The fries were good, nice and crisp but the onion rings looked delish...will try next time. I know that they just opened at the Pasadena location, but their customer service is on point. I am in love with the veggie burger from The Habit!!!! My friends think I am crazy because their meat is delicious as well. There is something about this veggie burger that is just yummy. First of all, most veggie patties from regular burger places tend to be on the dry side, this one is moist, it also has cucumber, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and honeymustard. I get it without cheese to save some calories, I also put mustard on it and it is a guilt free burger. I recommend it all the way. I have also tried the mushroom swiss burger, great burger for $5.00. There are now so many hamburger restaurants to choose from that you really have to decide what kind of taste you are looking for. The Habit is a franchise that started in, I think, Ventura County and spread like wild fire. Their burgers are clean tasting and not oily like some. With that said, I am impressed that they sponsor the "No Kid Left Hungry" program, which is really important, with the demise of the universal family. Their burgers are served fresh and a pager tells you when it's ready to be picked up. The fries are okay, but have ranch dressing for free for dipping, a plus in my book! Overall, I think the Habit makes a decent burger, but can not compare in many ways with in and out, which seems to have a more cheesy taste in a good way. I do believe the burgers are charbroiled, but could be wrong, as I did not taste a strong burnt taste like many char-broiled burgers. I was craving for a burger and wanted to try something new so I wandered into Habit Burger. It's a fairly new location on Rosemead right behind the Wells Fargo in Foothill. I definitely was not disappointed. I opted for the cheeseburger and onion rings. The cheeseburger was good and the ingredients are very fresh. The meat was moist and juicy. The best part, however, was the onion rings. They have one of the best onion rings I've ever had. It was breaded perfectly and the onion was perfectly cooked. My favorite combo lately is the Albacore Tuna Filet on Sourdough bread (hold the tartar sauce) with Tempura Green Beans. First and foremost, I'm a huge fan of the food that they serve here. The chicken sandwiches are great and the fries are amazing. This particular location is usually my go-to fast food when I take my lunch break from work. So, again, I'm a huge fan of The Habit. Why the 1 Star rating you ask? Well, I picked up food for my entire office recently and one of the orange slices that they serve with your sandwiches had mold. And out of all the orange slices, it had to be the one in my boss' order. I was the one who suggested The Habit for lunch so I'm extremely embarrassed at this point. She calls me over to her office and asks me to return her order and have it replaced. I head over to the restaurant and go straight to the counter where they serve the orders. I show the orange slice to a gentleman in a blue shirt (didn't catch his name, but he had a tattoo on his right arm and hair combed to the side) and he tells me that it isn't mold. I replied, "well, would you eat that?" He proceeded by saying, "well, the orange slices aren't there for you to eat. They're just there for display to go along with your sandwich." How idiotic for him to say that! I personally eat the orange slices all the time. I had no idea that it was there for "display". I'm irritated at this point and just wanted to get the heck out of there. I asked them to make me a new sandwich and left as soon as it was done. I'm not saying that whatever was on the orange slice meant the end of the world, but it was the way they handled the situation. The Habit is a very decent burger place if you compare it to other fast food restaurants such as Burger King or Wendy's. It's solidly in the Carl's Junior category of fast food. Their burgers are very decent. They aren't incredible but for the inexpensive price you really can't complain. These are not gourmet burgers but solid middle of the pack burgers. The fries are either the thick cut regular fries or the sweet potato fries, depending on your taste. My friend ordered the chicken sandwich. The bread was buttery like a panini and it had rich cheese to boot. I had a bite and that was a 4 star sandwich and I would highly recommend it. The staff is super friendly and even cleared the table for us when we were finished and talking. I wish that I could have given it 4 star, but I really couldn't based on the burger and fries alone. PROS -very big. you can bring your family :) -doesn't seem that crowded -if you complain about something, they will fix it right away -food does tastes good (although it can be made at home) -fries are fresh and more healthier than those of In-N-Out CONS -at times their food may not be looking the best or has the biggest portions. it really depends which chef you get -the shades don't cover any sunlight (i have a bad skin reaction towards long exposure of