I've been here only a handful of times. I do in fact think it's more of a atmosphere than a place to drink coffee. I remember finding it on a random drive and finding parking g near the park. It's a short walk to the shop. I remember stepping inside and feeling like wow this is incredible. The other times I tried to capture the memories from my first experience but they will never present again. I can't say I haven't been since early 2022 and now it's a year later and I'm popping off a review I dont know if my opinion is still valid. I say go here and snap some photos for your social media story for a day in LA. Maybe you'll find that this is your new coffee shop. The coffee stands out as one of the finest you will ever taste. Whether decaf or regular if it's Groundwork then you know you are going to experience a flavorful cup. The service at the main store has a helpful staff who go out of the way to be accommodating. The location while in an industrial area is welcoming and inviting. Fortunately, they have satellite stores throughout the city along with special local partners like Harvest Moon and Western Bagel. At home, I have a cup every morning. If you can't make it to the main store or its satellites , they are on the shelf at Gelson's , Whole Foods and other fine grocery establishments. read more

Dropped by before going to work! There's only meter parking, ranging from 1-3 hours, and I can see it being hard to park when it gets busy. They weren't open for indoor seating when I came, but there were a lot of shaded outdoor tables for your convenience :) No outlets from what I saw though. I got the horchata cold brew, and I thought the flavors were well-balanced, and it was really refreshing during these hot summer months. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but I loved groundwork's open & spacious space. It has both indoor and outdoor seating areas with plenty of tables. There are even outlets (indoors only) for people who want to get some work done. horchata cold brew: my friend said that the coffee flavor wasn't as strong as she liked, but as someone who likes sweeter drinks, I thought it tasted pretty good. It was a good mix of horchata and coffee for me, but if you're looking for a heavier coffee taste, this might not be the best option. At first glance, I would not have known this was ONE coffee shop. It it located in the most aestetically-pleasing place - right next to the train track. There are sooo many tables and space to sit and do work (I didn't stay, but I totally would have stayed if I brought my laptop). I was greeted by a very friendly cashier who happily answered my questions about the menu. I ordered a large iced latte and added their agave syrup - it literally lasted me the whole day. I didn't want to stop drinking it! The ONLY downside is finding parking here. There is street parking, but it's all metered parking and they're usually all taken, so expect to walk maybe a block or two! I parked across the street at the 30 minute metered parking just because I knew I was going to grab and coffee and go. Super cool that they repurposed an old train station into a coffee house. The vibes were really chill and casual. I liked the outdoor seating area with the wooden picnic tables. The Horchata Cold Brew sounded a lot better than it tasted. It was good, but very generic. I didn't get much Horchata spices; it just tasted like a sweet coffee beverage. read more

I go to the Valley every month or so because it has some of my favorite places, like Cupids Hot Dogs & the Iliad Bookstore for example. Well I need to add another to my list - Groundwork Coffee! This place is awesome! It's located in a converted 1890s train station next to the North Hollywood Metro. The inside is spacious with lots of seating for individuals or groups. We sat on the large outdoor covered patio which used to be the train platform. Again a variety of seating options from long wooden work benches to small cafe tables. As for the coffee itself I had a Red Eye and my friend had a Pour-Over Coffee which they make fresh from a selection of beans. It was deliciously smooth and flavorful. My Red Eye tasted great and gave me a nice jolt :) We also shared a slice each of Pumpkin and Banana Walnut Breads which were fresh, moist and filling. While fairly busy the atmosphere was very relaxing with what I thought was a great radio station playing but turned out to be a dj setup on the end of the platform. He was playing the perfect music for the mix of people hanging out or working. My only complaint, which is really too strong a word, is the parking. With no lot and only street parking it could be hard to find a spot when it's busy. But considering its location, where the Red Line & Orange Line connect, it's really there for the Metro riders and locals. PS.. Be sure to keep your receipt, it has the Wi-Fi password and restroom code at the bottom. This is a great idea that more business should include! read more

Fabulously smooth organic coffee! Tried their latte with oat milk and a cappuccino and both were perfect. We actually grabbed a second round for the road. I would skip the iced matcha latte, it was just okay. Multiple gluten free pastries and the blueberry and morning glory muffin were very good. Only item we weren't happy with was the breakfast burrito which were overloaded with potatoes and didn't have much else. Definitely stop in for coffee! read more

