Classic buffalo wings with ranch sauce

My boyfriend and I were looking for dinner at Foxwoods when we spotted Guy Fieri's Kitchen & Bar and had to give it a try. We were quoted a 30-minute wait, but after waiting over an hour (and not hearing back from the host), we decided to order at the bar instead. Honestly, that ended up being the best decision because the bar staff were fantastic, checking in on us often, and the place was so packed. We ordered the classic buffalo wings, hot honey wings with blue-sabi sauce, Cajun chicken Alfredo, bacon Mac-n-cheese burger, plus drinks: the watermelon lime ricky and caliente margarita. The wings were good but nothing memorable. I loved the idea of the blue-sabi sauce, but I wish the wasabi flavor packed more of a punch. The burger was a little dry, could not taste much of the donkey sauce, but the Mac and cheese on it was delicious. The star of the meal was definitely the Cajun chicken Alfredo. It was packed with seasoning, the chicken was juicy, and it ended up being one of my favorites during my trip. The cocktails were good too. I'd definitely come back for the Alfredo and to try the other drinks. Hopefully next time the wait and communication from the restaurant are a little better. Would definitely recommend grabbing a seat at the bar and ordering if there's a long wait. -Cris

Al was our server, he was informative and attentive, our appetizer came out super quick and our entrees came out as soon as we were finished with the appetizer. Food was delish. I was nervous at first bc there was only steps to get in but there was a secret door with a ramp for people with mobility issues or people with strollers. It was so much bigger in the inside than I expected and it was all windows so it was bright and cheery. Overall a great experience. We will be back

Good spot at Foxwoods, especially for families, but I'm coming back without a kid next time! Nothing super standout for a lunch spot, but still had some sparkle. Came here for a kid's birthday dinner and was pleasantly surprised from start to finish. We paid the upcharge for the birthday sundae, and at $25, it was honestly a steal compared to places like Sugar Factory. The presentation made the kid happy, which is all that matters. Food: I ordered the kid's steak, and let me tell you, the portion was no joke. Plenty of food, cooked well, and super kid-friendly. The fries were the real standout: three different types of fries in one basket. Fry-lovers, this is your moment. I got the chili and cornbread for myself. The chili was solid and comforting. The cornbread was just okay, but you could tell it wasn't the freshest batch. Drinks: I only ordered a Diet Coke, so I can't speak on the cocktails, but the menu looked fun enough that I made a mental note to come back and try a few when I'm not in full "birthday chaperone" mode. Ambiance & Service: Ambiance was great for a lunch crowd, kind of lively but not chaotic. Our server was fantastic, friendly, and attentive without hovering. Everything felt organized and smooth, even with a big kid in tow. Bottom line: This is officially on my list of places to come back to at the casino when I'm not with a kid. The menu has enough variety that I'd happily return just to try more dishes. Good food, good service, and a surprisingly easy spot for a birthday lunch at Foxwoods.

I came solo on a weekend day to catch a quick lunch. I sat at the bar and was quickly served my drinks. I ordered the veggie burger and house fries. The fries were perfectly fried and a fun mixture of French and waffle fries. Seasoned well. The veggie burger was plentiful and flavorful. A bit mushy on the veggie Pattie but that is expected for a meatless patty. The restaurant seating has a nice view of the gambling floor. It is well lit and a fun atmosphere . Price wise, it's on the high side, but for a casino restaurant it is reasonable. The menu is chock full of heavy comfort food. Besides salads it's hard to find healthy options - but they are open to menu tweaks to satisfy needs. Definitely a place to check out!

Salmon protein bowl is a no go Soggy warm lettuce over plain mushy rice and salmon cook to a char. I asked to refire it and was sold a salmon under cook definitely not a place in a fancy casino

Guy Fieri's... This is one of those restaurants where it seems like it's just another American cuisine restaurants. Or you might think this is just another burger joint. But no, that's where you're wrong... Guy's offer a wide variety of options such as burgers, salads, and his famous Trash Can Nachos which were amazing. The service is exceptionaly well with very kind servers and great hosts. Since it's in Foxwoods casino, his goal while building it was to keep the Native American vibe while also adding a touch of classic American decor. I would most definitely recommend Guy Fieri's Foxwoods kitchen and grill.

