Stepped in for a late lunch just before their last call. The place was basically empty of customers except two ladies on a table in the corner. We were told it was very last call and if we can order with in a few minutes would be greatly appreciated. We said no problem. The establishment is very bright and beautiful, elegant in its decor and rightfully so for their place beside the casino. We ordered sui mai(shrimp dumpling), har gow(pork dumpling), xo radish cake(daikon radish cake), fun gau(peanut/meat dumpling, xlb(pork soup dumpling), and dan tat(egg tart) All the food is standardly plated if on a plate, or in bamboo steamer basket. Everything we had was delicious. The radish cake could be crispier but I think due to us coming in so late they were trying to get it out fast. That being said the flavor of the radish came through and the xo sauce was definitely there and you can taste it. Other places I've been to you can't taste the xo. Hargow was large and full of shrimp. Skin was good texture not too thick but not as thin as other places I've been to. Fun gau was nice size, outer skin was nice with proper chew and the filling decently proportioned for a good bite when eating. The xlb slightly small and juicy bit not soupy. Decent if you wish to get the flavor. Sui Mai large and plump with the proper texture. Piping hot from being freshly steamed. The egg tart had a blackish flakey pastry used. Was very warm and buttery but also something about the texture was throwing me. Wasn't gross or anything but it seem almost like a mix of the flakey pastry/cookie pastry mixed. Very soft and the tart was warm. All our dishes were fresh made and appreciated their commitment to their standard of cooking even with us being there so late. read more

Went with our family just because we want to eat king crab. It is better when you have a big group. We reserved for our family, a party of 7 since it is on Saturday. They gave us a private room with access to private restroom. Nice. Parking: free limited parking space in front of the restaurant, you can also park on parking garage in the casino area too. Its a 1 min walk. Free parking The servers are super friendly. As for the crab, they brought the live crab for us to see, and take a picture with. Poor crab. We ordered both dimsum and some dishes from lunch menu. Went here for a company dinner and I had an exceptional experience. We did get a private room which was nice and the food came very quickly. I believe it might've been the 10 course meal but the food was plentiful and flowing! Some favourite dishes that I had that night were the seafood fried rice and chow mein, sweet and sour pork, green beans and cold cuts jellyfish appetizer. Overall this is a great Chinese restaurant for large groups and family gatherings. The staff were very sweet as we did stay a bit past closing time and they helped us pack all of our leftovers. read more

We ordered the fresh lobster with noodles, (they literally bring the fresh live lobster out for you to see if it's the one you want, that's how I knew it's fresh) fried squid, and special fried rice. We came here on a weekday for a family dinner with relatives visiting from Toronto. The place was pretty empty when we got there. The food is ok nothing that spectacular. My favorite dish for the night was their pork chop. The portion size is good and the restaurant is spacious. There were two servers that were really nice and one that kind of ruined the night. Our lazy Susan was full so one server said she will go change our chicken dish to a smaller room late. The Grand Neptune Seafood Restaurant is located next to the Grand Villa Burnaby Casino. You can park in the casino parking garage for free. If you type the address in Google Maps, it doesn't accurately reflect the location well. This restaurant has been constantly hyped on social media. They have a very extensive menu with lots of different dishes, probably the most I've ever seen for a Chinese restaurant. But they are known for their aesthetic desserts like: Coconut Bunny Pudding, Strawberry Bunny Pudding, Lychee & Mango Rabbit, Hello Kitty Steamed Salted Egg Lava Buns, and Baked BBQ Buns. However, I don't think it was worth the value. We definitely came here for the 'gram. The dishes are quite pricey and we spent ~$1K for two tables worth of food (doubles of dishes). I think you can find better value elsewhere. It's also a busy restaurant, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. We were also lucky to be seated in a private room. This restaurant is also far from Vancouver/Richmond, which is where I typically spend my time at when I'm in Canada. So taking in the distance and price, I wouldn't recommend going if you're coming up from Seattle. There are other places worth checking out in Vancouver/Richmond. read more

