The best Halal hot pot that I ever taste. Rich texture halal meat with tasty soup base. I personally like mushroom soup, good for people who like non spicy. Make sure grab Kavss for spicy hotpot:)

I thought this place was cursed because I've seen it cycle through a few different hot pot restaurant names for several years with no reviews. And you know what, it's a pretty good local spot with the option for AYCE halal hot pot or a la carte Xinjiang food (think Uyghur noodles, bread, kebab and lamb). Being a hot pot lover, I had to get AYCE after an invigorating and hunger-inducing dance class. They have a cheaper lunch pricing that includes the weekend, which is very rare and great to see! For their all you can eat, there are a lot of options for self-serve ingredients, including some Chinese food in the buffet (most of which were a little dry), cheap sushi, dessert, DIY milk tea, fresh ice cream, and a sauce bar with pickled veggies. Do note that you may see a bug or two flying around some ingredients, so select wisely - I'm unfazed since I've traveled to Asia. The important items are covered, plus $25/pp for AYCE lunch on the weekend is crazy good in the bay. They only offered beef or lamb for the hot pot meat cuts at the time, which were unlisted on the menu. That was fine enough for us; you also have the option of doing a large pot to share that can hold two broths, or individual pots. The spicy broth was standard and good on the mala, the original soup was a little more bland than expected, and the fungus soup was surprisingly very umami and shroom-savory. The place is pretty dark, quiet, and interesting. There's some weird Western-style seats and furniture that just make you go "why". The service was pretty decent, as we always got meat whenever we wanted it. If you want value hot pot and no hassle in procuring your own ingredients, this is a solid place in the area.

It's supposed to be all you can eat but they only give you one portion of meat, which is about three slices of the world's most thinly-sliced beef I've ever seen. The other food options are decent, but they're sitting in pools at lukewarm water for God knows how long. Service was unattentive- one guy who disappeared for an hour after seating us. There are a hundred different hot-pot restaurants in the area that do it a hundred times better.

This review is mainly for their ordering dishes side of the menu, but some comments can be made in general. We came in with a party of 10, 5 of those who had hotpot and 5 of those who ordered dishes. We were seated at separate tables but was served by the same person. They have a decently sized menu for ordering dishes, but you'd have to scan the QR code as I couldn't find anything online. Otherwise their hotpot selection seemed pretty decent, though each person has their individual pot instead of a shared one. I would order quickly since it takes a good amount of time for food to come (up to 45min...). We had 1 dish that came fast, and we almost finished it before the next dish came; a good 15min in between the 3 dishes we ordered. I ordered a lamb kebab, cold chili chicken, and the nine bowls of hui cuisine. For starters, the lamb kebab is pretty expensive, given you're given 3 skewers for $18! The taste was okay, but did not feel worth it since the meat was on metal skewers and not the wood ones (which make it taste a lot better). The cold chili chicken was pretty good and really numbs your entire mouth if you eat too much haha. The 9 bowls of hui cuisine was basically various meatballs of lamb and beef, with chili chicken and tripe. The meat tasted a little too salty overall, especially since it didn't even come with bread or rice. Although it sounds good and is unique, I do not recommend ordering since again, it's basically a bunch of meat balls that are a little too salty. In summary, foodwise, I'd stick to their hotpot over dishes. There are definitely better places to eat Xinjiang cuisine, but their hot pot selection was pretty plentiful (but also better hotpot places too). What really grinded my gears was that an auto tip of 20% was added to our check when we clearly had 2 parties of 5 eating and separate tables with separate checks. I feel like the service did not deserve 20%, especially when the dishes came out pretty slow. Service was otherwise OK at best, and you had to flag down the waiters instead of them coming to you.

Walked in hungry. Walked out annoyed. The food missed the mark, but the real problem was the attitude. This was counter service. No table service. No follow-ups. Yet the cashier felt comfortable calling customers "low class" for not tipping. That's not how tipping works. And that's definitely not how respect works. Restaurants earn loyalty through food and manners. This place delivered neither.

Halal Street serves an AYCE Hot pot Buffet experience with all Halal meats. We got the half & half variation for our hot pot broth. Half was the tomato broth and the other was the Thai hot & spicy. The hotpot is pretty standard, they have a great sauce bar. Many of their items seem to not be dethawed before serving and they were quite hard before putting them into the hot broth. Halal Street is good if you're looking for Halal options or want to try Uyghur food, which I should've ordered, but otherwise, it wasn't the best out of the hot pot spots I've been to. I also tried their self-serve boba station and it wasn't that great, definitely more buffet-style quality.

