I am so glad we found Green New American while visiting Phoenix. It's always such a treat to find a place with a wide choice of creative, flavorful and satisfying vegan menu items. Everything on the menu sounded good but I had a taste for noodles and landed on the Firecracker Red Curry bowl. It did not disappoint. The service at Green American was helpful and friendly, they offer craft beer and some creative mixed drinks, and the place has a cool, comfortable vibe. I ordered Spinach Fundido Dip: Organic spinach, white wine, and creamy artichoke queso dip served with corn chips. It taste just like the original spinach dip I remember before going vegetarian. It just needed a little salt so I added a dash. I also got The Original G Po-Boy : classic buffalo mock chicken, fresh lettuce, tomato and mayo on a toasty ciabatta. This was good. I only wish the "chicken" patty was a little thicker. I got cheese fries as a side. I had to look it up on the website bc I couldn't believe it was vegan cheese. Been coming here on and off for years. There is one employee with brown hair and glasses that is super nice every-time I come in. They say thank you for tips and are always smiling. Searched for vegetarian options in the area and this vegan joint came up. The menu has plenty options to choose from. Asked the woman at the front what was recommended, she mentioned the buffalo "wings" are a good choice and what they're known for, which I figured I'd give a try. I wasn't too much a fan of them as they were a little chewy and tangy for my taste, but still edible; I wouldn't order them again. The Big Wac which is their version of a "Big Mac" from McDonalds was delicious. It had two vegan patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, sesame seed buns. I definitely would recommend this! The items are a la carte, didn't order fries but they did look good! I added a peanut butter bar to the side for dessert. They're known for their shakes so I'm bummed I didn't try one! Prices are average..came out to $21.45 after tip. Let me start by saying I love this restaurant and the options on the menu.. I've never had a bad experience until.. I typically always get the Big Wac, at least 2x/ month. It's my favorite sandwich, or least I thought it was. Tonight, after placing my order online and allowing sufficient time for preparation, I opened my box at home and found a sloppy, heavily mayo'd sandwich with little lettuce. The sandwich had so much mayo it was kind of mushy. It didn't even look appeitizing.Too bad I travelled 20min from home for a sandwich that was subpar. I'm pretty disappointed. We are big fans of the Phoenix location, but we were in Tempe for an event and wanted to see how this location stacks up. I had been once before we moved, so my memory was a little hazy. The verdict: same great food and incredibly friendly and laid back service. Win and win! My husband opted for the special of the night, which was a huge carnitas burrito drenched in enchilada sauce. I am pretty sure he licked the plate. I went for tacos, and while the special taco was good, the standee "ultimo" taco won the day. I could go back for two more of those right now! As mentioned, service was tops. The guy who took our order was helpful and laid back, not at all annoyed that we took our time and changed our order once. The guy that brought our food was funny and cool. It was a no stress environment, even though it was pretty crowded. Do not pass this place up!! Every time I fly into PHX this is 100% my first stop after I leave the airport. My favorite I get every time I come is the BFF. It tastes just like a McDonald's hot and spicy. I highly recommend this dish and even the staff has recommended this dish to my friends as well. I have also tried the Wendy's Pickle and that is pretty good but not as good as the BFF. Second favorite is the fires. You have to try the east coast and the west coast fries. My favorite is the east coast because who doesn't love buffalo cheese fries?!?! You really can't go wrong with any dish here! Last time I was visited they had enchiladas on special and they were some of the best I have had. Perfect flavor and consistency. They have a big selection of soda's (sugar free ones as well), juices, kombuchas, and teas. OH! You cant forget about their dessert. tSoynami is seriously so delicious! I always get one to go. My favorite flavor is the Fluffynutter'n! I haven't tried any of their other flavors because this one is just so good! They are normally super busy with lines out the door around lunch time, so get there early. Although don't get discouraged by the long line, it moves fast and the food comes out fast. When I moved here someone recommended Green New American and after checking the menu and yelp I knew I had to try it. I was absolutely blown away! Everything was absolutely delicious! I always wished they were open on Sundays because the church I grew up going to, St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church, is in the neighborhood nearby and we are vegan for religious purposes half the year. I got the big wac per their recommendation and it didn't disappoint. It was filling and flavorful. Highly recommend this burger Boy friend got the chicago cheese steak. He offered to let me taste it and I declined. It looked very messy, greasy and sort of hard to eat as it was falling apart. He said it wasn't that great. We got the chili fries and it was a little disappointing. The fries were cooked very well but the chili didn't come poured over it like one would expect rather it was more like we got 2 sides. One chili and the other fries. The chili was also pretty watery so we wouldn't have been able to mix the two together really. The Food was amazingly good. I like the curries. My daughter loves the artichoke salad. The service is fine. They succeed. They don't reach top notch positive but I have never had anything negative. The ambience is what keeps me from giving the place a five star. I like that they don't like push you out so we chatted for an hour and hit the all you can drink juices after we ate. That's rare these days. What I hate is the wall decoration. There is this mural that looks like a microscope slide of bacteria. GET RID OF IT. It's in one of the bathrooms, and it really makes me nervous. Hint - use the potty closest to the kitchen. They also have a wall of what looks like morgue doors. Just so many metal doors all the same size. It gives me the creeps. WHY have morgue doors in a restaurant? I can appreciate that they use recycle stuff, but out of a morgue. Our booth just under the mural looked to have been made from old church pews. (Hint, it's comfy!) If I owned the place, I would replace the scary art. I thought the American Gothic picture, but have an AI picture site depict it as also a Japanese farmer with rice, a black farmer, a native American farmer, etc. All the American Gothics. Well, that was pretty great. I've been to my share of vegan restaurants in my life having been vegetarian for 27 years and this one is definitely among the best. It has a cool, hippie-hipster vibe that makes you wonder if you're in Seattle or Humboldt instead. Being a lover of all things PEACE, LOVE, and HAPPINESS, this place is totally my jam. It's an order-at-the-counter place or what we all kind of dub as "fast casual" or whatever. You grab a drink from the case, some vegan cookie dough for later and order your food. They hand you a number and deliver to your table. They don't have fountain soda, but awesome, homemade juices that take the place. You can buy sodas though, just fancier ones in the bottle cooler case. We had a variety of things--mock orange chicken with veggies and rice (good), egg rolls (a bit bland but fixed that with sriracha--would've been better stuffed with more crunchy veggies and glass noodles), thyme fries (yum), veggie burger (decent, topped with high quality stuff) and the favorite, fried Brussels Sprouts with lime. It was alllllll about those Brussels, people. I am dreaming of those, honestly. I could eat a whole dinner of just those. Mmmmm. I've been vegetarian for about nine years and heard so many rave reviews about this place, i decided to finally give in. A friend and I both got the Wendy's pickle sandwich and some wings to share. The sandwich was super good and very filling. If you're an avid meat eater, it definitely doesn't taste like authentic chicken but it's close as I've gotten! The sauce was also delicious and with the pickles it was the perfect combo. I just wish the chicken was a little crispier. As far as the wings, I was a huge fan but my friend didn't like them. She said the texture was a little stringy. To be fair, she also just doesn't like buffalo sauce which has nothing to do with Green New American.
