Finally they have opened!!....Have been stalking there 6th Street IG since it was mentioned...So much closer and convenient for us coming from Manor...Not that we dont love the Downtown Location...Its the Downtown part for us...Place is small on the inside, but have ample seating out doors...Service was great...after I ordered I was waiting for my grub to hit the table and a new comer hits the counter....The cashier/server was super knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made several suggestions based on her own personal preferences...Shout out to her for taking the time to explain the menu options...Not sure of her name, but I visited on the 27th about 1130ish...On to the food...Tray hit the table with the Stock Happy Chick....3 tenders, cream corn, Fries and some Honey Mustard...Everything was piping hot...Always a Plus for me...I truly love there cream corn...and the seasoned fries are great...Tenders were big, crisp and Uber juicy. Good chicken tenders I got grilled, and the fries were amazing. The sauces are bit pricey for the taste but aren't bad just definitely not worth a dollar a shot to try them all. They didn't give me my creamed corn with my meal so I was disappointed with that. Such a cool spot! It was about $30 with a tip for 2 meals and a 1 drink. The fried tenders are super yummy!!! They were fried perfectly and not too greasy- the fries on the other hand were greasy and more sweet than salty. Most of the entrees are served with cream of corn WHICH WAS AMAZING and probably my favorite thing. They have outdoor seating and play fun music, so it's a fun vibe for a sunny Austin day. He gets up to answer the door and there is a bag waiting for us. He ordered the happy chicks 6 piece tenders, fries, Mac and cheese and roasted corn. It came with 2 side sauces that he chose. The chicken tenders were crispy and still hot. They might have been the best tenders I have ever had. The Mac and cheese was creamy and had some bacon on the top. The fries were ok. Some of them were soggy and some of them were still crispy. I think fries that travel in a closed container is difficult to judge. The roasted corn was different. A little runny but had great flavor. I wish the container of sauce was a bit bigger. I didn't know there was an option to order more sauce. Last but not least he ordered to slices of the gooey butter cake. Now I have been in the restaurant biz for quite some time and I have never tried anything like this. The crumb bottom and the gooey cake on the top...mmm. I would order a bigger slice next time! First let me say I LOVE Happy Chicks! I would dine-in almost weekly before the whole pandemic situation. The reason for the 4 star review, however, is based on my experience getting take-out for the first time. I know it is mostly a packaging issue and the serving is probably the same both dine-in and take-out, but the amount of fries in my box seemed so little that it almost broke my heart as I opened my box. The dipping sauces I chose (garlic ranch and honey sriracha) were very delicious too. The fries were nicely seasoned. As for the bad, the Mac n cheese and corn were both served in bowls that I can only describe as "bowls for ants". They were tiny sample-sized bowls. Think a bowl for condiments. I had the avocado poblano sauce and my partner had the raspberry chipotle-- which I thought were both excellent. They are making food to order, so be prepared for a little well-worth-the-wait.