Halal Street Hot Pot & Xinjiang Cuisine truly excels at what it does. It offers an all-you-can-eat hot pot experience that appeals to a wide range of diners, including those with a strong preference for halal options. This inclusivity sets it apart from many other hot pot establishments. Full disclosure: my review might be slightly biased since a good friend of mine generously covered my bill. That said, the $35 cost per person for a hot pot dinner here feels like excellent value since you get high-quality ingredients, unlimited protein options, warm green tea, and attentive service that includes frequent stock refills when your broth runs low. I particularly enjoyed the crab sticks and the kebabs, and was surprised at the many different food options that exist outside of the immediate food bar. One feature that stood out to me was the inclusion of a prayer room, complete with mats. This is a thoughtful and rare amenity for practicing Muslims. If I am ever by the Newark area again (especially during lunchtime where the price is more affordable), I will absolutely consider stopping by Halal Street.

I first heard about Halal Street Hot Pot on Instagram and it's $20, all you can eat lunch special. I thought it was too good to be true, so I wanted to go check that out and see if it was really true. Let me tell you, it is 100% absolutely true! The restaurant is super huge and there's indoor and outdoor seating as well. First up, you choose your broth and they have everything from Thai spicy, tomato, mushroom and a few others. Then you are on your own and they have all sorts of things including shrimp, meatballs, sushi, fresh fruits, desserts, vegetables, fried rice, dumplings, steamed buns, a huge sauce bar, DIY boba, churned ice cream and so much more. The staff will bring out beef and lamb for your hot pot and I preferred the beef more than the lamb. But yeah, there was so much food and there's no time limit as well for the lunch special. The lunch special is only valid Monday through Friday and the prices are higher during the evening and weekends. Service was friendly, fast and efficient. I highly recommended if you're in the area and I would totally go back especially when everything else costs about $20 anyways. Definitely more bang for your buck here.

Stopped by to try out ughur cuisine, not the hot pot. The restaurant itself is huge, with one side sectioned off completely for hot pot. We ordered some lamb buns, their "hand pulled noodles" and a stir fried lamb/bread dish. Everything was pretty tasty but carb-heavy so I was extremely bloated and drowsy after the meal. The stir-fry lamb bread was interesting - kind of like soft croutons. It was pretty good but probably very heavy! I saw they have a few other lamb dishes as well such as whole lamb, or 1 pound lamb. Will try next time with more people!

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We were a group of 7 people. Four people paid and tipped. The fifth person paid but did not tip, which is completely her right. At that point, the owner/cashier started insulting her, calling us cheap. When I told him this behavior was unacceptable, he escalated things and called me low class. Let's be clear: This restaurant offers terrible service. There was no real service at all -- we had to serve ourselves, cook for ourselves, and handle everything on our own. No one came to check on us, no assistance, nothing. And yet they still felt entitled to a tip. A tip is earned, not demanded. No one is obligated to tip, especially when the service is nonexistent. Instead of acting professionally, the owner chose to insult customers and create a hostile environment. That alone guarantees I will never return, and I will make sure others know exactly what happened. Respect your customers. If you want tips, provide service. If you can't handle that, you shouldn't be in this business. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

This place is so delicious and authentic. After living in China for years I haven't been able to find a good place for dumplings or hot pot that is halal. This was such a surprise! We love Uyghur food and were happy to find this spot near us. You have the option of the hot pot (self cooking) or being served. The kabobs were tender and juicy, lagman was very tasty. The decor in this place is out of this world- it's a HUGE restaurant with many areas to sit- booths and chair seating- with beautiful cultural decor that is amazing to look at. The food is the best xinjiang food I've had in the Bay Area. The lamb skewers were delicious, just right ratio of fat and lean lamb meat. The baked bun is so good that my 8 yr old daughter ate 2! The lamb meatball inside is not gamy at all. I love the big plate chicken. We ordered a small version, and it is huge. The whole family loved the lamb polo rice dish with carrots. We finally found the Nang stir-fry lamb dish again. It is delicious. The only issue is their restroom needs toilet paper and the soap is empty. read more

I was excited to try a halal hotpot spot but was unfortunately very disappointed by this place. Not sure if we just went at a bad time but it just wasn't good. The service was very slow. Our server handed us our menus and asked what broths we wanted and then took them away immediately so we didn't know what any of the protein options were other than beef or lamb which they verbally offered us. The salad bar was very mid and everything that was suppose to be hot was room temperature and stale. The only good thing about this place is that it is spacious and has a nice outdoor seating area. I hate leaving negative reviews but definitely felt like a waste of money going here which was disappointing. read more

First off the ambiance of the place is really beautiful, the outdoor seating area is very aesthetically pleasing and the restaurant itself is decorated nicely. However, the customer service needs a lot of work. Right when we walked in our server asked if we wanted to sit at the hot pot area or the other side without explaining the difference between the two areas. Upon being seated, we were basically ignored the whole time. I would understand if the restaurant was packed and that's why it took a while to get to us but there were only 5 tables that were taken and we were the only table that had yet to order. The food was okay, it tasted good but I don't know if I can say it was worth the price. read more