Came to try this spot while at the casino resort. I've watched nearly all the episodes and tried many of the places from it so I thought it'd be cool to try Guys signature restaurant. Unfortunately. It wasn't all it's cracked up to be. The food was middle of the road in taste and variety but expensive. The server was quirky but provided decent service, the vibe was loud and less than pleasurable. I don't think it's worth what you pay for this spot. You can have a better experience for less money and better food.

We went for lunch on a Saturday and everything was perfect. I had the chicken sandwich that was bursting with flavor, fries that were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The buffalo chicken egg rolls are a must. The biggest compliment I can give was how cold the beer was. Absolutely awesome!

I expected more from my meal, the pulled pork was dry and no seasoning. The French fries were delicious. The salad wasn't anything special .... Just a salad. The staff was very pleasant.

    THE BIG GUY

Front desk was snobby and rude, like we were shit on her shoe. Service was awful; waitresses were rude and sharp with us. Nachos were really nice. The buffalo egg rolls were ugh--okay, not much filling. The burgers--well, a McDonald's Big Mac has more flavour and seasoning. All in all, for a bill that was nearly $200 for two of us, fast food would have been money better spent. I gave it one star because of the service, but also because for the amount of money charged, the food has to be better than this.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at Guy's despite the hostess not looking happy to see us. It was not a good first impression. The wait staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to offer good customer service. We started with the Buffalo Cauliflower. It was tasty and a little crispy in a good way. The star of the show was the steak and cheese sandwich in a pretzel bun. So good! We also tried the signature bbq chicken tenders topped with onion straws. We enjoyed them also. On a side note, they were great for leftovers the next day!

Good service but the cocktails and food were disappointing. Not worth the money. This is why Fieri doesn't compete on the network.

Prices are reasonable but the food...the food is OVER THE TOP!!! I've been back 4-5 times since being introduced to it and I already have a fav - a sautéd shrimp bowl, hold the rice, double both the crack-n-cheese and sweet potatoes!!! The shrimp are HUGE & slathered in garlic butter! There's nothing wrong with the rice, but I'd rather fill-up on the crack (Mac) and sweets, both of which are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The service borders on brown sugar sweet, the food comes up fast so you're not kept waiting. Their food comes up in paper bowls with a clear plastic top so you can see exactly what you're getting while maintaining 75-85% recyclability!!! All in all, they've earned (& continue to earn) my highest marks. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!! One foot note: Because all their food is made fresh daily, when if something runs out, it's out for that day. So, if you want to have dinner and you're coming by 15 minutes before closing, you might want to call ahead and see if they're out of anything you're jones-ing for!!!

I later found out they have other locations as well. When I arrived, I noticed this is more of a grab-and-go spot. There is no seating area for dining in, just a small waiting area with a couple of chairs. Parking is street parking, so keep that in mind when stopping by. I ordered in person, and I have to say the service was quick! Within about seven minutes, my food was ready. As soon as you walk in, you can see the menu and even see the kitchen area, which I always appreciate because you can get a feel for how your food is being prepared. The employee who greeted me was very friendly and welcoming. You can also order online. I ordered the seasoned rice, shrimp, mac & cheese, and collard greens bowl. First impression... the bowl looked beautiful and was put together very nicely. Everything looked fresh and appetizing. The shrimp was sautéed in a garlic sauce and had great flavor. The mac & cheese was definitely a highlight, very cheesy! When I put my fork into it, the cheese stretched and expanded the way you hope a good mac & cheese will. The collard greens were good, although I'll be honest, I've had better. They still complemented the bowl and added that classic soul food feel. At first glance, I thought, "Is this going to be enough?" But after eating it, I was completely satisfied and full. The portion was actually just right. The price was reasonable and within the range of what many restaurants are charging today. What makes this place stand out to me is that it tastes homemade and I love fresh food made with care. My only suggestion: PLEASE consider adding cornbread to the menu (hopefully soon ). A piece of cornbread would complete this bowl meal perfectly! Overall, I would definitely recommend Soul Bowl's. Great flavors, quick service, friendly staff, and that homemade comfort-food feeling. I'm already curious to try more from their menu! What should I try next?

