    Bonda

Here we ordered bonda, it is too much salt and it is not cooked inside. Food is not at all good here.

Saw the Sunday buffet menu and my palate was stimulated, so we went. There was no one, except for me and my company when we arrived but crowd slowly came in. They had a lot of selection for even non-meat eaters, although I was eyeing the lamb keema biryani, goat curry and natukodi curry. I found the goat curry a little salty, but my company said natukodi was the salty one. Other than that, the food was okay. I liked their onion pakora. They also had dessert on their buffet, and my favorite is the fruit custard. I did go back a few times for their mango lassi and tea. The staff were all nice. They do serve bottled water as part of the buffet.

We went in a large group of 15 ppl on Saturday evening around 7 15. Was surprised to see no one there except us We ordered some vegetarian and some non vegetarian dishes. Everyone was very excited about punugulu and we ordered 5 plates which was a lot and salt was a bit less. Baby corn manchurian was pretty decent. Chicken ghee roast was mind blowing. Chicken 65 was decent. Paneer gravy and Malabar roti was really yummy too. Both veg and chicken biryani were good.

My friends and I went to GumaGumalu after calling two other South Indian restaurants for idli and dosa (yes!! you would think that these are available however, both the places we called did not have this for an evening). We were pleasantly surprised with the service, the table hosts were very polite and nice, and they clarified every question we had about the menu. We ordered an Idli-vada- masala dosa combo (it came with peanut chutney, sweet green ginger chutney, and we requested for the masala to be placed on the side). It did not come with sambar. We also ordered a puri Choley combo - choley was really good!!! And lastly, we ordered Ragi Sankati with eggplant korma (the korma gravy has peanuts). For beverages, we ordered mango lassi and coffee (I asked for a strong coffee with less milk). The food was good, tasty. I made a tiny suggestion to the table host about the choice of chutney and she was very receptive with a smile, she appreciated feedback, and agreed that peanut allergies is something to be mindful about - more points earned right there for customer service!!! :)) The decor is functional, it's a clean place, and eating utensils are good and clean, service staff wear hairnets. Definitely give this place a try. P.S: they sell a variety of tasty pickles and snacks - we walked away with two tasty yummy pickles!

GumaGumalu is a South Indian restaurant that serves Raagi Sankati during the week in Fremont, CA. The menu is diverse, the food is flavorful, the prices are reasonable and the service is good. The place has a casual and comfortable ambiance which is great for a big group or family outing. The onion dosa was a good size and was served with 3 authentic chutneys but the onion was raw - I'd rate it a 7/10. The Andhra Chicken curry was flavorful but a bit salty which was the case for the raagi sankati as well. I'd rate both an 8.5/10. The nutella dosa wasn't really sweet but it wasn't really savory - it was unique but didn't taste great. I'd rate it a 5/10. There's also homemade sweets packed for a la carte purchase. Overall, this restaurant is clean and a good comfort Indian food spot. I'd go back again to try other things on the menu!

Went for buffet in weekend and the food was just awesome! Although there were extensive non-veg options, this review is about vegetarian options. 4 appetizers, 3 Veggie Curries, Rotis, 3 desserts, 3 rice options, raita, and yogurt with pappadum. We ordered their newly introduced Garlic Naan too, and it was amazing. All the vegetarian options were tasty. Samosa Chaat, Cabbage Pakoda, Aloo Bonda (reminds me of vada), Crispy Babycorn. Baigan Veggie, Vegetable Korma, Gongura Daal. Jackfruit rice, mint rice, and plain rice. Gulab Jamun, Custurd, and Laddu. Good ambiance and constant refilling items with server checking for used dishes on the table. Overall, I have a very good experience. I would recommend visiting the weekend buffet with family and friends.

I also quite liked the more normal sized burger that don't overfill you though I am sure most people would want them bigger. AMERICAN BURGER: Like a traditional American Cheese Burger, Beef Patty Seasoned with Freshly ground black pepper and salt. Meat was great and the bun was soft but it was a too soggy for us. BEEF CHEESE PARATHA COMBO: Stuffed with seasoned beef and melted cheese, grilled to crispy perfection. Very minimal beef and cheese was used. Tasted good with the yogurt and pickles but it there was so little ingredients I'm almost sure I would have liked the normal version more. 6 piece chicken wings: Well cooked and delicious, the "original" was a bit normal in flavor but I liked it dipped in their yogurt and their special sauce we asked for on the side.

My family and I, two adults and two young children, came here during Ramadan for iftaar. Before arriving, I specifically called ahead to ask whether we needed to come early because I understood restaurants can become very busy during iftaar time. I was told that arriving 10 to 15 minutes before iftaar would be perfectly fine and that our food would be ready around the time of breaking fast. Based on that reassurance, we came about 20 minutes before iftaar expecting a smooth experience. Instead, the moment we walked in, it felt like we were invisible. The restaurant was crowded but not chaotic. We sat down and waited while servers walked past us repeatedly without acknowledging us. Eventually, I had to flag someone down myself just to place an order. I even asked directly how long the food would take because we were fasting all day and had two small children with us. The server confidently assured us the food would arrive around iftaar time. That never happened. When iftaar finally arrived, all we received were dates and water. No appetizers, no main dishes, nothing. We continued waiting while table after table around us received their food. Meanwhile, our children became increasingly upset and hungry. Anyone with young kids knows that after a full day of fasting, asking them to wait another 20, 30, even 50 minutes is nearly impossible. Our kids were crying, exhausted, and confused as they watched other families eat while we sat there with empty plates. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of honesty and accountability. Every time we asked about our order, we were told, "It's coming soon." Then eventually the server disappeared entirely for nearly 20 minutes and avoided us altogether. A woman later approached us, but instead of apologizing or taking our concerns seriously, she became dismissive and defensive. By this point, nearly 50 minutes had passed since we ordered, and she still insisted we "shouldn't complain" (in Farsi) because the food would come "soon." That response was honestly more upsetting than the delay itself. A simple apology, honesty, or basic compassion toward a fasting family with small children would have gone a long way. We eventually left the restaurant feeling humiliated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. What saddened me most is that this happened during Ramadan, a month centered around patience, generosity, hospitality, and good character. In Afghan culture and Islamic ethics, guests are supposed to be treated with dignity and care, especially during iftaar. Halal is not only about the food being permissible. Halal is also about honesty, fairness, respect, and how people are treated. Sadly, this restaurant failed in all of those areas. We will never return, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service or a welcoming family environment.

Meal portions are very massive, which can probably feed more than one person. Pretty much all the items are good. My only concern is the Orange Chicken because it looses its texture and gets very slimy. In other words, coating falls apart. This would have been one of the best Chinese restaurants I would go for takeouts but they only have 2-3 weeks left before they permanently close it. I recommend supporting this restaurant by visiting and even trying their foods before their closure. Food is really good here.
