I already wrote this review on Google, but I want to post it here just because I think that the female server with glasses, who worked on December 11th in the night shift until at least midnight should get SO much praise and credit for being such a great, positive, and wonderful waitress !!! So, please read below for this praise to server Mengqi! - Mengqi is an EXCELLENT server! From the very beginning, she had an extremely positive and great attitude. Before we even begin to eat, she noticed that I was wearing glasses and she handed me a lens wet wipe. I thought this was extremely sweet from her part! The way that she noticed this type of detail was just adorable. My friend and I had questions about a couple of the menu items, and she was just so patient! There were two kinds of fish that my friend and I were deciding between to order, and Mengqi went to her phone to do a Google translation just so that we could get an accurate and descriptive description of what was the difference in taste between the two types of fish. Throughout our dinner, she would come back to our table to see if we needed anything, to add more soup, and just to show that she was available for any requests that we might have. There are not many servers who can continuously have a smile on their face while working - but Mengqi LITERALLY had a smile every time! And literally every time I asked for something to be brought to the table, she would immediately smile right after. But I must say, her smile was very genuine, and it did not look forced whatsoever. She is *so* sweet. You can tell that she has a really great attitude and that just makes her customer service so memorable, to the point that I want to come back to this restaurant. For everything in the picture it came to $140 so maybe a little pricey but there were also free snacks in the waiting area. My time here definitely brought me back to fun times in China. This spot is for adventurous eaters who want to be very involved. Excellent smells and tastes! The sauce creation station was fun. Note that some of the stations have slightly different options, so be sure to check them out. It's easy to order with the iPad. The food and broth came out quickly. There are a ton of food options, nicely organized in different categories on the iPad. And you can't neglect to mention the robotic cats, going around ordering food and meowing if you get in their way. They add to the charm. There was a very loud singer on the night we were there. It was a true performance for about 20 minutes. It was a bit too loud for my taste, but it drew a lot of applause and squeals throughout the restaurant. Easy parking underneath the building. There's parking just 1/2 a block from here. The service is excellent. More expensive than other hot pot places. After being greeted staff offered a free grab bag of goodies. Odering the hot pot we were able to get four hot pot bases per table and try each other's. The order tablet enables the patron to fine tune the amount of spiciness of the dish on the order tablet. Spills, napkins, first aide for burns (made up that last one) and all around hospitality (free ice cream) made this a unique and memorable experience. The bathrooms have amenities such as a wrapped up toothbrush. Just a warning: a guy dances near patrons when someone orders a certain noodle dish! A truly unique experience. read more

I don't think I've had better service at a hotpot place than at Haidilao. My group of 5 was sat almost immediately on a weekday night. The restaurant is pretty large and can fit a lot of people, which means little to no waiting. Ordering is done through an iPad and they come within 5-10 minutes with the goods. We ordered 4 different types of soup bases. Beware that the sichuan is actually super spicy... I was really not expecting it to be thaaat spicy but alas, I was naive. We also tried a couple of secret codes from the soup base, golden baos and the toy. We were laughing and trying not to be too obvious, but our server was awesome and gave us the "secret" items. Definitely a revisit spot if I'm back in Flushing. read more

This restaurant is all about service and food. First time dining here and it was an impressive place. All the workers there were friendly. I was a little surprised at how high their prices are, but that didn't stop me from sampling different things! Everything was delicious and looked fresh and clean. This was the second time I've come to Haidilao on my birthday and the service here never fails to be vibrant and celebratory! I made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon in advance for a party of 7, and on the day of, the front desk staff was very patient and flexible with changing our party size and holding our table when our some people in our party were running late. The waiting area itself is very spacious and clean, plus there are free drinks and snacks! Every time I come here, I love seeing what different side dishes this Haidilao has at the sauce bar. I've been to other Hidilao restaurants in the past but none of them have matched the extensive range of food items at Haidilao Flushing. Plus, the service is overall just top notch! The dancing noodles always provide the best show and although getting sung Happy Birthday to always feels a bit awkward, the energy that the HDL staff brings is so warm and special. I got a free cake slice and gift too, which was super cute! Everytime at Hidilao Flushing is always a good time and I can't wait to come back for any future occasions! read more

