires. I got in my van and left. I also thought, these people are in the tire business and could care less about even walking out to inspect them or don't have any idea what would be good for my vehicle. I got in my car and left. On my way out, I did bring it to the attention of the young lady at the counter -- to be fair -- who was out on the lot -- and she did offer to help, but I was soured by my first impression. With me, first impressions are everything and there are plenty of other businesses that will be eager to accept my $. I know this place has been in business for years -- there must be something there, but I did not feel it. read more

I initially ordered a GE stacked W/D unit from Home Depot in Aspen Hill (I didn't realize Graeves had an appliance section). I live in a two level condo. When Home Depot's subcontractors got to my residence and saw the steps, they came up with every reason they could think of as to why the unit wouldn't fit (e.g., it's state law that I have to have this and that, it won't fit, blah blah blah. They were nasty and argued with me - I had done the measurements and KNEW it would fit). So I cancelled my order. Someone suggested Graeves. I purchased the EXACT same unit for the EXACT same price. The guys who delivered it couldn't have been nicer and came out twice afterwards when I called with questions. Very professional. For once I felt like I received stellar customer service. Highly recommend Graeves. I'll definitely think of them first in the future. read more

As if one bad experience with Graeves wasn't enough, (I took a car there for an oil change and they broke my windshield) I decided to give them a second try. Big mistake! I had an appointment for another oil change at 9:00 am, I got there at 8:30 and they assured me my car would be ready very soon, even offered for me to wait for it. I declined the offer because my office is nearby and they agreed to call me as soon as it was done. At 2:30 I call to find out if I can pick up my car and they inform me that they haven't even ordered the oil filter yet that it would be a few more hours. At that I told them to forget about it because they had already wasted 6 hours of my time. They are quick to issue one sorry after another but then they go on about their shoddy service. Spend the extra money and take your car elsewhere, these people have no regard for your vehicle or your time-same old car repair shop crap as always. read more
