Big fan of this place since they opened. Many of their dishes are very good. Service is typically quick and responsive. The ambience is typical of a Hong Kong cafe, nothing fancy, but clean and serviceable. Only 2 stars because of melted styrofoam containers. Consuming the chemicals from melted styrofoam over time can cause cancer, especially blood cancers. To their credit, many of their dishes come in plastic containers, but after seeing melted styrofoam from a fried rice order, they either need to stop using styrofoam or place a foil barrier in between the styrofoam and food. The food is really good. I came here for lunch. We got so many dishes to try family style and portions are big. I recommend to get their minced pork with egg over rice. I also liked their chicken wings and beef chow fun. I would not recommend the duck. It's very bony with little to no meat. Their HK hot milk tea is authentic. Love it. My husband got the lemon iced tea and it was so good too. Free refills too. This place would've been 5 stars but the service was nonexistent. We had to get our own containers to pack up the food and flag the servers down multiple times for refills. The place inside is super tiny with a couple of tables. I wouldn't recommend this place for large parties (max 4 people is ideal). Quite a lot of people do take out. Parking lot is a decent size, you shouldn't have problems with the parking. Hole in a wall restaurant, if it wasn't for Yelp I wouldn't have spotted this place. I wished it had more tables, the wait can be pretty long since it's a small shop. I'm a huge fan of Hong Kong cafes. My partner and I ordered pineapple buns, beef chow fun and fried chicken wing to share for lunch. The beef chow fun was full of flavor and the portion size was huge. It wasn't too oily either. The chicken wings could be better, I think they still need to perfect the seasoning. In an unassuming strip mall between Target and Mcdonald's is some of the best Chinese food I've had in my life. I've eaten at many places in NYC and Hao Cafe's food is as good as anything in Flushing. It tastes like how I remember the Cantonese food of a legendary restaurant growing up. I can't say if the taste is authentic (though even I can taste the wok hei in their noodles), but I can say it's incredibly nostalgic. It's clean, consistent, filling, and delicious. And unlike the legendary restaurant back in NYC, the staff here are friendly and kind. Like another reviewer here said, I also think about Hao Cafe's food constantly. What a gem! This hole in the wall restaurant serves great cantonese food and they have great lunch specials from 11am-5pm. The portions are pretty large for lunch and come with a drink (ice teas, coffees, milk teas, sodas) and rice. There are a few tables inside and the service is quick and friendly. I came here during their grand opening and every time the service is really friendly and quick. I came here with mu family and we ordered the mapo tofu, shrimp with spicy salt with shell, and orange peel chicken. All were good but my favorite was the shrimp with spicy salt-it was fried very well. Even though we ordered the lunch menu, we still had leftovers to take home. I love this place! It is delicious food and lemon tea. Their workers are all very nice, even down to their chefs. They all come out to say Hi. Clean utensils. Service was above average and one of the two waitresses answered all the questions I had since it was my first time there. All the dishes we ordered were on par, very enjoyable. We tried their roasted duck and BBQ pork, both meats had great flavor but the duck skin was a little chewy and pork was a little tough. Portion is average. The duck sauce was very delicious. BBQs typically available after 10am. They use quality white rice. We ordered more food to take home. Prices are slightly higher than other places. The best surprise and the reason I give it a 5 stars rating is because of the cleanliness of their restroom. I personally would not go back to a restaurant by choice if their restroom is dirty even if their food is good. Happened across this place from social media touching on their awesome 2 item BBQ plate and wanted to check it out. Since there were two of us, I noticed it was slightly cheaper to just each do a 1 item BBQ plate and share it so we went that route. I noticed there are a lot of fairly priced items on their menu. Lunch has some cheap drink add-ons if you want but I was already getting drinks afterwards so I opted out this time. Food was decent, definitely a good portion, price was quite good for these days. I almost want to keep this place a secret but the secret's already out, because they are busy! Hao Cafe is located in a small plaza in Duarte. It's the first HK type eatery in the city and away from all the other HK spots in Arcadia or Temple City about 15 minutes away. It's a small business with a small interior so it'll easily fill up, causing people to have to wait outside. The staff is pretty friendly and efficient. The menu covers many of your typical Hong Kong breakfast and lunch items so it's easy to find comfort food on the menu. Everything we tried on our visits were good. The black pepper beef udon has chewy noodles and a nice wok flavor. The curry is rich and slightly spicy, just enough to detect but not burn the mouth. Salt and pepper pork chop was of course greasy but had the right amount of seasoning. The pork chops with eggplant was also good, with the pork being surprisingly tender. Their corned beef egg sandwich was served on a very soft 'Asian' bread, which is very fine and have no air pockets. The fries that same with it were fresh and crispy. It didn't taste like they used old oil. The only thing I would've improved on was the minced pork and egg over rice. It was a bit bland and needed more salt and spices. The parking can