On a visit to Mystic, I could not wait to find a restaurant that served more seafood than I could easily settle on. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. For our main course we had the halibut steak that was sitting on top of freshly mashed potatoes with a smattering of fresh corn kernels. The customer service attendants were mindful of their tables and visited at opportune times. -Not when you start to take a bite and never did we wonder where they might have gone off to. They seated us right away! I love the vibes of the place, it's beautiful and inviting, but not pretentious. Our waitress was the best. She knew it was our anniversary and gave us a little bubbly to toast to. We also made it for happy hour (5 pm - 6 pm on weekdays, and 5 pm - 6 pm on weekends only at the bar)! All the small plates on the left side of the menu were half off! We immediately ordered drinks (the $10 happy hour cocktail - a blackberry bourbon smash for my husband, and a mocktail for me). We then ordered the shishito peppers, 2 of the pickled beet deviled eggs, and the roasted oysters with chili oil. They came out super fast, and it was delicious. The shishitos had that great char flavor along with a great dipping sauce. You can never go wrong with deviled eggs. Then we decided to order the fried oysters and the bread with corn butter. The fried oysters were the star of the small plates. Cooked so well. Freshly fried, you bite into it and it was juicy and delicious on the inside. Just so good. The bread and butter? Ugh, my dream butter and bread. Just so delicious. The butter was slightly sweet from the corn and had flakes of sea salt on tip, making it the perfect sweet and salty combo. We also got the salad (local produce!), and our waitress knew we were sharing ao she had the kitchen put it on 2 plates. Such a great touch. The salad was fantastic. After eating lobster rolls for a day, this was a much needed salad. It was refreshing, bright, and light! For our main entrees, we got the seared local squid and the strip steak. It was INCREDIBLE. Everything had so much flavor. The squid was cooked well, wasnt chewy. Just delicious. The crispy rice was the BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN. I wish we could order bowls of it. My husband finished it, couldn't get enough of it. The steak was fantastic as well. The potato with the bearnise sauce was so dreamy. The little onions on the steak, all the little touches were so well done. We knew we had to get dessert. We got a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream, a scoop of corn and blueberry swirl ice cream, and the lavender honey panna cotta. Guys. You 100% must get dessert. The corn blueberry ice cream was unreal. I dont know how you get all that flavor into ice cream. They dont skimp on the honey on the panna cotta. And it went so well with the more mild panna cotta. The black raspberry was a little icy because they froze whole blackberries in it, but at least you know they were trying to make sure you got blackberries in there. With happy hour, the bill wasn't too bad. This was hands down our favorite meal of our week long road trip. I can't wait to come back. I would 100% make a detour to eat here. Parking is pretty difficult around here. I would probably just Uber if I was coming here on a weekend. I need to come here for breakfast at some point.

