Baristas shouldn't work morning shift if they're not morning people because I didn't feel welcome at all. I ordered an iced matcha with their house cashew milk but I only tasted the milk. I asked for light ice and still got a cup full of ice. I also ordered two pastries (blueberry muffin and banana walnut loaf) and nobody offered to heat them up; loaf was stiff and tastes like it's been sitting for days. This cafe is not easy to find and the only reason why I stopped by is because I was already nearby + saw TikTok reviews. Very sketch area since it's by the subway station, the employees don't even want to work and pricey considering I didn't enjoy anything about this experience. Love the decor and vibe of this place. Lots of entrances blocked off and a security guard out front probably due to the nature of this location. The staff was friendly. The dirty chai was ok. The matcha latte was nothing special but not bad. Both were small to medium sized. The vegan breakfast burrito was large, piping hot and oily. It didn't have much flavor but wasn't bad in any way. We enjoyed the vegan BLTA sandwich and will get again. It came with a giant crunchy pickle. The cost of those 4 items came to $50 with tip! That's a lot for a quick breakfast. Hours of operation are 6:30am-4pm. But the kitchen doesn't open until 8am. Which is kind of ridiculous for folks wanting to get breakfast and coffee before work at this cafe. FANTASTIC COFFEE IN A CUTE SETTING Discovered this adorable historic train station, repurposed as a cool coffee shop, when I went to a MeetUp here. The organic drip coffee ($3.75) is smooth and strong, but I have yet to indulge in their food. Outside, there were plenty of tables to relish this pleasant environment. Inside is roomy with an industrial touch. Make sure to get the code if you need to use the restrooms, which you enter from the outside. Five stars for the ambience and the unique quality of the coffee shop, located in a historic train station. The parking is a little tricky here; I believe it's only street parking. I thought it was super cool for this experience, however I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee as much; we got the Vietnamese cold brew and a cafe au lait with oat milk. I personally like bolder chocolate based coffee brews, and their coffee was more citrusy. I did buy their organic bitches brew coffee beans (dark roast with chocolate and caramel notes)! We've been picking up to go coffee from here for the longest time. I've typically had a good experience with the staff working there but unfortunately this morning my experience was different. When I went to pick up my coffee that my wife ordered online on their app, an employee named Marcus, shouted at me rudely asking me what I'm doing. I turned around and said I'm just looking for my coffee. He continued to rudely apprehend me as if I've done something terribly wrong. He yelled at me and said I'm supposed to ask, I said well I didn't know as this is first time someone has told me this. You'd think this would stop his bad manners but he continued to lecture me as if they have a huge sign saying "ask us". I obviously stopped what I was doing and said you have to be nicer to customers and I think you should apologize for yelling at me. Not only he didn't apologize but he said something like hell no! I walked out without getting the coffee I paid for. If you don't want folks to grab coffee from the table you have placed the to go orders, you can put a big sign there saying so or place them out of reach. If that's not possible you can politely say "can I help you sir?" Screaming at a customer like they have done the worst thing in the world is not good customer service. Pretty sad to see the outside tables area become a homeless hangout spot... from having blankets on top of the tables, to luggage and bags with dirty clothes all over the place, lots of homeless people, hanging there, charging their phones, using the tables. there was a homeless woman sitting on a table with her legs open wearing a skirt , it was very uncomfortable to even find a clean table to place my food and eat. I recently visited with my girlfriend to get some coffee for us to share. Unfortunately, our experience was unpleasant. As I waited by the door, I noticed one of the staff giving my girlfriend attitude simply because she asked for almond milk due to dietary issues. She was very polite, so the reaction was unprofessional. To make matters worse, I observed that It took longer for my girlfriend to get our order because she did not tip, while other people who tipped after her received their orders first. So tip=shorter wait times. The customer service is terrible. Vibes are terrible. To top it all off, our matcha latte cost us eight dollars, which is quite overpriced for the experience we had. I also ordered a bite size burrito ($5) which was satisfying and perfect if you don' want a huge meal portion at the time. The ambiance is cozy and inviting. There is plenty of seating. The one downside is that the bathroom was an absolute nightmare. It was pretty hard to stay inside to use it. The urinal had not been flushed and was filled with fluid. However, staff were friendly. We visited Groundwork's coffee with a group of 10 people. The Coffee was made quickly and tasted mediocre. We made a comment to the Woman working behind the counter about how fast the coffee was made to which she replied "yes of course, it's because I'm on drugs". This comment alone was just a little concerning but it is what it is. The food only took about 15 minutes which is very impressive for 10 people. We ordered the burrito, bitches hash, avocado toast, yogurt parfait, and oatmeal bowl. The quality of the food is the reason for the 2 star review. The food has no flavor and honestly some of the food didn't even look real. Our experience here was less than stellar and we won't be back. read more

