Service: I came here for my birthday for a group of 10 people. This was also my first time eating at haidilao. I loved the service--they were nice for decorating the table with a birthday decoration and sang happy birthday. Also as soon as you walk in to the waiting area there's an option to eat spring rolls, little Chinese snacks, and drink a variety of drinks. Plus there's even a few games out to play while you wait. Ambiance: Modern, clean, and luxurious. Like the BATHROOM has a Dyson hair dryer, hand scrub and lotion at the sink, and even heated toilet seats and bidet. The seating area was tight for 10 people and it was bustling even on a Sunday night at 9pm--I really recommend getting a reservation. In some ways, it's nice if you like an intimate space. But if you have a big party, I recommend requesting if you potentially get a bigger table/private room. It seems like most seating spaces were smaller (5-6 ppl). Food: I did not do ayce but I paid for each dish. Here are the highlights: Pork bone broth (5/5) - flavorful and even has actual pork bone in it Tom yum broth (5/5) - so good The Kobe beef is 5/5. It's soft and melts in you mouth Angus beef is 5/5 cheaper and less marbling than Kobe but easier to cook and still very tasty. Noodles, tofu skin, fishballs are standard. It is overpriced. If these types of hot pot ingredients are your favorite, you should go to Spring Shabu Shabu instead since they have this for AYCE. After a 4 hour delay on my flight on a rainy day, I was craving hot pot so decided to come here solo. By the time I got here from the airport it was already 1 am. Since I'm dining by myself, they gave me a buddy to keep me company. My first thought was that it was surprisingly busy at that time. My second thought was that so much in Haidilao has changed since I last ate here several years ago. One of the biggest changes is something called Meat O'Clock (though only after 9 pm on weekdays). For 90 minutes, you can choose unlimited servings for 5 kinds of meat (fatty beef, lamb, spicy pickled chicken, fish fillet, and shrimp). I didn't order the shrimp since I wasn't sure if they needed to be peeled, but I loved the other 4 items especially with my tomato broth. I think this was also the first time I ordered chicken for hot pot and the chicken was also really flavorful. Another change is the unlimited chicken nuggets. I've heard a lot about Haidilao given it's a super famous hot pot chain in Asia. I'm glad I was finally able to go to the Flushing location with some friends. We had a reservation at 630pm but it seemed like you could probably walk in easily. They have teas in the waiting area for you as well. It's a BIG space once you're inside. We got four different levels of spice for our hot pot. Be warned, the three chili pepper level is pretty spicy but also sooo flavorful. You order everything via an iPad which is super convenient. It has all the meats and veggies like other hot pot places and some very interesting meat cuts I'm not familiar with. It's a bit pricy so keep track of your tab. I think we ended up spending around $60 per person which isn't bad at all. The fatty beef strips were DELISH .. I think I had three orders myself. The sauce bar is also connected to the dessert bar so you're free to make your own jelly dessert too. Plus there's some free shrimp crackers and chicken nuggets if you like. AND free ice cream after your meal - I got the mango and matcha swirl. They also have a variety of staff engagement. Birthday songs are common at any establishment but be prepared if you order the dancing noodles ... That's all I'll say! Also there was an impromptu peking opera style quick-change mask performance while we were there which was fun to watch. A man was also carting around watermelon juice in these cute watermelon jugs/vases which you could keep if you sign up for their free loyalty membership. Amazing service with a wonderful waiter who treated us like VIP guests. It was my first time there, and he even made my sauce for me. Celebrated a friend's birthday yesterday as a big group of 10. Some were newer to hotpot like my husband and I being our only second time ever, we're more of korean bbq or Thai food afficionados. That being said, I've heard of Haidilao's reputation so certainly wanted to try. There's a big paid parking lot next to the building that you can scan a QR code and pay online, paid $15+ for almost 3 hrs. Food was okay. Friends who were regulars ordered the mushroom broth, pork bone broth, spicy broth, and mala spicy. And every possible meat and vegetable. The seasoning and appetizer sections had multiple optionals and you can get egg rolls and unlimited rice, comes with respective fees of course. Hotpot as an activity is enjoyable as it's meant to be social. Service was also great, staff were attentive. Never had to flag for water, regularly refilling and checking what needs clearing or adding more broth as needed. Our group had brought a birthday cake and they brought out a knife and plates and forks for it plus a speaker for the birthday song! Was fun! Some of us also wanted ice cream cones for the soft swerve and when we asked for 8, they brought it to the table. Note: they might try to get the actual ice creams for you so just nicely tell them that you only need the cones and will get the soft serve yourselves. I particularly liked the vanilla flavor. Truly the best, unique hot pot experience- we were each given an apron, a burlap sack for our belongings & was offered hair ties. Our waiter, Hu Yifei, was very friendly, attentive and absolutely amazing. Also, the restroom had Toto toilets, seat covers, baby diapers, maxi pads, hand lotion & toiletries from what I remember. As for the food, we got the spicy and non-spicy pork bone soup base- they were flavorful, the meats looked fresh and the side dishes- fried mantou buns, Sichuan crispy pork & the flying banana pancake were all pretty good. However, the desserts from the seasoning buffet were underwhelming & there weren't many sauce options to choose from ($3 per person). Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere (albeit gimmicky at times) food and service were good, nothing wrong with it and it honestly deserves four out of five stars but the unjustified hype and wait times takes away a star. A friend recommended this place for our dinner and we are so glad we tried it. It's not just a place to hot pot. Haidilao is an experience. Located in the heart of Flushing in a newer building (I haven't been here in years....back when the municipal lot next to it still had two levels). Upon entrance, there is an elevator bank and stairs to head up. Greeted by a hostess quickly and waited for our party to arrive. There's games, a Playstation 5 (what!?), a pantry area with soy milk slush, hot tea, juice, water, another type of hot beverage, mints, candy, and a variety of snacks. I was floored. It was raining so the staff kept mopping the floors to keep it dry and offered patrons with plastic bags for their umbrellas. There were even ponchos available. Got to our table at a decent time and we were surprised by our friends and a large Happy Birthday set up with giant teddy bears and a beautiful sign. Truly memorable! The waitress was absolutely lovely and kind offering to take photos and helped us get both the chicken nuggets and hotpot kids meals for our little ones. Once we got settled in at our table, we received a ton of hand wipes, toys for the kids (new), hair ties, a bag to put our jackets in, and noticed the table has all the device charges a person would need. They gave us tea and water and the kids meals comes with the cute yogurt drink. Exceptional. Surprisingly the chicken nuggets were damn good. Ordered our food on the ipad and the staff is great at keeping up with the garbage on the table and bringing food. Really impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. Another great experience at Haidilao! Definitely come early as the line starts getting long the second dinner time starts. The good thing though is that the waiting area has snacks and an array of free beverages. You can also use the time to sign up for their free membership for points and other perks. This spot has some of the best meat quality in Flushing for hot pot and I especially love their beef and lamb! The chong qing hot pot base is very spicy so if you get that (which I recommend you do), then you may also want a sweeter base to balance it out (I recommend the pork bone broth). Portions are decently sized and so so delicious! They also have more free snacks (cookies, chips, candies, aiyu jelly, etc.) that you can grab as much as you want of. Meal ends with some free ice cream which is kind of meh but balances the heavy hot pot! Place is spacious, clean and staff are all very attentive. Haidilao has an amazing deal on weekdays from 12-4 pm, where two people can dine for 39.98. That's basically 20$ per person. Each person can get 1 carb: rice/noodle, 1 meat: beef, lamb, chicken, fish etc. and 1 combo plate with various fish balls and veggies. Furthermore, there is a sauce and dessert bar ( price included in deal ) along with many Asian snacks. Afterwards, you can get free ice cream to finish the meal. Before we even begin to eat, she noticed that I was wearing glasses and she handed me a lens wet wipe. I thought this was extremely sweet from her part! The way that she noticed this type of detail was just adorable. My friend and I had questions about a couple of the menu items, and she was just so patient! There were two kinds of fish that my friend and I were deciding between to order, and Mengqi went to her phone to do a Google translation just so that we could get an accurate and descriptive description of what was the difference in taste between the two types of fish. Throughout our dinner, she would come back to our table to see if we needed anything, to add more soup, and just to show that she was available for any requests that we might have. There are not many servers who can continuously have a smile on their face while working - but Mengqi LITERALLY had a smile every time! And literally every time I asked for something to be brought to the table, she would immediately smile right after. But I must say, her smile was very genuine, and it did not look forced whatsoever. She is *so* sweet. You can tell that she has a really great attitude and that just makes her customer service so memorable, to the point that I want to come back to this restaurant. Service was great and quick. The sauce bar with the small dishes were a huge plus along with the ice cream nice touch. Loved the golden soup and everything was high quality. For everything in the picture it came to $140 so maybe a little pricey but there were also free snacks in the waiting area. Came by for my birthday dinner and had another amazing experience. Service was top notch from our very kind server.
