came on a sunday around 2:30 and there was a line out the door. the line moved really fast and we got our goodies within 10 mins and found a table! it's a relatively spacious space and everything on display looked so good we tried the carrot cake: the cake is super moist and was so satisfying with the cream cheese frosting. however the frosting is on the sweeter side so would recommend having with some tea or coffee. smoked salmon flatbread: tasted like a lox bagel! the flatbread is more of a focaccia-esque bread with a bit more crunch and chew. the smoked salmon was fresh and nicely balanced with the pickled onions and radish. there was everything seasoning on the focaccia and the cream cheese was seasoned so all today it did get a bit salty. overall the goodies all look and tasted super yummy. worth a visit if ur in the area! i really want to try the cinnamon bun and chocolate cake, but will bring friends next time so it doesn't get too overwhelming. read more

My wife dropped her cookie (because it was too heavy...and too salty imo) and instead of giving us a new one they decided to be rude to us instead as if we were trespassing and said we had to buy another one. They only told us we could buy one after trying to get us to leave. They were nowhere near closing time by the way. We were that at 11AM on a Friday. I used to work at a coffee shop and bakery and it was standard practice to always replace items that were lost or damaged. Anyway, we still gave them a shot and purchased another overpriced cookie and it was not good. Too salty, dry, and obviously made with attitude and not love. 1 star! read more

We came here for an afternoon delight treat-yo-self, and very excited to try several goodies, but Hani's was another epic NYC customer service fail that ruins the whole experience When we walked in, we saw that the entire place was full except for one table with a "reserved" sign. One of us gestured toward it before ordering and asked, "Can we sit there after we order?" (thinking that the reserved sign was to ensure a paying customer who ordered in) and the woman helping us said yes. So, we order and then when one of us goes to sit down while the other one pays, this very same woman says, "Oh, no, you can't sit there, that's reserved." Befuddled, one of us informs her that she literally just told us that we could sit there, and then she says, "No, I meant in the general space [which is completely full with no seating, and we might add, with no one eating either--just occupying space]." And then it became a testy back and forth argument until another worker (seemingly in charge?!) informed us that that table was having a leak over it and that's why it was reserved. Just wow, what a customer service debacle. Listen, one of us was born and raised in NYC--we get that niceties are on reserve here, but nobody wants to deal with a jerk at the counter when you're paying premium price for pastries. Train your staff! As for the goodies, they were spectacular, although it's not so fun to eat stuff when it's practically melting in 90+ degree heat outside, which is where we ended up. The halva-pistachio rice crispy was unique and outstanding (oh, just remembered when we asked our A+ server if we could pick the one in the case that looked good to us, she just flat out said no and grabbed one from the back. Thanks again, sweetheart!) The malted cinnamon roll was also excellent although we could have used a bit more malt. Finally, the chocolate chip cookie was one of the best that we've ever had--so, so, good. We would have given this place 5 stars if we had even received a modicum of acceptable customer service, but since we didn't, we're landing on three stars. Not sure if we'll be back or not because we know our kiddo would love it here, but we're unwilling to be treated poorly for the hefty price tag. Time will tell. read more

I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and Hani's delivered. I've been a few times now and have gotten to try a few different things. I've heard good things of the chocolate chip cookie which is good but not the best I've had, if you like a thick crunchy and chewy cookie with big chips and sea salt than this one is for you but also has hidden white chocolate chips fyi if you're not a fan of those. One of the better cinnamon buns downtown, the icing isn't too much and the bun itself is so soft. Each cake I've tried here is delightful, their textures are perfect and none have been too sweet. This place is unworthy of the hype. Yes, you heard that right. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good bakery and make it a point to try one every chance/ weekend I get. I really wanted this to be the best bakery I've been to. But everything here was overtly sweet and WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. We've never paid a 100$ bucks on baked goods at any bakery before. And I would pay this happily if I loved the goods. Unfortunately Hani's spends too much time in making its baked goods look pretentiously elevated instead of focusing just on the flavours. The only thing I like here was the marble pound cake. There are shit tons of bakeries in the city (and next door to Hani's- cue librae) that can do a good puff pastry and an excellent croissant for half the price. If just outright 'too sweet' is your flavour and you care about marketing, packaging more than taste, and less about breaking your bank, go here. One time go for me at the most. Incredible new bakery! I regret that I didn't take any pictures of my pastries, but I couldn't help myself from digging in. I went on a Sunday around 2pm and there was still a plentiful selection with no line. Because there are so many unique and creative options, I was conflicted on what to choose, but I settled on a broccoli sausage scone and a cookie butter monkey bread. Broccoli sausage scone: 3.5/5 good but not great. The texture was bready and the cheddar didn't come through very strong. Only 2 larger chunks of sausage rather than smaller pieces throughout. I'd pass on this next time (which I almost never say - I absolutely love scones). Cookie butter monkey bread: 5/5 incredible!! The employee told me that this was a new item to the menu and I'm so glad I tried it. The croissant pieces were perfectly laminated and the bottom had a hardened sugar texture similar to a kouign amann. Great ratio of cookie butter and not overly sweet. I love pulling apart my pastries and eating them piece by piece so this was perfect for me haha. Definitely recommend!! read more

The sausage in the sausage roll tastes like it came out of a can, the paneer pinwheel is so salty you'll be gagging for water, and the service is ok but on the ruder side (one example is they'll make you wait for the hot chocolate as if you ordered a coffee but the chocolate is ready made and sitting there, they just add whipped cream). read more

Since hearing about this bakery opening months ago, I was so excited to try it. I was there Saturday morning and it was packed, but luckily no wait. I really wanted a cinnamon roll but I forgot about asking if they had any available (next time!!!). I also wanted to look around and maybe sit down but all the tables were full. I decided on a piece of banana bread, a chocolate pudding cup and the amazing looking triple chocolate chip cookie. Everything honestly looked so delicious but I will go back to try more lol. I was a little hungry while I was waiting at my hair appointment so I nibbled a bit of the banana bread. Had high hopes for this place. Inside is pretty small and horrible set up. The actual pastries is just a small selection in the middle. You dont get a chance to look over the pastries really. When I said to stay she claimed she couldn't hear me and I had to repeat myself multiple times. She then said for here? Isn't that the same thing? How did she hear my order then with no issues? Service is great. I tried the honey cake which was good. The lemon merengue little pie was excellent. The 1000 layer crust was so delicate and layered properly so it doesn't all break all over. The next time I got the cinnamon bun, which was actually very good. The prices for both seemed expensive, even for the east village and left me wanting more.