My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

So, uh....Junior's Restaurant & Bakery (not to be confused with Junior's Coffee Bakery just outside…read morethe lobby) is a casual sit-down dining experience which seems to emulate a decor crossing between Denny's and Whataburger. I realize I'm probably the only one who will ever make that comparison, but I'm sticking with it. Picture cozy booths but with the color orange. I think it's also safe to assume the majority of folks come here for breakfast. Ergo, that's what I'll be reviewing today. The menu is what you'd expect. On this day, I was in the mood for an omelet. Small caveat upfront for anyone with the faint of stomach: their omelets are composed of 4...possibly 5 eggs! On top of that, they STILL allow you to order one with an extra egg, if you wish. Crazy! :o I played it safe and went with a standard ham & [cheddar] cheese omelet. And like....here's the thing: proper omelet etiquette calls for shredded cheese, regardless of what type. The reason for this is so that when you fork your way in for a bite, the cheese doesn't stretch on for ages like one continuous string that won't quit until you chop it off with a knife (or perhaps a machete). What I suspect they did was either used long strips of cheddar or (perish the thought) stuck a couple of whole cheddar slices into the omelet and called it a day. Needless to say, it makes the whole eating experience hella awkward. Taste wise, it wasn't bad at all; though, it could have benefited from a bit of seasoning. 8 out of 10, be sure to enjoy with a knife. The sides were...fine. Honestly, the homefries and corned beef hash (which we'll talk about in a sec) were arguably among the best. Whereas that toast...*sigh*. Guys. Why are restaurants so petrified of copiously buttering toast? Shoot! I'll even settle for quasi-copiously buttering. Now, one reviewer claimed the corned beef hash (which is made fresh) suspiciously tasted of the canned variety. And honestly....I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing. See, I have this thing with homemade hash. Most of the renditions I've tried consist more of a brisket type textured corned beef; which either tastes over seasoned (I can't even believe I'M saying that) or seasoned strangely. For instance, the homemade hash I tried up at the Market Place Diner in Hollis, NH tasted like ranch for some reason. But, I digress. This hash was more of a minced meat texture that had a bit of subtlety to its flavoring which I can appreciate. Unfortunately, the side (which is over 10 bucks, btw) is not meant for one person. This portion could easily serve 2...maybe 3 persons. Eh, far as homemade versions go, 9 out of 10. And of course, the Mimosa was heavenly. Wanna know what really surprised us though? The coffee. I honestly thought we were about to be presented yet another pathetically weak breakfast blend most diners serve. But no--this coffee was bold in a way that would make even the likes of the Starbucks CEO go, "Jolly good cup o' java, ol' chap!" Service was sublime. My only other minor complaint is...the pricing. But really, it's to be expected of a restaurant that operates in conjunction with a resort. I guess I expected like, a near fine dining level of breakfast food for such prices. On the plus side, those $16 Mimosas include the entire small bottle of champagne. You just gotta ask for a little more OJ after your first glass. Weird. It's an innocuous little joint I wouldn't mind dining at upon future stays. Albeit a little pretentiously priced, I'm giving Junior's Restaurant and Bakery at Foxwoods 4 of the hugest fluffy ham & cheese omelets out of 5.

So I asked her kindly if we could be placed at another table that didn't have sun. She had huffed and gave an annoyed looked. But, did change our table. I had told our waitress about it and we got an apology from the manager. Next we ordered the bacon Swiss burger and the pastrami Swiss burger. Omg so delicious and juicy. The pastrami was so flavorful. The burger was seasoned and you can still taste the freshness from the beef. It was a good lunch and that made up for the rude attitude in the beginning with the hostess.

This is a small eatery (I counted max 39 seats between tables and the bar) with difficult parking…read more I was able to get a spot right in front b because I went to lunch, but the parking lot has signs saying it is for employees of the wood shop next door, and no trespassing in the lot across the street, so I think street parking is the only option? Service is great, very attentive and friendly. The food is what earns this three stars. I tried a stuffie, German onion soup, a Farmhouse burger, and a key lime Mason jar. The stuffie was a little small, and most of the flavor was imparted by the ham and the squeeze of lemon. The German onion soup, I'm not sure why it was German except to not be French? Outside the name difference, the onions were way too large, and there was a total lack of flavor going on in the soup. The crock was very large too. The burger and fries looked pretty good, and I enjoyed the flavors here. The fries were rough hewn, so there was good crispness from all the edges. The toppings of the burger, and the bun, were also hearty. Unfortunately, my medium rare burger was more like raw meat with surface browning. I'm a big fan of rare steak, but ground beef needs a little more cooking. Also, the house made ketchup is really more of a marinara sauce. If I'd ended up eating more of my plate before they took it away to re-fire the burger, I would have asked to replace the ketchup. The key lime Mason jar was e everything you want to wrap up a meal. Great flavor, lightness, citrus. I did have to bring most of it home but, unlike the burger they brought back in a box, I'm excited to get back into the key lime. From an accessibility stand point, there is no ramp to get in nor handicap parking, so the evidently don't want your business. Once you're in, there are some seats you could get in, but if this place were full it would be difficult to navigate for anyone. The bathroom is a single room, but very spacious and nice. So, mixed bag for access. Your mileage may vary, but I'm not racing to return.