sun so this bothers me a lot) I would recommend this place. I heard about this place from a friend who told me it was better than In N out. I dont trust him because he's an idiot sometimes, doesn't drink beer and does not eat turkey on thanksgiving - weird. I would never get to test his opinion until the Habit opened up in Pasadena, replacing the old and bland Boston Market. So when I got to the counter, I was kind of excited but a bit skeptical. The menu is very small, kind of like In N out, with not many choices. I honestly dont like too many choices, so that was fine with me. I ordered the Char Grill Burger (no sauce) with a side of sweet potatoes. Burger was delicious, reminded me of one of my brother in laws burgers off his BBQ grill during the summer. Meat was juicy and enjoyed the pickles on it. Fries were ok, though in hindsight should of ordered just the regular. So good place, which does give my In N out a run for its money or may tie. Feb. 8, 2017 This location can never get my order right. Ordered a Charburger kids meal and the associate #1503 Drawer 3 @ 8:38PM messed up our order. I asked for sourdough bread and she didn't even note it in the order. She was too busy rushing to get our order in the system by asking me the next thing I wanted. That isn't important when I'm still telling what I would like in my sandwich. Anyone daring to eat at The Habit, make sure to EXPLICITYLY state what you do not want on your sandwich. It's just pathetic that a burger can't be made right. Save your money and aggravation by cooking your meal at home. Don't patronize this pathetic establishment!!! All they care about is taking your money. Customer service is non-existent. The service model needs to be reevaluated to ensure that you are actually offering quality customer service to your customers. Being quick doesn't equate to providing quality customer service. The service here is usually good. However, the service seemed annoyed when I asked to have lettuce added to my burger. The associate literally threw my burger back on the tray. Then I realized my whole order was wrong as I sat to eat because it wasn't on sourdough bread as I had requested. My most recent experience was not good at all, even with management (corporate) I ordered a meal to go for my son, my boyfriend and myself. I haven't ate cow or pig in 15 years so as usual I order a grilled chicken sandwich...I got home all excited to enjoy my chicken sandwich only to find MEAT ....Hamburger meat!!!! In my chicken sandwich. Being that I do not eat cow I passed my chicken sandwich to another family member and ate only my fries and onion ring. I was pissed so I called the habit and expressed my complaint...they said they would let the manager know, but I got no call back. The next day still no call back so I called them again and left another message with someone else about my experience. The girl said a manager would call me ....finally later in the evening Tom called me ...I let him know what had occurred and for some reason he was questioning everything I was telling him..."what order number were you?" "What does the receipt say" LOOK DUDE WHY DOES ANY OF THAT MATTER!!! YOUR COMPANY..COOK, WHOEVER MESSED UP!!!! So I had to search for my receipt and read to him word for word what my receipt said ...which at the end of the day does not matter because there is nooooo way hamburger meat goes on a chicken sandwich especially that is for sure not what I ordered. I felt insulted that he would even be asking me a million questions about an error they made!!! So Tom said he was going to send me something..few days later I get a letter with 2 free hamburger vouchers!!!!!!! Ummmm are you kidding me??? You heard not one word I said about I don't eat Cow???? And not only that I ended up losing out because when I went to redeem my voucher It was only good for like $5 and the chicken sandwich is $6 and some change!!! Okay, with The Habit popping up everywhere, I had to make my way over one night. There is ample parking as it's in a plaza shared by many other businesses and the restaurant itself is well sized. I got a #1 combo - the charburger with everything, upgraded to sweet potato fries & got a medium sized drink. It didn't take long to find a seat nor did it take long to get my food. The burger was good, but since I used In-n-Out as my burger marker... it still is not as great. However, it has great flavor to it and is not that badly priced (entire meal was ~$8). The sweet potato fries were good - although not as crisp as some places. However, I really like that and enjoyed eating them - but others may not. The real surprise came when my friend and I (outlived) our stay... and after 2 hours of sitting one of the workers asked me if I wanted a refill on my drink. However, I didn't find it that special. This place is a seat-yourself / self-service restaurant. There is some service, though, as they come around to clear your trays and offer to refill your drinks. Prices aren't bad at all. $5.95 for the Original Charburger combo which comes with fries and a drink. Or you can also get