I would give this place four stars if they had service! Went there today for brunch with a friend. We had a reservation and we arrived five minutes early. We stood and waited for a greeting for about ten minutes. We were then seated. Then we waited for another ten to fifteen for her to come with water. Then she left. I had to get up and ask for a menu and several minutes later she brought the code to get it online. That's all very fine:) . We waited about ten more minutes and the bartender came over to the table to help... we ordered drinks from him and we ordered our food. The drinks were pretty much ok. The food came about thirty minutes later, served by the bartender. Both dishes were very good but both were served cold! I had to get up and ask for extra napkins. Nobody checked on us to see if everything was ok. I hoped for a candle on something for the birthday but gave up on that! No desert or coffee was offered. Once again, I had to go to the bar to ask for the check! All in all, I did quite a bit of jumping up and down for service. There was no service as such! It's very sad :( The place is nice really. The one server is way too busy and she's not very well trained. She's oblivious to people waiting and she's pretty clueless when it comes to service needs! She's very sweet but she's untrained and completely out of her depth! The bartender is good, he made a nice spicy Bloody Mary. He's way too busy to be serving food as well as making drinks! There weren't that many occupied tables really but there were too many to expect good service from one under qualified server and one bartender who appeared to be running the show! They were both doing their best... but come on? I get tired of the "covid" excuse! All in all, I felt disappointed and I was especially sad because I was treating my friend for her birthday! Please get some staff and please service your guests ! The food is quite good but when it's served cold, it is just sad :( Slow to no service is just awful! Was so hoping this place would be great. It's not. I'd say decent but could be better if they had someone who knew restaurants to help them. Bar is cluttered with stacks of papers and a random banana which is obviously someone's snack but every detail matters. Octopus dish chewy. Bone marrow - fine. I always have a good time over here. The staff is always very pleasant you can tell that they all enjoy what they are doing. The chef always makes a point of saying hello which i think is a very nice touch. I usually get the chicken wings. One time i got the spiciest ones and as someone who considers themself the Rambo of spicy food lemme tell ya these bad boys might be the spiciest in the valley, possibly Los Angeles. The inside is very pretty and modern and they have a super awesome back patio perfect for a date when the weather is nice. I'd recommend coming to this place for sure. Came here with a group for happy hour last week only to find out they redid their menu and no longer offered happy hour. Dammit. I had previously been here once before and liked it, but without happy hour, it is quite pricey. Cocktails are creative, but average drink is about ~$15. Food was OK. We live close so decided to try this place out and tried the brunch menu. I had the stuffed French toast and my husband had the breakfast burrito. We both felt the food was just ok, no big deal for the price. The alcoholic drinks were good and the server was great- very good service plus he was good looking. . Was so looking forward to Gray Tavern. Menu eclectic but not well executed. Decor outside kinda sloppy and the all female staff (while nice to look at) didn't provide service as good as their looks. If you're going to serve whiskey the server should have SOME idea in my opinion. She actually said i don't drink whiskey so i don't know. We tried a few things and everything was really salty. The outside patio which is lovely kinda gets ruined by the janky outside storage. Just hide it with a screen or something. We spent a hundred bucks and ended up going to get a slice of pizza after. We used to be regulars at this place so it saddens me to leave this review. We had dinner at Mantee and thought we'd pop over for a drink. There was no one at the host stand and the bartender just told us to sit anywhere, so we did. It took 15 mins for anyone to even acknowledge us, it's like we were invisible. The one waiter just pretended like we weren't even there and went in the back to screw around. Finally, the bartender asked us if we wanted water to which we said yes. He then comes back again 10 mins later and asks us if we want water...again. We order drinks and he disappears for another 15 mins (mind you, the patio was basically empty) and then comes back and asks if we were ready to order drinks...again. We were so put off and weirded out by this bizarre experience that we opted to leave. The staff doesn't seem to care at all anymore and it's really a shame. It like this place will shut down soon. I'm pretty sure all of them were just drinking in the back and hoping we would leave. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Just stopped in to try the taco Tuesday and I must say, WOW. 3 steak tacos and a michelada for only $16. Not talking any dollar street tacos. These are true pieces of steak. A friend and I went during happy hour and I ordered a dark & stormy my assumption was that it was a well drink (happy hour), when I got the bill, I was charged regular price. When I asked the bartender/server he said they don't carry a well dark rum.... I believe the server/bartender should have said this when I ordered the drink but instead they did not. Gray Tavern has some of the best food and drinks in Studio City. I've now been here for brunch as well as the late night service and both are equally delicious. The menu has great diversity and I have never been disappointed with my choice. The patio is especially lovely for brunch, almost has a feel that you are in a greenhouse. Wanted to like this place but the food was weak. Calamari was a bowl full of fried breading. My skirt steak was flavorless and overcooked. I complained about my skirt steak cuz it was like $26 and instead of offering to send out another one (good idea) or take it off the bill (better idea) or give us a round of the expensive cocktails we were drinking (best idea)... they sent out shots of Jim Beam. A truly perplexing move. Waiter then proceeded to disappear for a solid half hour. Nobody in our party is headed back here anytime soon. So bummed. When I stepped through the door I felt a great warmth and welcoming feeling. The bars decor was absolutely stunning and comfortable. When you usually walk into a bar you have never been into sometimes makes you feel a little uncomfortable. But here I instantly felt comfortable. Me and my fiance first went to Gray Tavern for brunch. It was so good and delicious that we both agreed that we must come for dinner and we did. As first time we were not disappointed. Service was on point and very attentive. We set on a patio both times and I highly recommend it. I love their decor , makes it cozy and romantic . For dinner we tried Caesar salad which was different from your typical one, but very tasty . We also had shrimp scampi and jambalaya. Both were amazing. I forgot to mentioned their cocktails are definitely made by a professional mixologists. Highly recommend to try a few or they can mix whatever your heart desires that day. As it turned out we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was The popcorn chicken which had a little kick was quite tasty. We also had the hanger Steak and Brussels sprouts which were prepared to perfection. Ok, our recent visit was a much better experience than my previous. Much more comfortable this time because it wasn't soooo packed...I was told that the launch of a new reservation system that night caused some issues. Service was a lot better and our server checked up on us multiple times to make sure everything was good. I was sitting there chatting with my friend and the server was doing fine checking in but I caught a glimpse of the chef and he just kept stomping around and glaring. He also seemed like he had a cold and I was grossed out that he might touch my food (idk I'm kind of a germaphobe tho maybe I'm being dramatic with that part) anyway he like snapped at a server for no reason and was so aggressive I got goosebumps (I'm an empath). Me and my family came here for dinner, the menu was cut down a lot from before and didn't have good options. They had pretty good mock tails and drinks but charged so much for mock tails. Our waiter seemed like he didn't wanna be there and he wasn't the nicest to us even though we were super nice to him. We got the fried chicken sandwich which made me feel sick and didn't have much flavor but was pretty good. The fries were yummy but some of them weren't cooked threw.