We decided to try this new all you can eat seafood place when we were in town. There was a parking garage nearby so it was convenient. We arrived 15 minutes earlier than our reservation and were able to get sat right away. Ambiance was typical Chinese restaurant with large tables for groups. Service was efficient and attentive. We ordered some appetizers, lobsters, crabs, veggies, fried rice, vermicelli noodles, and desserts. To our surprised, seafood was not as fresh as we expected. Fried rice was bland. Chicken feet was not what I used to. However, green beans, cucumbers and pickled radish were good but this was not we came here for. Since it's still new, hope the quality of dishes would match the price soon. read more

This place has been hyped everywhere on instagram for the cute dishes so I came here with no expectations tastewise. Surprisingly though, everything was delicious! The service was great too, the waitresses were all very attentive and friendly. We ordered a lot but the dishes that stood out to me the most were the Hello Kitty buns since I love salted egg and the scallop dumpling which was sort of like har gao with less skin and scallop on top. Some other favourites were the deep fried spring roll with purple yam, which was super crispy and unique (highly recommend!) and the fish cake pancake was crispy, tasty and came in a huge portion! We ended up taking 2 full boxes of leftovers home haha. There were still so many things on their dim sum menu we had to skip out on because there were only 5 of us. i've seen grand neptune on social media with all the gimmicky pics and have avoided coming here for that reason, until today. we were a party of three and came by on a thursday at around 12:30 pm. we managed to get a parking spot in their private lot and were seated without having made reservations. this used to be grand dynasty. i preferred the decor and chandeliers at grand dynasty better, it was more opulent. this place was bustling at lunchtime and very loud. the menu is one page, double-sided. prices range from $8.35 small, $9.80 medium, $10.80 large, $11.80 xl, $12.95 sl. tea is charged at $1.95 per person. we had the beef brisket hotpot, $18.95. the stew had great flavour with white turnip, ginger, and other spices, but the meat was very tough. the brisket was quite chewy, making it hard to enjoy fully. both the har gow and siu mai were seasoned well, and the dumplings were a fair size. the har gow had a nice, translucent skin with a generous prawn filling, while the siu mai were plump and juicy. the deep-fried taro with pork and dried shrimp looked a tad pale, but was flaky on the outside and had a nice filling. the taro's exterior was delicate and crispy, contrasting well with the savoury pork and shrimp filling inside. the steamed rice roll with beef was smooth and the beef filling was tender, providing a good mix of textures and flavours. i'm not a fan of establishments that charge a 2% transaction surcharge, which is something to be aware of if you're paying by credit card. read more

So many things wrong and I don't know what to start. If your restaurant advertise this special, at least put some though and care into it. No. They don't. For $310, two adult and two kids, I can have a much better meal and experience elsewhere. Here are the things they did horribly wrong. 1. The crab or lobster aren't fresh and put together in a weird way- one plate of crab or lobster have different temperatures. Don't expect they will give you a whole crab or lobster. 2. Many plates are cold. 3. No service at all. All of our plates and drinks was there and didn't bother to take them away. We had a small table. 4. Ordered once and disappeared. Need to go to front desk and ask for help. 5. I tried to order a friend rice, the server told me they only do it in one size and it is Big, he hinted that two adults won't be able to finish it so it will be wasteful. This is the first time I encountered this sort of problem at a buffet setting. The only good thing about this place is their coca-cola is good. It is in a can. read more