Brought my sister here on her bday brunch. We were excited because the train depot is a registered historic landmark built in the 1890s. The service was fast and friendly. Plenty of seating. It felt really safe and quiet outside but we chose to sit inside because it had good AC. The food was good, better compared to Starbucks. Don't expect restaurant quality. I've come to greatly enjoy this Groundwork Coffee location because it is so spacious, and I love that it is in an old train station. I've come here to help pass the time between plans, and I've been able to find seating and have consistent Wifi every time. Plus, the timing usually aligned with their Cold Brew Happy Hour, which is a nice deal. The coffee itself of course is delicious, though one minor comment is that I think the specialty drinks and food are a tad overpriced. Went in today and the staff was not very nice. They have a sign on the outside and inside of the door for $1 off cold brews from 1-3 PM. The sign says it's for draft & bottles. I picked up two bottles of cold brew because of the happy hour and the staff did not want to give me the discount. They first claimed they didn't know what it was. Then they claimed it doesn't apply for bottles. Then they said the sign was old... even though they looked pretty fresh to me... Made me feel really uncomfortable. My husband and I came here for brunch on Saturday. There was a ton of parking on the street so we had no issue with that. My husband got the Vietnamese iced coffee with avocado toast. I had the horchata cold brew with goddess bowl. The Vietnamese iced coffee didn't have enough condensed milk in it for my husband and when he asked the guy that worked there if he could add some more he said no so he didn't love his drink. The avocado toast wasn't really toasted enough and there was barely any avocado on it. I really loved the horchata cold brew and would definitely get it again if we came back. The goddess bowl was just okay. The avocados were slightly under ripe so I probably wouldn't get it again. It's a great spot if you want to work since there's a lot of seating/tables. Overall we probably wouldn't come back just because everything else wasn't that great. read more

Only leaving one star in hopes action will be taken! This is my favorite cafe in the area but the bathroom is like the attic room in Hellraiser 1. "It's me, it's Frank..." It's much worse than other cafes and I don't know how the employees cope (unless they have their own loo). Some people might bitch but you have to change the code every day. Their chipotle aioli sauce is to die for. The combination of pickled onions, roasted potatoes and that aioli sauce, are what dreams are made of. Also, these are not some baby diet tacos. Coming here during these unprecedented times makes me wonder how even more amazing this place was before then. At the current state during my numerous visits, I was able to transport myself into a focus space to hone in on my Engineering work/day job thanks to the atmosphere that Groundwork Coffee Co. was able to cultivate. The workers here are kind hospitable human beings who are patient with their customers and take the time to fulfill all their requests/desires. They even look out for each other and other colleagues such as the security guard on duty. There is seating available on the inside and you need to show your vax card along with wearing a mask when not eating/drinking. There is an ample amount of seating on the outside and there are little green placards that are used to indicate if a space has been cleaned/is safe to use. The drinks that I've ordered have all been amazing. I think my favorite one so far is the Beehive Matcha drink. So good! What a NOHO gem! I can't believe it's taken me this long to drive er this Groundwork Coffee location. I used to frequent the Long Beach location before they shut down and I was missing their horchata cold brew. I'm so glad I decided to make the drive here. They have the cutest location, this coffee shop is tucked into an adorable train station near the metro. The space is large, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a great selection of breakfast options and drinks. The line can get long but we got lucky with no wait time! We ordered the horchata latte and the vanilla latte. We also tried their tacos and snack size burritos. The mini sized wraps are the perfect snack size. This would make a great place to get some work done since the indoor area is peaceful and relaxing. They do check for covid vaccines if you're planning to dine indoors (as of 3/8/21). I will definitely come back to try more of their menu items. read more