Got a large iced Vietnamese coffee along with a chocolate chip pumpkin bread. Both were delicious! The Vietnamese coffee tasted great and wasn't too sweet. The pumpkin bread was perfect: a big thick piece, dense, with chocolate chips and pumpkin seeds; really good flavor. It's a cute little place on the corner right by the bus station. Lots of seating outside overlooking the street. Parking kinda sucks, streets only, it seems. Only downside is that they're cashless, but prices are fair. read more

Los Angeles is home too many cute, trendy, and yummy coffee shops but Groundwork Coffee does a great job of standing out amongst the competition. The North Hollywood location is really charming because they have renovated an old train station into the restaurant. It offers plenty of outdoor and indoor seating for customers while they enjoy coffee, pastries, or yummy food. This location is especially great because of Mike (Tyler and I love you!) He is always friendly, smiling, and on top of our order. Couple of recommendations for the newbies out there: Horchata Cold Brew!! Avocado Toast!! Breakfast Tacos!! I go to this coffee shop maybe 3 times a week and I can't say anything bad about it! It is one of my favorites and they have some of my favorite drinks, treats, and breakfasts! I usually get their jasmine green ice tea and let me tell you, it's the BEST jasmine green I've ever had! I could drink it everyday if I could. I also occasionally get the vegan expressions milkshake and it is to die for! It is so super smooth and creamy for a vegan drink! Okay their breakfast burrito though... It is my favorite breakfast ever! It has lots of veggies, potatoes, and eggs wrapped in a delicious wheat tortilla. Sometimes I will get their pumpkin chocolate bread or their chocolate croissant and they are delicious as well! I don't think I've had any item here that wasn't delicious! I saw the photos of this place, read Mimi's review, bookmarked it, and went! Groundwork Coffee is a very cool place. It's located right next to the Northern Hollywood Metro station! This coffee shop looks like a train station - because it was a train station! We found free street parking since we went on a Sunday. We had to walk across the street and down the block for a restroom, so, when you go, plan accordingly. Inside, the barista did his best to do latte art. If you get a larger sized beverage in a mug, the art will turn out better. I was really thrilled with my "happy heart" latte art - even though it was in a smaller "to go" cup! I didn't know what a Mexican Mocha was, so I ordered it, wondering what would make a Mocha "Mexican"... mmm... it was a bit spicy. Haha! I drank it in spurts... getting the tastebuds back to normal in between small kine "pain"... lol! It was a fun experience! We sat indoors with a nice cross breeze flowing through the open doors. This is an updated review on groundwork coffee. I regretted reviewing this place the first time because this place is becoming too popular, to the point where I rarely find a seat in the afternoons like I used too. But the lack of seats avaliable means that this place is doing really well and I can see why. The drinks are really good. The drinks I reccomend are: Vanilla latte - this is not too sweet and strong, has the perfect amount of foam and even comes with latte art. Mocha - this is a little sweeter with elements of milk and dark chocolate? And of course coffee - which is also strong but overall its very smooth Viatnamese ice coffee - this is really sweet and very very very strong. I will guarantee that this will keep you awake (especially if you havent slept in over 24 hours) Cold brew - this one is also very strong but mildly sweet - this will also keep you awake. I like adding a splash of cashew milk. I still have yet to try the food but based on the samples I like the flax seed bread and the pumpkin one. If you wish to spend some time here the morning would be the best time due to the lack of people, but this still makes a good place to catch up with a friend and study. read more

Sadly learned that a barista misinformed me and the horchata cold brew is not vegan... so I drank it twice thinking it was vegan and it really upset me. I don't think there was malicious intent here on the barista behalf, just confusion. I wrote in asking if they might consider making a plant-based version and I was ignored. Even though they have good wifi and space to get work done, the uncertainity of a working restroom makes me not want to spend much time here. I have walked by this place for years as I made my way into the NoHo Red Line station. I finally went inside and the loft-like space is inviting for a cup of coffee or a meal.