Wow! What an experience. From the first time you enter till the time you leave there is something to help keep you occupied and entertained. I came as a group of 3. There was a set up next to the front desk with some hot soy milk, waters and snacks. The soy milk was very tasty. We then took our items and sat at a small table with some games available for play while we waited to be called into the dining room. Our main issue was just that our wait was very long and it felt like we were likely forgotten as people kept walking in and were brought right to the back. After we talked to the front, they finally brought us back to our seating area as well. We were taken to a large comfortable booth. The dining area itself is so large and was basically a maze. You order everything a la carte but they also have areas with free snacks and dessert. The food was great, it is definitely very pricy but as an every so often dining location it is worth it. Service itself was attentive. We did say some of the code phrases but were told they can only do one per table. We got a small toy and a whole broth to take home and cook another meal with. I also went to the bathroom which was very thoughtfully decorated with incense and a full toto toilet in every stall. Finally, as we were leaving, there was a red envelope game where each table could pull a red envelope to get a small prize. IE ours was a free thai iced tea during our next visit. What is there not to say about this place?! It's the ULTIMATE HOTPOT location. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Hotpot can be a little bit overwhelming if you have never been. The staff was very caring about what our needs were and as we were cooking away into the delicious broth the staff would quickly clean up the empty plates to give us table room. The sauce station is awesome and you can get super creative. They even have soft serve icecream sections as well. We ended up getting free dessert of this clear jelly and it was so delicious along with the poppin boba. Another great experience is the secrete words, there are certain words where you can get a free sailor moon wand or a free broth etc. And last but not least the bathroom! Been here three times for celebrations. This place is the so mid. The middiest of mids. Nothing extraordinary. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere (albeit gimmicky at times) food and service were good, nothing wrong with it and it honestly deserves four out of five stars but the unjustified hype and wait times takes away a star. There are so many other options for hot pot around the area and with more unique foods. This place is literally called scooping the ocean floor and they did not have as much seafood on their menu as some other local spots. read more