Located right by the casino, there is lots of free underground parking. I expected good food from such a grand looking restaurant but it turns out it both food and service were subpar. Firstly, we had a reservation and when we got there they said they had no room so they stuffed us in the VIP isolated room. Here, you get almost no service, with having to always walk out to speak to someone to get our orders, etc. The food was below average. Siu mai - stuffed with fillers much like Western Lake. Very spongey. Not much shrimp or pork taste. Chinese donut rice roll - donut was not crispy at all. Shrimp spring roll - although fried well, there were random bits of green bean noodles in there which really didnt add to anything. Fried taro pastry - just ok. The filling didnt have much taste. Egg tart - really good puff pastry but the bottom was a bit soggy and oily. Special chow mein - this was the most disappointing dish. The noodles were supposed to come crispy but it was all soggy already. And for over $30... They also missed 2 items on the ordering sheet but we didn't say anything because we didn't want them anymore. When it comes to paying, they charge 2% for credir cards so we used debit. We paid on the lower end for tips because of the poor service. The lady looked at the receipt and said it was not enough and forced us to pay more. read more

Im conflicted about this review. I came here for dinner on a weekday. The restaurant is attached to the casino, on the ground level. Theres a parking lot next to it, and you can also park in the big casino parkade across the street for free. Access is not a problem. Restaurant itself is clean, with new decor, spacious, brightly lit. no complaints there either. We went as a table of 8. Ordered several things: fish maw and crab soup - excellent pea sprouts stirfry - slightly tough but not bad seafood chow mein - excellent beef short rib with veg and gravy - pretty good fresh scallops on the halfshell with garlic and vermicelli - excellent house special chicken - excellent steamed white rice - even this was done well, fragrant and cooked just right. Small detail. Overall, all the food was quite good. virtually no complaints. Service: during the meal, they were attentive, polite, and offered excellent suggestions when ordering. also, no complaints. The problems came at the end. They charge automatic gratuity of 15%. Which I dont have a problem with since we had a large group, but this needs to be clearly displayed somewhere on the website, menu, and/or told to us in person. Instead, they just tacked it on without warning when the bill came. The surprise nature of it is just a really bad look. This place is not cheap. Pricing is higher, but the food as i said, was good, so not a problem. But, if you pay with credit card, they tack on a 2% surcharge. Sure, they can do this, and sure, you can avoid it with cash or debit. But for a place of this calibre, you're gonna charge 2% for credit card transactions? I associate this with small mom and pop shops or small independent restaurants, but for a big local chain like this, that also charges high end prices, this is ridiculous. Makes them look cheap, and leaves a bad taste in your mouth after an otherwise enjoyable meal. There are much cheaper places that dont even do this. So yeah, 3/5 stars is all they get from me for the poor way they handled the bill. read more