the more special burgers such as the tri-tip steak burger for $5.95 and add fries and a drink for less than $10. I didn't find the food all that spectacular, though. I tried the charburger and it tasted kind of like a Famous Star. The fries weren't as good as in n out fries but they weren't bad either. And the tri tip steak burger probably could have been better, as I found myself dragging out slabs of meat from my burger (cooked to medium, by the way) since I wasn't able to bite through it. This included a char burger combo and a bacon and cheeseburger single. I like that everything is made to order like at In-N-Out. I had the char burger without mayonnaise. First time taking my girlfriend here to my favorite burger joint and first thing she sees are workers handling burgers with their bare hands. Pretty bad first impression.. I tried to convince her that their hands are probably clean, but after seeing them handle receipts and wipe their greasy noses with their hands, I'm convinced that this joint has lowered its standards with serving quality burgers to customers. I've tried the cheeseburger at the Santa Barbara location and thought it was pretty good. We were in the area and my sister was craving Habit so we caved in and shared a Teriyaki Burger. It was so yummy and tasty! Imagine a buttered toasted warm bun with good size meat patty with a sweet grilled pineapple slice, melted gooey swiss cheese, and teriyaki sauce. This was super yummy. The flavor was amazing in my mouth and definitely one of the best burgers I've had. You have to try this burger. Eat it as soon as you get it. One star seems harsh, but EEK! METHINKS NOT fits the bill. I had somehow never heard of this chain until a post in the Huff listed it is as one of the nation's best burgers. I saw they offered a veggie burger for my partner in crime and got excited: finally a burger joint for us both. I looked at the menu and got even more excited: it has the menu IN AND OUT should. So finally we tried it last night. The location was okay and they had a cool feature where most of the 'fat/grease' smell was piped right out of the restaurant. How does a meat eater test such a joint? Where it counts: they're basic double char burger, with fries, and a drink. The price was right. The food... wasn't. French fries are either addictive or not. It's a no brainer for most burger spots -- and yet these fries were chewy. Likely frozen, which isn't a sin (The Hat is frozen and their fries rule), but these just weren't good. The burger itself was also chewy (over-cooked) and the roll was stale. The stale roll wasn't a fluke if you read reviews below mine. The overall taste was underwhelming and bland. I looked at my partner crime, and once again had to proclaim that between IN AND OUT, THE HAT, UMAMI, and now THE HABIT... my favorite double burger was -- -- the Super Star from Carl's Jr. I know, that sounds ridiculous, but I'm not kidding. It has that same manufactured taste that BK does. I'd guess if you are a fan of Burger King, you will love The Habit. It wasn't 'inedible' and the toppings were fine - but I couldn't get over that Burger King taste to the meat. Eats: Double Char lettuce wrapped. I've eaten here before and tried the other favorites such as the Mushroom Swiss Char, Sweet Potato Fries, and Onion Rings. It was the Monday lunch hour and the place was pretty occupied but not crowded by any means. The Double Char lettuce wrap was a solid 4 star with good flavor from the beef, and a balanced flavor pairing between the grilled onions and American cheese. My lettuce wrap could also be eaten by hand versus fork and spoon, which means the chef made sure that I could hold it up like a burger without all the contents leaking everywhere. It could have probably have the added flavor benefit from a sauce (think special spread from other chains), besides the standard mayo, but it was still tasty. So why did this place get 5 stars instead of 4? Customer service. At the conclusion of my meal, Employee Yari came by and offered to throw away my tray. She asked how the food was and I responded that it was great and went down pretty fast (I got a lettuce wrap). Rightfully so, she interpreted this as I wasn't satisfied with my meal. She promptly offered to bring me another burger to see if I could be more satisfied. I did not take that offer because my stomach was done for the meal, but just to see this type of customer service helps you believe that the employees truly care about their customers' experience at The Habit. Definitely a solid burger grill! I didn't order a burger myself, but instead opted for the chicken cobb. My salad was excellent, considering this place specializes in burgers. The grilled chicken was warm, juicy and plentiful. The salad and avocado was fresh and the honey dijon salad dressing that they gave me on the side was tasty and big enough for me to use on my salad and as dipping sauce for my sweet potato fries! loved it! There's definitely a High school near by because there was A LOT of HS students eating there, so lunch time would probably be crowded.