I want to start by saying Haidilao is insanely popular and the service and servers were excellent. While we were waiting for a table we were offered tea and snacks. They also provided aprons, hairbands and protective bags to place your jackets in. But unfortunately we just did not enjoy our dining experience there. It felt like a Chinese Chuck E. Cheese. There was nothing special about the food and loud, hokey, Christmas music blared during the entire meal. We came to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the servers really made it a special experience for everyone! We got 4 different broths for our side of the table. I had really high expectation of Haidilao hotpot having come to Montreal before, but to be honest I was disappointed of the broth! For the price of the soup base around $40, you can choose 1 or 2, or 3 different kinds for the same amount. Pricey, but it is not the reason why I was disappointed. I knew this and expected it. I ordered Tom Yum and Mala. The Tom Yum was good but the Mala was disappointing! I have mala broth every where I go, but there was WAY TOO MUCH Sichuan peppercorn in their soup base which made your lips and tongue NUM if you bite the peppercorn. And it is impossible to take those out because there was wayyyy too much in this soup. It made not only me but my daughter who is a big fan of hot pot loose our taste that we couldn't eat much! It was the opposite experience with our Haidilao in Montreal! I guess because of that I was so excited to come here! I've been going to HDL consistently for 2 years now and it's still one of my favorite hotpot places in nyc. In terms of cleanliness, service and food quality it is top notch. In terms of price it is on the pricier side ($50-$75pp). The servers are very attentive and offer to make you a soup and dipping sauce. I always leave feeling full and satisfied. Made a reservation and was seated right away. This was my first time here so I was excited and heard great things about this place. The soup base alone was $33 which shocked me (i figured $10 a soup but wow this is pricey). We ordered a variety of meat and veggies, all were good. We also ordered the dancing noodle which was cute. The sauce bar was an additional $3 but comes w porridge, rice, snacks (rice crackers etc). Honestly, everything was okay, i've had better and more reasonably priced hotpot. I came in as a party of 7 and we were seated right away as we made reservations via phone. We got 4 different soup bases, and I typically lean towards the tomato broth, but it wasn't as strong as I thought it would be. The spicy broth was definitely SPICY, so if you like spicy foods, that is for you. I was able to redeem only one code and got a free tomato soup base that was packaged in a container and a plastic bag. The best part was the free snacks and side dishes you can pickup yourself. However, the appetizers from the self serving bar and the dessert were fresh and well made. On the even of the winter solstice, the staff served sesame-oeanut rice dumpling as a custom. I've heard that this hotpot place has amazing lot of snacks for grabs and they were right. A lot of packaged snacks even at the waiting area to keep your hunger demon away. A bit more at the sauce bar, but they also had some cold dishes for snacks too, like pig ears. This place is not ayce and is order per dish. Food and soup base was good, we got a tomato one and a spicy one. I'm not sure if it's bc we brought in a cake or we've informed them before hand that there'd be a birthday celebration, our table was set with a cute decoration for pics before they set up the hotpot. There was also a face changing show but pretty much stopped by the time they got to our table. The waitress came to us asking to lower our voices cuz others said we were a bit loud. First Haidilao I've ever been to and I was absolutely floored by the service and amenities. I'm Chinese and usually the only place I eat hotpot is at home, so I wasn't too sure what to expect here (besides the basics that I've heard about). My favorite soup base (and honestly the only one I tried) was the tomato one, and it's so good + flavorful. If I had more room, I would've also tried the coconut matcha latte (?) that they're advertising. The watermelon refresher was good though. As for what we specifically ate, the entire experience was like a fever dream, but all I know is: If I'm ever back in Flushing or even New York as a whole, I'm definitely coming back. read more

Wow, finally got to try the HaiDiLao in Flushing, NYC! I've been waiting for it for years! The entrance is in the back, and you will need to walk through the plaza to find the staircase/elevator to go to the second floor. The interior of the HaiDiLao is pretty much identical to the ones in China. The experience is also identical, with iPad ordering, sauce station, dancing noodle, and more. Also 5 stars because of its clear allergy labeling and good indoor air ventilation. The CO2 reading was around 700 at opening. Can't wait to be back! read more

We tried the tomato soup base and mushroom soup base. I have heard that the service here is good, but our experience was only alright as everything did get busy fast and not enough servers were there to attend our table (we went on Christmas at 11am). The bathroom amenities were very cool!!! One thing to note here is that everything is a little on the pricier side compared to other hot pot restaurants around the area. I enjoyed my first time at haidilao, but never gotten around to going back because of the cost. They have a lunch special going on at the moment and I finally decided to take advantage of it. On Monday - Friday from 12-5pm, they have a $20 lunch special which include broth, a protein of choice (fatty beef, sliced pork belly and fish filet), instant noodle or rice and a platter of standard hotpot toppings. Bear in mind that the sauce bar also comes with a few side dishes such as marinated pig ears, pickled veggies and nuts and fruits. There's also a hot/fried bar station, which is really just chicken nuggets and shrimp chips. Brought my mom here for the lunch special and she really enjoyed her experience here. She didn't believe me that the snacks and goodies scattered across the restaurant were complimentary. She was even more surprised when we were given a bag full of treats as we were leaving. The entertainment (like the bian lian performance) also kept her really amused. Although she was initially skeptical that this wouldn't have been worth it since it wasn't AYCE, she thoroughly enjoyed her time here and said she wants to come back here with her friends. read more