Grand Exit? First time trying out this place, the new addition to the one of Neptune groups that took over the previous restaurant, Grand Dynasty. I believe the local medias kind of make a big deal about it being "grand" etc..., during its "grand opening" and its AYCE crab and lobster special plastered everywhere by the so call foodies (just FYI, it's not a good deal when the price of live crabs are so cheap nowadays, do the math, unless you are one of those people who's incompetent in cooking an egg then nvm). This place is located beside the Grand Villa casino in Burnaby. There are plentiful of parking available everywhere. Upon entering the restaurant, there wasn't anything grand with a quick glance of my eyes (maybe compared to a hot dog stand it's grand, seems like another hype by the so called foodies, disappointing). The hostess/manager greeted us and led us to our table, right to the back corner beside the back exit door, lovely! Quick grand exit after done eating came to my mind (eat and dash). There were plenty of empty tables available so why?? I mean I do dress quite presentable and quite an appealing human being? (Facepalm) Anyways, here were the food I ordered for dim sum for 2; 1. Steamed tomato and egg dumplings. I honestly don't know what I was supposed to taste? All the ingredients seem to masked each other out! But they look nice though. 2. Deep fried eggplant with shrimp paste. Pretty generic dim sum dish. 3. Steamed chicken feet in black bean sauce. Another generic dish with no special touch to it but this is one must have dim sum for me in any restaurant. 4. Steamed rice rolls with dry shrimps and green onions. A sub par dish, the rice rolls missing that silky smooth texture. 5. Steamed spicy beef tripes. Very mild spicy flavour and the tripes could've been cut in thinner pieces. 6. Assorted shrimp dumplings in soup. The broth was actually quite tasty with a generous portion of shrimp dumplings. 7. Hello kitty steamed salty egg lava buns. The bun texture was a bit too stretchy but the salty egg cream was decently good. (Hello Kitty is Japanese? Why on the buns their eyes slant downward?) 8. Lychee and mango rabbit dessert. Very cute and actually quite refreshing. 9. Diced beef tenderloin with cucumber. A little bit too salty and overcooked on the beef a bit. 10. Country style fried vermicelli. One of my favourite wok fried vermicelli dish if done proper with a good amount of "wok hay". This dish was okay, missing some wok hay. Overall, the place and service were okay, nothing spectacular or grand in my honest opinion. The dim sum food was pretty basic and mostly generic but with a high mid level price tag. However to be fair, their dessert dim sum were quite cute and tasty, this they deserved a little credit. In conclusion, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. For a similar price tag, I would prefer places like Seaport restaurant more; better food and service, and the atmosphere is more grand. A grand exit for me on this one. This restaurant is conveniently located next to the Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby BC. Not to be confused with "Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant" (Brentwood Mall), this restaurant offers Dim Sum, as well as the standard Dinner menu (plus a new all you can eat crab & lobster menu). The Dim Sum and service was good. The restaurant recently re-opened, and the exterior has been touched up. Would recommend the Deep Fried Chinese Donut Wrapped W/ Steamed Rice Roll. 3/5 because the food is not as good as Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant, but is a cheaper and (usually) less crowded alternative. read more

Our family arranged for lunch at Grand Neptune after the funeral. It has free parking, and the restrooms are adequate. The food was from a banquet menu combining meats and seafood. Me and my family had a great time at the grand Neptune seafood restaurant! We came and was a party of 13 and have the all you can eat crab and lobster. Upon entering, we were greeted with awesome service and see you at big table. We had a wide variety of crab and lobster and they never took too long to bring it out, nor tried to fill us with filler food. They were, many different kinds of crab and lobster selections that all tasted great being there with a newborn was very reassuring since the service was up to par to get us anything that we might need. Since it's located at the casino, there was parking even a parking lot right next to the restaurant so the entrance and exit was accessible for us with our newborn and there was plenty of space in the restaurant for all of us. We went yesterday evening for the "all you can eat lobster and crab dinner menu". It was extremely disappointing. The lobster was mushy. Crab was "sold out" at 7pm. Lobster tail meat was almost nonexistent in any of the dishes served. Most of the pieces were heads and legs.There are too many side dishes made from cheap ingredients to fill us up. For a party of 16 persons, we paid around $1600 for sub par food and services. The official closing hour for the restaurant was 10pm. Around 9:40pm, while we're still eating, we were literally kicked out of the restaurant by the staff. When we questioned her about the closing hour. She replied rudely that the restaurant closes at 9:30. I seldom write bad reviews, but the experience was beyond my imagination for an expensive dinner. read more

My worst experience EVER at a restaurant. They had a king crab promotion for $27/lb. My friend called to reserve a crab two days prior. Our group was looking extremely forward to this meal, and arrived on time to the restaurant. We were seated at a table, and went unattended for 20 min. During this time we asked for service 3 times, and were never even served a pot of tea which is customary at Chinese establishments. Eventually a manager came to our table and told us that they had run out of king crabs at the promotional price of $27/lb, but could sell us a king crab at $34/lb. This made absolutely no sense to us. We tried to reason with him, and his final answer was that they had run out of crabs at the promotional price even though we had reserved one. We walked straight out of the establishment and went elsewhere for a lobster and Peking duck dinner. Grand Neptune Seafood Restaurant has extremely dirty business practices. DO NOT TRUST THEIR PROMOTIONS. I will never set foot in this establishment again and will spread the word about their dirty business practices. read more
