When you dont have a timetable you can't be late and when you dont have a destination you can't get lost. So I drove. Marshfield is where I ended up. Green Harbor Lobster Pound to be exact. It's a no frills beachside shack that does seafood justice. I went with the Jumbo Lobster Roll. My no timetable no destination compadre went with the Scallop Plate and we split a small onion ring. There had to be a pound and a half of lobster meat precariously stuffed into a griddled new england style hot dog roll. Mostly tail meat as fresh as can be. They said it had mayonaise but it appeared unadorned and perfect. I chipped away with a fork before attempting the impossible. Finally with a deft jaw unhingng maneuver I was able to partake. In between bites I pulled the nerf football sized roll away and stared. I honestly could've made two regular sized lobster rolls with what I had left. It had beaten me and somehow I won. read more

This is perhaps the best place to get seafood in the Marshfield area. The lobster rolls are to die for and the fried clams are first rate. Best Onion Rings aroundI took a star off because honestly for as busy as this place gets in the summertime they need more help. It's not unusual if you arrive in person for them to take up to a half an hour to take your order and get you your food. The best way to get your food in a more timely manner is to call in your order but sometimes it's so busy the staff doesn't have time to answer your call. This should be a clear wake up call to the management that they need more people working during the busy times of the day. Summary: If you don't mind waiting a bit for your food this is the seafood joint for you. Great tasting seafood (and Onion Rings) almost makes the wait worthwhile. read more

My friend and I got a chance to check this place out. We each got the jumbo lobster rolls and I gotta tell you, it was worth the price! The lobster was fresh and they really piled it into the toasted, buttery roll. I can't give them the full 5 stars though because we had such trouble trying to find parking. But a tip if you're visiting and you're there just to eat, you can park by the outdoor picnic tables. The actual parking lot seems to be reserved for beach goers. read more

We parked here for the beach, which was great. Note is is $20 to park. It is also cash only!! We got lobster rolls and whole belly fried clams and fries after we had a lovely day at the beach. The lobster roll was a decent size to share (we did the jumbo). It had succulent pieces of lobster that was so sweet! It wasn't too heavy with mayonnaise. We also got the fried clams. They weren't the best fried clams I've ever had, but they were crispy, not too heavily battered, and not greasy at all. I wished we got a wedge of lemon, but overall good. Tarter sauce didn't have a ton of flavor. The fries were a good size and crispy and hot! I did not care for the coleslaw. I would definitely park here again and get lunch again as well. read more

I don't want I say too much and attract unwanted attention from outsiders. This is a classic neighborhood lobster shack with terrific Lovster rolls and whole Belly clam. They do serve burgers and dogs as well for those that want second best. I Love their scallops that melt in your mouth like butter. You've never had scallops this tender and delicate. I definitely want to remember this place for the next time I'm on the South Shore. You can buy live (or boiled) fresh local lobsters from Green Harbor here. The plan was lobster rolls but it was cool to look at them, talk to the guy, and watch little girl pick one up. Honestly, I liked the food better knowing it couldn't get more local. We split a giant lobster roll and fried whole clams. The roll was very generously loaded with lobster that continued to fall out even after picking at it with forks so we kept our tray handy to catch any droppings. None was wasted! And of course it had a buttered roll. As for the clams, so many sizes to choose from (small, medium, large, plate, & basket??)... After a pause we ordered a small expecting a small snack as a side for the roll but it could have been a meal unto itself. And so delicious! Lightly fried with a bit of salt but definitely not overpowering the clams. Yum! We ate it all on a picnic bench next to an empty stream bed (it was low tide) but I got the idea and could see boats in the distance floating in water so it was an okay view that should be better at high tide. And we saw those rolls delivered from a local bakery. It's a couple blocks from a very large beach. Total cost ($47.70). All in all definitely a highly recommended visit! read more

First time here and last. This place is a rip off. We ordered a small scallop and a 3 way with extra scallops and shrimp. This cost us 50.00. We sat down to eat ad o open up the 2 way too see 6 little scallops and 5 shrimp with a hand full of fries. Mind you the scallops were cut so basically 3 scallops. I went up to the window to ask them if it was right the lady said i only paid for a small scallop and a 2 way. I said a 2 way is 6 scallops and 5 shrimp. She said thats what you get. How have we been driving to the beach in Marshfield for 20+ years and just discovered this gem!! Lobster roll, complete with a toasted, real butter buttered roll, and enough libster for 2 roll! Asked for fries crispy and they were perfect and piping hot. Excellent Lobster Roll. Ordered the small size, $27.95, 7 ounces (approximately meat from 2 chicken lobsters); seemed to be all tail, claw and knuckle. Basically a grilled roll overflowing with lobster with perhaps a touch of mayo but could not detect any. Lobster was very fresh, tender and sweet. Delicious and Easily shareable for 2 people. Cream of the crop lobsters, superb but pricey (and worth it ) lobster roll, great fried seafood and onion rings. Lobsters are purchased daily from the local lobsterman. Only the best hardshell specimens that are packed full of meat are saved and sold at their normal prices. The other lobsters are the kind you get at most other places-rejects from high end restaurants and local establishments like this where the premium ones are retained for the savvy local lobster consumers. They are packed full of meat, and very sweet and flavorful. A lobster sheds to grow-and it's new shell is larger and much of it is empty leaving room for growth. It fills with liquid. The liquid is tasty and it makes it easier to get the meat out with 'paperback' or non hardshell shells. But it's mushy meat and devoid of flavor usually. A hardshell lobster is succulent and sweet and is the best value per lb of meat even though more expensive. Paul at the pound will not sell you an inferior lobster, it's his reputation. This is the only place I buy mine and I often get a seafood platter and/or one of the humongous plates of freshly made onion rings. The lobster roll is pricey, sometimes nearing 40.00 but it's enough for two and huge, again, well worth it. I think they have a smaller size but I always get this one. A wonderful place-check them out at high tide in summer and watch the local kids jumping off the bridge into the tidal creek right alongside of the creek with picnic tables to eat your takeout! read more

This seasonal place has a decent menu and decent prices and is the only place within walking distance to Green Harbor beach. Because of it's location wait times can be 20-30 minutes for food, but that's fine. While it is the usual fried and grilled foods, it isn't a greasy spoon and you won't regret it afterwards. Their seafood is super fresh and would be a shame to pass on. If you hate their beach parking prices, remember all the beaches charge for that, let alone the nicest beach on the south shore, and only 5 minutes away from it! read more

The staff here is very friendly and quick, and it is in a great location. They really know how to make customers feel like family. They have the best lobster roll I have ever had for only $18. They use huge pieces of lobster and pile them on to a tiny hot dog bun. You can almost get two meals out of one of their lobster rolls. Their french fries and seafood chowder are also excellent. They typically close at 7pm during the summer, but one Friday night I got there at 6:58 and ordered a lobster roll (they still had lobster meat left). Since I was the last customer of the evening, they gave me all the lobster meat they had left (double what you'd normally get from them) because they would have had to throw it out if they didn't use it, and they only charged me for one lobster roll. Not too many places will do that. I ended up eating lobster for lunch all that weekend. If you happen to go to the Green Harbor Lobster Pound, make sure you have enough cash or a checkbook, because they don't accept credit cards. read more