Came here a couple of times for their hotpot. They have a decent selection of broths, veggies, tofu, seafood, and halal meat. For strict vegans/vegetarians, one of their broths is meat-free (the Fungus Soup) and it's delicious. It's a nice relaxed environment so no noisy background music like most other places. You can choose between ayce hotpot or xinjiang cuisine. I did the hotpot. There are six soup bases. And you can order beef or lamb meat. And you get to pick the other food yourself, vegetables, seafood, noodles and cooked food like fried rice and chicken. Overall I think this is a good hotpot. And the service is nice. read more

This place is great! Owner is very caring and friendly I would just give five stars just for her because how she came to our table and engaged in the conversation and asked how we were doing. My family and I went there on Saturday and we enjoyed their open buffet and hospitality. Everything was fresh and yummy. Their dumplings are home made with traditional stuffing made from ground beef. I really recommend this place and can't wait to take my sister there next time. read more

I saw the tiktok video by @bebimhungry and had to try this place. We did the hotpot buffet, which was one of the best hot pot in NorCal! Customer service were very friendly. We got the original broth and spicy Thai which were both delicious. Meat was good quality for lamb and beef. Lots of toppings to choose. Loved the boba bar and fresh ice cream. This will be our new go to for hot pot! read more

Cooked food was freshly made especially roasted/fried chicken, crispy outside n juicy inside! All meats are thinly sliced and are ready to be cooked in the hot pot. Other dishes like seafood, veggies, fishballs and others were beyond expectation, I highly recommend this place! Service was very good, waitresses were all very nice and helpful. Ambiance was nice and the restaurant space was not as crowded as I thought. First time at a Hot Pot and the experience did not disappoint. Awesome service from everyone we met and the buffet area was immaculately clean. Our server was Ocean and he was fantastic. He immediately made us feel very welcome, carefully guided us through our many options and made sure we were taken care of. The selection of meats (fresh and pre-cooked) and vegetables is great and there are a few cooked items in the buffet area to round out the experience including fried rice, crispy chicken, dumplings and sesame balls. Lastly, the mango and coffee chiffon cake were delicious. Would highly recommend you give it a try. read more

Came here for the hotpot AYCE. Is this the best hotpot you can get in the bay? No. But for $20 on a weekday, the value is pretty good. There's 5 soup options to choose from and unlimited beef, lamb, and chicken. The side bar has a decent selection of hot pot essentials like mushrooms, tofu, and vegetables. They also have a boba bar but we found it a little watered down. After your meal there's fruit and ice cream. The service was very acceptable and kept our table stocked with meat. Overall, the food quality is a bit lower than your average bay area AYCE hotpot, but you can't really complain at a price of $20 for lunch. If you're in the area and feel like a good value meal, would definitely recommend. Would return! read more

Second visit to this restaurant. Another outstanding meal. I was met by Amy, same hostess as before who remembered me. This time a party of two with my former boss. We both selected the hotpot. I should have listened to Amy and got the hotpot with numbing pepper corns but this time I tried original which really needed a lot more heat/spice. I compensated by creating a peanut sauce with a lot of chili oil. The dipping sauces are created by you. Sone creativity is needed as they give you a lot of options. Also, the fixings for the hotpot in the buffet is very fresh. I went out of control and kept going back for my favorites. Now to the meat, you got straight up beef sliced thin. I however kept going for the thinly sliced lamb which had a good amount of fat. This melted in your mouth and so flavorful. Not gamey and tasted more beef like. I kept asking for more since it was all you can eat. Lastly the desert was again excellent. I had a mango cake followed up with freshly sliced watermelon and Mellon. Another so satisfying meal at reasonable prices. This is the best Halal restaurant in the region, for its food and its service. read more

Great service, food was good. Buffet style & clean place. From seafood, to meats, boba drinks, fruits & ice cream. We went in on a Saturday night, 5 adults estimated about $35 per person. They do however add the gratuity themselves of 18%. So if you don't spot that, you'll end up tipping twice. Overall, delicious place to go!! I'd come back again read more

We went a couple of weeks ago and it was an amazing experience. The food was really really good- I was pleasantly surprised because it was not super busy. The food came out quick and hot. I've had many places that serve hot pot before, but this is hands-down, the best one. the service was amazing. Our server Ocean was very kind and attentive, and even took the time to start conversation. service was fast. It is truly an all you can eat restaurant. We kept ordering meat and they were quick with it and didn't make us feel bad about ordering more. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and very fairly priced. My husband is Chinese and says that the food is very authentic made with the perfect ingredients. read more