be tight as the lot is shared with other businesses. The portions are big, the prices are reasonable and the food is great. Hao Cafe took over Corner Palace Chinese Restaurant and recently had their soft opening last month. I came to this restaurant last Monday (Memorial Day) with my mom for breakfast. We arrived a little before 10:30 am (breakfast is served until 11 am). Although there were several parties ahead of us, we were seated within 10 minutes after putting ourselves onto the waiting list because we were willing to sit at the bar (which I wouldn't recommend since it is not the most comfortable seating and also my mom and the lady sitting next to us almost fell off the stool when they sat down). Initially we had ordered Fish Filet Congee with chow mein w/ soy sauce ($10.95 prior to tax) but were told after waiting 20 minutes that they were out of congee. My mom had also initially ordered steam rice rolls but were told they were also out of it. So we ended up changing our order to B5 Fish Ball Rice Vermicelli Soup. So with a long wait and what items we were able to order, this is what we ended up getting: B13 Spam & Egg Sandwich with French Fries, $9.95 prior to tax- I ordered this western style breakfast. The portion size is on the smaller side but good for a light breakfast for one. But my mom and I shared it while we waited for the rest of our order. We both liked it (but that was because were hungry). B5 Fish Ball Rice Vermicelli Soup, $9.95 prior to tax- Because it was taking so long, my mom asked for this item to be taken to go. My husband ate this the next day and thought it was okay. But he would have preferred for there to be more fish balls (there was 6 in our order). B1 HK Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup, $9.95 prior to tax- We ordered this to go for a friend. But do not know what he thought of it. But the lady that sat next to my mom ordered it (since they were out of congee) and she told me that she thought it was just okay and that she makes a better one at home. Hong Kong Milk Tea- each of the meals we ordered comes with a drink and I picked this (if you want your drink iced, it cost $1 extra). I was rather disappointed with this Hong Kong milk tea because it was over steeped, thus bitter :( But I do appreciate that the milk tea is not sweetened so that you can adjust it to your sweetness level (you can add your own condensed milk tea and there is sugar. But the restaurant did not have any sugar substitute for that they prefer that instead). Lemon Tea- My mom got this tea hot. She thought it was okay. Our to go order (the HK shrimp wonton noodle soup) came with a drink so I ordered the HK milk tea (before I had tried mine) and also gave that to the friend we had ordered it for, but again, I don't know if he liked it or if it was bitter and over steeped like mine). Chow mein w/ soy sauce- This was part of the order that we had originally ordered which was brought to our table. It was really oily, but that's to be expected. I thought it tasted fine and so did my mom. The portion is good for the breakfast meal for one but I think also fair to share with another. Initially we were charged for the fish filet congee and chow mein w/ soy sauce combo (as we were told we would not be charged because they ran out of congee). But good thing I did make sure to check the receipt before paying and got it removed. We were at the restaurant for about an hour. That just seemed a bit too long and very disappointed that they ran out of congee (although I do understand since it was 30 minutes left before breakfast was done. But the employee we had told us that if you are seated by 11 am, you can still order breakfast). Also the milk tea was a major let down. There are only about 8 or 9 small tables and 4 chairs for bar seating. It was full and I think the restaurant just wasn't prepared to take on the small crowd they had that morning. Just like my Chinese dad made it. I'm going to try to keep this short and heartfelt, but I really loved our order on Mother's Day. As typical immigrants, my dad was a cook at a restaurant and my mom was a seamstress, so we ate pretty darn good. We ordered from here because that have chow fun, which was very tasty. This is the first Chinese bbq restaurant in this area! I don't know of another place that actually sells roasted duck in the area. I was quickly seated in a fairly busy restaurant. They offer both breakfast and lunch specials. Despite how busy and extensive their menu is- they were very fast with bringing out our order shortly after we placed it. We enjoyed the porridge and stir fry noodles a lot and look forward to coming back here. It's nice to not have to drive to San Gabriel to enjoy this type of food! read more

They are offering free iced lemon tea for all dine in customers from now until June 18th. This café is super small so keep that in mind. There were quite a few hiccups, but I definitely didn't fault them since they are so new. Plus, the staff was still very kind no matter how crazy it got. They are still trying to learn their bearings, so I definitely would come back and give them the benefit of the doubt when the craziness dies down a bit. During grand opening we were also treated with free lemon ice tea for dine in with refills. The place is small inside, only one table can fit the 6 of us. The rest are more suitable for groups of 2 or 4, and there's a bar seating. From the lunch menu, there are many choices to choose from ranging from $11.95 - $13.95 which is very reasonable. We shared: Roast duck rice plate, seafood pot with tofu, stir fry string beans, kung pao chicken, pepper salt pork chop, & stir fry udon with beef. A small little cafe that gets busy on weekends. The staff are nice and I was seated pretty quickly. I tried the wonton noodle soup: pretty standard, clean tasting broth.
