HOWEVER, this horrendous place Grill City....I just spent damn near an hour in line. When I get to the front lady tells me they're out of BBQ and that it'd be ANOTHER 30-40min. Entire time I was in line nothing was cooking on the grill. They finally started cooking more when they realized they ran out. Not efficient at all and extremely inconvenient for customers. How can you be called "Grill City" if you don't even have BBQ. You start cooking pre-emptively when you have a massive line and are aware that some items are running low or have a batch that was just recently cooked to put out. I don't even know why it took so long, everything was already cooked! They had 2 ladies in the line handing out tickets and filling out order slips. Then the tickets are placed on the counter and are received by the preparers in no particular order!!! And the people preparing the food in containers....OMG slow as molasses. And those loonng order slips are just a hindrance. The servers spent too much time looking at it. They looked like they were reading a damn novel!!! There was no rhyme or reason to the madness and customers were pissed!! There was a huge drove of customers at the registers with service numbers all over the place waiting ages for food that's ALREADY COOKED. My family frequents this place and I never really had an problem with their food. But now, never again!!! My grandma and I had an early lunch together since we were so busy running errands and haven't had any time to eat all morning. My grandma ordered the chicken BBQ rice combo with sinigang and I ordered the grilled squid rice combo with sinigang. I GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THE GRILLED SQUID!!!! Literally right after eating our lunch, my stomach hurt really bad and I threw up. I also spent the whole day in the "office." Grill city is a pretty good place to go to for a quick bite to eat or a good meal to sit down to in a busy ambience. I agree with others that the prices can be a bit on the high end, though the food isn't bad. If you're not used to Filipino food then you may not like it here due to some of the foods being "exotic" for some, but the food is tasty. I've been to the Philippines before and the food here does remind me of the food there, though not exactly the same of course for all of the food. The chicken inasal is not great in my opinion, as it's my favorite food from the Philippines but may be okay for some. Overall the food there is good and the service is ok, would recommend to people who enjoy eating Filipino food. read more

People seem to complain about the service here, and I understand why. The servers are overworked and often can't get to everyone quickly. That said, this is just as much the fault of the customers as the employees. When people don't know what they want, or constantly change their order, it holds up the line, that's a reality of the industry and it's nobody's fault. That said - Salmon steak with rice for $7.95 . . . what else do I need to say? The pork BBQ is excellent, and the chicken is pretty good to. I go to Seafood City in Concord quite regularly to food shop and I always stop by Grill City to get food on my way home to Danville. This Christmas, I wanted to have a "traditional" Filipino Christmas meal so I decided to try their Holiday Party Package (Cebuchon, Hardinera, Pancit Palabok and Tropical Mango Cream). On Dec 16, I waited in line to order the package. When it finally came my turn to be served, I was told to "just" order online because it is "easier and faster". I was a little annoyed but the staff looked overwhelmed. I have always observed how the staff lacks customer service skills but being a kababayan, I normally would just ignore it. The following day, Dec 17, I put in my order online (Paid in full) for pick up at 4pm on Dec 25. Additionally, I also ordered a large Kare-Kare, large Laing, grilled squid and Pampano. On Christmas morning, I tried calling the store to tell them that I will be late picking up but no one answered the phone. I got there at 4:30pm only to find out that they did not receive my order. I showed them my email order confirmation. All three ladies just scrambled around and turned their backs on me. One said she will check with the office. After 30 minutes of waiting, the lady came back from the office and said I did not have an order in. I again showed my confirmation and she went back to the office to check again. I waited another 30 minutes. Another lady came out and asked to see my order confirmation. I showed her again. I am usually a very patient person but I was really trying my best to keep calm. Without any word, the lady just left. I waited again. At that point, I was starting to get irritated so I asked the cashier if I am still waiting for someone. She timidly said "Ewan ko po". I asked to talk to the supervisor or store manager. I was asked to wait again. After another half hour, I was told that "niluluto pa po ang laing". Finally, at 6:30pm, I got my order. I was asked if it is okay to replace the squid with barbeque because they were out. I said no and asked for a refund. The lady told me they cannot do it at the store I have to go online and request a refund. I let it go because it was getting late. When I got home at 7pm, with guests waiting, I unwraped a burned, chewy Cebuchon! I had to put it back in the oven in an attempt to get the skin crispy again. Plating the kare-kare, I found only 2 chunks of meat! They even forgot to give me the alamang that goes with it. Needless to say, it was a Christmas dinner disaster but our family is still grateful that we spent Christmas together. read more