This is the most disappointing hot pot I've been to, we're going to leave after looking at the menu, again 2 prices, $34 & $42. The broth comes with only 2 flavors just like Haidilao in Fremont which if you chose the wrong ones, then your meal is over, this is exactly what happened to us. The spicy broth is just garlic, star anis, salt water and lots of red pepper that burns your tongue so you can't taste anything. The original broth is also just tons of garlic cloves and tasteless. For $34 you get the least expensive beef there are, my son likes pot belly like Shabuya but only get pork slices, there is pot belly in the cold meat section and doesn't look very fresh. For $42 you get a plate of Wagyu beef each and a few more choices of meats like briskets. So we decided to go with the cheaper $34 menu. Hot pot is simple, good hot broth and "tender" meats to dip in to eat. If the broth is tasteless then the hot pot is bad. The sauce bar is small and people have to get in line to get the sauce, the ponzu is salty not as tasty and light as other places and it's in a bottle. The veggies bar I like, it had Tong Ho and lettuce wraps, but the Tong Ho was gone after the fist round and replaced with something else. The hot foods are actually good, the fried chicken was tasty and crispy, the braised pork feet was delicious. The seafood bar is ok. I think it's depend on everyone's taste, I definitely don't like the tier menus, I prefer individual broth instead of everyone is using the same 2 flavor broths, that's why we don't go to Haidilao any more although their broths are tasty. Until we tried all the hot pots places, we wouldn't know which types fit our tastes and look at the patrons, Chinese main land may have different tastes than Chinese Hong Kong or Taiwan. There are definitely not many Japanese in these places although it's shabu style. Shabuya is still our favorite.

What a disaster today. I have been to this restaurant for many times. When it was a few months to one year ago, there was not a lot of customers. The service was pretty good. But obviously, when they gain more customers, they are completely unable to handle that. Today is the first day of the year. My family and I went here to try to have a good time. The whole situation is so bad that my mood is shifted between amused and anger. And I am for sure not the only one. I saw a lot of angry customers around me. To be fair, many of the waiters and waitresses here are courteous and polite. The tall, well-built waiter with glasses is very polite, and I often see him running around, doing his best to serve customers. One of the shorter female waitresses, whom I recognize as one of the more experienced employees, is also very courteous. However, the manager--also a male with glasses--was not in a good mood today. Despite many things going wrong, there were no apologies or expressions of regret from him. For example, when the milk tea completely ran out, many customers were understandably upset. Not only was the milk tea unavailable, but all the drinks were out, yet there was no apology from the manager. The word "sorry" seems absent from his vocabulary. In contrast, the other waiters and waitresses were far more apologetic, frequently saying "sorry" and trying to make up for the inconveniences caused. When the restaurant gets busy, most customers understand that the staff is doing their best. In fact, many customers go out of their way to help themselves. I saw one customer refill their own soup pot and others fetching things for themselves. Customers don't seem to mind serving themselves or even dealing with some items being unavailable. What really triggers their frustration is the manager's unapologetic attitude. A simple apology could go a long way in easing tensions and making the situation more bearable. read more

The variety here is honestly one of the best parts. For the actual hot pot, there are great halal meat options like lamb, beef, and chicken. The buffet has so many add-ins too--crab sticks, lobster balls, meatballs, shrimp, tofu, plus tons of veggies like squash, corn, and cabbage. I had a terrible experience at Halal Street and ended up leaving without even ordering. We joined the waitlist through Yelp since that option was available, but when we arrived, the staff told us they only take reservations--even though their Yelp page doesn't say that. They still seated us, but then left us waiting for 15-20 minutes with no acknowledgment. We were sat all the way in the back, and despite staff walking past us several times, no one stopped to take our order or even check in. Meanwhile, other customers who came in after us received immediate service. The lack of attention and professionalism was extremely disappointing. It felt like we were completely overlooked, and after waiting so long, we decided to leave. When I arrived to pick up my order, the woman working there was extremely rude and her customer service was terrible. I explained that the wonton soup wasn't spicy and I wanted hot sauce for that. She then told me that the hot sauce is only for people who order dumplings, which was honestly ridiculous and came across as extremely cheap. She eventually handed me two tiny containers of hot sauce with an attitude. When I got home, I opened the beef noodle soup and there were literally only three tiny pieces of beef in the entire order. I called the restaurant to ask about it, and instead of trying to resolve the issue, she became even more rude. She told me, "How many pieces do you expect me to put in there? You got a good deal, buy one get one free." She then said her boss told her to only put three pieces of beef in the soup and that the soup they make is "not just for you." The fact that I received a promotion through DoorDash should not mean the quality or portion of my food should be reduced. If you're offering a buy-one-get-one-free promotion, customers should still receive a proper order. Between the horrible customer service, extremely small portions, poor-tasting food, dirty-looking restaurant, and unpleasant atmosphere, I will never come back here again and would not recommend this place to anyone.
