Giant and Lobster Crunch, with large Asahi

Food was fantastic, we ordered 4 rolls and one large beer to share with two people. Romeo and Juliet was good, but we preferred the Lobster Crunch. Giant roll was second favorite, escolar on top was very tasty. The deep fried Philadelphia was also perfectly cooked. Staff was very nice and we ate outside in their wind guarded patio. Location is great, plenty of parking.

My second time coming to eat here with my family and i would say it's really good food and lots of selection on the menu.Server is very friendly and respectful.I will definitely come back again.

Great sushi tucked right off highway 1 in HMB. Fresh sushi, great service, place is very clean. Recommend the Miso Black Cod, loved it! And the Curry Katsu Udon is a winner at our table. Only recommendation is they need a better sign outside so you done blow past them. Try them out, you won't regret it.

My favorite sushi restaurant on hwy 1. Great service great food and right near the beach.

Great food, great service, close to the beach. My favorite sushi restaurant on Hwy 1!

Big fan of Hangetsu. The food on the day of our visit was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. Personal favorite and a recommendation - Santa Barbara Uni. Fresh and sweet - surprisingly rare level of (high) quality. Another great feature is outdoor seating - but - in this areaa - it may get too chilly.

Hangetsu totally fits the hype! This local sushi restaurant Hangetsu is cozy, clean, charming, and serving delicious fresh shasimi and sushi dishes. The service is friendly and fast. I would highly recommend it

Great selection of very fresh sushi. The regular sushi chef is much better than than the weekday chef. Best sushi on the coast.

As of eight hours ago, their Yelp hours indicated that they were open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today on a Saturday, and they had been updated two weeks ago. Today, we drove down from SF to check out this restaurant and ended up getting mired in traffic. Two hours after we left, we were getting close, and I checked their Yelp page and saw that they were open through 8:30 p.m.--with the hours having been updated two weeks ago. We had trouble finding the location (their signage is abysmal, literally tucked into a corner that you won't see when you're turning in from the main road), so I called and tried to ask for directions. "Can you help us with directions?" "No," the gentleman said. "Sorry, did you say you can't provide directions?" "No," he said. Uh... OK. We circled the lot and eventually found it anyway, tucked between a Subway and another nondescript store, and at this point we were starving. The doors were open, so we rolled in, at which point a few staff members who were sitting at the tables looked at us, unsmiling, and said one word: "Closed." "But I just called...?" I said. Couldn't he have mentioned that they were closed when I called? Maybe that's what he was trying to tell me when he said he couldn't provide directions; as you can guess, his English wasn't great. It was, shall we say, not the best experience. I called back later and suggested to that same gentleman that he update his store hours on Yelp. Eight hours later, by the time I went online to write this review, I'm pleased to report that he has. Hopefully, this spares future sushi aspirers the pain of fighting through abominable Bay Area traffic and circling a parking lot multiple times, searching in vein for a poorly placed sign, only to be greeted with a single stone-faced "Closed."

You are allowed to order two items at a time during the 90 minute brunch portion. You then have 30 minutes for the dessert items, though the waiter did say we could order more brunch items during that time too. I maxed out during round 5. Round 1: The MARIN COUNTY CHEESE TASTING and the PAN SEARED SCALLOP. There were three types of cheese on the plate with some fig jam and some raisin bread. Everything was super tasty. Loved the fig jam. The scallop was very nicely cooked. Loved the truffle foam. It was supposedly polenta foam but it was very smooth and not grainy at all. Round 2: CAVATELLI and CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES. I think the pasta was my favorite meal of the day. It had a great truffle and parmesan flavor. Soft pasta. Yum. The pancakes were also delicious. Nice and fluffy with melted chocolate chips. I did hold the ricotta cream from it as I know I don't like it. Round 3: LOBSTER ROLL and WAGYU BEEF SLIDER. The lobster roll was tasty but messy. I don't like caviar so I had that held. The slider was very tasty. The sauce on it was a bit too BBQ-sauce flavor for me but overall not a bad bite. Round 4: I did the ORGANIC MAITAKE MUSHROOM and another scallop. The mushrooms were super flavorful. Loved the crispy rice puffs on them. Round 5: I just did on plate - the BELGIAN WAFFLES. I loved the waffles. Crispy outside, soft inside. Warm apples on top and a big dollop of whipped cream. Yum! Dessert: There were carrot cakes, coconut macaroons, strawberry shortcakes and a chocolate pistachio balls. I only add the carrot cake there and took the rest home for later. The staff was very good. Always taking away empty plates and refilling drinks and water. A splurge of a meal but worth it for good food and service.

We were…read moreseated by the window (per reservation request), which is probably one of the highlights, watching the waves during the course of the meal. At almost $200 pp, we went in wanting to make sure we could order as much as we could during the time limit of the unlimited brunch. However, we didn't have to worry - the service was so fast, that by the end we were well stuffed that the time restraint was moot. Each person can order 2 dishes at a time, and we had the chance to cover everything we wanted to try off the menu and order our favorites multiple times. Some highlights were definitely the scallop and lamb (even as non-lamb lover). The salad also surprisingly stood out, it was really great to eat this paired with the seafood/meats especially towards the end of the meal. I also really enjoyed trying the different caviars, and always love a solid wagyu slider. Only wished they had cornichons to pair with the slider, but appreciate that the staff tried to find pickles for us in the kitchen. The meal ended with a afternoon tea tower of pastries, which we were at that point way too stuffed to take in. The one pastry I tried though, was really delicious, not too sweet. All in all, 10/10 experience. The cherry on top was the complimentary champagne for our celebration! Truly a splendid experience.

We got lucky to find a spot right away and had no wait, something that's pretty rare here. A huge shoutout to our waitress, Sulem, who was so sweet, attentive, and genuinely friendly. She found out it was our dog's birthday and surprised him with his own pup cup while we humans enjoyed a delicious Italian affogato. It was such a thoughtful touch and really made our visit extra special :) Thank you! For food, we started with the Kumamoto oyster shooters, which were so yummy! We also highly recommend the house-made potato gnocchi, it was one of our favorite dishes. We tried the Manhattan chowder for the first time, and while I still prefer New England clam chowder, it was fun to switch things up. The local halibut was good as well, though ours was just slightly overcooked. To drink, I had the cilantro gin gimlet, which was light, refreshing, and perfect. Overall, we had another great experience and will definitely be back to try more of the menu. The beach views make this such a charming spot and the outdoor heaters are a nice touch for cooler days. My friend is gluten-free, and we were happy to see that many menu items were clearly labeled as GF, making ordering much easier. We shared a bowl of Manhattan clam chowder, which was enormous, we couldn't even finish it! We also ordered the roasted petrale sole along with a side of creamy roasted mushrooms. Both dishes were delicious, generously portioned, and perfect for sharing. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, we both enjoyed our lunch and would happily return.

When the restaurant opened, there was no greeting or welcome. The door was simply unlocked, and we had to figure out ourselves that it was time to come in. Other tables that came in after us had their orders taken, received bread, and were brought drinks while we still had not even been acknowledged for an order. He then walked right past us without saying anything. At that point, we left. I wanted to try the food because it genuinely looked good, but the service experience was frustrating and unacceptable, especially after being the first customers seated. Two stars because the food may be good, but the service made it impossible to stay.