This was my first time at this Philippine semi-fast-food place in the Seafood City complex, though my wife has been there several times before with out-of-town visitors, and swears by the place. First impression: very clean; long line and slow service at the serving counter. We tried a number of dishes: Shrimp soup: good shrimp (in the shell) in a rather sour broth, with green beans and coarsely-chopped root vegetables. Okay, though I'm a bit squeamish about having to peel shrimp. Barbequed pork skewer. Tasty bur rather fatty. Served with the above soup and white rice. Barbequed chicken skewer: Better than the pork; same sauce, but more meat, less fat. Dinuguan: Somewhat bland; various sorts of mystery organ meat. Kare-kare: Tender oxtail in a creamy, delicious peanut sauce. Halo-halo: Red and green gelatinous bits and red beans in a sort of mango slurpee; sweet and slightly tart. Overall, pretty good renditions of Philippine classics, but I don't know that I'd make the 20-mile trip to Seafood City just for the grill. read more

Every cuisine should have a setup like this. This is the Panda Express of Filipino food. Came here on a Friday during lunch and the wait was minimal. The BBQ sticks had really good flavor. Grill City is a place of atonement. I go to Grill City to punish my wallet, taste buds, stomach and GI system. Grill City gives Filipino food a bad reputation. The food is not worth the prices. The meats are over cooked, dry and greasy. The other side dishes and entrees are so oily you can fry lumpia with the residual oil. Come on, it's Saturday that's unacceptable, it's like saying you ran out of rice. Not cool. The s/o and I both got it as a combo with rice and another entree. The s/o got the Bangus Sisig and I got the Pancit. My pancit was alright, but it was a little greasy. The s/o liked the Bangus Sisig, I'm not down with Bangus so I can't say. I had a light breakfast earlier in the day and wanted to get a snack before having lunch with my in laws. Decided to try grill city which is located in front of seafood city. It's a open restaurant right smack in the middle of the mall, can't miss it. Lots of open seating around the restaurant, also kind of cool to people watch like figuring out if the white guy with the Filipina meet her on a online site. Anyways, while looking at their skewers, I noticed their colorful menu board. The food was displayed on banana leaves which gives me the impression they serve their food on banana leaves which would be cool but figured they didn't. I ordered their salmon skewer and BBQ pork skewer. The salmon skewer was ok.. A bit on the dry side but still edible. The BBQ pork was pretty good also but had a lot of burnt ends. This is my new fave spot to satisfy my pinoy cravings for grilled meat and exotic pinoy streetfoods. They do have isaw,chicken feet,kwek-kwek,fish ball and more in their streetfood stall and its only a dollar each stick but you gotta pay it in cash. But I don't know if their streetfood stall is only on weekends because I've been there only once. I love their Chicken BBQ, sooooo Filipino!!..I do love everything that I've tried and also the mango shake with jello is so refreshing. We went there during peak hours so we walked around looking for seats. Then when we found 4 vacant chairs but without a table so my sisters had to ask a group of guys if we could use the other table. I love there food. I am dishearten last Monday, my friend and I ate the same food. She didn't eat her atsara. I ate mine. She told me that her atsara smells bad that is spoiled. I was upset that I didn't smell it because I have allergy, my noise didn't can't smell spoiled odor. After she told me, she removed out of her plate, I knew I will have diarrhea. So I did! Chicken BBQ Sticks! Ya the price is high for some skewers compared to local Filipino spots in Daly City and San Francisco but for what we have out on this side of the bay, it works. Also, they operate in super slow motion. If you get in line in the morning to get your food, by the time you pay they'll be closing at night. Yesterday was my cheat meal for the week so I decided to have a chicken and pork stick from Grill City in Concord. But first I had to use the little boy's room. When I walked in and a "worker" (someone with a red visor that worked somewhere in the area) walked out of the pooping stall and looked like he was just going to walk out without washing his hands till he saw me. So I continued to go to the pee pee receptacle and do my business. At this point I heard the "worker" wash his hands briefly and noticed him fixing his hair and visor. As I washed my hands, he took some paper towels, dried his hands, and used the same paper towels to wipe off the soles of his shoes.....yeah....He then threw the paper towels away and went off to "work". I followed him to see where he was going, just so I knew not to go there. He seemed to go to another store so I knew I was safe. I stood in line at Grill City, waiting to order my food, drooling over the meat sticks, when I noticed the same guy over the grill checking to see if it was hot. I thought to myself, "OH HELL NAW!!!"
