During my stay in Las Vegas, I needed some Korean soup because of all the greasy foods we were having in the hotel. The restaurant is inside a cute shopping area, I can't recall the name.... Town Square I believe? Watch out for street parking as we didn't see a pay meter and thought it was free parking. We only got a notice which was a relief. The server at the restaurant greeted us kindly and we were able to get sat right away. This was around noon on a Saturday. Went in with 4 people, we ordered about 6 people's worth of dishes and killed everything. Everything was so delicious!! We ordered the doenjangjjigae (asked for it spicy), a mookeunji kimchi jungol, 2 galbi tangs, and a yukgaejang. After living in Irvine, it was so refreshing to taste some authentic Korean food as the spots in Irvine cater more to Chinese taste to appease the larger population. The doenjangjjigae came out quite spicy and it just hit the spot! The lady cook in the kitchen looked a little concerned as it had quite the kick but I made sure to give her a thumbs up. I was way too hungry (and hungover) to take photos unfortunately but please - skip china town and go give this spot a try. We drove a bit further than we would've if we had eaten in Chinatown but it was so worth it. Next time we go back to LV for a stay, we will 100% be going back. read more

We visited Gung Chae again and had an enjoyable experience. The interior is on the small side, but it's never been too crowded anytime as have visited. It's clean and well-kept. Service is friendly, and we were checked on several times during the meal. We had some lychee highball cocktails which were flavorful but a bit on the weak side. We had the kimchee pancake which was tasty but was again a bit on the thicker side whereas I prefer a thinner and crisper pancake. I had the bulgogi bibimbap which still does not include an egg unless you pay extra. It was tasty and fresh, though. We also had the LA Kalbi which was very tasty but is actually quite expensive for a fairly small portion. Overall this is still a tasty choice for Korean food in Town Square. read more

The aged kimchi and pork rib hot pot was incredible. The kimchi was unbelievably tender and packed with flavor, and the pork was fall-off-the-bone tender. Easily the highlight of the meal. The chicken wings were okay. The sauce was a little overpowering, but honestly I kept going back to the hot pot. The potato side dish was also excellent, got a refill. Our party of 7 was seated at the high top table by the front. They provided four kinds of banchan that were tasty and do include free refills. * Grilled Pork Belly $23.99 - Served with a bowl of rice and typical condiments of raw garlic, jalapeños, ssamjang? and sesame oil. It was good, a little on the thinner side though. * Steamed Egg $12.99 - It was eaten up. * Beef Bulgogi Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap $20.99 - Although this was the Husband's dish, the Little Gal couldn't stop eating it and definitely wants more dolsot bibimbap in her life. * Clams Kalguksu $19.99 - This hot noodle dish was good, but the Little Guy didn't realize it was a bunch of little clams. In retrospect, he wished he got the beef version for more protein. Our friend got the Beef Bulgogi $23.99 and I guess it was his first time having it because he kept on raving about it and said it was so good. So, I guess that's a good thing! Have been to the Eastern location before as well as this one a while ago. We had came here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Was surprisingly decently busy, especially since they were short staffed to only 1 waiter. He did really well keeping up with everything. We got their lunch special (11a - 3p). We've tried their HOT STONE POT BIBIMBAP previously. In regards to timing (and price), we decided to get the normal BIBIMBAP (~$2/off from regular dinner? menu vs lunch) I had got the SPICY PORK whereas my friend had got the CHICKEN (SPICY) 4 banchan (side dishes) came out quickly consisting of fish cake, soy bean sprouts, kimchi, and a salad. Our food arrived 15 minutes later. For the first time, the rice was SEPARATE from the BIBIMBAP. Usually the rice is on the bottom of the bowl and all the toppings are placed on top. No matter. Added the rice. The gochujang sauce comes in a bottle so you can put as much as you want as well. After a thorough mixing, i realized this was a HUGE portion (way bigger than their stone pot version, unless portion size has changed on that one as well). Lots of bean sprouts, cucumber/zuchinni, carrots, lettuce, seaweed, fernbrake topped with the spicy pork. I was able to finish mine (barely) but my friend had about 1/2 left in hers, which she packed in a box. Last time the AC wasn't on so it was muggy, humid, and warm. We stopped through Vegas during a road trip, and lunch at Gung Chae was 100% worth it! We ordered the dolsot (hot stone) bibimbap, regular bibimbap, doenjang (soybean paste) stew, and hot bulgogi soup. Everything we ordered was fantastic - the palate is clean, nothing was oily or heavy. The food tasted authentic and flavorful; it's comparable to the restaurants in Koreatown Los Angeles. I'm so glad we found this place! I don't really have much experience eating Korean food and this place has a good variety. We came here for lunch and they have a nice lunch special menu. We came and ordered bulgogi bibimbap, cold noodles, and japchae. Along with corn silk tea and crushed pear punch. I really enjoyed everything except the cold noodles. Mind you I've never had cold noodles and wanted to try it for the first time here and I was disappointed. What won me over was their side dishes. The server would refill them whenever we're low and my favorite was the bean spouts and kimchi!! I love Veggie Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap ($17.99), it's very filling and delicious! They give a good portion, served in a hot stone pot with sizzling rice, topped with assorted veggies like shredded carrots, white radish, lettuce, bean sprouts, nori seaweed, and fried sunny egg, very healthy and nutritious. It's a nice meal and comes with complimentary banchan which include side salad with tasty dressing, savory fish cake and carrot slice, fresh crunchy kimchi, and tangy cucumber salad, all are very good and really adds to the deliciousness of Bibimbap. Also had Tuna Mayo Kimbap ($10.99), portion is plentiful and yummy! For refreshments, they have a nice selection of drinks including soju, beer, wine, non-alcoholic signature cocktail, soda, and Korean punch. Luckily, it was during lunch time and some dishes were cheaper than regular. We got the hot stone bibimbap with spicy pork and the Yubu kimbap! We ordered the Yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), Soon Tofu Soup, Naengmyeon (Korean cold noodles), and steamed egg--every dish was flavorful, comforting, and perfectly prepared. What really stood out was the service. The waitresses and staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. They've only been open for about a year, so not many people seem to know about them yet. That's likely to change once word gets out.
